Ira won her first victory, which marked the beginning of her career, at the age of eight. From this age, she adhered even more strictly to the regimen and principle of proper nutrition. Irochka came to terms with the fact that she had no free time left. She grew up as a persistent, responsible, hardworking girl and was confident in her abilities.
From the age of 14, she began to win various tournaments and competitions, winning various medals: from bronze to gold.
Slutskaya managed to win the title of the strongest figure skater in the world and Europe. She took part in the 1998 Olympics, which took place in Japan (fifth place), and in January of the following year at the Universiade she was awarded silver.
In those same years, she graduated from the Moscow Academy of Physical Education.
With her performances, Irina wanted to bring her sport as close as possible to art, winning new “gold” and “silver”. Irina left the sport in 2006, having collected 40 gold medals, 21 silver and 18 bronze.

Irina Slutskaya’s first husband was a former boxer who devoted himself to coaching children, Sergei Mikheev. They met in the company of mutual friends.
There were long conversations on the phone, beautiful courtship with gifts and flowers, and in 1999 they started a family. In 2007, Artem was born to them, and three years later, Varvara.
In 2016, their marriage went through difficult times and almost broke up. The media wrote that the former figure skater had affairs with other men. It is not known for certain whether this was true or not, but these rumors made the spouses nervous. They were able to survive this period and survive. But later, their seemingly strong family broke up.

I explain to my eldest son Artyom (my daughter Varya is still small, just turned one year old) that his activities at the skating rink (he himself wanted to skate at the age of 3), in musical theater, etc. are his JOB. He is an active, chatty guy with character, but I stick to my line. I know: what you start now will develop over time. I’m not a maniac and I don’t beat children with whips, but my policy is to force them. Although, of course, I give up slack, especially when I don’t see Artyom and Varenka for a long time due to tours. I arrive, they hang on me like two pears, my heart melts...
“AiF”: — You present sports news on First, you often go with demonstration performances, play the main role in “Sleeping Beauty”... If you don’t see your children for a long time, do you give them gifts?
I.S.: - There is such a thing, then I beat myself on the wrist. And we often sleep together, although they tell me that this is wrong, but... When my whole family is snoring “unpedagogically” next to me, it’s calmer and happier.
“AiF”: — Are you preparing children to become champions?
I.S.: - I want them not to be idle. So that languages can be known. To understand the word “must”. I want everything that my mother wanted when she and my grandmother took me to the skating rink. Nobody molded me into a European champion - I was simply taught to work. How often does this happen in figure skating? Something didn’t work out in the performance - they change the coach. But I was raised differently: all my life with one favorite coach - Zhanna Fedorovna Gromova. She performed poorly and engaged in a thorough self-examination: where did she go wrong? When you fly high, and then - bam! — you land on a soft place, it’s very sobering. You grit your teeth and climb up...

Here it is important not to rush to look for a new “lighter”, but to enjoy what is given in return - respect and mutual understanding. I’m not a saint, neither is my husband, there have been all sorts of disagreements... But when I want to fit into his T-shirt or cook him something mind-blowing, although I’m “falling off my skates,” that’s family love!

I.S.: - Otherwise! I'll handle anything. Whenever possible, I jump around the stove all day! I’ll cook meat, fish, and chicken so that all the guests lick each other’s fingers, I can even cook liver cake! It’s just that pies and buns are not given, but that’s okay, the main thing is to set a goal!
