Biography
It seems that in order to make a woman happy, it is not at all necessary to give her a million red roses, cars, the latest gadgets, or take her to expensive resorts (although, of course, it’s worth a try). Yana Poplavskaya’s young common-law husband knows this firsthand.

Yana Poplavskaya and Evgeny Yakovlev
On May 11, 2019, the artist published a joyful post on the social network that her beloved suddenly unexpectedly fulfilled her cherished desire - to enjoy one whole Napoleon cake. The confectionery box also included seven bright red heart-shaped balloons.
Little Red Riding Hood or Malvina? How did the lives of those who broke the hearts of Soviet boys turn out?

For viewers, Soviet musical fairy tales remain relevant as a reminder of a happy childhood. Looking at Little Red Riding Hood, Malvina and Alisa Selezneva, the schoolchildren were overwhelmed with emotions: the girls were jealous and dreamed of being as beautiful and popular, and the boys unrequitedly fell in love with the characters on the other side of the screen.
For some actresses, the role in a children's film was the only one, while others continued to act in films. The girls who received all-Union fame have grown up long ago, but even now they fondly remember the time when they were called by the names of the characters.
On June 28, Yana Poplavskaya, who played Little Red Riding Hood, turns 52 years old. She is still grateful to fate that at the age of 11 she became the idol of millions of schoolchildren, who now show the fairy tale to their own children. On the actress’s birthday, we will tell you how her life turned out after the famous role, and what happened to her colleagues, who turned the heads of all Soviet boys.
YANA POPLAVSKAYA
The future artist was born into the family of a journalist and actress. The girl grew up in a creative environment: artists were frequent guests in the house. When the child was four years old, the parents divorced. Yana Poplavskaya’s mother soon found a new man. Yana called her stepfather “Uncle Volodya,” but treated him like her own dad.
Poplavskaya began acting at the age of four, and at six her name could already be found in the Mosfilm file cabinet. But the title of “the most beautiful girl in the Soviet Union” did not immediately come to the artist. At first, her classmates called her ugly, and Yana could hear unpleasant comments about her own appearance even at home.
“Even my mother told me: “You’re so ugly, I’ll have to give a big dowry for you to get married,” the actress shared on the air of the “Human Fate” program.

Yana Poplavskaya was 11 when a turning point in her life occurred. The young actress had already been approved to work in the film “Sea Puppy”, and the girl was preparing to leave for America, where filming took place. But then another interesting offer arrived - the main role in a musical fairy tale. “Volodya, let’s give her to Little Red Riding Hood, what if this is her fate?” - Poplavskaya’s mother decided after consulting with her husband.
The parent hit the nail on the head - after the film’s release, passers-by recognized the girl, and directors often invited her to the movies. Yana received bags of letters from schoolchildren in love. Her classmates continued to tease the actress, but the boys showered her with compliments in their messages.
The actress continued filming. At 14, she played a sick abandoned girl in the film “Vassa”, and in 1981 she performed a role in the film “Adolescent Age”, finding herself on the same set with her mother. However, the parent was dissatisfied with her daughter’s work. “They never let me down, my mother was my main critic, she could easily say that I was playing ugly,” Yana admitted.

The parent also influenced the personal life of the heiress, introducing her to Sergei Ginzburg. Yana and Sergei got married and had a son, Klim. From the outside, the union of two creative people seemed happy, but no one knew what was going on behind the façade of the idyll. The actress worked double duty, trying to feed her family, and her husband began to cheat on her. Soon the artist experienced a tragedy: the ensuing pregnancy turned out to be difficult, and Yana lost the child.
Yana Poplavskaya: “I took hormones to save the child, and my husband began to offend me”
The birth of their second son, Nikita, did not improve the relationship between the spouses. While pregnant, the actress gained weight due to taking hormonal medications. Sergei reproached his wife, saying that she looked bad, although Yana tried by any means to save the baby. Poplavskaya's patience was running out, and the marriage finally collapsed when she again fell in love with radio host Yevgeny Yakovlev. With him, the star found happiness, once again feeling needed and desired.
NATALIA GUSEVA
Natalya Guseva did not think of becoming an artist // Photo: Still from Pavel Arsenov’s film “Guest from the Future” at the Gorky Film Studio
Since childhood, the girl loved watching the life of insects and cherished the dream of becoming an entomologist. Not a single school Olympiad in chemistry and biology was complete without the participation of Natalya Guseva. Her goal was to enter Moscow State University, but the child did not even think about becoming an actress: due to her natural modesty, Natalya was embarrassed to even ask a passerby what time it was.
But everything changed when a director from the Gorky Film Studio came to the class of a 12-year-old schoolgirl in search of an actress for the short film “Dangerous Trifles.” The children were asked to read poetry, and then the teacher recommended Natasha to the director, who approved her for the role. On the set, Pavel Arsenov drew attention to young Guseva. He immediately realized that in front of him was the ideal Alisa Selezneva, the same “Guest from the Future.”
“I didn’t pretend to be anything, I was myself and didn’t experience any acting difficulties on set. I just lived my life,” admitted Guseva.
The girl loved the book “One Hundred Years Ahead” by Kir Bulychev, on which the film was based, so she agreed to the role. After the premiere, wild popularity fell upon her: previously indifferent classmates now declared their love for the blue-eyed actress, fans were on duty at her entrance, and her table was full of letters. The parents were worried that the child could be seriously kidnapped by fans. The directors bombarded the young artist with offers, but Natalya firmly decided to return to the course she had planned since childhood - to become a biologist.
Guseva left cinema forever, but she met her husband thanks to Alisa Selezneva. Paramedic Denis Murashkevich was in absentia in love with the artist and even snuck into her hotel room when Natalya flew to his hometown of Minsk. A few years after the incident, Murashkevich accidentally met the actress. The couple began an affair, which smoothly turned into marriage.

When the couple had a daughter, Natalya’s mother-in-law insisted that the baby should be named Alice. Guseva was against it and gave the heiress a different name - Alesya. But gradually the romance left the lovers’ relationship, and they decided to divorce. In 2014, the microbiologist found a new life partner, designer Sergei Ambinder, and the second child of the Guest from the Future star, Sofia, was born.
The star of the film “Guest from the Future” Natalya Guseva secretly got married
For several years, no one knew about this marriage of the former actress: she did not miss popularity, perceiving her past profession as an adventure, and outside the world of cinema she preferred to keep the details of her personal life secret.
INGA ILM
The role of Masha Startseva glorified Inga Ilm // Photo: Still from Vladimir Alenikov’s film “The Adventures of Petrov and Vasechkin, ordinary and incredible” produced by Odessa Film Studio
Inga was born in Leningrad and, like many residents of the cultural capital, admired her hometown. According to Inga Ilm herself, St. Petersburg became her first “teacher”, instilled a sense of beauty and subsequently influenced her choice of profession. Ilm dreamed of getting a decent education and becoming a scientist. But fate decreed otherwise.
There were always many guests in the Ilm family's house. A large company, which included Leningrad actors, whiled away the time in the evenings talking and making preferences. One of the artists looked at little Inga and offered to photograph the charming girl and send the pictures to the film studio. When Vladimir Alenikov began working on the film “The Adventures of Petrov and Vasechkin,” he ended up with the footage of the child. From dozens of contenders for the main role in the film, the director chose 12-year-old Inga Ilm.
After the film was released, the entire Soviet Union fell in love with the girl. But the schoolgirl was burdened by popularity, especially when she realized that she had become a hostage to the role. Inga was associated with Masha Startseva for many years.
“I had to change schools. Having moved to another ready-made “Masha”, I did not cause such strong irritation among the teachers. True, I received a lot of letters. Then everyone exchanged calendars, and I had a great opportunity to do this with the whole country,” said the actress.
In the 90s, Inga Ilm starred in TV series and worked as a presenter // Photo: Still from Yuri Belenky’s film “Goryachev and Others” produced by the “Center for Commercial Television”
Nevertheless, Ilm was grateful to the director who gave her a wonderful childhood: filming took place in Odessa, where the young actors not only worked, but also enjoyed walks around the city. But the girl’s academic performance decreased noticeably, because due to her participation in the film she had to miss a lot of lessons. Inga slipped to “C” grades and could no longer dream of a career as a scientist. After school, she entered a theater university and continued acting in films.
On the set of the Russian-Irish film “Staircase of Light,” Ilm met her husband, director Jerry McCarthy. The couple had a son. But Inga dreamed of improving in her profession, so a few years later she went to America for acting courses. The idea was a failure, I had to study and work as an administrator in a restaurant. Returning to Russia, the star got a job in the theater, and then on television. At that time, the artist’s marriage was cracking: the lovers could not decide in which country to stay forever.
In 2008, Inga finally fulfilled her long-standing desire and entered Moscow State University. Now the 47-year-old actress is a certified art critic and lives in Rome with her second husband Igor Severtsev. The couple's dating story is full of romance. The director and designer found out Ilm’s number from her colleague and one day invited her for a walk. The woman, tired of filming TV programs, spontaneously agreed to meet a stranger. But as fate would have it, it was thanks to Igor that the artist realized that she was tired of life without days off and from constant turmoil. Now Inga Ilm has finally left TV and is enjoying a professional field that is close to her in spirit - cultural history.
TATYANA PROTSENKO
At the age of six, Tatyana Protsenko became a star // Photo: Still from Leonid Nechaev’s film “The Adventures of Pinocchio” by the Belarusfilm film studio
Tatyana learned the taste of fame early. The parents of a six-year-old girl sent her photographs to the film studio, and director Leonid Nechaev invited her to star in the film “The Adventures of Pinocchio.” The role of Malvina seemed like a dream to Protsenko: she loved the fairy tale “The Golden Key” and thought that she would be in the frame with a dog, poodle Artemon. To the disappointment of the young actress, the dog was played by a boy dressed in a suit.
It was difficult on the set, because the demanding director wanted to make the adaptation of the fairy tale perfect. Little Tanya did not always understand how to show emotions on camera. So, once, for two hours they could not get sincere tears from her. The scene was a success only when Nechaev shouted at the girl in anger. Protsenko was the only child in the family, they never raised their voice to her, they cared and cherished her, so the upset Malvina seriously burst into tears, and the cameraman was able to capture this for the film.
Having seen Tatyana's film debut, her peers were divided into two camps: girls who dubbed the young star neat and boring because of the role, and boys who were embarrassed by the mere sight of the beautiful Malvina. Protsenko’s career could have gone uphill, because Nechaev was already preparing a new fairy tale for her - “About Little Red Riding Hood”, but a fatal accident crossed out the director’s plans. Tanya fell off her bike and received a serious back injury, after which doctors forbade the baby any physical or emotional stress. As a result, the character was embodied on the screen by Yana Poplavskaya.
“What happened happened, it means it was destined to happen. I entered the film studies department of VGIK. Then I felt very well what loneliness was,” Tatyana recalled the ridicule of classmates who criticized her for her early role.

Trauma, career failures and betrayal of her husband: how the life of the performer of the role of Malvina Tatyana Protsenko turned out
Protsenko also faced trials in his family life. Tatyana's first marriage turned out to be unhappy, although the couple had a daughter, Anya, the husband led a riotous lifestyle and cheated on his wife while she was at home with the child. The actress decided to divorce, ceasing all contacts with her chosen one who betrayed her.
But then luck smiled on Protsenko. She got a job at a publishing house, where she met Alexei Voytyuk, who also recently experienced a breakup and also played in the fairy tale “After the Rain on Thursday.” A dizzying romance led to a new marriage. In this union, Tatyana gave birth to a son. The couple are still inseparable and both are creative: Alexey acts in films, and the 51-year-old star of “The Adventures of Pinocchio” writes and publishes poetry.
ANNA PLISETSKAYA

Anna is the niece of the legendary ballerina Maya Plisetskaya. The girl’s mother, Marianna Sedova, became famous as an artist of the Bolshoi Theater, and her father as a famous choreographer. Only Anya’s grandmother, Rachel Messerer, who played in silent films, was connected with the world of cinema.
Little Plisetskaya first appeared on screen at the age of three, starring in the ballet film Anna Karenina. However, Soviet viewers began to recognize the 13-year-old girl after the role of Jane Banks in “Mary Poppins, Goodbye.” After the release of the film, all the actors participating in it felt what popularity was like.
“They told me after Mary Poppins, Goodbye: “You should have gone to America and become a Hollywood star,” Plisetskaya said.
But neither letters from fans nor reviews from others convinced Anna to continue her acting career. She knew that, as a representative of the famous ballet dynasty, she could not choose a different path. After graduating from the academy, the artist worked at the Mariinsky Theater and then toured Asia and the USA.
In the 2000s, Plisetskaya began creating dance programs for gifted children. She seemed so caught up in her work that there was simply no time left for her personal life. “I don’t have a personal life, because you won’t meet people like you did in the last generation now—the production has been discontinued. To stay in my life, you must not let me read you quickly. But I have no money to give birth to children - I have no money. Maybe I will still have a child. But for now I’m the last Plisetskaya,” Anna said two years ago.

The ballerina rarely gives interviews and hides whether she has a lover. Now the 47-year-old artist does not remember her acting past. Anna is involved in staging dance performances and does not believe that the role of Jane Banks meant much in her life.

Childhood and youth
Unfortunately, there is not much comprehensive information about the early and youthful years of the chosen one of the Soviet Little Red Riding Hood. Except that Evgeniy Anatolyevich was born on June 16, 1982 in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, located on the banks of the Angara. What little Zhenya looked like as a child can be seen thanks to Yana Evgenievna’s Facebook account.

Evgeny Yakovlev in childhood
Every year a woman tries to publish pictures of her husband from the past - in 2017, a publication appeared that depicted a serious baby in a checkered shirt near a bush. In 2018, there was a photograph where a boy was captured at home against the background of toys (among them the symbol of the 2014 Olympics Cheburashka and his friend the crocodile Gena) wearing headphones with a microphone. It seems that the child knew from a young age what he would become when he grew up.
No information has been provided at which school Yakovlev attended. But it is known that the future radio host received his “tower” degree at the Kursk Institute of Management, Economics and Business.

Recipe from Poplavskaya on how to find happiness again
In 2011, Yana finally made up her mind and filed for divorce. When she got rid of the stone on her neck in the form of her disgusted husband, the actress grew wings. In 2015, the younger Poplavskaya no longer hid her lover, who was 12 years younger than the actress.
The chosen one turned out to be an unknown journalist and radio host Evgeny Yakovlev. There were persistent rumors that Zhenya allegedly left his first wife because of Yana, and Poplavskaya’s subscribers hinted at the selfish goals of the young gigolo.
While the press was discussing the lovers, the actress shared her recipe for female happiness on Instagram. Here is a quote from Yana Poplavskaya’s notes, loudly screaming about family idyll.
“How simple it is - you wake up, and the sun is shining, the birds are singing, the wind is rustling, and you are happy! Happiness is simple!”
On June 16, 2020, Yana congratulated her beloved on his birthday. The actress said that her husband is kind, modest and taciturn, and she is behind him like behind a stone wall. It turns out that for complete happiness, a husband must have a pleasant voice and golden hands. And then love turns into an ordinary miracle!
“I’m happy that we met back in 2006! – writes Yana. Apparently, up there they knew that you were my man, and I was yours. Be happy, may life never change your soul and heart, and may your guardian angel protect us..."
This paragraph contains the answer to who Yana Poplavskaya, the one and only Red Riding Hood of Russia, loves.
Personal life
On April 24, 2019, Evgeniy published a touching video on his Facebook and Instagram pages, consisting of joint photographs with Yana, and dedicated it to a small family holiday. The caption for the video read:
“4 years together, you might think - what nonsense, not a long time at all! And for us this is a huge period filled with a thousand events. During these 4 years there were clouds and sun, seas, oceans and different countries, laughter and tears, but all this time we were happy, and we want to be like that (and together) until the end! Love you, honey!".

Evgeny and Yana met in 2006 on the radio, where both held positions as presenters of programs. For a long time, their relationship was only of a service nature - the woman was married to director Sergei Ginzburg, the man also had a family. But in 2011, the actress filed for divorce due to the infidelity of her husband, with whom she celebrated her silver wedding. The same thing happened in Yakovlev’s personal life with his first wife; the reason for the discord was not stated.
Almost immediately, the lovers began to live together and introduced their children from previous marriages to each other. Evgeniy is raising his daughter Lisa, the girl took ballroom dancing, and in 2018 she went to 1st grade.

“Zhenya proposed to me more than once. But we haven’t officially reached it yet. How come I'm not married? I have a civil marriage. What's the difference - the blue stamp? Does he change anything in the relationship? But in general, yes, Zhenya and I will have a painting,” Yana said in November 2018.
The common-law husband himself shared that he had already presented his beloved with a diamond ring in honor of the engagement. According to Poplavskaya, they are not planning any noisy festive celebrations with a large number of people; everything will be held modestly and not for show.

Evgeny Yakovlev and Yana Poplavskaya
Despite the age difference, the couple really looks happy - Evgeny and Yana do not hide their strong feelings, they love to travel, attend social events and surprise each other. For example, hand in hand they appeared at the Moscow Film Festival in 2020, visited the Caribbean Islands and France, and in addition to the cake, the man pampers his lady with home-cooked dishes.
Now the radio host and artist are building a country house in Sofrino, raising a border collie dog named Nicole and admit that the main secret of their romantic relationship so far is trust.
Yana Poplavskaya about her first grandson: “He has a chin with a signature dimple”
Last weekend, the mother of two adult sons, actress Yana Poplavskaya delighted her many subscribers by announcing on her Instagram that she had become a grandmother! “And we have a BOY! My eldest son Klim became a dad today, and I became a butterfly! In our Poplavsky family, there is an increase in happiness, joy and Hope for the best for the baby! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!” — the star wrote. WomanHit.ru, of course, could not ignore such an event and found out from the artist what it was like to become a young grandmother.
— Yana, we can congratulate you: you are now a grandmother. What emotions are overwhelming you right now?
- I think there will be emotions tomorrow, because tomorrow we are taking the baby. The whole family will gather and we will go to the maternity hospital. I only saw him from photographs, but it seems to me that he is absolutely ours: he has a signature chin with a dimple. I think when you pick it up and hear the smell, then you’ll understand everything... But I myself haven’t understood anything yet! (Smiles.) When you give birth to a child yourself, you don’t understand that you are a mother. You look at the child: what a miracle! My husband and I were leaving for the dacha, I said to my daughter-in-law: “Do you want me to stay? Because you’ll either give birth tonight or tomorrow.” She didn't believe it, but it happened.

— How did you guess?
“You can just see it by the way the woman moves.” When you have two children yourself, you understand everything. So everyone is happy, everyone is excited, there is active preparation for the meeting: balloons, this, that... Well, this is so great! True, I was hoping for a girl. (Smiles.) I thought: what if it’s a girl? No, still a boy...
— Honestly, looking at you, it’s hard to believe that Yana Poplavskaya is already a grandmother...
- You know, my mother became a grandmother when she was even younger than me. I gave birth to Klim at seventeen and a half, and my mother gave birth to me at 21. That is, she was 38 years old when she became a grandmother. And now she is a young great-grandmother. Imagine! Everyone in our family is very young. So this is great! Why did I write on Instagram that I am not a grandmother, I am a butterfly, because grandmothers nowadays are all very young, and they flutter, fly over their grandchildren, fly away, get nectar, bring it and fly away again. (Laughs.)
— What was the baby's name?
— The grandson was named Ilarius. Because Klim and his wife are a church-going family, they were named after the calendar. A beautiful old Russian name. Saints to help. And his name day will be July 25th. We will call him Lari, Ilya, Il. So he will be Ilariy Poplavsky.
— Sounds like a ready-made name for a future star...
- Yes. Did you know that Hillary Clinton's name is Ilaria? It turns out that the names Ilariy and Ilariya are like the names Evgeniy and Evgeniya, Valentin and Valentina, etc.
Yana Poplavskaya dreamed of a granddaughter, but grandson Ilariy was the first to appear in the family
instagram.com/the_yana_poplavskaya/
— Yana, do you believe in the superstition that you can’t buy clothes for a newborn in advance?
- And we didn’t buy anything before birth, I believe in this sign. Before Nikita (Poplavskaya’s youngest son - editor’s note ), I lost a child. And I believe that there is no need to buy anything in advance, especially anything that is put on the body: diapers, undershirts, etc. Listen, but why? While a woman is in the maternity hospital, now everything can be purchased in one day. Well, maximum - in two days. I have a charity foundation, and how many people have I seen who give away completely new kits, sobbing and throwing ashes on their heads when something happens to the baby... But now we have already managed to buy everything, we have everything we need. Now go to any store and in a second you can find what you need. Well, my friends are preparing gifts, and my mother, in my opinion, has already collected a bag of dowry. There is already a luxurious cradle and clothes. We can’t bear so much—we’ll grow up quickly!
— Where will you live as a large and friendly family? I know that you are building a beautiful house...
- Already built. During quarantine, we also completed a bathhouse and a guest house. We also have a large four-room apartment. My son and his wife, my grandson, and Varyusha (Klim’s wife’s daughter from a previous marriage - editor’s note ) will live in my Moscow apartment for now. But, naturally, we will move between the house and the apartment. Although we are mostly in the house now - it is near Moscow, in Sofrino. It’s very convenient for us, it’s very close, we built it for this purpose. The drive is about 45 minutes or an hour. By Moscow standards, when you can drive around the city for two hours, this is very fast. For example, I get to Ostankino in an hour.
During self-isolation, Yana and her husband completed the construction of a new country house

— Well, are you ready to take on the responsibilities of a grandmother?
“I often hear conversations of young people who tell their parents: “We gave birth to a grandson for you.” I always say: you are not giving birth to your parents, but to yourself. And my deep conviction, since I raised my children myself: in order to never make claims to anyone, not to sort things out with grandmothers, nannies, you need to educate yourself. If a child grows up with only a nanny and grandmother, it is the child of a nanny or grandmother. But I think that the question here is that the grandmother should be happy. Grandma should be happiness, a gift option, a fairy. I'm absolutely serious. Despite the fact that grandmothers are different. There are grandmothers who are retired, and they have one dream, the meaning of their life is to raise a child. Or mothers with many children who give birth every year have a job that, in general, they chose for themselves. They have such a task in life - to be a mother of many children. I spend a lot of time dealing with other people’s children who become mine. I have an acting course for 30 people, I am the master of the course at the Kobzon Theater Institute. And my foundation cooperates with the Khabensky Foundation, we are engaged in educational programs for children who are seriously ill. And it seems to me that using a woman like me as just hands is ridiculous. I believe that parental work, affection, love and understanding of what a difficult parental lot is, appear only when you yourself grow your own piece of a person who becomes big. And then you will attribute all your mistakes or parental victories to yourself, and not sort things out with your grandmothers. Therefore, I will be a gift option.
