I noticed my boss, Sheba Xylon Tii, right away. He, as usual, sat at the head of the table. And you must admit, the bright green hair that was a characteristic feature of Tia’s coven was hard to miss. The Sheba were generally quite a colorful race. Tall, flexible, humanoid. The only thing that bothered me was their extraordinary thinness and yellow snake eyes with black vertical pupils. They were famous for their terrible egocentrism and absolute polygamy. The Shebas never thought about fidelity and marriage vows. They did not make love, but copulated to relieve tension after a tiring day at work. Family unions were created exclusively by agreement on mutually beneficial terms. “That’s impossible,” the young Manul answered sharply.
Curiosity was burning inside me, but I decided not to openly express it... yet. I am sure that soon, with a favorable outcome of the deal, I will be able to find out many new facts about the mysterious Manulians and their planet.
Mom rarely talked about her homeland and former compatriots, so this race remained very mysterious to me. Very little was known about their way of life in general. And only a very limited number of people spoke Manul on our planet. I think it was my command of the Manul language at a high level that was the factor thanks to which I received a place at the Intergalactic Translation Center. I don’t remember that anyone else in our department spoke Manul.
