Fresh and unusual: 80-year-old Jane Fonda, even against the backdrop of older actresses, tries to look bright

A little history

The girl always took good care of herself, she loved sports and different types of dancing. After forty years, she began to popularize aerobics in the United States. As a result, every morning for many girls began with the girls turning on the TV and watching Jane Fonda. Aerobics for beginners in Russian also existed then, and many around the world jumped with this unique woman to cheerful music and her sonorous comments , which could not help but motivate.

It’s not for nothing that many call Jane the inventor of fitness aerobics. Her system of exercises, aimed at eliminating excess weight, developing flexibility and shaping posture, is extremely popular to this day.

And even if you have never seen her teaching lessons, you have probably heard about her. Few people do not know Jane Fonda, the progenitor of all aerobic complexes.

Several effective exercises from Jane Fonda

Aerobics with Jane Fonda
Exercise one: you need to kneel down and lean on your straight arms, while your back should remain straight and your head directed forward. Then you should begin to slowly lift the leg bent at the knee, moving it to the side until the position of the leg becomes parallel to the floor. The back should be kept in its original position, and the body weight should be distributed evenly. This exercise is performed the same way for each leg. It is optimal to start repetitions 20 times, gradually increasing this number. Exercise two: you need to lie on the floor and stretch your arms along your body. Then you should raise your torso and pelvis so that your body is in a straight line, from your shoulders to your knees. The exercise is performed 20 times, increasing the number of repetitions and speeding up the pace. Exercise three: you need to sit on the floor, tilt your torso back and lean on your bent arms. Raise your legs up in a straight position, then begin to perform the so-called “scissors” - alternately crossing your legs with each other. In this case, the legs and the body itself should form a right angle with each other.

Tips from Jane

In almost every training video she liked to repeat two simple rules for excellent physical shape and maintaining good health. These tips still help many girls:

  1. You should never go on diets that cause you physical or psychological discomfort.
  2. Stop sitting in one place and growing fat! Get off the couch and start exercising.

As you can see, such advice could not help but motivate. The girls got up and began to engage with this amazing woman . And they liked the results of such training so much that they did not stop there! As a result, this aerobics became a part of their life.

Career

Jane trained at the famous New York Actors Studio. She then became a model and theater actress. Success did not come to Jane immediately. After all, at first many directors did not see much acting talent in her, mainly exploiting her appearance. Therefore, Jane Fonda's roles can be divided into two categories: “female temptress” and bright dramatic actress. Below we will discuss the most important milestones in the film career of this successful actress.

1960 - played a role in the film “An Incredible Story” (1960). It was with this film that Jane Fonda began her path to success.

1962 – Participated in such films as “Walks on the Wild Side,” “The Chapman Report” and “Sunday in New York.” After them, critics began to take Fonda’s acting work more seriously.

1969 - Jane played in the film “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?”, where she showed herself to be a brilliant dramatic actress.

1972 - received an Oscar for her role in the film Klute.

1976 – starred in the Soviet-American film “The Blue Bird”.

1978 - played the role of playwright Lillian Hellman in the film “Julia”, for which she received a Golden Globe.

1979 - received an Oscar for her role in the film “Coming Home.”

Late 70s – founded cinema. The most famous films shot by the named were: “The China Syndrome” (1979) and “On the Golden Lake” (1981).

1990 - the film "Stanley and Iris", in which Jane participated, failed. In the same year, she was nominated as worst actress for her role in the film “Old Gringo.” After this, the actress did not act in film for a long time and even stated that she wanted to leave cinema.

2005 – returned to cinema, playing in the film “If Your Mother-in-Law Is a Monster.”

Aerobics with Jane Fonda

In Russian you can easily find the lessons you need. Almost all of her lessons are translated into Russian, so you don’t have to worry that you won’t understand anything. Even after time, her lessons remain as popular as when they appeared. A set of exercises are simple and easy movements that anyone can perform, regardless of their physical fitness.

Jane has developed a complex especially for beginners, consisting of very simple exercises. Such exercises provide a good cardio workout, allowing you to lose excess weight in a short time. It is with them that the trainer advises starting his classes. Let's look at some of them in more detail.

Exercises while lying down

Take a lying position, lean on your right side, but place the main emphasis on your right hand. Bend your left leg at the knee joint and place it forward. The left hand is placed on the left knee.

Gently lift your left leg up, trying to do it as high as possible. Watch your back - it should remain straight. Breathe calmly. Perform thirty repetitions, then change position to the left side.

If you find it difficult to navigate, then be sure to watch a training lesson on the Internet - the trainer carefully describes each pose and talks about its pros and cons. This makes working out even more interesting. And with visual contact, it is easier for many to grasp the coach’s instructions .

Tilts in different directions

This exercise is familiar to many; it is present in many fitness programs. It helps to work out the sides and abdominal muscles.

You need to stand up straight, keep your back straight, place your feet shoulder-width apart. Raise one hand up and place the other on your thigh. Slowly lean to the side, tilting the raised arm along with your torso, while the other hand slides down your thigh. Return to the starting position. Watch your lower back - there should not be a strong bend. Five repetitions are enough for each side. But then this number, of course, increases.

JANE FONDA AND HER ANTI-AGING “LABORATORY”

After the post about the “first ladies” of global anti-aging, I still receive letters asking me to further develop this topic. People who defy their years! Jane Fonda (79 years old) is one of those who turned her life into an inspiring “laboratory” under the sign: “No one has done this before!”

Watching someone successful, we unconsciously try on their success and “light up.” We like! This is how the scientific method of “mirror neurons” from neuroscience works. By practicing “mirror neurons,” you can stay motivated for a long time, transforming yourself at an accelerated pace.

“Mirror neurons” first discovered by neuroscientist Giacomo Rizzolatti (Italy) in the 1990s. These “burst” neurons fire in the brain when we observe a successful person. Mirror neurons increase drive and desire to move forward and change something in your life. Giacomo Risolatti said: “If you watch a happy person, then your brain commands: cheer up!” Therefore, observing the best is part of our transformative strategy.

But you need to be “transformed” by someone’s success correctly. Namely, analyze all the details. See the strengths and weaknesses, what made it possible to achieve success, and where the beginning of destruction was provoked. Therefore, we analyze not just the external brilliance and gloss of a person, but what stands behind this “facade”.

In our body there is such a thing as a “storage system” of bad and good. What it is? This is when our lifestyle (healthy or unhealthy) accumulates for us “reservoirs” of this bad or good, so that at some point it will certainly “shoot” with one or another event in our life.

It has been proven that the condition of our body depends at least 50% on lifestyle, and only 10–15% is determined by genetics, 20–25% by ecology, and 10–15% by medicine.

The process of accumulating these critical effects is always hidden for us. We don’t see this because we live “unconsciously.” When such a sudden and extremely undesirable event happens (in business they call it a “black swan”) , we fall into a stupor: “A-aa.... It happened! Why?!". The “black swan” arrives precisely because of our unawareness. Mindfulness is now considered almost a panacea. At all discussion platforms of global anti-aging and preventive medicine, this term is constantly used.

Mindfulness is the first thing Jane Fonda in her “master classes” on age management. Her cool perfectionism, originality, courage and openness to life experiments allowed her to occupy a unique niche in the global crowd. She has no equal in her age group.

On the eve of the 80th anniversary

Fonda is the undisputed leader in practical anti-aging, also because she combines things that no one else has combined yet.

Rejuvenation at the level of plastic surgery, rejuvenation at the level of a healthy lifestyle, rejuvenation at the level of the soul. What, did we expect something different? This is Jane Fonda !

Her anti-aging “laboratory” has both super achievements and serious failures. Actually, like in every experimental laboratory. But this is why her experience is valuable, because it helps us understand how to move flawlessly.

LET'S ANALYZE!

Bette Davis once said that aging is not for women. And she is right in many ways! But you can’t pretend all the time that nothing is happening to your body and that you are the same as before. I'm trying to find a way to adapt to age-related changes in such a way that it is not a defeat in strength and beauty. I learned to look at age as “steps” leading up to something better! And I want to share this with others. I always tell women: “Life is a long distance, so you need to have a strong soul and a strong body.”

“People still think about age with horror. I conducted special research, for which I traveled around the country for four years. In addition, I got acquainted with studies that were conducted in other countries. I've collected a lot of information on how to better prepare for the last third of your life and turn this period into the best time of your life. And yes, it’s possible.”

MY MISTAKES:

  • For a long time I didn’t know how to say “no”
  • I didn't know how to raise children properly
  • I didn't understand the resource of love
  • I didn't know how to eat right
  • I did a lot of things wrong... but most importantly, I had no awareness.

And yet, I cherish my mistakes. Because we don't learn from good times, we don't learn from success. We only learn from mistakes, failures, wounds, scars... It took me 60 years to come to awareness and integrity. Everything would have been different if I had come to this in my younger years. Sometimes I look back and think: “I was there, I did that, and it didn’t kill me...”.

"CUMULATIVE EFFECTS" FOR JANE

Fighting breast cancer, very complex surgeries on the spine, legs and other parts of the body, bad genetics and ongoing osteoarthritis.

The question arises: “How do huge “doses” of fitness, an agent of a healthy lifestyle, and ineradicable optimism “coexist” with such a prickly “bouquet”?

Surgical operations on the skeletal system.

“At 65 years old, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I will never forget the day (I was 71) when the doctor told me, “You will have to have a hip replacement.” “I thought: “Are you kidding me?!” Forget it - I'm a workout guru. With an artificial knee, that’s not my look!” But I still had to undergo surgery. Now I have an artificial knee and a titanium hip. Moreover, doctors warned that at about 85 years old I would have to get a second “new” knee. Does this depress me? No! The main thing is to preserve the spirit of youth.”

Osteoarthritis not only takes a toll on your reputation as a fitness queen, but also reduces your quality of life. What is osteoarthritis ? This is the destruction of cartilage tissue. The bony surfaces of the joint become exposed, causing inflammation and pain. The joints of the arms, legs and spine suffer.

Many people ask Jane if osteoarthritis by excessive exercise.

New research is against sports in the “too much” style. Moderate exercise improves the health and shape of the body, while excessive exercise destroys it. If in our athletic desire to be “the best” we do not know the limits, then we risk getting chronic joint diseases. Constantly increasing loads wear out the joints.

This is a disastrous ad for someone promoting a fitness DVD. But if your name is Jane Fonda and you still look like a sensation, you can be sure it will make millions.

The situation needs to be saved: “No, no,” Jane , “my osteoarthritis is a matter of genes, it’s family. In addition, in my younger years I suffered from bulimia (bulimia is not so dangerous for the image, even titled people talk about it), which deprived my body of necessary benefits. I had a lot of fractures in my arms and legs because the bones were brittle and weak.

Oh, these cumulative effects that are inconvenient for life and image!

Surgery to remove breast cancer at age 73. Jane beat both cancer and the depression that set in at that time. However, neither one nor the other prevented me from remaining active and beautiful even with such a test.

Youth on the outside

Plastic surgery.

  • First facelift - at 40 years old
  • Getting breast implants at age 49
  • Removal of breast implants - at 64 years old (Attention: after this, breast cancer was discovered a few years later - it’s worth considering!)
  • Second facelift at age 72.

The last lift concerned the lower part of the face, eyelids and the removal of hernias under the eyes. “I told the surgeon: ‘Don’t remove my wrinkles. I don’t want to look stupid when the face doesn’t match the neck and everything.”

Youth from within

“I really regret that I didn’t start eating consciously when I was young. Not a single doctor at that time warned me about the dangers of cigarettes, alcohol and typical American food. This was unexpectedly revealed to me by my partner in the film “They shoot driven horses, don’t they? ” - Red Buttons . It was a grueling shoot. Hours of marathons... When you dance with someone for many hours on end, you start to notice a lot of things. I collapsed from fatigue. Red Buttons , who is much older than me, not only kept me fresh and cheerful all this time, but also supported me. According to the script, during the dance our cheeks touched - and I noted his incredible, fresh, smooth and radiant skin. “Do you have great skin and a lot of energy? What’s the secret?” I asked. “It’s all about the special diet,” Red replied. He “passed” me on to his doctor, a nutritionist who advised him. He was my first proper doctor who changed my understanding of nutritional options.”

(By the way, Red Buttons lived a long life).

“Today I, my children and grandchildren are on a systematic, low-calorie diet. There is a strict taboo on everything sweet, dairy and alcohol. And everything else - only in small portions. We focus on fish, fresh vegetables, fruits and grains. Meat occasionally. Even the little members of my family don’t know what sweets, desserts, Coca-Cola and other fizzy drinks are. On birthdays and holidays, our festive table is quite modest.

I have a hearty breakfast: two scrambled eggs with onions and herbs. Sometimes the toasted toast is made from coarsely ground black bread. I add sprouted wheat grains.

Between meals, I always eat an apple or some other small fruit as a precaution. This prevents low blood sugar. This is just mindfulness in nutrition. If you don’t do this, the first thing you will want to do is find something sweet to quickly replenish your energy. And this is the worst thing you can do! An apple or banana will promptly raise your sugar level, eliminate the feeling of hunger, and fill you with energy.

As soon as awareness came to me, I dramatically changed my attitude towards food - I stopped fighting it, declared a truce and began to perceive it as a life-giving friend. I treat food calmly, I put it in the place it deserves. Food is just fuel for the body. It should be low-calorie, varied, fresh and biologically clean.”

SOFT STRATEGIES

“I’m soon 80. Not long ago I experienced an unexpected discovery - despite my age, I’m happier than ever. This is unusual because I come from a long line of depressed people - my father, mother (who committed suicide in middle age) and other family members were chronically depressed. I managed to break out of this circle. But in my younger years, I often felt depressed. And I did not at all expect to become happy at the third age. This is a huge surprise!

I'm working on my inner peace. Twice a day I immerse myself in a state of “above the hustle and bustle.” This is super important! The older you get, the more developed and unique you become. This gives you peace of mind, clarity of mind and courage to look beyond the line of life! Living in awareness means constantly remembering the upcoming “departure.” There is much more that has been covered than is left. Thinking about “leaving” is right. It helps you optimize your time, make wise decisions, and invest in love. I'm not afraid of death! I watched my father die. He faded away slowly, and I had time to observe the process of extinction. He didn't tell me if he was afraid, and I didn't dare ask him that question. But watching my father and thinking about it helped me think differently about “leaving.” What I'm afraid of is dying with regrets. If you have come to wisdom, integrity and the authentic self, there is nothing to regret! I made the decision to come to this state of “no regret.” I want my family to be close at this special time and for it to be a time of love. For this to happen, we need to work on it now. That's why I invest in love.

I gave up “radical” fitness and yoga. I don't twist myself into a pretzel anymore, but I haven't given up on the exercise either. When osteoarthritis put a stop to great fitness and great yoga, I switched to gentle yoga and Pilates, walking, recumbent cycling, working with dumbbells, etc. I live on a hill, so going up and down is difficult and sometimes painful. It is difficult to get out of the car and get into it. But I do it all persistently. So I challenge myself.

Now it has become more difficult for me to move quickly and lift weights at the same time. But I still do it. I work actively with my hands so that osteoarthritis does not deform them. This is how I fight.

Many people make this mistake: if they cannot do what they once did, then they do nothing. It's important to do something. If you can't run, walk. If you cannot lift heavy loads, reduce the load. But keep yourself physically active. This has implications not only for your body, but also for your brain.

In addition to all these exercises, I do one 10-minute set of special exercises every morning to “warm up” myself, increase my energy, and one 10-minute set in the evening to “cool down” myself, relax, and get ready for bed.

On the eve of the 80th anniversary

Is it possible to be desired at the third age? Of course you can! As we get older, things get easier. There's no need to worry about the little things anymore. I believe that 70-year-olds and older can be attractive and desirable. But many jump off this “train” due to their own desire and mentality. But I can and want to “move” further!

Hollywood is changing its attitude towards older women.

Previously, there were few older women on the big screens. It was believed that on the big screen it was pleasant to look at beautiful faces with flawless skin... But now this is becoming a thing of the past. Business changes everything. The fact is that the age group “60+” is growing in the world, and its representatives want to see their stories on screens. This is the fastest growing demographic trend worldwide. And Hollywood is already adapting to this new reality.

We live on average 34 years longer than our great-great-greats. This is a whole second adult life. There is no need to spend these precious years in decrepitude. Stay healthy, stay fit, stay curious, stay loving - it will keep you glowing from the inside out.

Never ruin your image with “overdone” plastic surgery. In this case, the result is usually not at all what was expected. I chose a different path - moderation in plastic. That's why I still look like myself. But I see a lot of people with “alien”, bad faces. Most likely, they did not take into account the possible effects when they set the task for the surgeon.

My plans. Soon you will see me in the new series “Newsroom”, in the role of Nancy Reagan. I also plan to write several books.

We must learn to “make lemonade out of lemons.” This means turning life’s adversities into “fuel” for new opportunities. This is my principle!".

With " mirror neurons " we walked through Jane Fonda's laboratory. We need to do this more often! After all, this is not just another, additional information about a person who opens up new opportunities, but a good stimulus for our wonderful neurons. Mirror neurons trigger a cascade of good change.

The next post is about how to turn winter time into the best time for rejuvenation and health.

Keaton's 1 year younger Candice Bergen also decided to wear a black and white outfit. The woman was wearing black trousers, a snow-white shirt, over which was a jumper with the image of Snow White, and red pumps matching the apple color of the fairy tale heroine. It’s rare to see grandmothers choosing clothes with prints, so maybe Candice decided to hint to her daughter that she wants grandchildren so she can tell them fairy tales?

But, nevertheless, Jane Fonda surpassed her friends and surprised her with such a bright image at 80 years old. All we can do is wish everyone to look so young at this age.
