Preparation

Finely chop the onion and garlic.

Fry the onion and garlic in vegetable oil for about 2 minutes over medium heat. After that, put them on a plate.

Cut the chicken into small pieces and fry in heated vegetable oil over high heat for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Fry in small parts so that a crust appears on the meat faster, which will prevent the juice from escaping and the chicken will be juicier and softer. Salt to taste and mix.

Add onion, garlic and pepper, cut into strips, to the meat. Fry over medium heat for about 3 minutes.

Add beans, corn, cumin, ground chili pepper and tomatoes to the pan. I used canned tomatoes, but you can also use tomato puree or finely chopped peeled tomatoes. Zira should be ground or rubbed with your fingers to small grains. Mix well and fry over medium heat for another 3 minutes.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater; it is better to use one that melts well when heated. Add cheese to the pan and stir.

Wait for the cheese to melt and remove the pan from the heat.

We prepare the tortillas, now we will assemble the burritos. Place 3-4 tablespoons of the prepared filling on the edge of the flatbread. And roll up the burrito as shown in the photo.

How to make a chicken burrito

Making a chicken burrito is very easy. For this recipe you will need simple ingredients:

  • 600 g chicken meat,
  • 3 avocados,
  • 4 tomatoes,
  • 1 onion head,
  • 1 bunch of cilantro (coriander),
  • freshly squeezed juice of one lemon,
  • 3 tsp. salt,
  • 3 tsp. pepper,
  • 4 flatbreads
  • olive oil (3 - 4 tbsp).

Making a burrito with chicken.

1. Cut the meat into small pieces (2 ½ cm).

2. Add two teaspoons of salt, pepper or 1 tbsp. l. Masterfoods spices. Leave to marinate for 2 hours.

3. Cut off the tops of the tomatoes and remove the pulp using a teaspoon.

4. Cut the hollow tomatoes and onions into small pieces. Mix them together in a bowl, add chopped cilantro or coriander.

5. Cut the avocado in half. Remove the seeds. Place the fruit halves in a bowl and mash with a fork until smooth.

6. Add avocado puree to tomatoes with onions and cilantro. Stir.

7. Add lemon juice and 1 tsp to the mixture. salt.

8. Heat a frying pan with a few tablespoons of olive oil over high heat.

9. Place the chicken pieces, fry them on all sides until brown.

10. Prepare the tortillas. For 10 - 12 pieces, take 2 cups of cornmeal, add 1 tsp. salt and 50 g margarine. Stir. Pour in 1 ¼ hot water in a thin stream, remembering to stir until the dough becomes soft.

Divide the dough into 10 - 12 parts and place under a warm, damp towel for a few minutes.

Roll out thin flat cakes and fry them in a hot frying pan without oil (on both sides over low heat).

11. While the tortillas are soft and warm, top the centers with guacamole (avocado mixture) and chicken pieces. Quickly roll up the tortillas (while they are still hot).

Serve the chicken burrito or place it in the refrigerator. To reheat in the oven, wrap the burrito in aluminum foil.

Burrito with minced meat

Ingredients for the minced burrito:

  • boiled beans (1 cup),
  • large onion (1 pc.),
  • 3 cloves of garlic,
  • fresh hot pepper (chili),
  • 5 tomatoes,
  • salt and peppercorns,
  • hot sauce (optional)
  • green cilantro (to taste),
  • olive oil (1 - 2 tbsp).

Minced burrito recipe.

1. Cut the onion into small pieces, chop the garlic cloves.

2. Remove seeds and membranes from the chili pepper and cut into pieces.

3. Peel the tomatoes (place in a large bowl, fill with hot water, wait 5 minutes, remove and peel with a sharp knife).

4. Grind the beans using a masher (not to a homogeneous consistency).

5. Grind a few peppercorns in a hand mortar to a powder.

6. Chop the cilantro.

7. Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Fry the onion until golden brown, stirring constantly.

8. Add garlic and chili pepper. Stir, simmer for 5 minutes, stirring so that the vegetables do not burn.

9. Add minced meat to the fried vegetables and fry until the meat is cooked (light brown).

10. Add tomatoes, beans and spices to the mixture. Stir and mash the tomatoes until soft. Simmer for another 4 - 5 minutes. or until all the liquid has evaporated.

11. Place the prepared filling in the middle of each flatbread, pour over the sauce, sprinkle with cilantro and wrap in a roll.

The history of the burrito: it all started with a donkey

The name "burrito" literally means "little donkey". Some say the recipe got its nickname because the package was shaped like a donkey's ear.   7. Fry the layers in a dry frying pan without oil. Fry each side for 2 minutes;
  8. The finished tortillas should be pale yellow with small bubbles. They should also be immediately covered with a towel after frying.

Step-by-step recipe for Mexican burrito

You need to purchase the following ingredients:

  • Tortilla – 10 pieces;
  • Tomatoes – 3 pieces;
  • 2 sweet peppers;
  • 2 fresh cucumbers;
  • Onions - 2 pieces;
  • 300 grams of hard cheese;
  • Champignons – 250 grams;
  • Any meat – 1 kg;
  • Mayonnaise – 200 grams;
  • A pinch of salt, ground black pepper.

Prepare the dish according to the following scheme:

  1. The meat should be placed in cold water. Add some salt to the water and put it on medium heat. Cook until done;
  2. Cut the finished breasts into small pieces and pepper them well;
  3. Peel tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, sweet peppers from excess and cut into medium pieces;
  4. Place vegetables in a frying pan and add vegetable oil to them. Fry them for 3 minutes;
  5. Place the champignons in a saucepan, add cool water and boil for about 5-8 minutes. Then we take them out and cut them into slices;

  • Armenian lavash - 6 pcs. (you can use corn tortillas)
  • Ketchup - 2 tbsp. spoons
  • Mayonnaise - 1 tbsp. spoon
  • Pepper

Before starting cooking, I suggest preparing all the ingredients, since the frying process will take 2-3 minutes for each ingredient. Burrito is a dish for those who love creativity, so don’t limit yourself in choosing ingredients - try something new. If something is not at hand, replace it. Preparing a burrito can be divided into 2 stages: preparing the filling and directly folding the burrito envelopes.

Burrito making process

  1. Peel the onion and cut into half rings. Boiled chicken breast fillet - cubes. Sweet pepper - medium pieces. Finely chop the parsley. Tomatoes - cut into cubes. Grate the cheese. Finely chop the garlic. If the mushrooms are fresh, cut them crosswise into thin slices, but if they are canned, cut into pieces, then you don’t need to do anything.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. Fry the onion. Add finely chopped garlic and fry it all for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add chicken, stir and fry for 2-3 minutes. You should get a mass like in the photo on the right
