From the first cleaning to a large-scale project
The volunteer project “360” (formerly “360 minutes”) began in 2011. Then 100 Irkutskenergo employees went to Baikal and cleaned the coast, collecting 500 bags of garbage. After the one-time event, the participants saw that this was an important and necessary cause. Since 2012, we began to conduct large-scale volunteer events on the territory of Lake Baikal and created open registration so that not only employees and members of their families, but also anyone could participate.
The project grew, new types of volunteer activities were added, and more participants appeared. During the development of the project, 144,500 people became volunteers and collected 4,500 tons of garbage. In addition to cleaning, the project includes various types of volunteer activities: construction of ecological trails, planting trees and landscaping, installation of picnic areas for responsible tourism.
We have also added environmental education - we are conducting an information campaign on social networks and doing special projects with the media. We talk about caring for nature and the importance of an eco-friendly lifestyle so that more and more people understand this need.

This year, the project is being implemented in six cities where the company operates - Irkutsk, Bratsk, Ust-Ilimsk, Divnogorsk, Miass and Nizhny Novgorod. Volunteers from municipalities located directly near Lake Baikal will also participate.
Due to restrictions related to the risk of spreading coronavirus infection, on September 5, the anniversary eco-action will be held on the banks of reservoirs and recreation areas within the city. Participants get to them on their own, and groups of volunteers are divided into two streams: from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 14:30 to 17:30. This is necessary to limit the number of participants on site at one time and maintain social distancing. Of course, all volunteers are provided with personal protective equipment - masks and antiseptics.
In Irkutsk, volunteers will work on Teplye Lakes and the hydroelectric dam, in the area of Lake Kvadrat and on Konny Island, on the banks of Ushakovka and Gagarin Boulevard. On Baikal, municipalities will join the project - local residents will come out to clean up.

Before each event we are asked: why limit the number of participants by registration, because the more people come, the better? The fact is that when conducting such events, we are responsible for each person. To make participation in the project comfortable for everyone, we prepare equipment and organize meals. There are always doctors present at the points. Plus, we are preparing a set of volunteers for everyone, who stays with them as a memory. To ensure there is enough for everyone, we count on a certain number of people.
This year registration is especially important. We make sure that there are no crowds of people, provide instructions and provide equipment within the framework of maintaining social distance.

There is another unmistakable sign to understand whether a man has any interest in a woman or not. They have already been joined by thousands of concerned residents of the territories where the project events are taking place. There are also honorary volunteers who will participate this year for the 8th, 9th and even 10th time. We see keen interest - confirmation that the project is in demand, and this inspires us to develop it.
