Although this is a fairly low-calorie product, it contains a fairly large amount of carbohydrates and sugar, so we do not recommend enjoying it right before bed; it is better to wait until the morning.

It’s better to drink warm water with a drop of honey, kefir, warm tea or milk, this will not harm your health or figure, but rather the opposite.

If the feeling of hunger does not go away and you cannot sleep unless you have a snack, then this type of citrus fruit is one of the best options (much better than cutlets, a sandwich, and the like).

Firstly, it is rich in fiber, which promotes the passage of food through the intestines, cleanses it of waste and toxins, and also gives a feeling of satiety. Secondly, this fruit contains fibers that inhibit the processes of rotting and fermentation. Some diet websites claim that drinking orange juice for weight loss is strictly necessary. They say that this is the healthiest product in the world and you simply cannot live without it. In fact, replacing your morning coffee with juice will not make you thinner. As well as replacing cola with juice. Or beer juice. Healthier is possible.

But calories always remain calories, and if your goal is to lose weight, the inclusion of a particular product in your diet should be based on three criteria. The product is not harmful to health. And you personally like the product. And you don't "rip" your calorie matrix with it by uncontrollably consuming juice, or whatever.

Natural fresh is a good drink, but with its own specifics of use.

Why orange juice is not a superfood for weight loss

Juices are considered a less promising source of vitamins than fruits, at least from the point of view of modern nutrition.

First of all, they contain a decent amount of fructose, and even glucose, if we are talking about packaged juice - a product of the modern food chemical industry.

Words like “organic corn syrup” shouldn’t be misleading either. If this is written on the package, it contains sugar, no matter how beautiful and orange the juice may seem.

By drinking juice, you, of course, get vitamin C. And also a hefty portion of simple carbohydrates, which are immediately absorbed by the body and increase blood sugar levels. This is why drinkers, instead of eating fiber-rich oranges, suffer from appetite and mood swings.

The conclusion is that if you can avoid drinking juice, eat oranges. Well, or drink juice, if it doesn’t increase your appetite, you hate oranges, you count calories well and without cheating, and you’re not inclined to drink a whole liter of healthy liquid.

Diets with orange juice for weight loss

What you definitely shouldn’t do is go on a diet consisting of only orange juice. Even fresh juice with pulp is almost the worst idea for eating. Again, fast carbs equal almost always a lack of satiety, and an increased risk of overeating.

And those who like to drink a lot of citrus juices run the risk of developing a “blooming” rash of allergic origin. Of course, all this can be avoided if you drink juice wisely.

Orange juice for weight loss as a source of antioxidants

In the modern world, it is generally accepted that vitamin C and other antioxidants are such a big magic pill for excess weight. The simple fact is that millions of overweight people eat low-fat toast and a glass of orange juice for breakfast. The weight, however, is not lost. In fact, the connection between antioxidants in the diet and weight loss is more indirect than direct.

The person who consumes large quantities of fruits and vegetables will eat more of these substances. Such people usually have significantly lower caloric intake, simply due to large portions of low-calorie foods. Again, these people are, on average, slimmer than those who give up fruits and vegetables. It is this connection that is shown by numerous studies of juice antioxidants for weight loss.

And there is also a commercial product, which is “soluble” orange juice, reminiscent of the legend of the nineties of the last century, the drink “Yupi”. This “juice” supposedly has a fat-burning effect.

In fact, you drink it before meals, and it acts much like a glass of water with a spoon of honey - it slightly increases blood sugar levels, suppresses your appetite, and creates the illusion of satiety when you sit down at the table. This is exactly what is meant, most often by “orange or orange juice for weight loss.” It is produced mainly by the Chinese, according to distributors, from natural ingredients.

How to Include Orange Juice in Your Diet for Healthy Weight Loss

The most radical nutritionists, as you understand, say that it is better to exclude it, at least until you lose weight and learn to control yourself. The most that dieters can do is add 1-2 tablespoons of marinade to meat/fish or add it to a salad full of fibrous vegetables.

However, in many countries, the notorious juice is such a common component of the morning diet that without it, breakfast seems somehow meager. What about those who can’t refuse a glass of fresh juice? Master the right combinations of foods that are more filling than usual:

  • do not eat sweet cereals, fruit salads, cookies with sugar, baked goods with sugar (no matter whether homemade or industrial), various dried fruits and sweet berries from compote at the same time as juice;
  • Do not drink it with desserts, chocolate, sweet curds and cottage cheese with a high starch content. In general, it is better to eat sweets not at the first, but at the second meal, if you need them so much;
  • Do not drink instant porridges with juice, even if they are “for weight loss” and purchased at a pharmacy. Such foods often contain fructose, and you don't need a double hit of simple carbohydrates early in the morning;
  • do not eat the classic breakfast of juice and white bread toast;
  • In general, it is better to combine the juice with eggs, cottage cheese, an omelet, or even a few pieces of cheese and ham. Protein foods inhibit the absorption of simple carbohydrates, and satiety will “last” longer.

You can use juice to “close” the so-called “carbohydrate window,” that is, to prevent catabolic processes in muscles after intense training. However, it is useful to know that morning jogging, an hour of aerobics or home yoga with a video are not such workouts.

Juices are usually drunk after a sufficient amount of glycogen-depleting strength training, or in the case of anaerobic training for a sprinter. This trick has very little to do with losing weight. If you are a first-year enthusiast, again, it is better to avoid such recipes.

All this is not necessary for losing weight, but in order to ensure maximum performance during training.
