What is behind a happy marriage

Zhanna Badoeva: I am always for the beauty that I like

Zhanna Badoeva told Sobesednik.ru why she left the show “Heads and Tails” and how she lives in sunny Italy.

TV presenter of the show “#Zhannamarried” on the channel “Friday!” It is difficult to catch Zhanna Badoeva in one place. She is always at work and traveling. This, however, did not stop her from finding personal happiness. A year ago, Zhanna married a Ukrainian working in Italy, and now lives in this sunny country. We talked to the star about travel, life in Europe and her large family.

Traveled to a hundred countries

[:rsame:]

– Zhanna, where are you now and what are you doing?

– I just finished filming the program “#Zhannapozheni”, which took place in Slovenia. Now I’m resting at home for two days, and then I’m flying to Sri Lanka and will return home only in two and a half weeks.

– Is your home now in Italy?

– Yes, I’ve been living here for two years now, and so have my children – Borya and Lolita. This place is located 20 kilometers from Venice.

– With the project “Heads and Tails” you have traveled probably half the world. Are there any countries left that you dream of returning to?

– The word “dream” in relation to travel has probably lost its relevance for me. Although I haven't been to very many countries. There are 280 states in the world, but I have only seen 100, so I still have to travel and travel. I would like to go back and show my children Peru and America, not all of it, but New York for sure. I love megacities, a scale that cannot be conveyed, and New York takes my breath away.

– Your profession is perceived as a holiday. Does it have a downside?

- Of course, there is, but it is difficult to understand for people who are not familiar with it, and I am not trying to explain to anyone how difficult it can be for me. I can never relax and just sit or walk, observe, contemplate. We always have a very strict rhythm. It doesn't matter if I'm sick or just got off a 12-hour flight. I have to smile on camera and convey information to the audience. Another disadvantage is that I rarely see my family. Although when I taught acting at the institute and didn’t go anywhere, every evening I came home exhausted, and all I needed was to lie down and not talk.

– Why did you leave the project?

– When it all started – and the project was invented for me and I recruited the team myself – everything was done with enthusiasm. Nobody knew how to shoot, how to behave on camera, and so on, but we had a creative spirit, we were looking for something of our own. At the end of the third season, I realized that I was bored, my adventurism had disappeared, it was clear how to film and what to do. Then I decided to go and try myself in other formats and genres.

Italian bread test

– As the host of the “Battle of Salons” program (“Friday!”), can you give advice to our readers?

– I am always for the beauty that I like. I am against fashionable innovations and use only those things that suit me personally. I don’t care if it’s trendy or not. I advise you not to chase fashion, but to listen to yourself.

– Do you often visit salons?

– Because of my work, I cannot constantly visit salons. But when the opportunity arises, of course, I go. With flights, when it’s snowing, then hot, your hair goes crazy, it needs treatment. The skin also dries out, and it also needs to be nourished. And although I take half a suitcase of cosmetics with me, I don’t neglect salon care.

– When you come to the salon, what do you pay attention to?

– In general, I don’t go to the salon, but to the master. I don’t change my masters. For example, I have been using the services of a hairdresser for 11 years. I can’t trust my hair and skin to a stranger. If I find myself in an unfamiliar place and with unfamiliar people, I always jokingly ask how they sterilize their instruments.

– You started talking about health, how do you maintain it? Do you play sports?

– I don’t have enough time for sports, but to be honest, I can’t stand it. Dancing and yoga are more suitable for me as physical activity. I try not to eat fast food, even despite my schedule. When I'm on set, I always have water and dried fruits on hand. I don’t eat fatty foods and avoid fried foods. For example, in Bavaria I ate boiled rather than fried sausages. I also try to restrain myself when it comes to bread. Although in Italy it is divinely delicious and for me this is a real test. But I don’t limit myself to coffee. I'm a coffee lover.

Love at second sight

– How did you meet your husband?

– It was three years ago. Our group was filming in Italy, and we went to the place where we were choosing a car. Our consultant, a local resident, was with us. There I first saw and met Vasily. I didn’t even remember it visually then. And then my friend invited me to Venice for her birthday, and we met again. This meeting was decisive. I spent one day with him, and everything became clear to me, and a year later we got married.

– You don’t see each other often...

[:rsame:]

- Well, how infrequently? In August there is a holiday throughout Italy, and he was with me on the set for the whole month. Now, when they were filming in Slovenia - it’s only 250 km from our home - he also came to see me for one day.

– Did you also transport the children to Italy?

– The children have been going to an Italian school for two years now. Bori has excellent English and was able to communicate straight away. His Italian is also excellent now. My son generally has a gift for languages: he is also studying French, German and Latin. My daughter first went to classes with a tutor, who translated for her, and now she also speaks Italian.

– What is your relationship with Italian?

– I’m the only one in my family who doesn’t speak Italian. Of course, I can order a cup of coffee, but that’s not enough. As soon as I have more time, I will definitely teach. In the meantime, I joke that I have three personal translators at home.

/Our information

• Zhanna Badoeva was born in Lithuania. When the girl turned 18, her family moved to Kyiv. Zhanna graduated from a construction university, after which she entered the directing department at the Institute of Film and Television. The talented graduate was noticed and invited to teach acting at the institute.

• She was the director of popular shows on the Ukrainian channel “1+1”. Popularity came from her participation as a host in the travel show “Heads and Tails.”

• Zhanna has two children from two previous marriages. For 9 years she was married to the famous director Alan Badoev. Current husband Vasily works in the fashion industry.

Personal life of Zhanna Badoeva

Zhanna Badoeva spent two years of marriage with her first man and gave birth to a son, Boris. But the marriage was not successful: sophomore Zhanna was left alone with a child in her arms and went to live with her parents. In one of the interviews, Zhanna said that her husband simply kicked her out the door without any means of subsistence. The reason was Zhanna’s desire to develop professionally, and not become a housewife.

“When Boris was born, a very long-awaited, desired child for us, somehow everything coincided: seven years of marriage, the birth of our first son (although my husband has a daughter from his first marriage, but his son is his first), and my admission to college . Bora was only eight months old when I started directing. My personal growth began - both as a mother and as a woman, because before that I was completely under the care of my husband, a completely obedient child, and his opinion was fundamental for me. And then I had my own opinion, I came from the institute with my own vision of some issues. And Igor is such a person: he is very strong, but as a man, he must be not just number one, but the only one. Of course, this period was very difficult, there was a whole bunch of all sorts of problems, but first of all, my husband could not come to terms with the fact that he had ceased to be the only authority for me. As a result, he set a condition for me - either I leave the institute, or we get a divorce. I chose the institute, to be honest, not fully believing that Igor would fulfill his promise. But he kept it."

The second husband was the famous director and music video director Alan Badoev. They met at the institute, got married and were married for 9 years. During this time, they raised Zhanna’s son from Boris’s first marriage together, and a few years later their daughter Lolita was born. In 2012, fans of the Badoevs were shocked by the news of the couple’s divorce. Zhanna Badoeva commented on this and said that love had passed. However, the ex-spouses remain on cordial terms, and Alan has repeatedly said that Zhanna is the best woman in his life.

Since 2020, Zhanna Badoeva has been married to businessman Vasily Melnichin. He lives and works in Italy, so after the wedding, Zhanna and her children were forced to move in with her husband. Zhanna admits that Vasily conquered her with his sincerity.

Zhanna Badoeva: the most delicious food is in a cafe for locals!

Zhanna Badoeva became popular thanks to the sensational project “Heads and Tails.” While filming the program, she had to travel halfway around the world. She decided to share tips with travelers who are going abroad. Zhanna paid special attention to exotic countries, when traveling to which you need to be fully prepared.

– What should you think about in advance when planning the place and time for travel?

— It is important for each of us that the trip brings a lot of pleasant impressions and is remembered for a lifetime. My family, when choosing a country and time to travel, is guided by what we want to get this time - quietly sunbathing on the beach or spending the whole day sightseeing, raiding delicious restaurants or skiing. When we go on vacation with our children, it’s one thing; when we go on vacation with my husband, it’s another. When choosing a resort, we always pay attention to climate, food and safety.

Remember that ideas about places with a climate suitable for sunbathing and swimming are not always true. For example, in Thailand, which Russian tourists adore precisely for its beach holidays, the rainy season begins in September and lasts until the end of November. The air and water temperatures are very comfortable, but there is a good chance you will spend your entire vacation under an umbrella. Or the island of Bali, where I was in December filming the project “Zhanna Marry”: at an ideal temperature, it also rained there all the time - so much so that no one swam. And once I found myself in the United Arab Emirates in July, when even local residents were trying to leave the country - the temperature reached 50 degrees Celsius. All this is due to ignorance, because I became an experienced traveler later.

By the way, take into account the climate factor when traveling to Europe. For example, in Milan, Verona and Venice in winter the temperature practically never drops below +5 and the weather is quite comfortable for walking. At the same time, there may be a minus in Prague or Budapest. Or Paris. When you think about spring in Paris, you immediately imagine gatherings in street cafes, the smell of fresh baked goods and your favorite coffee, blooming violets, and walking in elegant shoes. This is in dreams, but in reality, once in the “city of lovers” in March, I found it so damp and so cold that I had to wrap myself up in winter clothes. Europe is different, and this is worth taking into account.

— Where do you recommend looking for travel information?

— Firstly, these are forums for travel enthusiasts, where people ask questions, preparing for meetings with new countries, share their travel impressions, and publish photo reports. Their advantage is that here you can find a sea of up-to-date practical information: how to get there, where to stay, eat and find a doctor if necessary, how to plan a route around the country, what to see. Disadvantages - the subjectivity of each impression: what one person liked, another may not like.

Secondly, guidebooks. If on forums you have to spend time searching for data in different branches and sections, then the book contains under one cover all the information about the destination, from natural conditions and ways to save money when buying tickets to unpromoted places and free days in museums. The famous series of Lonely Planet guidebooks has already published hundreds of books in English and dozens in Russian. They make it convenient to plan independent travel: they tell you in detail about transport, hotels, cafes and restaurants, and always give you a choice of places to suit different tastes and budgets.

Guidebooks have one serious drawback: they become outdated very quickly. In just a couple of years, a clean and inexpensive hotel mentioned in a guidebook may, due to the influx of tourists, change its price category and quality of service, and the food and service in a highly praised cafe may deteriorate. Therefore, pay attention to the year of publication of the book: the newer, the better!

And I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t recommend travel TV programs. Today, in addition to beautiful pictures from exotic countries, they tell you how to survive and enjoy them.

– Do you need to collect information in advance about the quality of housing, water, food and other things that await you on the spot?

Certainly! As they say, forewarned is forearmed, especially when it comes to our health. Take the time to read reviews and comments about the resort, your hotel, local food and water before leaving. Someone scolds China: they say there is nothing to eat there, everything is tasteless and you can get poisoned. But when I was in Beijing, I enjoyed visiting restaurants, both cheap and expensive, and everything was fine. And all because I went to trusted places recommended either by local residents or tourists.

Before traveling to Peru, I read on travel forums that in some areas of the country it is not recommended to even wash your face with tap water, let alone brush your teeth. I had to buy it constantly, but despite this, I was delighted with Peru and plan to return there. And in Verona, Venice and many other European cities, I drink water not only from the tap, but also from drinking fountains on the streets, and nothing will happen to me. Always find out such points in advance, especially if you are going to a new place or traveling with children.

— By the way, about the last one. What points should you pay attention to if you are going on a trip with children?

— A trip with children requires careful preparation. One of the most important points is the first aid kit! Remember that when traveling, there may not always be a doctor nearby, especially a qualified one, and there will not always be the medications that are suitable for your child.

Now my children are already adults, they pack their own suitcases, but they listen to recommendations. For trips when Lolita and Boris were very small, I stocked up on toys, cartoons, and things for a comfortable flight for children, such as pillows and a special cradle. And, of course, a first aid kit.

— How to choose places to eat?

— In Europe, we always pay attention to the places where the locals eat - as a rule, they are good and inexpensive, and they definitely won’t poison “our own people.” I follow this rule even in recognized gourmet countries.

So, in Italy, whose cuisine is making waves all over the world, not all tourist establishments are wonderful. Chefs often cook carelessly, and the service is lame. And recently my husband took me to a restaurant in Venice. The establishment looked so shabby and untidy that I asked my husband: “Vasya, are we really going to eat here?” But it turned out that the food there is divine! And only local residents gather there; tourists have no idea about it.

In the countries of Asia and Africa, the situation is different: here you can get poisoned even where food is safe for local residents. Therefore, in Cambodia, I ate only in European-style restaurants and chose cafes with an open kitchen. This is important, especially if you have children with you.

— If you have no choice, and you only know about one cafe in the place where you find yourself, what should you do?

I will never stop where there is no choice. You can always eat at the hotel - it’s a little expensive, but it’s proven! Instead, take the initiative and ask the locals where you can get a good and safe meal nearby. You can go to the store and buy fruit, water and nuts for a light snack. If you have children with you, then fruit or chocolate is also a great option. And then go in search of a suitable cafe. Once I even refused to stay in a very good hotel after I found out that there was not a single decent establishment in the area, and there were big problems with food.

-What is always a must-have when traveling?

My friend jokes that all you need for a good trip is a passport and a wallet with money, but I don’t listen to her. I always take with me a cosmetic bag with skincare products and a first aid kit, where I put first aid medications - hydrogen peroxide, antiseptic, bandages and ointments in case of cuts or bruises, plasters if I rub my leg or get hurt, medicines for poisoning and probiotics to help the intestines. It was a lesson for me to be on one of my trips without medication. The son then cut himself badly on the beach, and there were no doctors around, no medicine in the hotel or from vacationers. The nearest pharmacy was 10 kilometers away, so I had to take a taxi and go there. Since then, the first aid kit goes into the suitcase first.

-What else, besides a well-thought-out first aid kit, does an experienced traveler always carry with him?

I dare to count myself among those! I always have with me a bottle of water, glasses, a hat, comfortable shoes, a backpack, documents and a phone with the apps I need for traveling – maps, guides, restaurant recommendations – downloaded.

— What can you recommend to those who are going to an exotic “wild” place?

The most important thing is to be attentive and careful. Many, in pursuit of vivid sensations, get behind the wheel of an ATV for the first time, immediately go on an excursion on it and get injured. The standard medical insurance issued to you by a travel agency will not work in this case, and you will have to receive treatment at your own expense. Or a favorite topic among young people is to take a bike on vacation in Thailand. Having seen how the locals drove, I was afraid not only to rent a vehicle, but even to get into a taxi. On vacation, although I am relaxed, I always exercise caution in everything from food to sightseeing.

A separate story with insects, animals and other inhabitants of exotic countries. I can’t stand monkeys, and during filming in Bali, we were even given special slingshots at the hotel to protect ourselves from them - there were cases when a pack of banderlogs attacked a person, robbed him and beat him. After such stories, I didn’t even want to leave the room. If there are snakes on the hotel premises, the staff should warn you about it, and special signs should be placed on the premises. Use special ointments and sprays against insects that can carry infection. If you want to go into the jungle, do it with trusted guides. Before diving into the pool, take another look to see if any living creatures are already swimming there.

Don't eat anything that makes you suspicious or distrustful, especially in Asia, where they cook everything from grasshoppers to cockroaches. It can be as tasty as you like, but the reaction of your body to such experiments is a big question. Do not drink water unless the bottle is sealed.

— What to do if, after you’ve already had a snack, you realize that food or water is suspect?

Sometimes it happens. Once in India, my daughter and I decided to eat in one of the cafes. It looked very nice, the aroma of the dishes lingered throughout the area, and there were quite a few people sitting in it. After eating, Lolita went to the toilet, which was located behind the kitchen. I went with her, and then I had a real shock! I saw that dishes were washed and rinsed in basins, in the same water, without changing it. And a local boy, away from prying eyes, filled untreated water into plastic bottles and “sealed” them with a lighter. All the visitors thought it was bottled store-bought water, but they could not even imagine how far from the truth they were...

At that moment, I became afraid for Lola and I: my rich imagination began to paint me pictures of a ruined vacation and health, but, fortunately, I had Bifiform in my medicine cabinet * - a probiotic that helps maintain the balance of healthy intestinal microflora. It can be used both for the prevention of gastrointestinal disorders and for treatment. I believe that on vacation, especially in such situations, it is irreplaceable. Then we didn’t get sick, and it’s just a miracle! But I returned from India much thinner - after this incident we only ate fruit.
