What kind of makeup do men like?
Cosmetics have long become something of a cult object for a woman, a magic wand that can instantly make her life better and bring her closer to her cherished harmony with herself . It is no coincidence that most women are ready to give up using cosmetics only if they no longer have enough money for food. What goals are women trying to achieve? First of all, to attract the attention of men. An interesting observation from TSC researchers: the higher a woman’s social security, the less makeup she wears.
To support this theory, according to TSC, a tiny minority of men respond to the question “What kind of women do you like?” put bright makeup in first place. “You are perfectly unmade up today,” sounds ridiculous and out-of-date coming from a man’s lips. The attention of the stronger half should be achieved not by external effects, but by the ability to properly build relationships . Moreover, most men, paradoxically, prefer women with a minimum amount of decoration. According to numerous sociological surveys, perhaps the most repulsive female habit is a large amount of makeup on the face.

A clean, fresh, radiant face and the necessary minimum of makeup are a symbol of the new sexual revolution. And not scarlet lips or cat-like arrows with a ponytail on the eyes. This theory is also confirmed by scientists from Bangor University in North Wales: men are turned on by natural “washed” beauty . To reach these conclusions, the researchers asked 44 women aged 18 to 35 to wear makeup as if they were going to a party where they planned to meet an interesting man. And they photographed the participants before and after the final result. Then the participants of the experiment of the opposite sex were shown the frames, and they chose in which form they liked the woman more. Result: 69% of men not only chose photographs of girls in the most natural form, but also called the nude image “more well-groomed” and even “exciting . They explained their choice by the fact that, contrary to women’s assumptions about individuality, makeup completely deprives them of their “zest.” The nude look fashion has already been supported by stars all over the world on social networks, posting their portraits with minimal makeup (or no makeup at all) for everyone to see and attracting hundreds of thousands of likes and enthusiastic comments, including from the stronger sex.

Japanese sociologist Mo Kurimbokus adds: “Many men are greatly aroused by kissing, and passionately kissing a woman with makeup and then taking a long time to wipe the remnants of makeup from her face is a dubious pleasure. It is much more pleasant to touch clean and soft skin. So makeup can not so much attract a man as repel him. In addition, men like soft, “cozy” women who look as natural as possible. It's very exciting."

Makeup through the eyes of men
Hello everyone, Anton Repey is with you and I am glad to see each of you!
Waking up the next morning, I headed to the bathroom.
There, putting one foot on the edge of the bathtub, methodically working with my right hand and my left, trying to sleepily close a tube of toothpaste that, despite all my silent pleas, did not want to close - I suddenly understood!
I already dropped my toothbrush.
My morning wasn't that difficult. Well, it's true!
How little time a man needs to get ready. I woke up, performed a cleansing ritual, ate, got dressed and hit the road.
There is time and news to read and think about the coming day, or not to think about anything, in general, to spend time usefully.
How are things going with the fair half of humanity? I think everyone knows that girls need to get up early and, if possible, go to bed early. And what is it all for?
I can’t even imagine a life where every morning I have to paint a picture, using my face instead of a canvas, and not paints, but expensive cosmetics.
Of course, not everyone does this, there are exceptions, but one way or another, most women's mornings mostly consist of putting on makeup. Is this true or not?
Makeup! What does he represent in the eyes of a man?
Of course, this is a difficult question, which I will try to partially answer.
I’ll say right away that men don’t understand cosmetics, I don’t know how much it costs, or what it should be. We see the end result of women's labors and efforts.
Is this effort necessary? Yes, of course, I’ll be honest, not everyone looks the way they themselves would like without makeup, let alone men.
Secrets of professional men's makeup
Of course, in everyday life, men do not use eye shadow, mascara or lipstick. The main products for professional men's makeup used on special occasions are:
- moisturizer with a tinted effect, which is necessary to prepare the face for the application of subsequent cosmetics and at the same time moisturize it, improving its texture;
- camouflage tone, which allows you to hide skin imperfections such as acne, redness and swelling;
- powder or mattifying powder, with its help you can make your complexion more even and flawless, eliminate excess grease and shine;
- in some cases, eyebrow shadows are used, especially in cases where a man’s eyebrows need adjustment or do not match the hair color;
- Natural lip balms are most often used in theatrical makeup or for public speaking. They help make the natural tone of the lips brighter.
When creating an image, the main rule is its inconspicuousness and almost complete identity with natural shades, otherwise the man’s face will look unnatural or even ridiculous. This is why the answer to the question of which cosmetics to choose is so important.

Pavel, 36 years old: “For every day, such makeup is probably too much. But for a holiday or for going somewhere - very much so. Looks beautiful and sexy. It turns out such an alluring and seductive look. I like".
Alexander, 24 years old: “I really like it when girls wear makeup like that. But under one condition: when they know how to do it and the makeup looks neat, and not like paint that has spread around the eyes after the rain.”
Professional men's makeup: video and photo sessions
Perhaps it is photo shoots and professional video filming that require the mandatory use of makeup. It's no secret that a face without makeup in photographs and videos does not always look attractive. It is precisely in order to highlight the model’s advantages that they use men’s makeup for a photo shoot. Typically more intense than regular makeup, shadows, blushes, lip glosses, bronzers and eyeliners can be used as needed or to create a specific look.
Sometimes, with the help of foundation creams, it is necessary not only to hide large pores or facial skin defects, but, for example, to disguise scars, severe age spots or tattoos. Today you can easily learn the basic steps to create any male look and male makeup videos that are freely available on the Internet: from ordinary natural makeup to extravagant and exotic looks, more suitable for costume parties or carnivals.
Which makeup attracts men and which scares them off?
Men are not very creative people, so many makeup trends are not entirely to their liking. But what can we say if red lipstick is “too much” for many people?
No matter how much we women want, men advocate naturalness. And here the brunettes are lucky. They have naturally dark eyebrows and eyelashes, you just need to shade your face and lips a little and you are a beauty.
With blondes and redheads it's more complicated. To avoid looking like a moth, women have to add color. But this must be done skillfully and discreetly.
In general, a loving man admires even a sleeping woman, without an ounce of makeup. But what to do if there is none yet? Let's figure out what to do and what not to do.
Red lipstick.
There is a lot of controversy about it. Men are divided into two camps when it comes to bright lipstick. Some people are very attracted to this and arouse certain desires and interest, while others, on the contrary, are scared away. The second one thinks that if a woman chooses red lipstick, it means she is aggressive.
But we know that this is not at all true! Besides, choosing a red lipstick that really suits you is very difficult! And it’s a little disappointing when you search for a long time and find it, but the man doesn’t appreciate it. But let’s attribute this to the fact that not all men follow fashion and the concept of “trend” and “style” is an empty phrase for them.
But definitely, male conquerors will definitely appreciate a woman’s look if it includes red lipstick.
Evening makeup during the day
Men consider this an excess. Why put so much stuff on your face? Even if the makeup is done very carefully and by a stylist. You don’t have a professional photo shoot every day, why complicate it? Evening makeup is done for the evening, hence its name.
During the day, lighter makeup is suitable. It is enough to highlight the eyes, cheekbones and lips.
Arrows
Here, men are probably divided into two camps, just like with bright lipstick. But it is worth noting that arrows are different from arrows. Neat and unnoticeable - why not. Its task is to highlight the eye, and not to strike the eye.
And in evening makeup - why not.
Eyelash extensions
Yes, yes, it's convenient. We know. But again, men love naturalness. If you are getting eyelash extensions, don't do spider legs.
Make less volume and length, let the eyelashes look natural.
Brows
Oh, this eyebrow fashion. Men don't understand her at all. Don't overdo it with eyebrow styling and growing.
Choose naturalness.
Accuracy
In makeup, the main thing is to make your face look neat. There is nothing to say here. Make sure that your lips do not smear and the arrow does not run. Untidy makeup turns men off.
Face tone
It’s easier in the summer when there is at least a light tan on the skin. In winter it is more difficult. Use foundation and blush. But don't overdo it.
Always be beautiful, dear women!
Details
How to choose the right color? Focus on the roots of your hair - this shade will be ideal. Shade a little of the selected product so that the eyebrows do not weigh down the face, and apply a transparent gel. All! Let's move on to the eyes. – You can apply a little sculptor, bronzer or blush into the crease of the eyelid - this will slightly correct the shape of the eyes and add contrast,
– Elizabeth advises.
– Don’t forget about the lower eyelid!
And if you apply a little highlighter to the inner corner of your eye, your look will look fresher. After this, apply mascara in a zigzag motion, thoroughly coloring the eyelashes at the roots. We highlight the lips with nude lipstick or gloss. Voila - natural makeup is ready!

Opinion Why natural makeup makes us hate ourselves
Text: Roxana Kiseleva
If just a couple of years ago, under the slogan of “natural beauty,” we were sold a three-piece eyebrow set, false mink eyelashes and another Naked palette, now the discipline of “natural makeup” has been significantly simplified: we are offered new generation foundations with the most delicate coverage for the whole story, and “just leave the rest as is.” The sources of inspiration, however, have not changed: goddesses with perfect skin, sharp cheekbones and neat lips still look from advertising posters. While in real life few of us wake up with combed eyebrows and a delicate blush, nude products continue to insist that we are somehow obliged to create such an illusion every day.

We are now expected to feign indifference to avoid the image of “trying too hard.”
Just yesterday, when providing clients with super-resistant eyebrow lipstick, marketers were in a certain sense more honest, “allowing” women to draw at least something on their faces; now we are expected to feign indifference to avoid the image of “trying too hard.” In the 1980s, a line of nude products designed for women who didn't want to hide their true colors became a best-seller—and it was a small victory, an opportunity for new choices. But time has passed, and the modern “norm” leaves no choice: makeup should be light, transparent, smooth and absolutely invisible.
This carefully organized “negligence” is in many ways an imitation of the famous French non-chalance. iD recently published a column about the fashion for “French girls,” which, it seems, never happened here. In the perception of most Russian women, a Parisian woman is a coquette from a marshmallow advertisement; and America, which gave the world veneers and the profession of Instagram celebrity, today is crazy about the naturalness and ease of French women. If the recent craze was the notorious “on fleek” (which roughly means “flawless”) - eyebrows on fleek, arrows on fleek, lips on fleek - now American women want the same thing, only “like a French girl.” “French style” is no longer a story about fashion and beauty, but literally a lifestyle for sale - although, of course, these idealized images have little in common with reality.
More than one brand has grown up in the field of the idea of “natural beauty” - for example, Becca has become famous for the best products for creating the “ideal” look of skin. The inspiration for Urban Decay, which gave the world the famous Naked palettes (and in many ways the very idea of a “naked” face), can safely be called the Ultima II brand with their The New Nakeds series. Positioned as the luxury arm of Revlon, the brand initially specialized in luxury skincare and, under the creative vision of Kevin Ecoan, launched the first “no makeup makeup” line in the early eighties.
These were brown lipsticks and foundations with the widest range of shades, from alabaster to chocolate. Having successfully launched, the brand actually died before the popularity of the similar Urban Decay line: either American women did not want to wear makeup “for themselves,” or the technical capabilities of that time did not allow them to fulfill the promises made to customers - Ultima II moved from expensive department stores to drag stores , and by the beginning of the 2000s they had completely settled in Asia. It is there that the idea of “natural beauty” is stronger today than ever: everyone strives for a very clearly defined ideal that they must live up to.

Thanks to the fact that the foundation no longer looks like gouache, it is normal to look “more natural” than before
A lot has changed since the days when François Nars' transparent skin makeup was considered rebellious. Including from the technical side: due to the fact that the foundation no longer looks like gouache, it is normal to look “more natural” than before. We have learned to blend foundation to zero, masterfully imitate both a winter blush and a California tan at the same time, but for some reason all this remains the basis, mandatory for everyone. If the whole point of natural makeup is about the importance of self-love and the beauty of the soul instead of glorifying the beauty of the body, then why does it make everyone look equally unrealistic?
A similar story has already happened once with the idea of “youth”: marketers actively appeal to youth, apparently characterizing the early twenties as the best time in a woman’s life. In fact, we look “gorgeous” before the first pimples, that is, until we are twelve years old, and even better, until we are five. Many people still remember what skin is like during puberty: in press releases for life-giving masks it is usually called “subject to constant stress.” Unstable hormonal levels, lack of interest in care, insomnia, a wine diet - this is what the life of more than one young girl consists of, and all of this leaves its mark. The beauty industry offers us, with the help of cosmetics, to regain the “peach freshness” that most of us have not had time to see and appreciate.
The idea of giving up cosmetics, or carefully imitating it, has been discussed again quite recently: a makeup tutorial inspired by Alicia Keys on the YouTube channel of the American “Voice” caused a wide resonance. The catch is that the singer herself refused to wear makeup and her own “fresh-faced look” is fresh in the literal sense: you are unlikely to find even transparent mascara in the singer’s new cosmetic bag. The usual nude is just another type of makeup that sells well and whose promotion, as always, is implicated in our fears and complexes. Does your face look “imperfect” without makeup? Apply this weightless tone and blend the bronzer. A “bare” face is just another unrealistic standard. So once again, spending a third of the morning in front of the mirror, depicting the “lack” of makeup on our face, it’s worth thinking: do we really like it? Perhaps we would like to spend this time on something that will tell about our individuality, and not fit it into a faceless average denominator.
