Friends, great greetings to everyone! Vladimir Raichev is with you, today I read an interesting article about how an 11-year-old boy killed his stepmother in the USA. The boy was imprisoned for life, but I thought about the fact that girls are essentially defenseless against bullies, and today we will look at self-defense for girls.
The most important thing is to take your route choice seriously in order to exclude those places where hooligans might be waiting for you. By the way, I would definitely exclude this road of death from my route.
But first, let's talk about how Jordan Brown became the youngest convicted lifer. Let me remind you that at the time of the crime he was 11 years old.
Youngest life sentenced offender
Jordan shot his father's pregnant fiancée, who was quite advanced in pregnancy; unfortunately, the bride and child could not be saved. Early in the morning, Jordan got ready for school, took his father’s hunting rifle with him, went into his future stepmother’s bedroom and cold-bloodedly shot her in the back of the head while she was quietly sleeping.
Then he got rid of the gun and calmly went to school. Why did Jordan kill Kenzie Hawke? Everything is very simple: the boy’s mother abandoned him, and he was left alone with his father. Only Jordan received all his father's attention.
Then Kenzie came into their lives, who had two girls of her own and was preparing to give birth to Jordan's father another child. The guy had little attention, he was stressed.
The question arises as to how the child received a life sentence without parole. Is this really weird for you and me? But for Americans, this is par for the course, because the United States is one of two countries that have not adopted the Convention on the Rights of Children, and Pennsylvania, where the crime occurred, is a state that has fairly strict laws.
At the trial, little Jordan thoroughly, in great detail, told how he killed his future stepmother, and then... And then he renounced his testimony, but it was too late.
There is a version that the juvenile criminal is covering for someone else, taking full responsibility upon himself, but it has not yet been confirmed. Naturally, at the moment there are those who demand a more lenient sentence, as well as those who agree with the court’s decision.
In particular, the parents of the murdered girl fully agree with the court's decision and believe that Jordan did it deliberately. The child's father, in turn, accepted the court's decision.
Well, that’s just me, for general development I shared interesting information. Now let’s move on to the main topic of our conversation - self-defense. By the way, although the information is intended for girls, most of the techniques can also be used by the male readers of my blog.
Aikido
The main goal of this martial art is to acquire the skill of defense. It's all about the ability to use the enemy's energy to protect yourself. Of course, anyone can practice this martial arts, but short girls who know how to control their body well usually achieve great results.
Contents of the article: In our society, it is generally accepted that girls should engage in “female” sports disciplines to maintain physical fitness. Many types of fitness have been created, there is yoga and Pilates, athletics, but not martial arts. However, not everyone follows this tradition, and today we will talk about martial arts for girls.
It is quite obvious that when choosing this or that sport, women are guided by different criteria and motives in comparison with men. There is no denying that the current criminal situation in the country and the world is not the most favorable. The girl’s desire to be able to stand up for herself is quite understandable.
We should not forget about the loads, which in martial arts are much higher than in any type of aerobics. What can martial arts give to girls? Firstly, during training, all muscle groups of the body actively work, which thanks to this develops harmoniously. Secondly, the spirit is strengthened and willpower is developed. This can be quite valuable in everyday life. And, of course, stretching exercises, without which no martial arts is unthinkable, only increase femininity.
Let's not forget about philosophy, which is present in any form of martial arts. When you remain in the ring face to face with your opponent, you need to learn how to interact with him, find his weaknesses and understand yourself. As a result, you can learn to listen to your body and master it perfectly. Today our life is a series of stresses, which can sometimes be extremely difficult to get rid of. Often, martial arts for girls become more effective compared to visiting a psychologist.
Now there are about 1.5 thousand martial arts all over the world. Many of them were created thousands of years ago. Although many do not see any practical benefit in them, millions practice them. If we talk about the secret of longevity of martial arts, then we can highlight three points:
- Spirituality - most types of martial arts have their own philosophy and during training a lot of attention is paid to working on consciousness.
- They have a strong healing effect.
- Self-defense skills are mastered.
Despite popular opinion in society, we argue that martial arts for girls can be no less useful than for men, and sometimes even better. In some fighting arts, fluidity of movement, grace, cunning and economy are of particular importance. All this makes these sports very useful for the female body.
General principles of self-defense
Nowadays, it is very common to meet hooligans; they can pester you just to make a joke, and sometimes with sadder intentions. Every girl found herself in a situation where she had to get home alone, or go into a dark entrance. And there are many other situations where danger may lurk, the main thing to remember is:
Your strength is in your weakness.
Therefore, in an extreme situation, you need to do something that is not expected of you.
In addition to a gas canister and a stun gun, defense weapons can be: an umbrella, a hairpin, hairspray, deodorant (in aerosol packaging), a bag, a bunch of keys.
If you come across a group of hooligans or drunk people on your way, then first just try to get around them and not respond to comments, no matter how rude they are, because any bickering can only warm up the company.
Try to do something that is not expected of you - throw in the money and let them collect it. If there are people nearby, shout or throw a stone at the window of a residential building, someone will look out.
If you meet a crowd of hooligans at the entrance, then do not shout “Help”, but rather shout “Fire”, “We are burning”. As practice shows, people are afraid to help strangers, but everyone will react to a fire.
Self-defense tips for girls
Kick "between the legs"
One of the most famous and effective techniques, which girls are primarily taught in any self-defense complex. One powerful blow between the legs, and the attacker reflexively lowers his hands due to pain, distracting himself from the victim. The groin is one of the most vulnerable places in men. The blow is delivered with the foot or knee to increase the force of the strike , otherwise the force of the blow will not be enough to neutralize the attacker.
Stabbing the eyes
Use your thumbs to press on the attacker’s eyes, and grab the jaw with the rest of your fingers . When pressing, you need to put all the force into your thumbs; the remaining fingers can reflexively form a fist to increase the pressing force. The enemy will be severely injured and disoriented for a long time.
Freedom from strangulation
The technique helps in a situation where the attacker is standing in front of you and grabs you by the throat. You should immediately free yourself from the grip by hitting the face with your hand or foreign objects, such as a bag, which helps distract the opponent, and he will loosen the grip.
The release technique must begin by leaning your shoulder onto the attacker, from top to bottom, using your entire weight.
Punch on the nose
An effective way to unexpectedly interrupt an attack, leading to painful shock and confusion of the enemy. To do this, quietly move your hand level with your other hand and sharply hit the enemy’s nose with the edge of the palm of your active hand .
Knee hit
A blow to the knee must be made with the inner edge of the shoe (shoes) . This technique breaks the ligaments of the knee joint and immobilizes the enemy. In addition, it combines well with previous techniques.
Just never use the toe of a shoe in a technique; it can easily slip off without causing any harm to the enemy, but will only anger him.
Practical self-defense techniques
If you get hit, pretend that you are worse than you really are. There is hope that the attacker will be confused and scared.
In the event of an attack by a rapist or robber, throw a handful of sand, stones, spray deodorant or varnish in his face, hit him with keys, a bag, an umbrella, a fist, or a foot. You can hit in the groin, solar plexus, stomach.
Don’t spare your voice – scream, preferably in the ear of the rapist. If you are attacked from behind, you can bite your hand, hit your face with the back of your head, or hit your stomach or groin with your elbow. Be sure to watch the video, it talks about self-defense techniques very well.
When attacked in the elevator, you can press the “Call” button and scream.
If you are dragged into a car, don't panic. Try to pay attention to the car of passers-by or other cars; to do this, turn the steering wheel sharply to the side or pull the handbrake, this will disrupt the usual course of movement. Pretend that you are sick or need to go to the toilet. It is better to try to escape in places where there are people near a cafe, store, or gas station.
Well, here are some brief recommendations that I hope you will never need in your life. Subscribe to blog updates to receive news by email. Share this article with your friends, or even better, your girlfriends, I’m sure they will find this information very useful. All the best to you, bye bye
The best martial arts for girls
tai chi chuan
This is one of the most ancient arts, and it has stood the test of time with honor.
There is a rather interesting legend telling about the creation of Tai Chi Chuan. The founder of the style is considered to be the monk Zhang San Feng. One day he happened to see a fight between a snake and a crane. The snake's movements were smooth, and it rhythmically performed sideways movements and attacked at the same time. The crane, in turn, gracefully took off and fell to the ground, trying to throw its opponent up or pin him to the ground. Zhang San was delighted with this fight and came to the conclusion that wrestling could be beautiful. As a result, he created a new martial art - the Fist of the Great Limit or tai chi tuan.
This style of wushu is characterized by soft, flowing movements, which from the outside look more like a dance rather than a martial art. Moreover, if a person is not familiar with tai chi tuan, then it may seem to him that all movements are as simple as possible and are arbitrary. Of course, this is absolutely not true, because, like yoga asanas, all movements in tai chi tuan must be performed impeccably from a technical point of view.
Very often this style of wushu is secretly called “Chinese yoga,” which is clearly no coincidence. According to the Chinese, there are streams of invisible energy called “qi” in our body. It moves through special channels and allows the body to be in complete harmony. Only correctly performed movements can free a person’s consciousness from unnecessary thoughts and improve his health.
Note that each movement in tai chi tuan has beautiful names, for example, “The snake crawls in the grass” or “The beauty opens her fan.” Even if you regularly perform only a couple of movements, you can feel the positive effect. However, to get maximum results, you should perform a complex consisting of 10–15 movements. It may take from 10 to 40 minutes to complete.
It is in Tai Chi Chuan that the sense of “center” develops most actively. According to Eastern teachings, it is located below the navel at a distance of two fingers and it is there that all a person’s vital energy is located. If you learn to feel this center correctly, a special core will be formed that can improve your stamina and strengthen your spirit. Thanks to regular training, this martial art for girls will solve a lot of problems, ranging from excess weight to gynecology.
There are two schools of Tai Chi Chuan - Yang and Chen. The first is known precisely for its healing properties, and the second is considered as a martial art. It was created specifically for members of the emperor's family. Scientists have found that regular practice of this style of wushu helps to normalize the functioning of all body systems.
wing chun
If we talk about which martial arts are the best for girls, then we cannot fail to mention Wing Chun.
Let's start with the fact that this style was created, according to legend, by the woman Ng Mui. About three hundred years ago, one of the provinces of the Celestial Empire was ruled by a cruel ruler. Once he saw Ng Mui, he decided to make her his wife. This was clearly not part of her plans and, taking a deferment for three months, she went to the mountains. There she studied with the nun Yim Wing Chun. After returning to her settlement, Ng Mui challenged the ruler to a duel and defeated him. As a sign of gratitude, she named her style Wing Chun, after her mentor. By the way, it can be translated as “Blossoming Spring”. It is one of the most popular self-defense styles on the planet today.
Among the many types of martial arts, Wing Chun stands out for its speed, rationality and accuracy of all movements. The Chinese themselves jokingly call this style “wrestling for the lazy.” In other words, it is great for a person who does not like to make unnecessary movements. In Wing Chun you will not find such effective blows that cinema pampers us with. Masters of this style are able to deliver about a dozen blows within a second and often the fight ends after a few seconds.
Many experts are sure that among all the martial arts, Wing Chun is best suited for girls. No one will argue that a woman is physically weaker than a man. However, in Wing Chun, enormous strength is not required at all to win a fight. The main emphasis here is on internal energy. In addition, Wing Chun allows you to feel great during a fight in a confined space, such as an elevator. Thus, we can say with complete confidence that Wing Chun is perfect for girls who not only want to improve their health, but also learn self-defense techniques.
Aikido
Unlike the martial arts we have already discussed, Aikido is young.
It originated in Japan only half a century ago. Like the styles discussed above, Aikido falls into the category of soft or internal martial arts. Among the basic principles of Aikido, one should note compliance and control over the opponent’s movements. A person practicing this art gradually moves from rectilinear movements (their basis is first a square and then a triangle) to circular ones. Such movements are like a hurricane, which, thanks to its incredible power, is capable of destroying the strongest walls.
Similar to Tai Chi Chuan, water is used to fully understand the principles of Aikido. This substance can be soft and bend around various obstacles, but at the same time it contains enormous destructive power. Despite the “youth” of this martial art, it is very popular all over the world. Women's nature has the ability to overcome force and this makes Aikido one of the best martial arts for girls.
Karate
Most people are sure that this martial art originated in Japan.
However, this is only partly true. Karate was created by the inhabitants of the island of Okinawa about three hundred years ago. At that time, Okinawa was not part of the Land of the Rising Sun. It was karate that became the first martial arts in our state, which managed to gain a lot of fans. For some time it was even banned. This is a fairly tough contact type of martial arts, which is considered a men's sport. However, quite a lot of women are successfully engaged in it. Among the benefits that girls will receive during training, it should be noted that they will master self-defense skills, improve their health and spiritual development.
At the initial stage of training, karate can awaken internal aggression, which disappears as it improves. You can often hear from people who have switched from karate to other internal martial arts about the occurrence of frequent conflict situations. However, after changing the martial art, they stopped appearing.
If a girl who is not physically prepared begins to practice karate, then positive results will appear quite quickly. However, you should remember that the body of a well-trained karateka does not quite fit into the modern concept of female beauty.
For more information about why girls are increasingly starting to engage in martial arts, watch the video below:
The very first and undeniable advantage is strength and tone. Regular training in various martial arts is an excellent opportunity to tighten up what is sagging on your body, as well as pump up what is just about to sag. You can start your workout with signature and effective techniques or with standard warm-up activities such as squats and push-ups. In addition, further exercises with a good partner are an excellent load that will allow you to keep all your muscles in excellent tone.
The second main advantage is flexibility. This quality is successfully developed through exercises that are included in the list of every martial art of our time. Without flexibility, power grips and controls will not only be ineffective, but also dangerous. The third undeniable advantage is self-confidence. If you throw strong men over your hip a couple of times a week, then you will accept the boss’s scoldings or rudeness on the bus much easier. Most likely, the feeling that you can simply break or twist the hand that brazenly grabbed you by the shoulder or slapped you in a “soft spot” is warming.
A frequently asked question and often the decisive fact why girls don’t want to go in for martial arts is “I’ll become like a man, I’ll gain a ton of muscles and it’s not in the right place.” I can confidently assure you! In order for your muscles to grow and you look like a man, you must be a man! When practicing martial arts, all muscle groups develop; this is not swimming, where the main load is on the arms. The load is distributed evenly and in most areas they are not engaged in building muscles, but in bringing them into a state of tone.
Another important factor is the psychological component of all martial arts. Cultivating the "fighting spirit". It sounds threatening, but remember yesterday or the past week, how many people managed to offend, be rude or challenge you psychologically? If in response they received antics, embarrassment, awkwardness on your part, then you need a “fighting spirit” to withstand any obstacles in life!
Well, the last important advantage is an excellent chance to arrange a personal life. There are much more men who are interested in self-defense than the fair sex. Well, according to eyewitnesses, painful holds and sparring are considered a good way to get a closer look at each other.
One of the most popular and widespread are various types of martial arts and martial arts. Modern parents strive to send their children to such sections, regardless of gender, because mastering fighting techniques is a way to gain excessive energy, learn to control your body and emotions, become more flexible and strong, and gain self-confidence. This is very important for boys - future defenders. But what about girls, how useful are fighting techniques for them?
Positive aspects of martial arts training for girls
It is enough to remember the history of Japan and go back to the time when the art of combat was just being formed. Samurai, when teaching their children fighting techniques, did not distinguish between boys and girls. In their opinion, “when a man leaves to fight, a woman remains to protect the house, children and the elderly.”
A girl who participates in the combat section becomes more confident, calmer, stronger not only physically, but also mentally. A fit figure, agility, excellent coordination and good health - and these are not all the advantages. With the right training, a girl can achieve success in sports, which will have a beneficial effect on her life: as she grows up, she will be able, in particular, to achieve her goals. In addition, a very important skill is the ability to protect yourself in an extreme situation.
Many martial arts (such as wushu, aikido, karate or taekwondo) are based on techniques that are beneficial to health. This is a series of breathing exercises, as well as stretches that form posture and correct body position in space, relieve muscle tension, prevent spasms, and create a “muscle corset” that helps prevent problems with the spine.
Martial arts promotes a holistic approach to training. It’s not just the physical side that’s important here—it’s the way of education and the formation of spirituality.
While acquiring the skills of a fighter, the girl remains feminine. She will not have a male figure with pumped muscles or uneven distribution of fat. Martial arts form a beautiful feminine figure, develop mobility, flexibility, endurance and good coordination.
Types of martial arts suitable for girls
It is most beneficial for a girl to practice martial arts aimed at protection, but without unnecessary pressure and aggression. Let's consider the most popular systems that have an application part aimed at protection.
Aikido
- a fairly young system that came from Japan. This is a defensive technique based on intercepting the opponent's movements. The actions of the aikidoist himself resemble the description of circles. Aikido students are not forced to compete or compared with others. In addition to the actual fighting technique, they teach falling techniques and acrobatic techniques. During aikido training, the student becomes more flexible, acquires the necessary strength and coordination of movements, and begins to understand at what specific moment a particular action should be performed. All the skills acquired during training are used by aikido adherents in real life.
Wushu
– the most ancient system of martial arts in the world, which originated in China and represents a unique effective system of psychophysical training. Slowly performed exercises resemble recreational gymnastics, but also have combat applications. This universal health system is suitable for people of all ages and different physical levels.
Taekwondo
- Korean martial art. Its characteristic feature is the active use of legs in combat, both for strikes and for blocks. Here, as elsewhere in the East, the main requirement for students is respect for elders and a friendly attitude towards teammates. Children are taught not to be late for training, to be neat and polite. That is, through the example of behavior during training, a young taekwondo athlete learns to live in society as a whole.
Karate
came from Japan. This is one of the most popular types of martial arts. Karate was originally created as a set of techniques for self-defense. Karate for children is, first of all, a system of general physical and spiritual development, which contains elements of martial art. The basis of karate is the education of a strong and strong spirit, capable of overcoming oneself and one’s weaknesses, any obstacles and difficulties encountered in training, and then in life. Regular karate classes help children overcome laziness, stress, improve health, gain energy, gain confidence and develop fortitude.
Negative aspects of combat sections
The most important problem that can prevent a girl from studying in the section is. In the course of practicing various skills - falls and blows - sprains, dislocations and even fractures are possible. With the wrong approach or excessive loads, joints can suffer. Therefore, it is necessary to adequately treat the capabilities of the child’s body, especially the girl – the expectant mother. If there are problems with the heart, joints and spine, or the child has poor eyesight, you must first undergo a thorough examination and, only after receiving a doctor’s permission, enroll the child in the section. Perhaps, if you have existing health problems, you should completely abandon teaching your child martial arts.
When is the best time to start training?
The most optimal option for starting classes is considered to be from 10 years of age. Some sections accept children from 5 years old, but here you need to choose a sports school that has a special combat section adapted for children from 5 to 9 years old. It is better to start before adolescence, when it is easier for the child to adapt to the training conditions and the position of the coach.
You should not send your child to a mixed age group. Firstly, most children will not be interested in this, and secondly, for children there is a risk of incorrect learning from an older and “authoritative” child.
Svetlana Sovela
wing chun
According to one legend, this style of martial art was invented by a girl named Ng Mui. About three hundred years ago, a cruel tyrant ruled in a Chinese province who planned to take her as his wife. The girl clearly didn’t like this idea, and after asking for three months to think about it, she went to the mountains, where she studied martial arts with the hermit nun Yim Wing Chun. After that, having defeated the tyrant in battle, she gave the new style the name of her teacher - Wing Chun, which translated means “Blossoming Spring”. There are other legends, but one way or another, the Wing Chun style is one of the most popular self-defense styles in the world today.
What makes it different? First of all - speed, rationality, efficiency and accuracy of movements. Wing Chun is jokingly called “an exercise for the lazy,” that is, for those who do not like to do anything extra. Simply put, Wing Chun does not have the wide swings that look so impressive in the movies. Wing Chun combat is very real, effective and usually ends in a few seconds. At the highest stage of development, a Wing Chun master can deliver up to ten blows per second.
Interestingly, as a self-defense system, Wing Chun is perfect for women. The fact is that the secret of Wing Chun’s crushing blow lies not in physical strength, but in internal energy, which women have no less than men. Wing Chun is also good because it can be used in a small space. For example, in an elevator - in case of an unexpected attack by some maniac. In general, there is evidence that when you start practicing internal styles of Wushu (and Wing Chun refers specifically to internal styles), then unpleasant and dangerous situations simply stop arising in life.
The statement of K. Castaneda is very suitable for understanding Wing Chun: “The warrior is inaccessible. He never stands in the middle of the road waiting for something to hit him. It minimizes the possibility of unforeseen situations. What people call accidents can almost always be easily avoided. Usually such things happen to fools whose whole life is sheer sloppiness. If someone is waiting for me, armed with a powerful rifle with a telescopic sight, then I simply won’t be there.” There is no mysticism in this. During the classes, special sensitivity develops. In Wing Chun there is a special technique for this called “sticky hands”, or ti-sao. Thanks to it, you become a kind of scanner that can read the surrounding vibrations and react accordingly.
