When Greece will open the border for tourists from Russia The opening of the borders of Greece and Russia can be considered to have happened. From September 7, Russian citizens who have a valid Schengen visa will have the right to travel to Greece through checkpoints at a number of airports. These changes were made to the corresponding document. The official newspaper of the Greek Government published it on Tuesday.
Greece opens borders to Russians, but not to everyone
Dimitris Charitidis, director of TEZ TOUR Greece, said that there will be a restriction: no more than 500 Russians will be able to come per week. In this case, you must have a negative coronavirus test (the document will need to be translated into English), which was done no earlier than 3 days before the trip. You also need to indicate your passport number and fill out a special electronic PLF form in advance. It states:
- past trips;
- address of stay in Greece;
- length of stay.
Finally, the citizen needs to receive a confirmation email with a QR code. You can print it or save it to your smartphone. Passengers will be randomly tested at airports.
True, no one yet understands how to comply with the decree of five thousand tourists per week. In addition, the Russian authorities have not yet restored air traffic with Greece. Therefore, it is unknown whether there is any sense at all in such statements from the government of the Republic.
New rules for arriving in Egypt from September 1, 2020
Anyone who will travel to Egypt in the fall will need to show a certificate with a negative coronavirus test at the border. It must be done no later than two days before arrival in the country. Only children under 6 years old do not need such a certificate.
Mustafa Malbuli, who is the country's Prime Minister, noted that this decision was made because the number of infections is increasing in some parts of the country. The measures also apply to citizens of Belarus.
The document must contain the exact date and time of the analysis. It must be issued by an official laboratory that is authorized to conduct such tests.
Crew members of ships and aircraft are also not exempt from taking the test. Testing of this category of arrivals must be agreed upon by the ship service company with the Ministry of Health.
Citizens who are unable to provide the appropriate document confirming the absence of coronavirus infection will be refused to cross the border until the relevant order of the Ministry of Health.
What are the restrictions on the entry of foreigners into Greece?
Previously, the Greek authorities introduced a ban on the entry of foreign tourists. The only exception is for those arriving from the EU. This is how officials are trying to stop the spread of coronavirus. However, suddenly an additional exception was made for citizens from 11 states. Among them:
- UAE;
- Tunisia;
- Australia;
- New Zealand and a number of others.
