Permanent tattooing of eyelids, learn all the secrets of modern technology

Advantages and disadvantages of eyelid tattooing

Before deciding to get a tattoo, you need to learn more about its pros and cons, and weigh everything carefully.

Advantages of the procedure:

  • Properly executed tattooing allows you to visually correct the shape of the eyes;
  • eyelashes look thicker;
  • there is no need to spend money on a variety of eyeliners;
  • time spent on daily makeup is reduced;
  • opportunity to always look great.

In addition, eyelid tattooing does not in any way interfere with the natural growth of eyelashes and does not in any way contribute to their loss.

But there are also disadvantages:

  • long recovery period - at least 7-10 days;
  • the need for correction to achieve an ideal result;
  • there is a certain risk of getting an unpredictable result. Even if the artist is experienced and works with high-quality materials, the pigment may behave unpredictably, for example, it may not appear completely, or in a completely different color. It depends on the individual characteristics of the client's skin. It is impossible to predict such a situation in advance.

Before making a final decision, all the pros and cons must be carefully weighed.

Permanent eyelid makeup, eyelash extensions and permanent mascara: guest post

13.12.2013
And I love her

As you know, I don't abuse guest posts, preferring to speak out on my own; but if there is an opinion about a remedy or procedure that I have not tried and do not plan to try, then I am happy to pass the microphone, so to speak, into other hands. Today I have a guest post from my friend Lena, whom you probably remember from the summer material with makeup on three beautiful girls (I humbly subtract myself). Lena is not only a beauty and a beauty maniac, but also an experimenter and inventor in the field of beauty and cosmetics. This summer she got her eyelids tattooed, eyelash extensions, and then (at my suggestion) tinted her eyelashes with permanent mascara. I patiently waited for the review, and she, creaking with a quill pen, scribbled down her impressions - the post turned out to be huge, but also interesting, in my opinion. It’s a pity that Lena corrected all her trademark typos in the text: she has a real, jokes aside, talent for typing in such a way that the meaning in a sentence remains, but changes to a very funny one. When we correspond with her, after each such typo we lie on the keyboard exhausted from laughter - but alas, this is the place for serious reviews, so you won’t be able to enjoy this side of Lena’s epistolary gift.

At this point, I’ve probably already said enough unnecessary things, so I bite my tongue and give way to Lena:

This year turned out to be especially fruitful for me for trips to the sea - there were already three of them: Phuket in April, Odessa in July and Vietnam in October.

I’m not a big fan of wearing makeup on vacation and I try my best to minimize my contact with cosmetics, but I want to be beautiful! And so it’s much more pleasant when a beloved man wakes up with a beauty than with a shaggy, sleepy and swollen monster in curlers.

Therefore, traditionally, for two and a half years before going to the sea, I have been trying to come up with something to be beautiful at any time of the day... or night. As a rule, I got eyelash extensions, but this year it seemed like it wasn’t enough for me and I decided to get permanent makeup (tattoo) on my eyelids, and specifically eyeliner.

I must say that I have been putting putty on for quite a long time (more than half of my life), and all this time I have been drawing arrows in front of my eyes every single day, because I can’t imagine myself without them and I don’t like them. For me, the “pleasure” of drawing these very arrows at 6 in the morning, getting ready for work at 8, is very doubtful: if only they always turned out perfect, otherwise, half asleep, some might go to the forest, some to collect firewood. And I, with a crooked hand, have to spend precious minutes, taking them away from sleep, which is so sweet in the morning, to guide them - or rather, to bring them to a common denominator. I had heard about tattooing for a long time, but to be honest, I was very afraid: well, not only is it the manipulation of a tattoo drill, but I’m also very afraid of pain, I don’t know how to endure it at all, so all I could do was look at the works of artists on the Internet …. So I would have suffered every morning if one of my friends had not tattooed her eyebrows and arrows: she removed all my fears that it was unrealistically painful - with her words “well, at most it’s not very comfortable.”

That's how it goes.

First, an anesthetic cream is applied directly along the contour of the eye and kept under the film for 10-15 minutes. Accordingly, after this time, I no longer felt the contour of the eyelid, just as I did not feel the master drawing me the desired arrow. Antiseptic... and now the drill machine is buzzing over my closed eye. What I feel? No, there is no pain - I feel that some kind of manipulation is being done over the eyelid, and this makes the eye twitch like hell, but it does not twitch from pain, but simply reflexively. Yes, it interfered with their work - but that’s why they are professionals! It took an hour to do everything about everything, with anesthesia, drawing a sketch (“here it’s a little longer”, “or maybe even thicker”).

Here's what happened:

The photo shows a slight swelling, which became larger in the evening, but nevertheless, it did not look critical or terrible - well, just as if “the princess cried a lot.” But, by the way, you can’t cry (!), and in general you can’t get it wet: wash, steam, go to the bathhouse, solarium, and in no case should you peel off the crusts that will form - they should go away on their own in a few days. But what you need is to apply D-Panthenol ointment 3-4 times a day until healing, and come for correction a month after the procedure to correct possible flaws and make the arrow more saturated. The swelling went away for about three days, and the crusts completely peeled off after five days. Fully healed eyelids and eyeliner along with makeup:

Am I satisfied? Yes Yes Yes! I am very pleased, one might say, happy that I finally decided to do this. How long will the tattoo last? The master promised that for the rest of her life, although I still read that it was for several years - so I don’t know, but the first option doesn’t scare me at all: as I said, I can’t imagine myself without the arrows.

And ten days later I went to Odessa to get eyelash extensions.

With extensions, everything seems to be clear: artificial eyelashes are attached to each eyelash with a special glue: one, two or three, depending on the effect you want to get. As a result, we get a beautiful fan of eyelashes. I love it so much that, wow! - clap and take off - so I build it up with a 3D effect. The photo on the right is not mine, but from the Internet, since, unfortunately, I couldn’t see anything in any of my photos after the extensions, but this is the effect.

The general look with eyelash extensions is like this - maybe something will be clear and visible:

Photo enlarges:

That’s what I would have done before Vietnam, but…..The fact is that usually my eyelash technician removes my eyelash extensions with a special liquid: quickly, painlessly, and most importantly, without losing “fighters.” But the key word here is “usually”, because in August, after returning from Odessa, I decided that I was smart and would do everything myself, i.e. I’ll take off my eyelashes, which by the time of the third week of wearing them already looked quite “on a spree” - they had grown, a few had fallen out, a few had stuck together...

In general, I bought a liquid to remove them, applied it to my eyelashes and began frantically swiping with a cotton swab, spying on the process with one free eye. Either the glue was stronger than usual, or the master had a better remover, but these eyelashes just didn’t want to leave me. In the end, I exhausted my eye (because this wash got in there and my eye began to sting like hell) and I suffered myself (I smear, I smear, but there’s little point - or rather, the glue doesn’t dissolve for some reason, and from these barbaric manipulations the eyelash extensions ran away from me, taking my relatives), I spat and went to my master, fortunately she lives nearby. She finally completed the process of removing all the beauty, having previously hit me on the head for the barbarity that I had committed on myself. But I just had to apply the liquid and wait about 20 minutes for the glue to dissolve, and only then start working, otherwise I just tore everything out for myself - I had to treat it with oil.....

Why such a long preamble? - Because after the removal procedure, performed with my crooked hands, the eyelashes, which looked like a life-beaten fence - through one, were not completely restored, and I didn’t even think about new extensions: or rather, I decided that I would have to go scary when my friend (and part-time beauty blogger, you know her) suggested trying MYscara permanent mascara (made in Great Britain), which lasts on eyelashes for up to three weeks, does not smear or fall off, and most importantly, does not injure my eyelashes anyway damaged eyelashes.

The master recommended perming my eyelashes to open up my eyes more, and only then applying mascara.

Eyelashes before curling

What is this perm? Special curlers are attached to the eyelashes, onto which a special composition is applied for 30-40 minutes. After some time, the applied product is washed off and a fixative is applied instead.

Photo from the Internet

Then the rollers are removed, the composition is removed and you can proceed directly to coloring the eyelashes

Curled eyelashes before applying mascara

Special pads are attached under the lower eyelashes to protect the delicate skin under the eyes. The upper eyelashes are degreased with a special product and combed with a disposable brush. Next, you can apply mascara: first on the inside of the eyelashes, painting from the roots to the very tips and separating with tweezers, and on the outer surface of the eyelashes (again, separating with tweezers). And so on until the desired effect is achieved.

After one coat of mascara:

Now about the result. The “wow!” effect did not have. Well, what did you want - the “wow” effect only from the extension. Three layers of mascara:

I just got eyelashes that were well painted with mascara, which I didn’t need to re-paint every time: I woke up and was already beautiful, and the eyelashes were absolutely alive, which in my case, after all their torment, was exactly what I needed.

Restrictions when wearing permanent mascara: do not touch your eyes for the first 2 hours and avoid contact with water and steam for the first two days, avoid physical activity. In order for beautiful eyelashes to live longer, you need to: do not rub your eyes, do not sleep with your face in the pillow and, if possible, do not use oil-containing eye cosmetics.

This time I was vacationing on the coast of the South China Sea in a place that is a Mecca for windsurfing and kiting. There are always waves in this place - and not just waves, but vooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much about a swimmable, but you can jump and splash around so wonderfully!

The black flag speaks about the power of the waves better than any words

And the wave, by the way, doesn’t ask whether you want it to lift you up and roll you along the bottom under water at the fifth point or hit you in the face with a flourish. And so, when you emerge and realize that your eyes are full of water, and there is also plenty of it stuck in your eyelashes, but you can’t rub it - you begin to understand that beauty really requires sacrifice. Of course, I felt sorry for my eyelashes and tried not to rub them, but only lightly blot them, mostly shaking off the water from them, even when everything stung from the salt, but this is still too extreme a test for this mascara and... after 14 days she left me (not after 3 weeks, as the manufacturer promised, although, of course, these promises did not take into account the conditions in which I wore it). And I must say, she left without any “scandals”: shedding and dirty stains - she was simply gone - but the eyelashes were still fluffy, and the curl lasted (and more than a month has passed today): three strokes of regular mascara - and the eyelashes just fan out, no need to curl anything. By the way, it would hardly be possible to part with the extensions so painlessly; more salt water gets stuck in them, and they fly out along with their eyelashes, and even in such waves...

Overall: did I like the procedure? Yes, I like. I liked the fact that when the mascara left, it left alone, without my eyelash friends; the fact that the curl still holds; because it saved me from having to worry that I wouldn’t have time to put on makeup before the excursion, for example; the fact that in the heat my mascara definitely won’t run... I just didn’t think about it.

Without makeup, but with MYscara mascara and tattooed arrows (photos are enlarged):

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to see the eyelashes themselves in the photo (we couldn’t get a macro), but in general, I think it’s clear that without makeup, it’s quite possible to live on vacation.

Mascara after ten days of intensive bathing:

*note by Mongoose Well, what can I say - Lena is great, whatever she tries to do to herself. And this is very interesting, isn’t it? It’s much more fun than painting your eyelashes for thirty years with the same black mascara and deeply respected beige shadows, buying lipstick in discreet and yawn-inducing shades year after year!

I hope that you have mastered the text (I read it in one go, well, I was always the first in the class in speed reading) and learned something interesting for yourself.

And if you have experience in tattooing, eyelash extensions, curling or permanent coloring, please share, it’s interesting. I look forward to your comments, and I hope that you will be gentle and correct, as always, because posting yourself without makeup and in close-up is in some way an act of considerable courage. Thank you in advance!

Does it hurt?

Since the pigment is injected directly under the skin using a thin needle, unpleasant and even painful sensations may be felt during tattooing. To reduce them to a minimum, local anesthesia is used. Pain-relieving gels and ointments that the master uses make it easy to endure the entire procedure.

To completely protect yourself, you can find out in advance which anesthetics the specialist uses. This is especially important for people prone to allergic reactions. If during the procedure the pain intensifies or becomes unbearable, you must immediately tell the specialist about it.

What is lower eyelid eye tattooing?

This is a cosmetic procedure in which pigment is injected under the skin at the eyelash line. On the Internet you can find many photos with examples of tattooing of the upper and lower eyelids.

The following techniques are distinguished:

  • shading;
  • thin arrow;
  • "intercilium";
  • combined.

During the process of providing the service, the master uses a thin needle to make micro-injections and through them injects a coloring pigment under the skin. Permanent makeup lasts for several years and does not require frequent correction.

The specialist works only with the top layer of skin along the eyelash line; the paint does not penetrate deep inside. With the help of permanent makeup, you can draw shadows, arrows of different lengths and thicknesses, and make a color transition. You can choose a pigment of black, brown, gray or beige.

The skin on the lower eyelid is thinner than on the upper eyelid, so the procedure in this area is more painful. Capillaries and nerve endings are located very close; during permanent makeup, slight bleeding and ichor discharge are possible.

How long does a tattoo take to heal and how long does the effect last?

Complete healing of the tattoo takes about 4 weeks. During this time, the skin of the eyelids has time to recover, and the pigment fully manifests itself. On the 2-3rd day after the procedure, a crust forms on the eyelids, which will disappear by 7-9 days. This process can only be accelerated by proper eyelid care. Also, during the first week, swelling and redness will completely disappear.

The tattoo will look completely healed, but in fact the pigment under the skin will take another 2-3 weeks to fully appear.

The result of the master’s work should be assessed only after 4-5 weeks, at which time a decision is made on the need for correction. A well-made tattoo lasts for at least a year and a half, after which the pigment begins to fade a little. Much depends on your skin type. Dry skin retains dye better than oily skin.

Individual characteristics

Taking into account the individual characteristics of a girl’s body, we can approximately determine how long the tattoo lasts on her eyelids. There may be two such factors:

  1. Youth of the century. The younger the girl, the less pigment will last.
  2. Fabric type. Dry and combination skin accepts foreign agents more easily, so the result lasts longer on them than on oily skin.

The minimum tattoo lasts for a year. After its preservation passes this mark, any work begins to fade, leaving only part of the color.

When positive factors coincide, the tattoo lasts longer. The maximum storage time is 3 years. If you want to prolong the effect, you can sign up for a correction, but it should not be done frequently.

The optimal time for such a service is once a year or a year and a half, during which time the color will lighten and the skin of the eyelids will be completely restored after the previous tattoo.

What materials and instruments are used during the procedure?

The master works with a special device that looks like an ordinary ballpoint pen. But to learn how to handle it, you need to take special courses. A disposable sterile needle is inserted into the device, which is disposed of after the procedure.

Eyelid tattooing with shading is performed only by a qualified artist using special tools.

The master also uses professional pigment paints, which he mixes to achieve the desired shade, anesthetics, and many improvised tools that make the work easier: markers for sketching, various stands and containers. The entire procedure should be carried out wearing sterile disposable gloves. Using disposable materials reduces the risk of infection.

Features of the preparatory stage

You must come to the procedure with clean skin and no makeup on your face. If you have eyelash extensions, they must also be removed. You will also need to remove your contact lenses. A week before tattooing, it is recommended to stop taking hormonal medications, corticosteroids, and antibiotics. If this is not possible, it is better to reschedule the tattoo to another date.

The day before the session you should not drink alcohol. If the procedure is carried out in the summer and the sun is shining outside, it is worth taking sunglasses with you. Before the artist begins introducing the pigment, a sketch of the future tattoo is drawn on the eyelids, which must be agreed upon with the client. It needs to be assessed carefully, since getting rid of a tattoo is not easy.

Features of eyelid skin restoration

In total, tattooing can be done on three areas: eyebrows, lips, eyelids. At the same time, the eyelids are the most delicate and thin place on the face, which is why you should approach care carefully.

There are some nuances in the recovery period after eyelid tattooing:

  1. Due to the thinness of the fabric, you need to be careful in the first three days after permanent eyelid makeup.
  2. The crust that appears in the middle of the first week does not have a thick layer, so during its appearance you need to be careful with the damaged skin when washing: only soft micellar water will do.
  3. When sleeping, do not roll over on your side or back in the first two weeks, because this can damage the thin layer of skin, creating an open wound that can lead to infection.
  4. It is not recommended to paint not only the eyelids, but also the part that is next to them: eyelashes, eyebrows, temples.
  5. Limit your use of contact lenses for the first week after your appointment, as putting them on will stretch the skin of your eyelids, preventing it from healing.

If you follow the instructions of the master, the likelihood of negative consequences that will affect the outcome and the client’s health decreases, so do not neglect them.

Eyelash tattoo

Eyelid tattooing with shading, the photo of which looks quite impressive, despite the lack of a classic winged eyeliner, is well suited for women of all ages. The eyes seem to be slightly tinted with pencil. It looks not provocative, and at the same time bright. The pigment fills the space between the eyelashes. Interciliary tattooing is suitable for girls who do not like too bright makeup.

Blondes are recommended to use brown pigment rather than black.

Here's how the procedure will go:

  • the master draws a sketch and, if necessary, adjusts it, taking into account the client’s wishes;
  • starts tattooing using sterile disposable needles;
  • makes sure that the client feels good and is satisfied with the initial result of the work.

Inter-eyelash tattooing greatly simplifies daily makeup. For an expressive look, all that remains is to tint your eyelashes.

When can you dye your eyelashes after eyelid tattooing?

Usually, specialists cannot set an exact date when it will be possible to paint the eyelash area, because tissue rehabilitation occurs on an individual basis.

The first week is a strict limitation, since it is strictly forbidden to apply decorative cosmetics over the protective layer, as this will harm the healing of the tattoo.

The second week is also usually not considered a favorable time to dye eyelashes, because at this time the epidermis begins to move away from the wounds, and all the energy is put into their regeneration.

The remaining time for rehabilitation of the skin tissue is a recommendation to the client, because at this time the top layer has fixed, but the dye has not been completely absorbed in it, which is why the use of cosmetics for decoration will lead to its premature washing out.

If you have the opportunity, you should not paint your eyelashes for a month after eyelid tattooing. If necessary, you can dye your eyelashes in the second half of this period, because the coating may already be accompanied by a delay in color.

To find out information about your case, consult with a specialist; he will give you recommendations on when to start applying makeup to the area in which the tattoo was made, so as not to damage it.

Tattoo with shading of the lower and upper eyelids

Eyelid tattooing with shading, a photo of which can be found in any salon, is a very popular service. According to this technique, the master draws an arrow on the upper eyelid and slightly shades its outline. The lower eyelid is also emphasized - near the outer corner of the eye the line becomes a little thicker.

This tattoo creates the effect of quite bright makeup; it is well suited for brunettes with both light and dark eyes.

The look becomes soft and “smoky”. The procedure is carried out in the same sequence as filling the interlash space: first, a sketch is drawn, and only then pigment is introduced. As a result, the eyes look skillfully tinted with pencil or dark shadows.

Types of permanent makeup

Most often, this procedure is chosen by young girls to highlight facial features and make them more expressive. However, it can also be done for women in adulthood. This helps to slightly lift the corner of the eyes, hide age-related changes in the eyelids and give brightness to the look.

Painting the interlash space

This type of permanent makeup is considered the best way to give eyelashes color and thickness. It often looks much more natural and beautiful than the effect of using mascara. Despite the fact that this procedure seems very complicated, experienced experts say that it is not so. This does not require a sketch, since the skin between the eyelashes is painted, and the contour does not go beyond the boundaries of their growth.

One of the disadvantages is that often such pigment does not stand out too clearly on the eyes. Its main task is to visually make the eyelash line thicker. Therefore, if you want to achieve a brighter effect, we recommend taking a closer look at other tattooing options.

Permanent makeup in the form of an arrow

The most popular type of eyelid tattoo can rightfully be called arrows. The shape and length are selected individually, based on the shape of the eyes, face shape and your wishes. Quite often, girls choose the classic option in the form of small and thin arrows. It is believed that this is the most universal solution, since they are not too expressive.

Also, girls often choose “glamorous” arrows. They make the look more open and playful, which is why they are very popular. However, this option may not always be appropriate.

As for color, most often permanent eyeliner makeup is done in black. But if you wish, you can use green, blue or brown. They look very nice, but not as expressive as the standard version.

Despite the great demand, there are cases when it is not worth getting an eyelid tattoo. The fact is that sometimes after such a procedure the eyes may seem even narrower, and the bags under the eyes will become obvious. To avoid this effect, the artist always makes a test version of the arrows with a special pencil. And only after your approval begins the procedure.

Arrows with shading

This type of eyelid tattoo looks very beautiful and soft, as it is visually similar to tinting with shadows or a pencil. The contour is very smooth due to the transition from dark to light. It is thanks to this that the eyes visually enlarge and look radiant. This procedure is especially often recommended for older women, since small wrinkles deform the smooth contours of the eyelids.

Shadows

This type of permanent makeup is quite complex, as it involves color transitions. In turn, this allows you to lengthen or round the eyes, as well as hide imperfections such as scars.

As for shades, you can choose absolutely any, both light, dark or saturated. But keep in mind that the result will last for a long time, so we recommend weighing the pros and cons before signing up for such a procedure.

As for applying color, this technology assumes that the eyelid is painted with pigment, which is stretched in the outer corners with a wide needle. That is, in the inner corner there is a thin arrow, which gradually becomes wider, but at the same time looks soft. It turns out a peculiar effect of applying shadows. It looks very beautiful, but if you choose a dark shade, it can interfere with creating a neutral eye makeup.

Shadow tattoo technique

When working using this technique, the effect of eyelids painted with shadows is created. As a rule, tattooing is applied mainly close to the outer edge of the eye. Eyelid tattooing with shading in the photo is practically no different from real eye shadow. This suggests that the tattoo looks quite natural.

The shadow technique is suitable for girls who are accustomed to using shadows in their daily makeup. It is not recommended to use it for those whose upper eyelids droop slightly. You need to decide on the color of the tattoo. For fair-haired girls, you need to choose a pastel pigment, light brown. Brunettes will suit brighter colors.

Permanent eyelid makeup: care after eyelid tattooing

During tattooing, a cosmetologist works with an eyelid tattooing machine with a needle at the end. This needle injures the upper layer of the epidermis, so it needs restoration.

The full rehabilitation period lasts a month. It consists of two unequal stages: the first week - during this time the girl should take maximum care of her eyelids, the remaining three weeks of the month - the skin undergoes regeneration on its own, without the influence of a female representative.

However, both stages have certain equal limitations:

  1. You should not visit a bathhouse, sauna, or swimming pool, as increased humidity in the room disrupts the connection between the dye and the skin.
  2. Painting the eyelid area and eyelashes is not recommended. Because when you paint them, the damaged area is touched.
  3. Avoid sudden temperature changes.
  4. Limit your consumption of alcohol, energy drinks, and caffeine to a minimum.
  5. Before going out into the open rays of the sun, it is worth providing protection for your eyelids; it can have different manifestations.
  6. Sunbathing on the street or in a solarium is prohibited, as this will cause the pigment to fade.

By following these instructions, the result will last longer and retain its original appearance better.

Arrow tattoo: wide, glamorous

Beautiful, clearly drawn arrows instantly add expressiveness to the look. The master can draw arrows of different lengths and shapes. Wide ones go well with almond-shaped eyes, thin ones visually increase the size of the eyes. Glamorous arrows look slightly provocative: they go beyond the boundaries of the eyes, and the tail of such an arrow sharply rushes upward.

This type is recommended for those with round eyes.

The arrows also vary in length. They can extend from the inner to the outer corner of the eye, or from the middle to the outer corner.

Tattooing technique

Tattooing can be done in several ways. An artist will help you choose a tattoo. He will recommend whether the drawing she is considering is suitable for the client. The process of applying permanent makeup is not much different from a regular tattoo.

  • The day before the session, it is important to give up spicy food, coffee, and alcoholic beverages; do not take medications that affect blood clotting, wear contact lenses.
  • Before starting the procedure, it is important to remove makeup and foundation.
  • During the session, you need to relax and not distract the master with conversations. It is better to report all unpleasant moments immediately.

Interciliary tattoo

The tattoo is used only on the upper eyelid. A hypoallergenic pigment is applied between the eyelashes along the hair growth line. The neatness and naturalness remains, the eyelashes begin to appear darker and thicker. With this application, you can use any makeup in the future: you can complement it with an arrow or eyeliner. The lower eyelid is not pierced so as not to visually make the eyes smaller.

The result will delight the owner with its durability; it can be worn for at least a year. Over time, the paint will begin to lighten and fade. Then the tattoo can be repeated again. The long-term effect depends on the characteristics of the body and the age of the client. The older the woman, the longer the tattoo will last.

When a woman has naturally thick dark eyelashes, inter-lash tattooing is not worth doing.

Arrow tattoo

The technique is suitable for girls with European and Asian faces. The arrow is made on the upper eyelid. If you set the correct direction of the arrow, it can be used to correct a number of defects and shortcomings. The master must choose the right length and shape that will straighten the eye, enlarge it and make it more expressive. A small arrow with a raised tip will look good on small eyes. For Asian women, a thin arrow near the eyelashes is suitable.

Decorative makeup

In this case, colored eyeliner is applied to the eyelids. The shade can be any: blue, brown, white, a combination of colors. This type of tattoo has a big disadvantage: it will last less time than a tattoo made with black pigment. Yes, and you need to please with color and make the right choice.

An incorrectly chosen arrow can visually spoil the shape of the eyes and make the look unattractive. When in doubt, you should first try a temporary henna tattoo. It will only last on the skin for a couple of weeks, and the owner will take a closer look at whether the shape and color suit her or not.

Tattoo with shading

It is shaped like an arrow, the pigment extends across the width. This creates the effect of applying shadows to the eyelids. The haze is created using a special needle - a brush, the width is calculated point by point. In the corner of the eye the line is thinnest; towards the edge it widens to the desired width. Suitable for women who have heavy eyelids or eyes that are wide apart.

Which tattoo to choose

In order to decide on a tattoo technique, you need to understand what goals you want to achieve. For those who prefer naturalness, but do not want to look too pale, interlash tattooing is ideal. Photos of eyelid tattooing with shading indicate that this is a good option for those who use a soft eyeliner in their daily makeup.

The lines will look smooth and at the same time neat. Eyeliner and shadow techniques are created for those who like to look bright and emphasize the eyes on their face. The color type of appearance also matters. Fair-skinned, fair-haired girls should choose lighter pigments; brunettes can afford more contrast.

Features of the eye tattoo procedure with shading

Permanent winged eye makeup with shading has come into fashion relatively recently, but has managed to win many positive reviews. This technique is used as a universal method for correcting the natural shape of the eye when the eyelid droops.

Depending on whether the coloring pigment is applied only in the interlash space, on the upper eyelid, or in combination with the lower contour, different images are obtained.

During the eye tattoo procedure, a special instrument with a thin needle is used, which is inserted into the skin to a depth of no more than 1.2 mm. First, a neat arrow is drawn, which serves as the basis for creating a shading effect. After this, the master carefully blurs the contours of the drawing with the smallest vertical strokes. The result is a spectacular smoky makeup look that looks as natural as possible.

What to do with swelling?

During tattooing of the eyelids, the integrity of their tissues is compromised, so redness and swelling cannot be avoided. Swelling appears a couple of hours after the procedure and lasts 2-3 days. Its severity depends to some extent on the individual characteristics of the client’s circulatory and lymphatic systems.

To relieve puffiness, you can apply a cold compress to your eyes. It’s simple to make: a piece of ice needs to be wrapped in a thick, clean cloth. The specialist may also recommend hydrocortisone or tetracycline ointment. Moisturizing eye drops and antihistamines sometimes provide relief.

If the swelling is very severe, the eyelids hurt and vision problems occur, you should consult a doctor. Perhaps an infection has entered the body.

Correction and deletion

Eyelid tattooing with shading (the photos show the final result of the procedure) does not always turn out perfect the first time. Sometimes it becomes necessary to make adjustments. This does not mean that the procedure was performed poorly. But to achieve the best result, it may be necessary to add brightness to the pigment or slightly change the shape of the tattoo. This is exactly what the correction specialist does.

It is carried out 4-5 weeks after the first procedure, if the client considers it necessary. The correction takes a little less time and is technically carried out in the same way as the first session. They also resort to it if a year has passed since a successful tattoo, the pigment begins to gradually fade, and the client wants to prolong the effect.

Tattoo removal is resorted to if the work was done poorly and there is no way to correct it.

This can only be done using a laser. It is impossible to get rid of tattoos at home. Laser beams destroy the pigment under the skin and remove it. It may take several sessions to completely remove the paint. Laser removal is performed using anesthesia.

Recommendations from experts

Tattoo artists recommend somewhat limiting your daily lifestyle for 3-4 weeks after the permanent makeup procedure for the interlash space. Such restrictions include the following:

- do not go outside during solar activity, and if this is not possible, then you need to wear a wide-brimmed hat;

— in summer, protect damaged skin with sunscreens with a high SPF level;

— in winter it is necessary to treat the skin with a nourishing cream that will protect the thin and delicate dermis from frost;

- When washing, you must avoid injured areas of the skin. In this case, the eyelids are washed with a damp cotton swab or disk. You can wash your face completely only after the crusts have come off;

- you can paint your eyelashes with mascara only after the crusts have completely come off. Otherwise, particles of cosmetics can get into injured skin and cause the development of infection and inflammatory process.

Tattooing the interlash space is an effective way to give eyelashes visual volume and expressiveness to your eyes. But not all girls decide to undergo such a procedure, as they believe that tattooing negatively affects the eyelashes. However, tattoo artists work in the skin at a minimum depth and do not reach the hair follicles. Therefore, we can say with confidence that permanent makeup of the interlash space is absolutely safe.

Eyelid skin care after the procedure

The final result of tattooing greatly depends on the subsequent care of the skin of the eyelids. There is no need to be alarmed by slight redness and swelling.

In order for everything to return to normal as quickly as possible, you need to follow the following recommendations:

  • During the first few days, you need to apply a special protective ointment to your eyelids. The specific name of the drug should be suggested by the specialist.

  • On day 2-3, thin crusts will begin to form on the eyelids. Under no circumstances should you rip them off, otherwise you can damage the skin and get bald spots.
  • You should wash only with cool water and antibacterial soap.
  • It is forbidden to wipe your eyelids with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
  • Until the tattoo is completely healed, you cannot use decorative cosmetics or visit the sauna, solarium, or swimming pool.

It is also recommended to refrain from taking hormonal drugs and antibiotics during the recovery period.

How is the lower eyelid tattoo procedure performed?

Before starting the permanent makeup procedure, you need to familiarize yourself with the intricacies of its implementation and possible negative consequences. Below we will consider in detail each stage of the service.

This information will also help you in choosing a qualified specialist.

Step 1. Consultation and pigment test.

First, you need to discuss all the details of the procedure, decide on the permanent makeup technique and pigment color. A properly selected specialist will not only take into account all your wishes, but will also give you professional recommendations that can help improve the final result. In this case, it is advisable to trust his experience, since the master takes into account the individual proportions and features of your face. There is no universal technique that would suit absolutely everyone. To get a complete picture, it is first advisable to familiarize yourself with examples of work, find “before” and “after” photos of women who have had lower eyelid tattooing done with and without shading.

After choosing a permanent makeup technique, you need to decide on the pigment. Even if you purchased a high-quality composition, it may cause you an allergic reaction. To prevent negative consequences, a test is performed first. To do this, you need to apply a small amount of paint to the inside of your hand and wait a while.

If redness and itching occur, this pigment is not recommended to be used. If there is no negative reaction, you can set a date for tattooing the lower eyelid. It is also necessary to take into account the day of your menstrual cycle, since hormonal levels at certain periods affect the pain threshold and can cause additional discomfort during the service.

Step 2. Preliminary makeup.

Before starting the procedure, the master marks the area for subsequent application of permanent makeup using pigment. Cosmetics, such as pencils, eyeliners and shadows, are not used at this stage. They are used, as a rule, only during the initial consultation to select the technique and length of the arrows.

After applying the makeup, the master must mark points in the form of a dotted line, which in the future will help him accurately follow the line. When performing interciliary tattooing, the preliminary makeup stage is especially important, since this technique is performed on thin skin very close to the mucous membrane of the eye, so there is a high probability of accidentally deviating from the given trajectory.

Step 3. Anesthesia.

To reduce discomfort during the lower eyelid tattooing procedure, anesthesia is used. As a rule, this is a cream that is applied to the area around the eyes shortly before the start of the service. Depending on the individual characteristics of the body, this remedy may have different effects, and may not affect someone at all. Therefore, it is impossible to completely eliminate unpleasant pain during permanent makeup.

Step 4. Tattooing the lower eyelid.

After the anesthesia has begun to take effect, the master proceeds directly to permanent makeup. Depending on the chosen technique and its complexity, the procedure time may vary. Typically, only the top layer of skin is affected. The maximum depth of pigment penetration is 0.5–0.7 mm. This is a generally accepted norm; if it is not followed, the paint penetrates too deeply into the layers of the skin and can remain there for a long time, and its removal and further correction of the shape will be almost impossible.

Step 5. Applying healing cream.

Having finished applying the pigment, the master uses a solution to disinfect the damaged skin and remove excess pigment. Then he applies a composition with a healing effect to the area around the eyes. This product has disinfectant properties and helps relieve swelling.

After tattooing, it is important to carefully follow all recommendations of an eye skin care specialist. During the rehabilitation period, it is necessary to refrain from using untested medications. If you follow all the rules, the result will please you for a long time.

Why is it dangerous? Contraindications

Tattooing is a popular and in demand procedure. But nevertheless, not everyone can do it. There are certain contraindications.

These include:

  • tendency to form keloid scars;
  • diabetes;
  • chronic liver and kidney diseases;
  • problems with blood clotting;
  • oncological diseases;
  • stye, blepharitis, trichiasis, and any other diseases of the eyelids;
  • epilepsy.

Experts also recommend that pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding avoid tattooing. If a girl has acne on her face, it needs to be treated. Facial skin should be as clean as possible. Otherwise, there is a risk of infection.

In order not to regret an unsuccessful tattoo, you need to take a responsible approach to choosing a tattoo artist.

You should not contact any nearest salon. You need to find out more about the specialist’s qualifications. It is considered absolutely normal to ask the artist to show a photo of eyelid tattooing with shading - before and after, in order to assess the level of his work. If the client has any doubts, it is worth continuing to search for a suitable salon.
