How to select and store wheat cereals

When purchasing, pay attention to the appearance of the cereal. We recommend buying a product packaged at bakery factories, produced in accordance with DSTU with a specified shelf life and packaging date.

Selection rules:

  • look on the packaging for the word “durum”, the name of durum wheat;
  • high-quality cereals have a uniform color;
  • if you buy by weight, smell: a light nutty aroma is a sign of the freshness of the product;
  • when purchasing packaged cereal, check the integrity of the packaging and weight - reputable manufacturers do not pack less than 1 kilogram and comply with DSTU;
  • The less time ago the cereal was produced and packaged, the tastier and healthier it is.

No more than 10% of grains of other types and no more than 2% of impurities in the composition are allowed. You should not stock up on the product for future use, as cereals are susceptible to moth infestation. Store opened packages in a dry, dark place at a temperature of 18-20°C and periodically check for pests.
