Biography
James Eugene Kerry was born on January 17, 1962 in Newmarket, Canada. His parents were Kathleen Kerry (nee Oram), a singer and later housewife, and Percy Kerry, a self-taught saxophonist and accountant. Jim has older sisters Pat and Rita, and an older brother John. Jim grew up in a Catholic family.
Financial problems in the family began when Jim was in school. When his father was laid off from his job, the whole family had to move to Scarborough.
After Percy found work, the family moved to Burlington, Ontario. Jim lived here for 8 years, studied at high school, and in 1979 founded the “new wave” group “Spoons”.
Even as a child, Jim's favorite hobby was antics. At the age of 15, Percy Carrey took Jim to the Yak-Yak comedy club in Toronto. His first performance was a disaster, he was booed and did not perform for two years.
In the early 80s, Jim moved to Los Angeles and began performing at the Comedy Store club. There he was noticed by the famous American comedian Rodney Dangerfield and invited him to open his performances. Carrey mostly imitated celebrities. He was a hit with the public, and in 1984 People magazine named him one of America's top young parodists.
In 1983, Jim made his acting debut in the film Rubberface directed by Glen Salzman.
In 1991, Carrey convinced producers to give him his own show and appeared on screens with Jim Carrey's Unnatural Act. He dedicated this show to his deceased mother.
In 1994, Carrey starred in the films “The Mask” and “Dumb and Dumber.” The director of the film “The Mask” was Chuck Russell, and Kerry’s partner was Cameron Diaz, for whom this role became her debut.
The directors of the film “Dumb and Dumber” were the Farrelly Brothers, Kerry’s partners were actor Jeff Daniels and actress Lauren Holly, Kerry’s future wife. Critics praised the film. “Dumb and Dumber” grossed $247 million worldwide.
In 1997, Carrey starred in the comedy “Liar, Liar” by Tom Shadyac, his partner was Maura Tierney. He played the deceitful lawyer Fletcher Reed, forced to tell the truth.
In 1998, Kerry starred in Peter Weir's film The Truman Show. The role of Truman Burbank was Carrey's first tragic role. With his acting, Jim wanted to prove that he could play not only idiots, but also serious tragic roles, so it was forbidden to say “stupid” lines from his past roles on the set. Ed Harris became his partner on the set. The film grossed more than $260 million, and Kerry himself received $12 million. Critics were delighted with the film.
In 2000, Carrey returned to comedy. He starred in the Farrelly brothers' film Me, Myself and Irene as Officer Charlie Bellygates, who suffers from multiple personality disorder. His partner was Renee Zellweger.
The same year, Carrey starred in Ron Howard's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Jim played the Grinch. Make-up artists spent three hours applying makeup to him, and he hated the yellow lenses that Kerry had to wear. They were so inconvenient that some scenes had to be filmed without them, and then the lenses had to be completed on the computer.
In 2003, Carrey starred in Shediac's film Bruce Almighty. His partners were Jennifer Aniston and Morgan Freeman. Jim played reporter Bruce Nolan, who was given his power by God. An emergency happened on the set of the film: during a strong gust of wind, the camera crane fell, almost hitting Aniston, who was standing with her back to it. But Jim Carrey, noticing the fall of the crane, quickly pushed her aside and saved her from a tragic outcome. Shocked by what happened, Aniston threw herself on Jim's neck and began to thank him, calling him a real hero.
In 2004, Carrey starred in Michel Gondry's film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jim's partner was Kate Winslet. Kerry played Joel Barish. The actors, despite problems with adapting the script, were allowed to improvise.
The same year, Jim also starred in Brad Silberling's comedy Lemony Snicket: 33 Unfortunate Events. Jim played Count Olaf, as well as several characters in which the Count himself played. Most of the characters' lines played by Carrey were improvised by him.
In 2009, several films featuring Kerry were released. “A Christmas Carol” by Robert Zemeckis was Jim’s first project, which was filmed using motion capture technology.
In 2011, a comedy starring Jim, Mr. Popper's Penguins, was released. He played the role of businessman Tom Popper, who became the owner of 6 penguins.

Entry in Comedy
Carrey became involved with stand-up comedy in the year 1979, when he was hardly 17 years old. He started performing at 'Yuk Yuk's' in Toronto, under the management of Leatrice Spevack. Within a period of less than 2 years, he rose to become a headliner there. In the early 1980s, he moved to Los Angeles and started working at 'The Comedy Store'. It was here that Carrey got the attention of comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Dangerfield was so much impressed by Carrey's performance that he signed him to open his tour performances.
Start of Acting Career
Over time, Carrey initiated efforts to get into the film and television industries. He gave unsuccessful auditions for the 1980-81 season of 'NBC's Saturday Night Live' as well as 'DC Cab'. He made his debut in movies in 1891, with the film 'Introducing…Janet', which was later renamed as 'Rubberface'. He was next seen in a comedy film 'Copper Mountain', followed by 'All in Good Taste' Carrey landed his first lead role in a television series with NBC's 'The Duck Factory', in the year 1984. The same year, he starred in 'Finders Keepers'.
Till early 1990s, Carrey was seen in a number of inconsequential films, like 'Once Bitten', 'Peggy Sue Got Married', 'The Dead Pool', 'Pink Cadillac' (film), 'Earth Girls Are Easy', etc. He also appeared in a few television series, including 'Mike Hammer: Murder Takes All' and 'In Living Color'. It was only in the year 1994 that Carrey achieved major recognition, when he starred in the comedy 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective'. Though the film was bashed by critics and also made him end up with Golden Raspberry Award nomination as 'Worst New Star', it was a commercial success and made people notice him.
The very next year, Carrey was seen in two more senseless comedies — 'The Mask' and 'Dumb and Dumber'. In 1995, he was seen in a sequel of Ace Ventura ie 'Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls', followed by the film 'Batman Forever'. Both the films were major commercial successes. He made a record in 1996 when he was paid twenty million dollars for 'The Cable Guy', a record sum for a comedy actor. Though the film achieved moderate success, Carrey soon came back with the successful 'Liar Liar'.
Carrey ventured towards serious roles in 1998, with 'The Truman Show', which won him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama and an MTV Movie Award for Best Male Performance. The next year, he was seen in 'Man on the Moon', which won major critical acclaim as well as a Golden Globe for Best Actor. He turned back to comedy in 2000, with 'Me, Myself & Irene', a box-office hit. Carrey continued with his forte in 'Bruce Almighty', the second highest grossing live-action comedy of all time.
His next critical success came with 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', winning him his sixth Golden Globe nomination. In 2004, Carrey played a villain in 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events'. The next year, he starred in a remake of 'Fun with Dick and Jane'. Next, Carrey was seen after 2 years ie in 2007, in 'The Number 23', a psychological thriller co-starring Virginia Madsen and Danny Huston. Though he has received commercial success as well as critical acclaim, he has remained devoid of Academy Award nominations till date.
Personal Life
Carry had his first marriage with Melissa Womer, former actress and Comedy Store waitress. The couple had a daughter — Jane Erin Carrey, on 6 th September 1987. The alliance came to an end with a divorce, in 1995. Around this time, Carrey was dating Lauren Holly, his Dumb and Dumber co-star. They got married in 1996, but unfortunately the matrimony lasted even less than a year. Thereafter, Carrey became involved with actress Renée Zellweger and even got engaged to her.

Silver - his massage therapist, Jenny McCarthy - actress/model, and Anine Bing - model (rumored). He is a vegetarian and attended a Presbyterian Church in the early 1990s. (01/17/1962) - American actor.
James Eugene "Jim" Carrey (born January 17, 1962) is a Canadian-American actor and comedian. He has received two Golden Globe Awards and has also been nominated on four occasions. Carrey began stand-up comedy in 1979, performing at Yuk Yuk's in Toronto, Ontario. After gaining prominence in 1981, he began working at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles where he was soon noticed by comedian Rodney Dangerfield, who immediately signed him to open his tour performances. Carrey, long interested in film and television, developed a close friendship with comedian Damon Wayans, which landed him a role in the sketch comedy hit In Living Color, in which he portrayed various characters during the show's 1990 season.
The Carrey family fell on hard times and were forced to move to Scarborough, a Toronto suburb, where they took security and janitorial jobs in the Titan Wheels factory. Carrey began working eight-hour shifts each day after school. , the Carrey family escaped life at Titan by living on a relative's lawn out of the family Volkswagen van until they could move back downtown.
Carrey dropped out of high school, and began to work in comedy clubs and develop his act, which included impersonations of celebrities such as Michael Landon and James Stewart. In 1979 he moved to Los Angeles and started working in The Comedy Store, where he was noticed by comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Dangerfield liked Carrey's act so much that he signed Carrey up to open Dangerfield's tour performances.

In 1999, Carrey fought hard for his next role as comedian Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon. There were quite a few actors fighting for the role, including Edward Norton, but director Milos Forman and the other filmmakers knew Carrey was their “Andy” when they saw him audition. Carrey performed for them as Kaufman with Kaufman's actual bongo drums.

He is an inductee of Canada's Walk of Fame.
Carrey has been listed on a number of lists of famous people that are claimed to have or have had bipolar disorder, but the truth of these rumours is not known.
Jim Carrey continues to appear in successful comedies as well as more dramatic roles. His performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) earned high praise from critics, who once again incorrectly predicted that Carrey would receive his first Oscar nomination.
A popular comic actor in Hollywood, one of the most successful and highly paid performers of comedy roles. The artist’s record fee was received in 2003 for playing the role of journalist Bruce Nolan in the film “Bruce Almighty.” The amount was $25 million. Jim's first starring role was as Mark Kendall, a character in the 1985 horror film Once Bitten. This was followed by a number of films starring Jim Carrey: “Eternal Sunshine of the Mind,” “Liar,” “The Mask,” “Ace Ventura,” “Dumb and Dumber,” “The Truman Show” and many others. The actor's filmography contains more than 50 films. Jim Carrey's success has been crowned with two Golden Globe awards, in addition, he has been nominated for this prize six more times. The comedian never received an Oscar, although he was nominated several times for this prestigious award.
The main clown of Hollywood and the beauty from Playboy are a couple, as most of us constantly say, beautiful and, as everyone knows, non-standard. I would really like to emphasize that these two have even more in common than they might seem at first glance. This year Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy will finally be able to celebrate their first real anniversary - their relationship will be 5 years old, to put it mildly. Please note that if you take and, to put it mildly, compare their joint photos from five years ago with the most recent photographs, it turns out that during this period of time, virtually nothing has changed - they are the same as before like schoolchildren, in love with each other.
And how truly, without pretense, as many people think, a happy star couple can, in the end, allow themselves not to be angry with the photographers who follow them on their heels and even deliberately amuse them - for example, as he did in one wonderful moment Jim Carrey parading along the beach in a women's swimsuit holding the hand with Jenny McCarthy. Everyone knows that perhaps the only question in the relationship between these two, which also does not give rest to the press and lovers of Hollywood gossip, is: “Well, when will they, to put it mildly, get married?” After all, the reluctance to tie oneself into official marriage for almost all people, and in particular for ladies, is tantamount to frivolous relationships. It goes without saying, but Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy don't think so.
Married twice
When Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy got used to working together, the “rules of decency” began to ensure that the Hollywood actor proposed marriage to his constant girlfriend. It is necessary to emphasize that the journalists, so to speak, began to aggressively, to put it mildly, seek an answer from Jim Carrey - why he is finally messing up with this matter, and in which direction their affairs are developing. Few people know that the actor, surprisingly, did not, to put it mildly, express himself vaguely, but directly stated: “I’m happy with Jenny, but I’m also not finally going to get married. Notice that there is no marriage, no divorce, which I think is great.” And indeed, he later added: “If you’ve been married twice, then it’s time to stop.” Everyone knows that Kerry knew what it also says. It must be said that he initially earned his “bruises and bumps” in his marriage to a waitress (and all waitresses in Hollywood, as is clear, are aspiring actresses) Melissa Vomer. It must be emphasized that they lived together for about 9 years, but as Jim Carrey’s career went up - he became a catchy comedy star, starring in the movie “Ace Ventura”, Difficulties began in the family. Few people know that divorce was supposed to solve them. After the couple separated, Jane’s daughter Erin, born in this marriage, remained in the care of her mother, and Kerry began to pay alimony in the amount of 10 thousand bucks per month plus one-time expenses that arose from time to time. Undoubtedly, it is worth mentioning that after a couple of years it seemed to Melissa that her previous husband had not quite fairly shared with her the funds he earned, and she demanded an increase in payments through the tribunal. It goes without saying that the motivation, so to speak, was that the daughter could not lead the “prestigious lifestyle” to which she was accustomed.
Ultimately
The former spouses managed to amicably resolve this issue, and they also continued to raise Jane Erin together, but, as we constantly say, Jim Carrey learned his first lesson in home life. Everyone knows that nothing at all prevented him from marrying for the second time. It must be said that the divorce and new wedding happened in his life in not such a long time, and evil tongues, so to speak, began to claim that Kerry simply abandoned Melissa, having fallen in love with actress Lauren Holly. But on Jim’s part everything was in good faith: yes, he met Holly on the set of “Ace Ventura,” but their feelings only flared up on the set of the comedy “Dumb and Still.” Dumber" when Carrie's home life went downhill. It’s no secret that after a day of work, the actor invited his partner for a romantic date in a restaurant, where peacocks walked around the area with an air of principle. “Everything was extremely nice,” Lauren later recalled, until Jim began to sort of make peacock faces.” Everyone has long known that the marriage of two important stars lasted less than a year. Everyone has long known that on the one hand, he had a positive impact on their popularity, because people are always curious to know the details of star romances, but, on the other hand, the time to finally... Then Jim and Lauren didn’t have the usual family affairs, as everyone knows. It should be noted that this is another divorce, another failed marriage. I must say that he fell in love again, and again with his partner on the set (oh, those office romances). I would really like to emphasize that she turned out to be Renee Zellweger, who was able to inspire Jim Carrey to get engaged, which ultimately did not lead to anything. Please note that things ended in a breakup, and from that time on the actor stopped putting his hopes on, in general, the institution of marriage and firmly decided that he had had enough in this regard.
Smart blonde
Jenny McCarthy was constantly underestimated. Strange as it may seem, she is a blonde who has become popular thanks to her pictures in Playboy! So what, apart from, as usual, candid photo shoots, is she good for? Yes, at the beginning of her own career, Jenny had to make certain sacrifices - for example, to enlarge her breasts, which, as there was no longer a need, she actually reduced. And there is no need to even say that, in essence, Jenny was not averse to becoming an actress, but, therefore, she could not count on excellent roles. Just imagine the fact that he has a very colorful appearance and a frivolous reputation. Few people know that Jenny McCarthy had a big plus - she, like Kerry, was never afraid of looking awkward or funny, and, therefore, could cope with comedic roles. One of those successful examples, which nevertheless went unnoticed by the mass audience, can finally serve as a sports comedy BASEketall. Everyone has long known that the main roles in it were played by the creators of the animated series “South Park” Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and Jenny got the role of a greedy widow, who in the end came to her senses and ran over to the side of the narrow-minded but good heroes. I would really like to emphasize that no matter how she wanted to build a career, so to speak, life adjusted her plans. Imagine one fact: Jenny McCarthy met love. I would really like to emphasize that the tall, beautiful blond, actor and director John Asher. Everyone knows that they looked great together, soon got married, and three years later their son Evan was born.
Then McCarthy
I discovered another talent within myself - I wrote a book about the beauty of marriage, sold the printing rights for a million bucks and... filed for divorce. It must be said that disagreements with my husband finally began during the filming of the movie “Dirty Love.” Please note that Asher and Jenny never came to an agreement whether she was obliged to star in explicit scenes or not. And indeed, in fact, their marriage ran into another real and extremely serious problem: the autism of their baby. It's also possible that since Evan's diagnosis, McCarthy's life has become a struggle. No matter how strange it was, she did not want, in the end, to put up with the disease. No matter how strange it was, the actress was ready to do everything possible and impossible to make her Evan a healthy and cheerful child. It is necessary to note what she ultimately accomplished. It must be emphasized that Jim Carrey played no small role in this.
Little Evan
When Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy got into business after meeting at a party, they were in no hurry to finally advertise it. It’s no secret that in the same way, Jenny was in no hurry, to put it mildly, to introduce her new boyfriend to her offspring. Undoubtedly, it is worth mentioning that, more precisely, she did not show Evan to the men with whom she tried to start things after the divorce. Everyone knows that the child had no use for this, and Jenny was careful. But Kerry's sincere intrigue also melted McCarthy's heart, and she dared to introduce him to little Evan. And it doesn’t even need to be said that the 1st contact burdened Jim with the task. Imagine one fact: at that time Evan did not speak at all and stubbornly avoided, as everyone knows, eye contact. “I'm used to being able to easily get people's attention whenever I want and I'm usually great with kids, so I finally had to try not to accept, as we say, bad attempts to play with Evan on, as we always say, our own account, to put it mildly. It must be emphasized that he was focused on something of his own, and I could have been consumed by fire, and he would not have noticed it.” And indeed, extremely slowly, but correctly, things began to improve for Jim and Evan. Everyone knows that Jim Carrey tried with all his heart to eventually become friends with the child. “Jim, in fact, loves him undeniably,” Jenny noted with joy. “He was there when Evan needed it.” Please note that a connection has arisen between them, which nothing can destroy now.” Notice that eventually, all-encompassing healing, care, and attention from adults finally worked the magic: Evan began to get better. Everyone knows that Jenny McCarthy wrote a book about her own difficult experience in order to provide advice to support other parents who have had to undergo such tests. It must be said that Jim finally turned out to be for Jenny that real, as everyone knows, man who did not give in to difficulties and did not run away at the most decisive moment in her life.
Happy together
Jenny McCarthy is indescribably grateful to fate for finally giving her Jim, which the model and actress does not tire of repeating in interviews. “He is the light of my life, and we are even more in love than in our last relationship. Everyone knows that we are similar souls. Undoubtedly, it is worth mentioning that, in general, I believe that we are already married, and we have no need for paperwork. It’s no secret that maybe when we are eighty-five and tax breaks will come in handy? But we're not going to get married anyway,” McCarthy laughs. Of course, we all know very well that when they ask her what it’s like to live with a person who, as everyone says, is capable of driving anyone into hysterics with his antics, she just answers: “Of course, from time to time we make each other laugh.” , but for the most part, when we find ourselves at home, we just feel sluggish. And indeed, we don’t have any, as we used to say, special comic ritual; together we are what we essentially are – sincere. Everyone knows that nothing prevents us from having a great time together. It would be bad if we did not note that, for example, we love to play poker. Please note that I finally taught Jim, so I can say that so far I’m playing a little better than him.” And it doesn’t even need to be said that Jenny is also often, to put it mildly, asked whether she wants Curry’s babies. "No. I must say that I no longer want children. It should be noted that all my energy is finally spent on raising Evan to be a good person. It is also possible that, as we used to say, I will soon become a grandmother! This is so interesting! McCarthy alludes to Jim's twenty-two-year-old daughter, who is currently pregnant and is about to give birth in the spring, to put it mildly.
Jim carrey
echoes his beloved: “Jenny and I are doing great. And indeed, I also have, as usual, a delightful daughter, who, after all, comes up with music and is gifted, as everyone says, my father. I really want to emphasize that Evan is this indescribable little man.” It is necessary to emphasize that they do not need more happiness. It's no secret that, in matters of marriage, Jim and Jenny decided firmly to follow the example of, as everyone knows, the Hollywood couple of the older generation - Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, who also did not consider it necessary to formalize their own affairs, although they seem to be living together for an extremely long and happy time. Please note that in general, last year, Kerry and McCarthy arranged something like a wedding for themselves: they gathered close people in, as everyone knows, a moderate secret ceremony, at which they vowed to each other in an endless love, and then flew off to Las Vegas for a little honeymoon. And it’s not even necessary to say that besides this, Kerry did another act worthy of admiration and respect in relation to his beloved.
He opened a special bank account and deposited 50 million bucks into it. It's no secret that if, God forbid, something happens to him, Jenny and Evan will not have to worry about anything either - Jim has already taken care of them. Everyone has known for a long time that so, you see, real love happens, so to speak, and true men have not yet died out. It would be bad if we didn't note how wonderful it would be if Jim and Jenny's story also served as an inspiration for someone!
Youth
Jim Carrey, whose biography in the initial stage does not contain anything outstanding, was born in the city of Newmarket into a Catholic family. His parents were Kathleen Currie, a singer, and Percy Currie, an accountant. Jim was the youngest child; his older brother John and two sisters, Rita and Pat, were raised with him in the family. At the age of 14, Jim and his family moved to Scarborough and began attending Holy Trinity School there. Then he entered a secondary school, but studied poorly and ended up staying for the second year in the 10th grade. Jim never finished school, so he decided to change his career and went to work at a wheel factory. In his free time, Jim Carrey studied music; in 1979, he and his friends created the group “Spoons”.
Parodies
One day, Jim's father noticed that his young heir was trying to imitate everyone around him, and that he was doing it well. Percy suggested that his son go to the city Yak-Yak parody club and perform there. However, Jim Carrey's first appearance on stage ended in failure; he was booed. After some time, the future film actor again appeared on stage, this time successfully.
The talented young man was noticed by the manager of the Yak-Yak club Litrais Spivak and offered him parody performances in his program. Two years later, Jim Carrey was already a fully formed artist of the original genre. The parodist's success was ensured by his resemblance to the popular American comedian Jerry Lewis, whom Jim tried to imitate in everything.
Personal life
In 2009, young Jane married Alex Santana, vocalist of the metal band Blood Money.
In February 2010, Jim Carrey became a grandfather: Jane gave birth to a son, who was named Jackson Riley Santana.
Jim received the news of his daughter's pregnancy with enthusiasm.
“I’m very excited,” he said, “Jane will be a wonderful mother.”
When the boy was born, the witty actor wrote on his page on the social network:
“Today I welcomed my grandson, Jackson Riley Santana! Three and a half kilograms of real dynamite that will blow up California!
But despite the happy beginning, Jane Kerry's marriage did not last long. Already in 2011, she filed for divorce, citing the decision that she and her husband were unable to overcome the differences that had arisen.
Jim Carrey's Pride
Outwardly, Jane is very similar to her father. She has the same charming smile and the same kind look. They are often seen together, and Jim's eyes sparkle with delight every time. Jane serves as an excellent example for the children of other movie stars: an independent and strong person who is used to achieving everything only through her own efforts.

Many people dream of being in the world of show business. And at first glance, it’s easiest for the offspring of media personalities. Celebrity children find themselves under the radar of cameras from the cradle, their first steps are discussed on forums, and going out dresses are immediately copied in numerous stores. How can you grow as an independent person under such conditions? Jim Carrey's daughter remains a mystery to the paparazzi to this day, but she is a very interesting girl.
Los Angeles
In 1982, Jim Carrey, whose biography contains more than one page related to a change of residence, moved from Canada to the USA and settled in Los Angeles. By that time, he had already gained fame in artistic circles, and the stages of nightclubs were open to him. At first, Jim collaborated with the famous Rodney Dangerfield, opening his performances. However, Kerry did not want to be “in the wings”, and he took up his own promotion. The first attempt to audition for the television program “Saturday Night Live” on NBC was unsuccessful. Jim was known to the general public as a parodist, and all his attempts to change his role did not yield results. Then he continued his parody work and significantly strengthened his reputation in this field.
Talking about age in English
When talking about their age, people usually give an exact number, for example: I'm twenty nine (I'm twenty-nine). When talking about a third person whose age is not known accurately (or would not like to disclose), the expression in his\her teens\twenties\thirties\forties and so on is often used. Let's take an example of the expression she is in her forties
, it is difficult to find an exact Russian-language analogue; literally the expression means that she is over forty and under fifty, from 40 to 50 years old. Ten years is a pretty big difference, isn't it? For clarification, words are often added:
- early – the first of ten years;
- middle – the middle of the ten-year range;
- late – closer to the next ten.
For example: She is in her early forties - She is just over forty (somewhere 41-44).
Here are more examples:
- The guy is in his early teens – The guy is just over ten.
- His sister is her middle twenties - His sister is about twenty-five (about 24-26).
- Our CEO is young, he is in his late thirties – Our CEO is young, he is somewhere around forty (about 36-39)
Let's also take a closer look at the words denoting age groups. When talking about children, the words baby, toddler and child are usually used. There are no strict frameworks that baby is from so many to so many years, but most often by baby we mean babies, starting from infancy, by toddler children of approximately kindergarten (in our understanding) age, and child - from about 4 years old -6 and up to adolescence. This division is quite arbitrary; you can call a baby a child.
At the age of 12-13, a child enters a stormy adolescence and now he is no longer a child, but a teenager, or teen for short. Every teenager dreams of finishing school as quickly as possible, moving away from their parents and becoming an adult. Please note that the word adult is not used to indicate age. Adult is an adult as opposed to a child or teenager. The age after 60 (somewhere earlier, somewhere later) is usually called advanced, respectable, and in English senior. The expression old man\woman sounds disrespectful (especially old woman), much like our “old man\old woman” or “grandfather\grandmother”. Senior or eldery is a more polite option.
First roles
Then the short biography of Jim Carrey included several new pages, he received an invitation to participate in the film “Rubber Face” directed by Glen Salzman, and he also managed to star in the film “Good Taste”, a little later Jim participated in the film “Cooper’s Mountain” "In 1984, Jim Carrey was recognized as the best American parodist by People magazine. And finally luck smiled at him, and the actor got the main role in the TV series “The Duck Factory”. Then Jim Carrey, whose film roles had already defined his image, played the main role in the film “Once Bitten,” believed in his future and even invited his parents to join him. However, the animation program that Jim was counting on closed after three months, and the actor was left without work. His parents moved back, and Kerry himself took up his career again.
Jim Carrey's career
7. Television has disappointed hopes.
In the early 80s, Kerry begins to take the City of Angels by storm as a parodist. At first he was content with the stage in entertainment clubs, but soon he was noticed and ended up on TV. In 1984, he became the best in his genre among young artists according to People. “The Duck Factory” is an animated project that made the comedian believe in luck. And in vain. Inspired by his fleeting success, Jim moves his family to Los Angeles and fully bears the cost of its upkeep. After 10 months, he was forced to inform them that he was left without work, and the filming of the animated series was finally suspended. A difficult period begins: the family is forced to return to their previous place of residence, and Kerry is forced to look for a new place.

8. I wrote out a $10 million fee for myself three years before I knew exactly how to get it.
In 1992, Kerry writes a check that will give him $10 million in cash on Thanksgiving Day three years from now. And it starts working. A couple of years later, the world is presented with a new cinematic idol - Ace Ventura. The following year, The Mask and the comedy about two close-minded friends, Dumb and Dumber, appeared in theaters. By November 1995, Jim had the previously stated amount in his account.
9. I came up with the final scene in the story of Harry and Lloyd myself.
The writing team and the director insisted: in the extreme scene where the bus stops on the side of the road and the perky girls invite their friends to join them, the characters must get on the bus. Only Jim categorically refused such an ending: his character is too stupid and should remain that way until the credits. Kerry's bet worked.
10. Starred in three films, which in one year became leaders at the box office.
The year 1994 turned out to be fruitful in terms of successful filming. “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “Dumb and Dumber” and “The Mask” instantly topped the box office and brought Carrey worldwide fame and the devoted love of fans.
11. Record earnings - 20 million for one role!
In 1996, Jim fulfilled a long-standing intention - to try himself in a dramatic role. The film “The Cable Guy” collected 100 million US dollars, the actor received five times less, but this became a record amount in the entire history of working with comedy artists.
12. Luxury and eccentricity.
Royalties in the 2000s allowed Jim to purchase an exclusive personal plane, of which there are about a hundred in the world. The board cost $25 million. The interior decoration resembles a luxury apartment with an equipped kitchen, a comfortable bedroom and a shower.
13. Saved Jennifer Aniston's life.
In 2003, while working on a film about a reporter endowed with divine powers, Bruce Almighty, an extraordinary event occurred. Aniston was nearly injured when camera equipment fell. Kerry managed to push the actress away. Having recovered from the shock, she hugged him and called him a true hero.
14. Agreed to the insanity of his character in the film “Always Say Yes!”
Karl Allen was not easy for Kerry, even at the risk of his life. The leading actor experienced everything that his character agreed to. He learned Korean, jumped off a bridge upside down, tied with a cable, and rode a sports bike. But he broke three ribs out of the blue in a cafe, in the episode where he collides with a waitress holding a tray. Kerry later admitted that he was a pro at landing on his butt, but spontaneously decided that it would be funnier to face the floor with his back for the first time. The result: pain and changes in work schedule.
New film roles
In 1986, Jim Carrey (his biography continued to be replenished with new film roles) played the role of Walter Getz in the film Getting Married, directed by Francis Coppola.
In the next film, “Deadly Leap,” Jim played Johnny Suarez and in the process of working on the film he met Clint Eastwood, who played the leading role of Inspector Callahan, who had long been eyeing the parodist, since Jim parodied Eastwood himself in one of the clubs. The acquaintance did not result in friendship, but cooperation with Clint had an impact on the future acting career of the young actor. Kerry watched Eastwood's work and tried to follow the example of the talented actor, although the roles of both were completely opposite. Subsequently, when Jim Carrey began producing film projects in addition to acting, he repeatedly consulted with the experienced Clint Eastwood.
Becoming
Kerry took on any minor roles that were offered to him on television. During the filming of the next series, Jim met Damon Wayans, a famous comic actor. They starred together in the film “Earth Girls Are Available,” and Jim was invited to the next comedy show called “In Living Color,” on Damon’s recommendation. The program ran from 1990 to 1994. Jim Carrey's biography of that time contains information about the beginning of the actor's financial well-being. He got back on his feet, turned from a parodist into an experienced comedian and was already thinking about inviting his parents over again, but his mother was already seriously ill and could not come.
General facts
26. Height and weight.
187 cm and 89 kg respectively. Tall height did not help the actor at all when working on a scene from “The Cable Guy”, where the action takes place on a sports field. Kerry doesn't know how to play basketball, nor does he know how to play rugby, so he had to use computer graphics.

27. There is a grandson.
In February 2010, their only daughter gave birth to a boy, who was named Jackson. Jim was immensely happy, believing that his granddaughter would not be as interested in him as his grandson.
28. Favorite color is green.
The iconic characters The Mask and the Grinch (the one who stole Christmas) are embodied by Kerry with a predominance of adored green shades.
29. Hobby.
Practices the martial art of jiu-jitsu. He likes to ride a motorcycle and watch Greco-Roman wrestling on TV. Creates sculptures and paints.
30. Food preferences.
For many years he has adhered to vegetarian principles in restricting his diet.
31. Unrealized opportunities.
Jim Carrey could have become, but did not:
- metallurgist (in his youth he worked at the Dofasco enterprise, specializing in steelmaking);
- a writer (problems with antidepressants, years of using Prozac led Jim to the conclusion that this method of dealing with depression was harmful and useless, the artist had the idea of writing a book about his experience);
- model (the authoritative print publication “People” included the actor in the list of the most beautiful people living on the planet in 1997);
- an artist in the stand up genre (the initial stage of his career consisted entirely of work on television in comedy shows);
- an artist (he is interested in painting, paints pictures “on inspiration” as a method of expressing thoughts and state of mind during difficult periods);
- Jack Sparrow (sorry, Captain Jack Sparrow; the role was given to Johnny Depp, since Kerry preferred the more interesting, in his opinion, project “Bruce Almighty,” leaving a few personally invented jokes for the pirate saga).
32. Philanthropist.
Jim donates a portion of his fees to a fund to support children with serious illnesses.
Ace Ventura
Having already participated in the show “In Living Color,” Jim Carrey, with the favor of the producers, created his own show under the incomprehensible name “The Unnatural Act of Jim Carrey.” The show was not a success, but Jim did not despair, continued to participate in already launched projects, and starred in the films “Nerves on the Limit” and “Life on Maple Drive.” The following year, 1993, Kerry launched his own project, the film “Ace Ventura,” which was initially, according to many, doomed to failure, since no one was going to sponsor the filming, and the comedians whom Kerry invited unanimously refused to participate in the film, considering it risky . Nevertheless, it was in the nineties that the best comedies with Jim Carrey were created. “Ace Ventura” took place, the rental exceeded all expectations, amounting to about $100 million. Criticism of the film was twofold. On the one hand, Jim Carrey was nominated for Best Comedy Role, and on the other hand, the actor was nominated for the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Role of a New Star. However, the character of Ace Ventura became an idol and an immortal character. And all the best were included in the annals of American cinema.
Career
Be that as it may, in 2012, Jane, who at that time, ironically, was working as a waitress, decided to try her luck in the American Idol music competition on the FOX channel.
Watch the promo for the show and Jane's performance (all in English):
In this competition, anyone can compete for the honorary title of the best emerging singer in the United States. The show has the highest ratings on American television.
Although Jane participated in the audition along with everyone else, there were also dissatisfied people who reproached the organizers and jury of the competition for being partial to the daughter of a Hollywood star. Evil tongues said that during the preliminary auditions she was given a concession, and at the main stage she gave interviews to journalists, instead of waiting for her turn along with all the participants in the competition. Some even directly stated that the girl’s victory in the first round was the result of an agreement with the producers of the show.
On the first tour, Jane performed the song “Something to talk about,” which was once a hit by Bonnie Raitt. The judges of the competition - then they were Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler - highly appreciated the vocal abilities of the young contender and let her through to the next round.
Jim was incredibly happy for his pet.
“She is so wonderful and amazing! I can't wait for the day when the world appreciates her. Let her succeed!”
He told reporters then.
And yet, contrary to the hopes of friends and the expectations of skeptical ill-wishers, Jane did not make it to the second round of the competition. But she didn’t even think about giving up her dream, but simply began to continue to engage in creativity. Back in 2009, she formed her own musical group and became its vocalist.
Jane Carrey Band
The enthusiast called her ensemble “Jane Carrey Band.” Together with the group, she recorded several songs - for example, “Sexy Man in a Death Metal Band”, “Wishing and Waiting”, “Sticky Situation”, “Oh Lover”, “Simple Beauty”. Videos of some of these compositions subsequently received thousands of views on Youtube.
In 2020, a short documentary about Jim Carrey was released, and Jane herself recorded the musical accompaniment for this film. She also became the author and performer of the soundtrack for the film Dumb and Dumber 2, released in 2014. This film is a sequel to the famous film with Jim Carrey.
Jane admits that she loves the comedy “Dumb and Dumber” more than all other films with her father’s participation.
But music was not enough for the talented girl. She decided to prove herself as a comedian and organized her own show program, which is called “The Jane Carrey Show.” She also starred in the comedy series “Hooligans,” which was once very popular.
In addition to creativity, Jane, together with her beloved dad and his ex-girlfriend Jenny McCarthy, helped raise funds for the treatment of patients with autism.

Awards and personal life
The year 1994 became Jim Carrey's finest hour; he starred in the cult film Dumb and Dumber, as well as The Mask. “The Mask” director Chuck Russell invited young actress Cameron Diaz to play the role of singer Tina Carlisle. And the role of the main character Stanley Ipkis was played by Jim Carrey.
The box office revenue for "The Mask" was record-breaking, about $350 million. Jim's share was $500 thousand. There was no end to the film’s nominations: Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, MTV Movie Awards. In the film “Dumb and Dumber,” directed by the Farrelly brothers, Kerry played opposite actor Jeff Daniels; the actress, Jim’s future wife, played the role of Mary Swanson. Jim Carrey's personal life began during that period; he married Lauren. The marriage did not last long, but it still brought some variety to the life of comedian Kerry. And the film “Dumb and Dumber” grossed about $250 million, and, in addition, Jim Carrey received his first award for his role, the MTV prize for best comic role.
The best films with Jim Carrey
For “The Mask,” Jim received a “pathetic” fee for himself today of a million dollars, but the sequel to the film already brought him twenty times more. What followed was a whole kaleidoscope of star roles, and each subsequent one was better than the previous one.
The Farrelly brothers' film "Dumb and Dumber" was conceived as another comedy for teenagers, but the result exceeded all expectations. Paired with Jeff Daniels, Carrey played a typical couple's clownery, when one of the heroes - Lloyd - does stupid things, but his friend - Harry - turns the situation into even more stupid. In the films, Jim has a lot of contact with animals, which he does very well. In two parts of the film about Ace Ventura, Carrey was an ardent promoter of the love of “fluffies”. And then there was Edward Nygma in “Batman,” who surpassed the main movie star, Val Kilmer, in brightness.
Having won fame as the best comedian, Kerry went into serious cinema. In 1997, the film “The Truman Show” was released with obvious notes of drama, which brought the actor his first Golden Globe in the category “Best Drama Actor”. The following year there was another award for Milos Forman’s film “Man on the Moon”. The film was too serious for viewers who were accustomed to the fact that films with Jim Carrey are always funny and bright, so it did not set any records at the box office. In 2000, Carrey played in the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which became the highest-grossing film at the American box office and won an Oscar for his makeup.
“BeBeGolden Raspberry” and fees
Batman was immediately followed by a sequel to the film Ace Ventura. Jim Carrey was at first confused, he had no experience in continuing his previous works, but the plot update of the character (Ventura became a Buddhist) helped bring the film to a decent level. Critics, however, left much to be desired, and the film received a Golden Raspberry Award as the worst sequel. And the actor himself received two full-fledged MTV awards. It happened on Jim Carrey's birthday, and he received a peculiar gift.
In 1996, Kerry received an invitation to play the role of Chip Douglas, a fatal loser in Ben Stiller's film The Cable Guy. This role brought the actor $20 million, a sum that no one in Hollywood has received in the entire history of cinema. Since then, the figure of 20 million has become Carrey's usual fee for any role in any film.
Personal life of Jim Carrey
15. Married a waitress.
The first marriage was registered in 1987. The chosen one worked at the Comedy Store, where Kerry performed skits. Six months later, Melissa Womer gave birth to a daughter, Jane. The relationship ended at a time when Jim's career began to develop rapidly.
16. Always doubted women.
Lauren Holly successfully “grew up” from the position of a colleague on the set of “Dumb and Dumber” to the status of a legal spouse in 1996. Kerry felt that next to him was a hunter for a promising husband, waiting for his Oscar more than the actor himself. Her marriage lasted less than a year. This was followed by a series of short-term romances, demonstrating a reluctance to commit themselves to lasting ties. Kerry doesn't trust women, and he has good reason.

17. Reflected in Renee Zellweger.
The meeting with Rene took place in 1999. The actress turned out to be just as “crazy” as her companion. They met on the set of Me, Myself and Irene. Jim came to the set and slipped on a banana peel, “helpfully” placed by someone from the team especially for the “arrogant” star. Zellweger is the only one who came to the rescue. However, within a moment she herself was sprawled on the floor. Both laughed and left the pavilion together in the evening. She admired Jim's talent, despite the fact that he was famous for his crazy antics in all his previous relationships. When he started breaking expensive crystal in her house, she caught the glass and a second later broke it herself, signifying being on the same wavelength with someone who can turn even a police station into a stage for a comedian.
18. Paid millions to his ex-wife.
The affair with Jenny McCarthy lasted 5 years and helped Jim find long-awaited peace of mind beyond the nagging doubts about his companion. For Jenny, the period from 2005 to 2010 did not seem carefree: the complex character of the chosen one was like a third person in their tandem. When breaking up, Jim paid the model $25,000,000. The press immediately concluded that this was payment for keeping silent about various insanities, but the girl denied the speculation.
19. A tragic story with a deadly ending.
In 2012, the actor began a relationship with Catriona White. The girl turned out to be 25 years younger than her beloved, but this did not stop her from falling in love passionately and without looking back. The relationship was full of quarrels and scandals, the couple constantly announced a breakup, and after a while they were seen together again. In September 2020, the girl committed suicide by taking a huge dose of medication. The reason was the final separation from her boyfriend on his initiative. That's what the note said.
