In just a couple of days, the belly will disappear and this will be the beginning of good changes: you will feel better, relieve your body of toxins and prepare yourself for a diet, or relieve yourself after a heavy holiday meal.
The essence of any fasting day is in four main tasks:
- the body takes a break from its usual heavy diet of a wide variety of products, often not of the highest quality;
- the digestive tract is freed from toxic waste, which makes you lighter not only in weight, but also cleanses the blood, clears thoughts, removes fatigue and even depression;
- you can easily get rid of excess water and puffiness that adds extra weight;
- you can prepare yourself to eat more sensibly.
Some nutritionists position fasting days as an opportunity to reduce caloric intake. But I would say that this is a consequence, not a cause. The main goal of unloading is to use mono nutrition for a short period of time and due to one or two products the calorie content is reduced. This is more of a nice bonus than the original goal.
Yes, you will reduce your caloric intake. Imagine that on a normal day you eat sandwiches and allow yourself a chocolate bar. And when the day of fasting comes and you, for example, choose apples, this immediately reduces your daily calorie intake by almost half. But your task is not to count calories; this is not at all important for unloading, this is implied by itself. The main thing you need to do for a proper fasting day is to choose your favorite product that would help you cleanse. But we will return to this a little later.
This is what you get as a result of unloading:
- the intestines will be able to work in a more gentle mode and thereby be able to spend some of the resources on cleansing;
- metabolism will improve, giving the body only what is useful;
- the acid-base balance will be restored, which I talked about a lot in the article about the folk method of losing weight with soda;
- the functioning of the cardiovascular system is normalized;
- under certain circumstances, fat accumulated on internal organs is burned (this is a rather complex process, but it starts well just on fasting days);
- the stomach decreases due to fat, and due to water, and due to the removal of toxins;
- the condition of the skin improves, as the composition of the blood changes noticeably for the better.
In the book by T. Lagutina “Dishes for fasting days. Eat and not get fatter” provides the following information: the fasting day diet should reach 1000 kcal, no more, and 55% carbohydrates, 25% proteins and 20% fats should be used as energy sources. If it helps, use counting to create your unloading plan, but personally, I'm not a fan of strict calculations. What if my body lacks 1000 kcal? What if I don't reach my fat percentage? Or will all the energy come from proteins rather than carbohydrates? There are too many “buts” to fit all people to one standard.
For example, in the morning I do interval training for 30 minutes, then I cook for the whole family, working intellectually. Even taking into account the fact that I want to lose weight, 1500 kcal will be spent just on maintaining vital functions in the body, not to mention the fact that I need energy for mental work, physical activity and housework. I think every woman has approximately the same daily routine, and many also take care of elderly relatives or children. I made these digressions so that you understand that you don’t need to try to force yourself into a framework. At unloading you will have one or two products, and only due to this you will not be able to exceed the calorie content. And even more so it will be difficult to calculate the amount of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
As for the time to unload. Ideally – 1 day, optimal – 2 days. And the maximum period is 3 days. The last option is suitable if you are slightly overweight, that is, you are definitely not obese, you can easily tolerate simple nutrition and you even enjoy it. In all other cases, 2 days is the limit for you.
If you have never tried fasting days, do no more than one day. This is quite enough to clean up.
Why can’t unloading be done for a long time? Because you can slow down your metabolism and will only stall your weight loss process.

What types of fasting days are there?
There are 4 types of unloading, depending on the nutrients:

- protein – the diet is dominated by dairy and protein products of animal origin;

How to choose a product for a fasting day
To make the fasting day go easily, while your body is effectively cleansed, you need to choose the right product. This is the most important thing about unloading. If you choose the lowest-calorie product in the hope of losing more weight, you risk, on the contrary, gaining weight or turning yourself away from such a wonderful light version of the diet forever.
- Consider your taste preferences . Do you love fruit more than anything in the world? Great. Then let there be fruit. Choose something that tastes good to you, is not too expensive and is well tolerated by your body. If the mere thought of fruit makes your knees tremble all day, relax and focus on cottage cheese and kefir - hearty and dense.
- Consider the time of year . It's not a good idea to plant tangerines in winter, even if it's just for one day. Kefir is well tolerated, but not by everyone, and not in winter. If you are warm and tolerate kefir days well, then get ready to get rid of heaviness in your stomach, improve your complexion and even reduce allergic reactions.

It doesn’t matter what fat content of kefir you take. Even too high a fat content of kefir will not harm either the cleansing process or the process of losing weight.
Buckwheat porridge in water with kefir and cottage cheese with kefir also go well together. The first option with porridge is ideal. All you need is to cook green buckwheat porridge (as much as you want) in water and prepare 1.5 liters of kefir. Alternate your meals throughout the day. It is very important to drink a lot on protein days, but do not dilute your meals - drink green tea half an hour before lunch. You can also drink kefir, rose hip decoction, and water.
You cannot sit on protein days for more than two days, one day is quite enough, the second is highly questionable, as the stool may become stronger. To prevent this from happening, add fresh vegetable salads to the chicken.
