I love both musicals very much. “Monte Cristo” is my first such large-scale work in this genre and, like my first love, it is not forgotten. Mercedes will always be special to me. And Karenina is the title role, a huge, complex, multifaceted role that every actress dreams of! There are many thoughts associated with Karenina. I remember I didn’t fully understand her. She is ambiguous. Now, playing her, I justify her actions as much as possible. Ambiguous decisions became clear and close to me.

In general, I am attracted to the time of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, and I have some kind of mystical emotional connection with the era of Nicholas II. When I find myself in the places of St. Petersburg, where the royal family lived, or in the Sverdlovsk region, where tragic events took place, I am overcome with crazy emotions. I love making period jewelry. For the musical “Count Orlov” I made all the brooches and pendants myself: I bought lace, stones... And with the permission of costume designer Vyacheslav Okunev, I went on stage wearing them. I put on my own makeup before the performance, it gives me the mood and transports me to that time.

I love long dresses and feel comfortable in corsets. I won’t lie, one of Anna Karenina’s suits weighs more than 10 kilograms, but I feel more comfortable in it than in torn jeans.

– Now my weight is 52 kilograms and I’m holding it. Why a gym? It is not needed, physical activity is more than enough. Gaining extra pounds with my schedule is a fantasy. But despite this, you have to follow a diet. I don’t eat any foods that contain sugar, I don’t eat flour!

As a person prone to weight gain, I am already accustomed to food restrictions. I remember in my second year at the Shchukin Institute I gained 62 kilograms. I had just returned from my dad in America. And fast food made its presence felt. In addition, I entered the theater early, at the age of 15, and at that time I just had hormonal changes in my body. So, my artistic director, seeing me, instead of giving the roles of Assol and Natasha Rostova, put me to play Korobochka from “Dead Souls”, other aunts and old women.

I cried then, but now I’m even happy that this happened. This helped me in my profession: it expanded my acting range.

– By the age of 20, I had overcome excess weight and then promised myself never to gain weight again.

Well, if we have a free day off, then all three of us go to our country house. My best vacation is to rummage through flowers, breathe in the forest air and just take a walk... Even in the last few years, my husband and I have been traveling to the Far East more often. We were in China, Korea, Vietnam. It’s interesting and plus a completely different culture.
