Pencil for the mucous membrane of the eye is a key beauty product

The ideal pencil for mucous membranes - what is it?

A good pencil that can be used to line the mucous membrane of the eyelid should have the following qualities:

  1. Have a delicate creamy texture . Hard regular pencils for eyes and eyebrows are not suitable in this case; they can scratch the mucous membrane and lead to dangerous consequences - wounds, inflammation.
  2. Easy to apply . Ideally, drawing should be as fast as possible; the line should be drawn in one movement.
  3. Water resistance . Only in this case will the pencil stick to the mucous membrane and not be washed off by tears.
  4. Have a safe composition . Any caustic substances will irritate the eyes.

You should also pay attention to the amount of pigments .
A light, almost transparent pencil in this area will not create the desired effect. Choose a densely pigmented one that will create a dark or, conversely, bright light line.

Eyeshadow colors for green eyes

If your eyes have a dark green tint, choose lighter eyeshadow colors, and if you have light shaded eyes, choose darker eyeshadow shades.

Use warm shades and avoid cool ones.

The following eyeshadow colors are suitable for green eyes:

  • peach
  • violet
  • violet
  • brown
  • bronze
  • lilac
  • khaki
  • beige
  • purple
  • plum
  • golden
  • green
  • apricot

To create a dramatic effect, use shades:

  • coral
  • mocha
  • lilac
  • topaz

A combination of lilac and dark purple, light bronze and brown would be excellent.

Eyeshadow and eyeliner should be in combination, not the same color.

Avoid the following eyeshadow colors:

  • blue
  • blue
  • grey
  • silver
  • white
  • pink

As for pink, it is a controversial color. Try it, maybe it will suit you.

Shades of gray, although not recommended for green eyes, can be used in small touches in addition to other colors.

Our rating of the best waterproof pencils

When choosing a durable pencil for the inner eyelid mucosa, pay attention to the manufacturer. There is no need to save money here, since eye health depends on quality.

Sephora Crayon Gel Intense

Lightweight hypoallergenic gel pencil in trendy shades - green, blue, black. With its help, arrows are drawn on the upper, lower eyelids and on the mucous membrane; a complex of natural pigments makes the lines bright and expressive. Due to the gel consistency, the pencil gently lies on the thin sensitive mucous membrane of the eyelid, the formula is waterproof.

Loreal Infaillible Gel crayon 24H

A pencil with a creamy texture with a high degree of durability, including when used on the mucous membrane of the eyelid, when exposed to external moisture (during bathing). Available in several shades, equipped with a cover to protect the lead. The tip of the pencil glides gently over the skin, leaving graphic, clear lines that emphasize the expressiveness of the eyes.

Suitable for both delicate daytime and evening makeup. Quickly darkens or lightens the eyelash line, changing the image beyond recognition.

Nyx Metallic eyeliner

A limited edition of pencils with a metallic sheen are suitable for quickly painting the delicate mucous membrane of the lower eyelid. The lead is soft, easy to spread, does not smear, and allows you to create graphic lines. The creamy texture of the product includes fine metallic shimmer particles that do not fall off throughout the day.

Available in several shades - brown, black, white, green, blue.

ManlyPro Longlasting Gel-cream Eye

Budget pencil for the delicate mucous membrane of the eye from the German company Essence. It has a soft texture, easily highlights the eyelash line, and draws smooth, clear lines. A high-quality stylus creates both soft shaded lines and thin arrows in one movement.

Swatches: the best pencils for blue-gray eyes

The main rule of makeup is that there are no rules: any shades and techniques are good as long as you like them. But sometimes you want to understand exactly how a particular color will look on you. BeautyHack special correspondent Moore Soboleva shows exactly how the most popular shades look on gray-green eyes.

Crayon Khol Terrybly, Blue Vision, by Terry

By Terry practically does not make desperate bright shades, preferring calm soft colors. In the dark blue Blue Vision you can see a very fine silver shimmer, but it is almost invisible on the eyes - there is only a hint of color and texture. The pencil itself is waterproof - it lays down softly, sets quickly and there is no need to stretch the eyelid.

The Eye Pencil, Khaki Driver, Guerlain

One of the most beautiful and complex shades in the Guerlain range is this slightly golden khaki. It is believed that shades similar to the color of the iris make the eyes “get lost”, but I really love wearing shades of green in calm makeup - especially if you separate the color of the eyelid and the color of the iris with a thick layer of black mascara.

Eye Khol, shade Delilah, Rouge Bunny Rouge

A pencil complementary to the color of the iris is the easiest way to make them brighter, so reddish shades are most often recommended for green eyes. Rouge Bunny Rouge, as usual for the brand, has a perfectly balanced and harmonious color - Delilah will not make your eyes look sick and will emphasize the green tint. My only complaint is that the pencil itself is quite hard.

Smooth Silk Eye Pencil, shade 7, Giorgio Armani

The pencil has a noble pine green color that goes on smoothly in one coat and a texture that is easy to shade. The pencil is moderately dense, but not too soft, so it’s easy to make even a thin arrow with it - in addition, on the back there is a fairly convenient neat sponge, which, if necessary, can be used instead of a brush.

Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil, Gold, Estee Lauder

I have praised these soft and very long-lasting Estee Lauder pencils many times - excellent and underrated in my opinion. Metallic Gold is not the brightest and most noticeable in our selection: the arrow with it is visible only at maximum zoom, so it is best suited for the lower eyelid or for very soft, but unusual makeup.

Multiplay Triple Purpose Eye Pencil, shade 57 Petrol Blue, Pupa

Pupa calls this pencil a triple action product - it can be used as a kajal, as an eyeliner and as an eye shadow. It’s quite convenient to draw arrows with it, you just need to make sure that the tail doesn’t break off - the pencil is quite soft. Petrol Blue is a satin aqua color that makes the look fresher and brighter.

Twist & Write, shade 06, Nouba

I really like the Twist & Write range, and shade 06 from the summer collection is my favorite: a matte lilac-pink color that makes the eyes green. 06 applies quite tightly, but if you make a wide arrow, it may not be completely uniform - so it’s better to run the pencil over the eyelid a couple of times. The pencils themselves are automatic, soft, durable, and on the other side of the lead there is a thin (!) sponge and sharpener.

Phyto-Eye Twist, shade 11 Copper, Sisley

I don’t know how many times I write about Phyto-Eye Twist, but this is truly one of my favorite series: just the thing for lazy makeup (that is, in my case, for 9 cases out of 10). They can be applied like shadows, or you can make a wide arrow by moving the ponytail up using a thin, angled brush. Copper is the right reddish bronze color, which is called one of the most suitable for gray-green eyes.

Botanical Color Jumbo, shade 01 Cherry blossom, Yves Rocher

Thick eyeshadow pencils Botanical Color Jumbo are a launch this spring: the brand is actively rejuvenating and doing it quite brilliantly. Shade 01 is one of the lightest in the range - it does what advertising texts call “opening your eyes”: your eyes become brighter and visually larger. This option is not for a clear arrow, but for a soft, refreshing make-up.

Eye Shadow Pencil, shade 03 Green, Babor

The German brand Babor is better known for its high-tech skin care, but it also makes decorative cosmetics, and quite interesting ones. Eye Shadow Pencil - more shadow than pencil: thick and very soft, but not crumbly jumbo pencil. It applies evenly from the first layer, blends well, and is easy to apply over the entire eyelid if desired. The color itself is good - dark pine with sparkles. It will look ideal as a base for a double arrow if complemented with a thin black eyeliner.

Requirements for eyeliners

The main requirement for cosmetics is high resistance to moisture. This quality allows you to avoid imprinting the applied line on the eyelid while blinking. In rainy weather, unstable types of eyeliners will lead to pronounced defects in the applied makeup.

The main difficulty in drawing a clear line is typical for liquid options. In this case, before drawing the contour, you should thoroughly shake the bottle and place your elbow on a stable surface. This will avoid drawing an uneven line. It is also necessary to devote enough time to the procedure to perfectly line your eyes.

Wood or plastic?

Brown eyeliner also needs to be chosen correctly. It can be with a plastic or ordinary wooden body. Plastic, as a rule, is equipped with a collet mechanism. It is very convenient to use. The length of the stylus is adjustable as you need. And you don’t need to sharpen it constantly. However, wooden pencils have their advantages. Thanks to the shell, microorganisms cannot multiply, that is, the risk of conjunctivitis and other eye diseases is noticeably reduced.

The body is made from pressed sawdust or a single piece of wood. It is advisable to give preference to the latter. In pressed pencils, the lead breaks more often. For example, when falling on the floor. In addition, sharpening pressed pencils is a little inconvenient.

The plastic case may vary in quality. Pay special attention to the material. Plastic should not be soft and bendable. It is very important.

Hard or soft?

Brown eyeliners receive varied reviews. They largely depend on the degree of softness of these cosmetics. This affects the clarity and thickness of the lines.

Solid pencils have an effect similar to liquid eyeliner. The contours are as thin and clear as possible. True, drawing the line is quite difficult. A certain amount of pressure must be applied to the pencil. After applying the product, it will no longer be possible to correct the line. However, with good training, you can make just perfect arrows.

The ideal option is medium-hard pencils. They are much easier to use. The lines are smooth and thin. They sharpen easily.

Soft pencils are great for beginners. But do not forget that they can break and become lubricated. In addition, they are difficult to sharpen. The lines are, of course, very bright, but often too thick. However, sometimes this is exactly the effect that is needed.

In general, decide what you need. Try the pencil in action. Practice and enjoy the results.

Do not forget!

A black-brown eyeliner, like any other, must be carefully inspected when purchasing. And try it out.

First, remove the cap. It should open and close easily, but still fit snugly enough.

Take a look at the stylus. The presence of plaque, crystals and other inclusions is unacceptable on it. Otherwise, the product is spoiled. In addition, it should not be too soft. But also too hard. Otherwise, you will scratch the delicate and thin skin of your eyelids when applying the product.

Draw a line on your hand. Good brand stores provide samples for this. The contour should be clear, even, without interruptions or lumps. After you have tried the pencil, you need to leave the store for a while to evaluate the skin's reaction to the cosmetics. It is better to make the purchase the next day.

Make sure that you are comfortable using the pencil. Also consider whether it matches your eye color and skin tone.

Don't forget to check the expiration date. Expired products can cause significant harm to your health.

The cost of a quality pencil cannot be too low. However, it’s also not worth overpaying for a well-promoted brand. Just pay attention to cosmetics from well-established manufacturers.

Eyeliner - types

All of us women know that eyeliners vary in their degree of hardness and grease. Some can create beautiful thin “arrows”, while others can create the now fashionable “smoky eye”, thanks to light shading. You can also find pencils on sale that can easily replace shadows.

  • To make the thinnest possible “arrows”, it is preferable to choose a pencil with a hard lead and minimal fat content.
  • Thick “arrows” are easier to draw with a thick pencil with a soft lead.
  • The “kayal” pencil is worth choosing to create “arrows” near the mucous membrane of the eyes.
  • The eyeshadow pencil is easy to shade, and the highlighter is considered an excellent tool for creating bright evening makeup.

Important

choose an eyeliner, taking into account your skin characteristics.
For example, if your skin is prone to oiliness, then it is recommended to pay attention to a product with increased oiliness and softness. If your skin is oily or problematic, you should choose a pencil with a “drier” and medium-hard lead. Top

Why do you need brown eyeliner?

In the case of a brown pencil, the most important thing is to choose the right color. The most successful option are cool shades: those that, when shaded, “go” into gray rather than brick. In the presence of active red pigment, brown eyeliner can give a tired and somewhat painful appearance.

Depending on the texture of the pencil, it can be used for a variety of purposes. Thus, a hard pencil holds better, so it is ideal for delicate correction of the shape of the eye.

To achieve a cat eye effect, draw a line from the middle of the upper eyelid to the outer edge. Next, highlight the inner corner, continuing the growth line of the lower lashes. This way you will raise the outer corner and slightly lower the inner one, which will give your eyes that same “cat” shape. If you do the same thing with a black pencil, the correction will be too obvious and “heavy”. Black color can be useful to enhance the effect: line the upper eyelid with black eyeliner so that the arrow is above the line drawn with a brown pencil.

Soft brown pencil ideal for shading:

  • Draw an arrow of the desired shape, wait a few seconds and blend its edges with a special applicator or brush to get a trendy smoky effect.
  • For a quick version of smoky-eyes, cross-shade the moving eyelid and immediately blend it. The same technique can be used to darken just the outer corner of the eye: draw a line up from the outer corner of the eye, as if you were drawing the tail of an arrow, add one or two more parallel lines, moving towards the center of the eyelid. Next, draw several perpendicular lines and blend.
  • A shaded pencil can be an excellent base for dark shadows. At the same time, brown color, unlike black, will not distort their shade, but will only enhance the intensity.

Like many other beauty products, brown eyeliner can be used not only for its intended purpose.

If you don't have a matching sculpting shade, apply a cool-toned brown pencil to your wrist, blend, then apply a small amount to your ring finger to highlight your cheekbones and nose.

If the pencil turns out to be too hard and its use is not so comfortable for the eyes, it is perfect for drawing in missing eyebrow hairs. Just sharpen it well and fill in the brow with strokes.
