Dysport injections in the fight against age

Hello everybody!

I got Dysport a couple of months ago and the only thing I regret now is that I waited so long and doubted the need for beauty injections. Dysport literally saved my face from cracking with wrinkles and creases.

The whole problem is that I have light-sensitive eyes and moving facial expressions. Mom even complains that there are only one or two normal photos of me with a calm face and there are too many for the entire album:

“The sun is always shining, the lamp is bright, or the flash is in the way.”

What's true is true. I squint and frown very often (and not only from the sun) and dark glasses don’t help much. The eyes narrow, the eyebrows shift and, as a result... is it any wonder that by the age of 30 I had acquired a noticeable wrinkle in the skin between the eyebrows and cobweb wrinkles in the corners of the eyes.

And my skin lasted for a long time.

I used creams, serums and did acupressure. But, in the end, they stopped helping and the face acquired dubious decorations, visible from a distance of a meter! There was such horror between the eyebrows and it seemed that these cracks were getting deeper with each sunny day.

What day does Dysport occur on: exposure time
This is what problem areas look like during 'maximum wrinkling'. You can see along which lines the creases are formed.

What day does Dysport occur on: exposure time
It was impossible to live like this any longer, and in May I decided to take my first “beauty injections.” The choice fell on Dysport, because it is a more gentle composition compared to Botox. The latter is already “heavy artillery”.

In your own words, what is Dysport:

Dysport is a drug based on botulinum toxin. De facto a paralyzing poison, which is used in microscopic doses in cosmetology to 'freeze' the facial muscles. This reduces facial expressions and, accordingly, associated skin damage.

Finding a cosmetologist did not take much time. In general, in some ways I took it lightly and went to a specialist who was recommended to me by a master from a beauty salon. Although it was scary, yes. Once you read the reviews on Irecommend, then at least run and hide!

Since this was my first procedure, I also received a consultation. According to the cosmetologist, I am lucky with my face - the skin is elastic and dense. But at the same time it is heavy and a tendency towards ptosis is already noticeable. It's time to start prevention.

The procedure cost me 5,100 rubles (60 units for 85 rubles), which is inexpensive by the standards of our city.

They decided to inject Dysport into 3 zones:

  • The area between the eyebrows, where the most terrible hall was marked.
  • The outer area of the corners of the eyes is the focus of the “webs”. But not too close, because I have drooping upper eyelids and my biggest fear was that it would droop even more.
  • Bridge of the nose. To be honest, the cosmetologist herself pointed out this area. When I frown, a noticeable transverse wrinkle forms there, which no longer melts.

They took my hair under a disposable cap and wiped the area with an injection of antiseptic (I came without any makeup). Dysport and the syringe were printed and typed in my presence - there’s nothing to complain about. The syringe needle is at most 4-5 mm, it can’t be shorter.

The cosmetologist worked quickly and confidently, first piercing the area between the eyebrows. It didn’t hurt at all – you didn’t even feel the needle puncture. But I didn’t have time to rejoice, because in the “webs” it was already unpleasant, and the injection in the nose knocked out a tear and a strangled hiss from me (it almost hit the bone at point-blank range).

Fortunately, it was all over quickly.

After the injections, I was left with red dots on my skin, which disappeared within a quarter of an hour. Such is the joy of having a thick skin! Only on the nose there were tiny marks, as if mosquitoes had bitten in unison.

The cosmetologist's recommendations were simple:

  • No alcohol for 3-4 days.
  • Do not visit bathhouses, saunas or any other place that involves heating for another 2-3 days. Avoid taking hot baths or long hot showers.
  • Do not apply decorative cosmetics to the injection site for a day or two. Wipe the injection site with an antiseptic after returning home.
  • Maintain a horizontal position for another 4-5 or more hours, that is, do not lie down (even for a “minute”!), do not lean back, do not bend over.

Very simple rules that are easy to follow.

I felt pretty good until the evening, when suddenly a quiet aching pain appeared in my skull, as if before a global change in weather.

Because of Dysport, I was afraid to take regular painkillers and therefore spent the whole weekend.

By the beginning of the new work, everything had passed, and Dysport had achieved its goal: the muscles of areas 1 and 2 (the eyebrow and bridge of the nose) were completely paralyzed, and area 3 (the cobweb) was partially paralyzed.

At the same time, the skin itself did not lose sensitivity.

In general, the feeling is quite unusual - the eyebrows remain in place in any light and any emotions. It’s not even possible to intentionally bring them together.

Below in the photo I am puffing as hard as I can, trying to frown or wince. The skin hardly gathers into a wave, drooping eyelids droop even more and that’s it!

What day does Dysport occur on: exposure time
The paralyzed muscles did not immediately relieve me of the creases and cracks, but the process of their expansion and deepening still stopped. Actually, this is what I was trying to achieve.

Do others notice?

Absolutely not. If I had not told my mother about the injections, she would not have realized that there was something wrong with my usual facial expressions. But this person knows me better and longer than anyone.

2 months have passed since the injections, but the effect remains. On average, Dysport lasts 4-5 months (or a little less if you abuse massage and face-building in this area). I periodically try to grimace in front of the mirror, but so far the muscle paralysis persists. As soon as it starts to go away, I will put Dysport on again.

Traces of creases, of course, did not disappear anywhere. They are many years old and therefore the skin will never smooth out without fillers. However, over the past 2 months they have become less deep and noticeable (even for the picky me). And this is an undeniable plus of the procedure!

What day does Dysport occur on: exposure time

Almost nothing is visible on the bridge of the nose, and just a little in the area between the eyebrows, if you look closely. I'm attaching a collage for comparison. At the top is 'BEFORE', and at the bottom is 'AFTER 2 MONTHS'.

What day does Dysport occur on: exposure time
In general, I am more than satisfied with the effect of Dysport injections, and the procedure itself is very simple and almost painless. It's worth the money and even more.

  • I recommend Dysport to anyone who is photosensitive or emotional.
  • Thank you for your attention.

Botox or Dysport - what's the difference?

These are different names for the same drug. Both BOTOX® and Dysport are derivatives of botulinum toxin type A. Botox is produced by the American company Allergan. And Dysport is a brand of the French company Beafour-Ipsen-Speywood. difference between Botox and Dysport . These are just the storage conditions and the number of active units in the bottle.

Injections
Injections

Dysport – packaged in bottles of 500 units and stored at temperatures from +2 to + 8 degrees. Freezing the drug is strictly prohibited. Based on units, Botox is 4 times more effective than Dysport. That is, to achieve the same effect as Botox, you need to inject 4 times more Dysport.

Botox or Dysport?

Both Botox and Dysport are drugs with a similar composition and effect. Despite this, many people are concerned about their differences and the advantages of each drug in order to choose the best one for themselves. There are still differences between such similar injections. Let's get a look:

  • Manufacturer country. Botox is produced in the USA (Allergan), Dysport - in France and the UK (Ipsen).
  • Dysport contains 2.5 times less botulinum toxin than Botox.
  • Botox uses sodium chloride as a solvent, while Dysport uses lactose.
  • The effect of Dysport appears on days 2-3, while Botox begins to act only on days 4-7. The final result from both injections is visible after two weeks, which equalizes the effect of the drugs in the long term.
  • Despite the fact that Botox contains slightly more neurotoxins than Dysport, the effect of the latter appears faster due to the amount of toxic substances.
  • Due to its composition, Dysport has a high degree of penetration of the substance into tissue. Because of this, the desired result is achieved faster, but there is also a negative side: the likelihood of side effects increases, including such troubles as aches, drooping of the upper eyelid, pain at the injection site and raised eyebrows.
  • The activity of the American analogue Dysport is slightly higher, which is why more of the drug is required for injections. So, for example, just 1 unit of Botox is equal to 4 units of Dysport. This explains why Dysport is sold in larger bottles, but this reduces the price difference to nothing.

If you decide to have a botulinum toxin injection, it is important to know that the drugs cannot be purchased at the pharmacy, because they are not on sale. During transportation of the drug, the “cold chain” principle is used, that is, a low temperature is maintained. Before use, the toxin is diluted with a measured amount of solution, and injections should be carried out no later than an hour after dilution.

Action of Dysport

Dysport is used in cosmetology to eliminate one of the main mechanisms of wrinkle formation - the activity of facial muscles.

Botulinum toxin A eliminates excess muscle contractions by acting on neuromuscular transmission. After administration of the drug, a pronounced relaxation of the facial muscles occurs . But muscle atrophy is not observed, since their blood supply remains the same.

Magic Dysport

The needle is inserted into the skin above the most pronounced wrinkle from one of its ends. Then the patient is asked to frown or squint so that the wrinkle becomes especially noticeable. The toxin is then injected while the needle is withdrawn.

The clinical effect of Dysport appears one, two or three days after the injection and lasts for about six months. In order for the result to be considered permanent and satisfactory, the procedure is recommended to be repeated. During the first year - three times, during the second - two, and then - once a year.

Dysport injections preparation for the procedure

  • A week before the Dysport injection, you should stop drinking alcohol - it can increase the risk of bruising and hematomas.
  • It is advisable to stop taking antibiotics and anticoagulants.
  • In addition, cosmetologists recommend not tilting your head for a long time on the day of Dysport injection.
  • If the head is lowered for a long time, blood circulation in the facial area will increase and the drug may not be distributed correctly. For this reason, it is not recommended, for example, to attend massage sessions, during which you will have to lie face down, iron, vacuum and wash the floor (due to the need to keep your head tilted) and buy shoes (fitting is also usually associated with constant bending ).
  • You cannot sunbathe or visit a solarium. And also visit the sauna or bathhouse about 10 days before the procedure.

Features of the rehabilitation period: what not to do after the procedure

To avoid complications after injections with Dysport, it is important to follow the cosmetologist’s recommendations for managing the rehabilitation period:

  1. Avoid increasing blood circulation. During the rehabilitation period, you cannot physically overload the body (running, dancing, moving actively) and it is forbidden to allow overheating, so you cannot visit the solarium, bathhouse and sauna, or take hot baths. Increased blood circulation will lead to a change in the position of the muscle for the duration of the drug - that is, within 3-6 months it will harden in a distorted shape.
  2. On the first day, be mostly in an upright position. If you take a horizontal position for a long time, a lot of blood will flow to your head, and this can deform the position of the frozen muscle.
  3. Don't push. You should not go to sleep on your stomach with your face buried in the pillow, put pressure on the skin or massage it - this will lead to a shift in the position of the muscle.
  4. Do not touch or use decorative cosmetics. In the first 2 days, you should not touch your face - contact with your hands, on the surface of which there is a mass of bacteria, can introduce infection to the injection sites and cause severe inflammation. For the same reason, decorative cosmetics should not be used.
  5. Don't drink alcohol. Dysport injections contain neurotoxins that your body will take several days to eliminate. Drinking alcohol during this period will lead to increased stress on the liver and kidneys.

By following these recommendations, as well as skin care tips from the cosmetologist who performed the procedure, you will be able to observe the amazingly effective results of Dysport injections in just three days.

Dysport - what is this procedure?

Dysport - like all injectable drugs - is administered on an outpatient basis. The procedure is associated with slight discomfort, if the insertion of a thin needle under the skin is considered as such.

It is performed without anesthesia (as an exception, the treatment site can be cooled with an ice pack). The solution is injected with a thin needle (called an insulin needle) under the skin in the appropriate areas. Most often, the procedure is performed in the forehead, nose and around the eyes.

Where are Dysport injections given?
Injection sites

An experienced doctor can also correct minor facial asymmetry or smooth out wrinkles that begin to appear in the upper lip area. On average, the procedure lasts 3-5 minutes. After the injections, ice is placed on the skin for 10-15 minutes.

Dysport injections - what not to do?

It is strictly forbidden to touch or massage Dysport injection sites. In addition, you should not lie down or play sports for several hours after the injection. And also take antibiotics and analgesics (for example, aspirin).

For 7-10 days after the procedure, it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption and overheating (hot baths, steam baths, saunas). You cannot sunbathe or visit a solarium. Cosmetic procedures are also prohibited.

When does Dysport take effect after injections?

The action of this medicine is based on temporary relaxation of the facial muscles.
The medicine instantly protects the nerve endings, preventing possible stretching and thickening of the skin when different emotions are shown on the face. The relaxed dermis begins to recover, and the folds on it begin to smooth out. In the first days a person may not feel his face at all, but then all sensitive sensations are restored. The cost of performing the procedure is small and quite affordable for many. The effect of a medicine can manifest itself in completely different ways in people, based on the personal characteristics of the person’s body. Before deciding to use the medicine, you should always consult with an experienced physician. You can make an appointment with a doctor in Moscow on the website of the OB clinic salon.” It is worth saying that this procedure is performed within 15 minutes.

Dysport: complications

Complications after dysport can occur if the method and site of administration are chosen incorrectly. And also in case of an inadequate dose or in case of non-compliance with sterility.

Most often observed:

  • accidental entry into a blood vessel;
  • headache after dysport;
  • allergy;
  • nausea;
  • weakness;
  • reversible drooping of the upper eyelid;
  • drooping eyebrows;
  • double vision;
  • swelling of the eyelids;
  • flu-like condition;
  • pain, swelling, redness, bruising, numbness at the injection site;
  • increased sensitivity;
  • muscle weakness at the injection site.

At what age can Dysport be injected?

Dysport is approved for use for cosmetic purposes between the ages of 18 and 65 years. It is best to do injections from the age of 30-33, when, due to a decrease in skin elasticity, facial wrinkles begin to appear intensively.

Dysport can be injected from 18

But if at an earlier age you constantly wince, then for preventive purposes this can be done earlier. After the age of 60, injections should be used very carefully, taking into account all contraindications after Dysport.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis with Dysport

The neurotoxin blocks the sweat glands, reducing sweating. After intradermal injections of Dysport, sweating stops within 2-3 days. The effect lasts 6-12 months.

Thermoregulation, however, is not impaired, and the use of the drug even helps to improve the condition of the skin: it reaches a normal level of hydration. Since injections into the palms, armpits or feet are quite painful, an anesthetic cream is applied to the skin before the injection.

Effect: when it occurs and how long it lasts

If the procedure is performed correctly by a qualified specialist, the positive effect will be noticeable when post-injection swelling subsides. 2-3 days after the session, you will notice that the resulting wrinkles have noticeably smoothed out.

The full result of the procedure can be assessed only after 2 weeks - by this time the skin will fully adapt to the new conditions, and its relief will be completely smoothed out. If there are residual defects, a corrective session may be required, during which injections of Dysport are injected into the problem areas.

Depending on the initial depth of wrinkles, condition and type of skin, as well as on facial activity, the result achieved during Dysport injections can last from 3 to 16 months, but to constantly maintain positive dynamics, cosmetologists recommend conducting maintenance sessions every six months.

The effect of botulinum toxin injection lasts longer from procedure to procedure; if after the first course the positive dynamics persist for an average of six months, then after the second it can last up to 9 months.

Photos before and after

In the above photographs, the effective result after Dysport injections is clearly visible: the drug helps smooth out crow's feet and eliminate nasolabial folds. Aesthetic flaws are not visible even with the active manifestation of emotions.

What other diseases are injections used for?

The main property of Dysport is its ability to relax the muscle into which it is injected. Therefore, its injections are effective in cases where you need to get rid of muscle tension and spasms.

Among the diseases:

  • some forms of headaches and migraines
  • various forms of dystonia
  • cerebral palsy
  • strabismus
  • consequences of a stroke

Dysport - what kind of procedure is it, its features in cosmetology and reviews

Dysport is a procedure with the drug of the same name, which involves subcutaneous injection into certain areas of the face. It does not radically change a person’s appearance, but is rejuvenating. What happens after the injection:

  • facial muscles become sluggish,
  • they are practically not involved in facial expressions,
  • after some time, the muscle fibers completely relax and are at rest.

Dysport: what is this procedure?

As a result, impulses between the facial muscles and nerve endings are absent or pass in limited quantities, due to which existing wrinkles are smoothed out and new ones are not formed.

Dysport is often used in cosmetology because it:

  • safe for tissues - the presence of botulinum toxin in the composition eliminates the risk of negative effects on healthy tissues,
  • can be used at any age, including to prevent the appearance of early wrinkles,
  • the first results can be assessed within 2 days after the first injections, but in some cases it may take a week.

Reviews from doctors about the drug are mostly positive, even its rather high cost is justified - it is extremely rare that any complications or side effects develop after the procedure. Dysport in the facial tissues remains unchanged for several months, then it begins to slowly decompose and is eliminated by the bloodstream and lymphatic system - the breakdown products are absent from the body.
