A beautiful cool blonde is the dream of many women and girls. But for some reason it always washes off quickly. We are used to blaming the hairdresser for this, the dye he uses, but often it is the owner of the hair who applies time to the shade, provoking the rapid appearance of yellowness. We'll tell you how to keep your hair ashy, what habits to give up, and what hair care products to use.
Mistake 1: Using volumizing shampoo
Before tinting
After tinting
Hair volume products have a very aggressive composition, so they wash out the artificial pigment faster. Blondes need to use shampoo for colored hair, preferably one that contains a pigment that neutralizes yellowness. This is a purple shampoo, mask, balm.
Professional care
Nowadays, in any beauty salon you can purchase professional products for the care of blond and highlighted hair. Professional shampoos, conditioners and masks contain special substances that nourish and moisturize the cuticle of the strands. Typically, such products have a thick texture, they are transparent in color, do not contain weighting elements, and they also do not contain silicone or artificial colors.
Trichologists recommend using professional products every day. They include natural extracts, proteins, keratin. These beneficial substances heal the follicles and hair follicles. The functioning of the fatty glands is also normalized. To get rid of yellowness after dyeing blonde, use a special tinted shampoo. It has a lilac hue.
If you can’t restore your curls at home, then turn to a trichologist for help. For severely damaged strands, a screening procedure or SPA therapy is performed. To quickly restore hair, you need to change your diet: food should be light, low-fat, smoked foods and fast food should be excluded.
Mistake 2: Regular styling with hot tools
If you have ash blonde hair, you need to reduce blow-drying and flat ironing to a minimum. High temperature negatively affects not only the condition of the hair, but also the color. They quickly acquire a yellowish or rusty tint (depending on the lightening background).
How to reduce the harmful effects on hair?
If you minimize the regular mechanical impact on the strands, then the problem of how to restore hair after dyeing and provide it with a healthy natural color will be half solved.
A woman begins every day by combing and styling her hair. In this case, a brush that is not the softest may be used, which not only combs, but also tears the hairs.
And if you use a hair dryer after washing your hair, then its hot air dries out the curls that are already overdried after coloring.
The picture of the detrimental effects on the health of strands is complemented by thermal devices such as curling irons or straighteners.
Therefore, to carefully comb hair damaged by coloring, it is recommended to purchase a brush with natural bristles or a wooden comb, which can be used to gently care for even long curls.
At the same time, it is worth getting rid of the habit of combing wet hair, because it is at this moment that it is very vulnerable.
Video:
Drying curls with the hot air of a hair dryer has a weakening effect on the structure of the hairs, the same thing happens when exposed to heat from straightening and curling devices, as well as when the head is heated in direct sunlight.
Therefore, it’s worth forgetting about the existence of such devices for at least a couple of months. If you don’t have time to wait for your curls to dry, you can dry them with a hairdryer by turning on the cool air function.
After chemical hair coloring, it is not recommended to wash your hair daily.
In this case, the fat produced by the sebaceous glands of the scalp is washed off, which means that the natural layer is removed, which should provide protection to the skin and hair from the effects of the external environment.
Important read: How to restore damaged hair?
Therefore, even after the dyeing procedure, you can wash your strands only on the 3rd or 4th day.
If you want to restore your hair after dyeing, including your original color, under no circumstances should you perm your hair in the next two to three weeks.
The interval between these two procedures should be at least one month.
Mistake 3: Using natural hair cosmetics
Today, many women prefer natural hair cosmetics. Its composition inspires confidence, and the condition of the hair seems good after use. However, there are also disadvantages. Natural ingredients included in shampoos and masks, as a rule, are not aimed at maintaining a cool shade. On the contrary, they give the hair a warm, wheatish tone. Therefore, the only thing left to do is either give up the idea of washing your hair with natural cosmetics, or accept the fact that your hair will be golden.

Mask for restoring hair structure
Daily use of a straightening iron or hair dryer without applying heat protectants spoils the hair and makes it lifeless. Damaged locks can be healed with familiar products. Garlic copes best with this task, as it restores the structure of the hair shaft.
Features of use
- Pass the garlic through a press.
- Add vegetable oil to the mixture if your hair is dry; Kefir is suitable for oily scalp.
- Rub the mixture in circular motions into the scalp.
- Wrap your hair in film.
- Insulate with a towel.
- Keep the mask for no more than 15 minutes, rinse with shampoo
- Rinse with cool water and lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. This will get rid of the obsessive odor and add shine to your hair.
- Do not use if scalp is damaged.
- Apply the mask 2 times a week for 3 months.
Mistake 4: Using hair oils
Oils help deal with split ends and make the hair structure smoother and silkier. However, with ash blonde, you need to choose not universal natural hair oils, but special ones designed for an artificial shade. The composition of such cosmetics is adapted to colored hair and does not displace pigment, unlike natural compositions.
Mistake 5: Washing your hair with hot water
Hot water, like a hot iron, helps to accelerate the displacement of artificial pigment. As a result, coloring comes to the color obtained after the lightening procedure many times faster than with proper care. It is usually a yellow tint, sometimes orange, reminiscent of rust.
Summarize:
It is recommended to wash your hair with water at room temperature. This is useful both for preserving hair color and for the quality of hair. It is also worth using special cosmetics that can not only maintain the shine and health of hair, but also neutralize yellowness. And remember that ash blonde must be maintained in the salon. For this purpose, a tinting procedure once every 3-4 weeks is required. This is the secret of perfect platinum blondes.

Caring for colored and blonde hair. Part 1: shampoos and conditioners on the bathroom shelf
Hello!
I started writing this post back in October and couldn’t finish it.
It turned out that it fits perfectly into a flash mob and even the photos were taken in the form of a “shelf”. This was a reason to finally finish it!
So, my experience maintaining bright colors and platinum blonde for 5 years.
Several colorings since 2020, before that there were also pink strands and much more
For many years now I have been dyeing my hair in various shades in a cold range: turquoise, purple, blue, emerald, pink. And a year ago I added blonde to it.
The task of care is not easy: you need to not wash out the color and keep the blonde cool. Also, I don’t wash my hair every day, and my hair tends to get oily at the roots, fortunately there are dry shampoos now.
Not all the tools I used are included in the post, since while I was writing the post several more appeared.
Shampoos:
- Sexy Hair Violet Sulfate-Free Bright Blonde Shampoo
- L'Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Blondifier Cool Neutralizing Shampoo
- L'Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Blondifier Gloss
- Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Freeze pH4.5
Air conditioners:
- TIGI Bed Head Dumb Blond Reconstructor for Chemically Treated Hair
- Estel Prima Blonde
Shampoos

Sulfate-free shampoo Sexy Hair Bright Blonde Shampoo Violet
Aroma:
gentle, sweetish, pleasant, unobtrusive, I really like it, it doesn’t stay in my hair.
Package:
Large and uncluttered, the lid at the top presses down to reveal a hole that doesn't clog or dry out. It is convenient to open with one hand - just press with your finger.
Color:
dark purple with fine pearl. Does not stain hands or objects around.
Action
It foams averagely, since it is sulfate-free, I got used to it at first, but now it seems that it foams perfectly.
It perfectly fulfills its function of preserving color and its coldness. Does not wash out the color zone and prevents yellowness from appearing in the blond/gray zone.
Sometimes I used it as a mask on the roots, left it on for about five minutes and washed it off.
by far the best shampoo I have tried.
, it never fails and all experiments always lead back to Sexy Hair.
The blonde line also has a non-purple version of this shampoo, which I started with, and it also worked great. But since I always have blue/turquoise shades in my coloring, I decided to protect myself and always use purple shampoo.
I highly recommend it for any complex, quick-rinse coloring in a cold range that needs to be preserved.

L'Oreal Serie Expert Blondifier Cool (opaque packaging)
The manufacturer promises to eliminate yellowness, soften, and add shine.
Aroma: very light sweetish, not noticeable in the hair
Packaging: small, flip-up lid, easy to use, no complaints
Color: dark purple, slightly lighter than Sexy Hair. Doesn't stain hands
Action
Not a bad shampoo, but not amazing.
It dries and tangles bleached hair a lot, after which you have to use conditioner and leave-in care. It did not give me any softness or shine. It washes out the color a little, doesn’t make the hair shade cooler, just prevents yellowness a little. It is useless to use as a mask.
It may be suitable for gray colors, but I don’t recommend it for silver blondes. Especially
you can feel
the difference after using Tigi and Sexy Hair.

L'Oreal Expert Blondifier Gloss (clear packaging)
Should nourish, restore color and add shine.
Color:
transparent
Action
I purchased it just to wash off the color before lightening it again and dyeing it in a different tone. And I was right.
It washes out the color and makes the hair very dry. It is impossible to detangle the ends without a balm-mask and a bunch of leave-in care.
Since it is not sulfate-free, it keeps my hair clean longer (and I have oily roots). Therefore, sometimes I use it to “wash my hair better”; the freshness will last a little longer.
The consumption is small, as it foams well.
I don’t recommend it for cool blonde/colored hair, but it can be used for highlighting and warm hair tones.

Micellar sulfate-free Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Freeze pH4.5
My master gave me a miniature of this shampoo to try. But she said it has a good pH so it won't wash out the color. And I was incredibly pleased with it, although I had a slightly biased attitude towards the brand.
It belongs to the pink series - for colored hair. It also contains a mask, conditioner, a purple version of shampoo (for blondes) and there is also a leave-in spray oil that I want to try as soon as possible.
Aroma:
oooooh, it’s beautiful, delicate, powdery-floral and fresh, how I want such a perfume
Color:
nacre
Action
An incredibly comfortable shampoo, quite liquid, with medium foam. The color really fades slightly. It doesn't dry out your hair, but even looks after it. I used it a couple of times without conditioner and was even able to comb the ends.
I had two miniatures, both ran out and I bought purple shampoo from this series. It's not bad, but it stains your hands a lot, which is annoying.
This product is my number 2 favorite after Sexy Hair, I plan to repeat the pearlescent version, and not the purple one, since now I have a fairly simple coloring and the color has already been layered, which means it won’t wash off in one go.

Aroma:

Color:

Action
The conditioner works well to prevent yellowing, but does very little to care for the hair. Afterwards, I still had to use oils on the ends of my hair to make combing easier.
In tandem with a good conditioner it will help maintain the blonde, but I couldn’t use it alone.
Left a purple color on my hands.

Action
This product is created for bleached hair and perfectly restores it. Can be used as a mask - leave for 10-15 minutes.
One of the best conditioners I've tried. Nourishes the ends of the hair, does not wash out the color, and takes care of it. I don’t use leave-in products after it.
I also used several bottles (3-4) of the purple shampoo of the same name from Tigi, but it was replaced by Sexy Hair, since it was easier to buy at that time. Essentially the products are identical.
