Why does hair grow on girls' necks?

Every girl strives to look perfect, but for a number of reasons, sometimes achieving the desired result can be difficult. For example, vellus hair on the face of women can bring a lot of problems - it would seem that they are soft, barely noticeable, but they make the image less attractive.

Today we’ll talk about what causes the appearance of facial hair and how exactly to deal with it. Our instructions for using certain methods will definitely help you get rid of this problem.

Causes of hair appearance

First, let's look at the main causes of facial hair in women. In particular, there is a high probability of disturbances in the secretion of sex hormones - testosterone, which provokes the growth of shoots.

And it appears not only on the face, but throughout the body:

  • on hands;
  • on foot;
  • on the chest;
  • lower abdomen;
  • around nipples, etc.

There are several reasons for the appearance of hairs or fuzz

But there are other reasons for the appearance of facial hair:

  • heredity - if the mother or grandmother had the same problems and they are in no way related to hormonal changes;
  • ethnicity - among women of southern nationalities, unwanted growth is common. This is explained by the activity of solar radiation;
  • taking certain groups of contraceptives;
  • hormonal changes during adolescence.

What if it's hyperandrogenism?

If hair appears on a woman’s face unexpectedly, and she has never had such a problem before, then it is imperative to consult a qualified doctor. Since the appearance of hair may be a problem of hyperandrogenism.

Hair on the face may indicate real health problems

Note. Hyperandrogenism is a sharp increase in the amount of male sex hormones in the female body. The disease can appear for many reasons.

For example, due to an ovarian tumor. Therefore, it is so important to seek help from a doctor as quickly as possible in order to undergo a full diagnosis and identify the true cause of the appearance of hairs, not to miss the development of a dangerous disease and to begin its treatment in a timely manner.

Hyperandrogenism can be accompanied by a host of different and extremely unpleasant symptoms and manifestations:

  • excessive activation of secretions from the sebaceous glands;
  • changes in the menstrual cycle;
  • problems with conception;
  • problems with pregnancy;
  • loss of hair on the head;
  • uncontrolled weight gain directly in the upper body, etc.

Note. Men also suffer from a similar disease. But it is manifested by a drop in the amount of male hormones, which leads to the appearance of certain female characteristics. For example, stopping the growth of facial hair.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that you seek help from a doctor as soon as possible in order to reduce the risk of developing more serious diseases.

Neck hair removal

Everyone knows that the neck is one of the most seductive parts of the female body, therefore, if hair growth is observed there, it immediately catches the eye of everyone around. Women and young girls are extremely ashamed and embarrassed about this, because even one hair or the formation of a barely noticeable fuzz on their neck can provoke stress or even depression. Concern if hair is observed on a girl’s neck is quite justified, because this factor is not just a cosmetic problem, but in most cases it is also a serious symptom, signaling that something is wrong with health. Why do women and girls grow hair on their necks? Long hair on the neck is certainly the most unpleasant cosmetic defect, the appearance of which can be caused by a whole bunch of hidden diseases.

How to get rid of vegetation

There are several ways to effectively get rid of growth. These include folk remedies for facial hair in women, which are easy to apply with your own hands. We'll talk about them in this section.

There are many ways to get rid of vegetation

Lightening

This method will not remove facial hair, but will make it invisible against the background of the skin. So, at home you can use a three percent solution of hydrogen peroxide. You can buy it at any pharmacy, and its price is minimal.

Peroxide is used as follows:

  • moisten a piece of cotton wool or bandage;
  • wipe areas with hair;
  • after five minutes, rinse off the peroxide;
  • repeat the procedure daily until you achieve the desired result;
  • After some time, the hairs will not only become discolored, but will become much thinner.

Hydrogen peroxide will help lighten your hair

Note. If you are afraid that peroxide will lead to skin irritation, it is recommended to mix it with shaving foam. Apply the mixture to problem areas for twenty minutes, after which it is washed off. After rinsing, it is recommended to treat the skin with a nourishing cream.

Removal

If we talk about removing growths, it is difficult to single out just one method.

Because there are several different methods:

  • efficiency;
  • cost;
  • level of pain.

For example, three hair removal methods are expensive, but also effective and painless:

  • laser;
  • electro;
  • photo.

Modern removal methods are painless, but incredibly expensive

But none of these methods can be implemented at home. Therefore, you need to focus on other methods.

For example, we can highlight shaving - a method that is simple and painless, but has a lot of side effects:

  • hairs become thicker;
  • they darken more noticeably;
  • You will have to shave them every day.

Shaving is not the best solution

The second fairly common method is plucking.

But it also has certain disadvantages:

  • increased skin irritation;
  • the appearance of scars;
  • thickening of hairs and their more active growth.

Note. Plucking can only be done if there is a minimum amount of facial hair. And if they are at a certain distance from each other. Although this will still provoke their subsequent thickening.

Facial hair in women: why it grows and what to do

Facial hair can grow either constantly or sporadically. Most often these are light, short and brittle hairs that resemble fluff. They are so invisible that sometimes women are not even aware of their existence. But sometimes the hair is black, hard and thick, resembling stubble - they are called terminal (another name is rod).

Why do women grow such facial hair? This is not easy to figure out because there are many possible causes. Below is a list of the main ones.

  • Hormones. Hair on the chin and above the lips in women can grow at a time when the body is under great stress. For example, the first menstruation has begun or, conversely, menopause is approaching. Then female hormones malfunction, and male hormones, on the contrary, become more active, and there are even more of them. Most often, such an imbalance is temporary.
  • Contraceptives. Oral contraceptives contain hormones, so taking them without a doctor's prescription is not recommended. But often women buy birth control pills on their own, after watching an advertisement or asking a friend for advice. Incorrectly selected OCs can lead to big problems.
  • Heredity. If your closest relatives (mother, grandmother, sister) suffer from increased hairiness, there is a high probability that you will not be spared this disease. If your family has ancestors from the Caucasus or the Mediterranean, there is also a risk of growing a beard.
  • Ovaries. Gynecological problems are often associated with hormonal imbalance. And with polycystic ovary syndrome, there is even a separate symptom: “a mustache and beard begin to grow.” This occurs due to a complete disorder of the reproductive system. In general, any disturbances in the functioning of the ovaries can lead to increased hair growth.
  • Thyroid or adrenal glands. They are the ones responsible for the entire functioning of the endocrine system, but if problems or malfunctions arise in their work, wait for the mustache.
  • Tumor. If a tumor of the pituitary gland occurs, the functioning of the adrenal glands is disrupted. Then they produce a lot of testosterone and, as a result, there is an increase in the amount of unwanted hair on the body.
  • Pregnancy. During pregnancy, hormonal imbalances also occur. Fuzz or white hair appears on the cheeks of women. This phenomenon also occurs after childbirth.
  • Ecology. Residents of environmentally unfavorable areas are often diagnosed with disturbances in the functioning of internal organs and systems. Hormonal functions are also at risk.
  • Stress. Don't be surprised, but any situation that throws you out of your usual rut can lead to beard growth.
  • Obesity. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle and eat just anything, your internal organs will work hard and natural metabolic processes will be disrupted. So, in addition to sagging sides, with an incorrect diet, a girl runs the risk of getting the problem of unwanted hair.
  • Inappropriate cosmetics. Imagine, if you use cosmetics that do not suit you in composition, you can ruin your appearance. For example, a girl is only 18 years old, but she bought herself a cream for 35-year-olds. In this case, instead of velvet skin, there is a high probability of growing a remarkable mustache.
  • Radical removal. You should not get rid of vellus hair using radical methods, such as a razor or epilator. Firstly, such hair is completely invisible to others and does not spoil a woman. Secondly, after removing any of them, hard stubble will begin to grow.
  • Medicines. Long-term use of a number of medications (almost all hormonal drugs, some antibiotics and immunosuppressive drugs) can serve as an impetus for the active appearance of facial hair.

What to do if a woman has hair growing on her face? Wait for the research results. Once the cause is determined and the doctor prescribes treatment, strictly follow the recommendations.

There are several degrees of hirsutism. If mild is diagnosed, then no special treatment is required. If doctors suspect something more serious, it will be necessary to undergo drug therapy or undergo surgery, for example, to remove a tumor.

Treatment of hirsutism with medications is long-term, since it is necessary to accumulate the necessary “base”, ready to deal with the main problem. Hormones are most often prescribed. The cycle is designed for a minimum of three months, but occurs intermittently and lasts at least six months. Often the course has to be repeated, and more than once.

Doctors advise: there is no point in thinking about how to remove facial hair until the cause of its appearance has been eliminated. After all, cosmetically masking a deficiency will not actually solve anything. What is the treatment?

  • Testosterone-lowering drugs. They reduce the body's sensitivity to androgens. In particular, some oral contraceptives have such properties.
  • Drugs for the adrenal glands. Therapy is also carried out with hormonal medications.
  • Chemotherapy. This is a last resort method, which is used in particularly advanced cases, and if the cause of hirsutism is a tumor.

Hormonal treatment should be abandoned if a woman:

  • pregnant;
  • breastfeeds the baby;
  • does not tolerate medications (individual reaction);
  • has malignant formations.

Epilation at home

Considering all of the above, we recommend sticking to hair removal with sugar or wax.

This method allows:

  • remove hairs from the roots;
  • significantly slow down hair growth;
  • make them thinner.

Waxing

To perform waxing, you will need special wax. You can purchase it in virtually any cosmetic store or beauty salon; the price of this product is relatively low.

Wax is sold in two types:

  • in tablets;
  • in plates.

Waxing can be done independently

To obtain wax of the required consistency, tablets or plates should be melted over a fire, and then, using a special stick supplied with the wax, applied to areas of skin with hairs.

After application, you need to wait a little until the wax hardens and remove it from the skin with your fingers - the hairs will be removed along with the wax.

Note. To reduce pain, wax should be applied to the skin in small, separate strokes. They also need to be torn off one by one. In order to prevent possible skin irritation after wax removal, lubricate it with cream - preferably nourishing and moisturizing, for example, baby cream.

As practice shows, after wax hair removal the growth does not appear for at least two weeks, or even a month.

Sugar is a great alternative to wax

Sugar hair removal is performed in similar ways:

  • pour sugar into a thick-bottomed bowl;
  • put on fire and melt the sugar;
  • apply it to the hairs with a thin stick;
  • wait until it hardens and remove with your fingers.

Both methods are quite simple, although somewhat painful. However, they also have one drawback. Repeated epilation can be carried out only if the length of the hairs is at least five millimeters.

In conclusion

Do not be upset or discouraged if you are faced with a similar problem and cannot solve it. By following our recommendations and advice, you can eliminate unwanted facial hair in women.
