One Night (2016)
A remake of the British series Criminal Justice, it quickly turns from a rom-com to a tense legal drama. The son of Pakistani immigrants, Nazir Khan is shy and indecisive. Having received an invitation from classmates to a party, the guy decides to secretly take his father’s taxi. On the way, a beautiful stranger gets into the car and plans for the evening automatically change.
The next morning, Naz wakes up with a headache and no memories of the previous night, but next to a corpse. Loser lawyer John Stone, pursuing his own goals, undertakes to defend the guy in court, and it is unclear whether this is success or failure for Naz.

War and Peace (2016)
The list of the best foreign short series would be incomplete without the classic and more than once filmed story of a love triangle against the backdrop of military and political upheavals in Russia and Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. The BBC version treated the literary source with care, especially highlighting themes that are interesting to the modern viewer - military battles described in detail by Leo Tolstoy and the erotic adventures of the characters, which the writer only hinted at. An interesting fact is that none of the actors involved in the series read the novel before filming.
