Make a scrub before applying lip makeup
Let's start with the fact that any lip makeup should start with a lip scrub. Just like on the skin, dead particles form on the lips, which in no way combine with an even tone. Peeling and dryness instantly go away with a good scrub, which, by the way, you can prepare yourself. For this you will need one and a half tablespoons of regular sugar, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and just a little vanilla for a pleasant smell. Then use your fingers to massage your lips with the prepared mixture using gentle circular movements for 20 seconds. Next, rinse off the scrub under warm running water and wipe your lips with a soft, dry cloth.
Makeup with red lipstick for brunettes, blondes and redheads
To choose the right shades, it is important to decide on the girl’s color type.
There are two types: cold and warm:
- if you have porcelain skin, then choose cooler shades, for example, raspberry, cherry or brighter wine tones;
- for olive skin tone, take a brick or burgundy lipstick;
- Bronze or orange undertones look better on dark skin.
When choosing lipstick, it is important for a girl to take into account the tone of her curls. If you dye your hair, then you should change your makeup accordingly.
The use of lipstick tone depends on the shade of the curls:
- For brown-haired women, any palette of red is suitable. If your hair has a cooler color, then it is better to take cherry and burgundy. For golden strands, coral and dark orange palettes are suitable.

For the office, you can use scarlet lipstick, but it is better to take a matte texture, which looks less provocative than gloss. It looks especially good with a light or white blouse, business suit and tie.
It is not necessary to apply lipstick completely to your lips and clearly outline them. You can create the effect of kissed lips. This is done by driving in the pigment with your fingertips and shading the outline, which allows you to create a more natural look.
The trend is naturalness, that is, just a little cosmetics are applied to the face: a little concealer, powder and eyebrows are emphasized. Red lipstick against such a background will look stylish and attractive, creating a certain accent.

Technique for proper lip makeup
You should start your makeup by applying an even, thin layer of base, which will fill in all the wrinkles and allow the lipstick to last longer. The base can be a light foundation or fluid.
After this, the outline is drawn with a special pencil. The color of the pencil should match the color of the lipstick or be a little darker. If only gloss is used for makeup, the pencil is matched to the shade of the lips, and not to the color of the gloss. The outline should be drawn from the center to the corners. To make it more even, you can draw dots with a pencil, which are then connected to each other with short strokes. The next step is applying lipstick.
You can beautifully paint your lips in different ways: using a brush or directly with the stick from the case. Professionals advise using a brush. With its help, lipstick goes on smoother and the contour is clearer. In addition, you can mix several colors to achieve the desired effect.
The first layer is applied from the center to the corners of the mouth, then the lipstick should be lightly blotted with a napkin. To make your painted lips appear fuller, before applying the second layer you should powder them a little and apply a layer of gloss on top of the lipstick. These are the main rules for how to beautifully paint your lips so that they look natural and perfect. There are some peculiarities in the makeup technique when applying bright lipstick.
How to wear red lipstick?
First of all, you need to choose the right shade. There are quite a lot of them - bright scarlet, cherry, coral. You need to focus on skin color: the darker the skin, the brighter the shade. For dark-skinned women, red-brown lipstick is suitable, orange shades are for those with peach-colored skin, and classic red is ideal for fair-skinned girls.
To apply red lipstick to your lips, you must strictly follow all the rules for applying makeup, it is especially important to draw an even and clear outline, and also be sure to blot with a napkin, powder and carefully apply a second layer of lipstick. Hi all! Today I want to show you a makeup option using Shiseido Tender Sheer red lipstick. Of course, this is not a full tutorial, this is just my vision of evening makeup with bright lipstick with detailed instructions on how I did it.

I hope you are no longer scared of how I look with virtually no makeup)) Step 1.
Apply foundation.
In my case, this is Lancome Teint Idole with a foam sponge. The sponge gives a thinner coverage and the skin remains matte longer than when applied with fingers. Washing with lazlo has borne fruit, almost all pimples have disappeared, and the redness from them is easily masked with foundation. Step 2.
Apply the corrector to those spots that did not want to be hidden by the tone, dust the skin with a light veil powder.
Next, I apply YSL Y-mail on the cheekbones, you can use your favorite blush, it doesn’t matter. The model in the photo has a more beige blush than mine, but I will later correct the cool tone with bronzer. Step 3.
As you can see in the photo above, I have almost no eyebrows of my own)) So I draw them on myself using eyebrow shadows.
It turns out like this: This look is the base look for all my makeup.
Step 4.
Apply Lumene eyeshadow base to the eyelids. It will correct the redness of the eyelids and allow the shadows to last longer. And we draw arrows. Everyone draws using whatever they can - I have a Guerlain inner eyeliner pencil for this purpose. It is very soft and gives a thick line that blends well.
I don't like heavily lined eyes all over the eyelid, so I only line the right side of the upper eyelid.
The arrow should be a continuation of the lower eyelid and go upward. This will give the eyes a “cat-like quality” )))) Step 4.
The emphasis in makeup will be on the lips, so choose light eye shadows. I chose a gray-lilac satin dior and applied it with a “corner”, slightly shading along with the arrow.
Step 5.
Apply the rest of the shadows - light pink (not bright) in the corner of the eyes, and on the left side of the eyelid, shading it with gray. And white under the eyebrow.
And shade all the borders of the colors well to create a “haze.”
Step 6.
Paint the lips. I apply lipstick myself; I don’t have any special equipment for this. Now it’s very clear that the blush is practically invisible))) The face is flat and white. Therefore, we take blush for sculpting.
Step 7
In my case, I will base my cheekbones with Soleil Tan de Chanel.
Apply it under the cheekbone and blend it very well so that a “shadow” appears. Place the lightest shimmer you have on the top of your cheekbone. I used the lightest meteorite balls and the lightest shade YSl Y-mail. Step 8.

Thin lips
Now thin lips are not a problem, because they can be easily corrected with makeup! The most important rule that you must remember is not to use dark and matte lipsticks for thin lips, as they visually make the lips appear even smaller.
Your arsenal should include lipsticks and glosses in fairly light natural tones, preferably containing shimmering particles - by reflecting light, they visually increase volume. If you like rich or dark colors, then it is better to choose pearlescent lipstick or gloss also with a large number of reflective particles.
As for the contour pencil, everything is the same here - with thin lips, a contour pencil of a darker shade than lipstick can visually make the lips much smaller. Therefore, try to choose a pencil that matches the color and tone of the gloss or lipstick, or is half a tone lighter.
Thin short lips like Jennifer Aniston
Outline thin and short or medium-length lips with a pencil, deviating from the natural border by 1 mm, but no more! This way you will visually enlarge your lips, but it will not look vulgar. The line should be smooth and the outline generally rounded.
Makeup artists have another tricky trick: apply a light contour along the edge of the lips, and then apply gloss directly along the contour of the lips. If you don’t like lip glosses, then you can not cover your lips completely, but simply apply dots on top of the lipstick - this technique will also help to visually enlarge thin lips.
Thin long lips like Gwyneth Paltrow
If your lips are not only thin, but also long, the emphasis should be on their middle part.
Using a pencil, we rounded the contour of the lips, drawing a line no further than 1 mm from the natural border and not reaching the corners of the mouth. To prevent the new contour from blurring, gently blend it with a brush and powder. It is best to use two tones of lipstick and gloss: the middle part of the lips can be made more intense in color, and it is better not to attract too much attention to the corners of the lips.
Plump lips
Happy owners of full lips do not necessarily need to correct their shape or increase their volume - nature has provided them with everything they need! Girls with plump lips are recommended to use matte lipsticks.
Of course, no one forbids you to buy lip glosses and glossy lipsticks, but you must remember that they increase volume even more. It all depends on the desired effect, so it’s up to you to decide what to prefer. There are often cases when girls with excessively full lips even try to reduce them by drawing a contour not along the natural border of the lips, but slightly retreating inward. As for colors, there is a wide choice, but do not forget that light shades visually enlarge the lips, while dark shades make them appear smaller.
Plump long lips like Angelina Jolie
When applying lip makeup, fill in their contour by applying a thick layer of concealer. Stepping back from the natural border of the lips about 1 mm inward, draw a new contour with a pencil, connecting the upper and lower lines in the corners. Then apply loose powder to your lips and cover them with a cool-toned matte lipstick. Whether to cover your lips with gloss or not is up to you, but makeup artists do not recommend doing this for those who have excessively full lips.
Plump short lips like Sophie Elist Baxter
If your lips are full but small, then you can slightly lengthen them by drawing a 1 mm line at the corners of your lips with a contour pencil. Lipstick should be applied to all lips, and then a dot of transparent gloss should be placed in the center - this will give them a seductive look without adding much volume. You can also mix two lipsticks, applying the dark one in the center and the light one around the edges (softly blend the transition).
Lip makeup rules
- Lip makeup is done last.
- Please note that the color of the lipstick should be in harmony with the color of the blush.
- To prepare your lips for makeup, apply a little moisturizing balm to them - it will give them elasticity and eliminate flaking of the skin.
- You can deviate from the contour when correcting your lips by a maximum of 1 mm, no more! In this case, all lines should be smooth and rounded, and the contour should be shaded “inward”, towards the center of the lips.
- For natural makeup, it is not at all necessary to use a contour pencil.
- For long-lasting makeup, you not only draw a contour with a contour pencil, but also paint over the surface of the lips, and then apply long-lasting lipstick on top. The color of the contour pencil should perfectly match the color of the lipstick or be one shade darker.
- It is better to apply lipstick with a brush - this way it goes on smoother, the layer is thinner and more accurate. Using a brush is also easier to draw an outline without using a pencil. The brush must be synthetic and must be stored in a case so as not to get dirty or rot.
Procedure for lip makeup
- Apply a little foundation, concealer or loose powder to your lips - thanks to this technique, lipsticks and glosses fit better and last much longer.
- Use a contour pencil to create the outline of your lips - outline yours or draw a new one.
- Apply a layer of lipstick with a brush.
- Blot with a napkin.
- If desired, you can apply a second layer of lipstick.
