The capacity of the Russian market for thermal insulation materials is estimated at 47 million cubic meters. Expanded polystyrene accounts for about 20% or 9 million cubic meters. These figures were given by the director of the Association of Producers and Processors of Expanded Polystyrene (APPP) Yuri Savkin , speaking at the II Annual Conference “Polymers in Thermal Insulation 2015”
“According to our estimates, about 18-20% of the Russian market of thermal insulation materials is accounted for by polystyrene foam, stone wool takes up more - 37%, glass wool - 32%,” Yu. Savkin told the conference participants.
According to the APPP, about 150 thousand tons of polystyrene are processed annually in Russia. “This is what the data on the texture of construction polystyrene foam is based on,” said the director of the association.
The capacity of the domestic market for thermal insulation materials in monetary terms is estimated by APPP experts at 140 billion rubles, in particular, the expanded polystyrene market at 17 billion rubles.
“Regionally, the expanded polystyrene market has changed a little. The center of Russia began to lose its position in terms of the pace of construction and application of polymer thermal insulation. If earlier it accounted for half, now it is 40%. The southern direction has made good progress due to the Olympic construction. In general, all regions have risen a little,” concluded Yu. Savkin.
According to Yuri Savkin, currently 90% of expanded polystyrene in the Russian Federation is produced for construction, primarily for low-rise buildings. Facade brands occupy about 25% of the total production volume.

According to one of the authors of the recommendations, executive director of the ANFAS association Mikhail Alexandria , 26,610 thousand square meters were installed in Russia in 2014. façade thermal insulation composite systems (SFTC), 42% of them using expanded polystyrene.
