Hi all!
We all try to cleanse our hair of dirt, dust and sebaceous secretions regularly, some more often, some less often. It all depends on what type of hair you have. I think with clean, fresh hair we all feel much more confident than vice versa.
When is it better to wash your hair in the morning or evening? This question cannot be answered unequivocally, since everyone must decide for themselves. But, I’ll just try to give various arguments in favor of washing your hair in the morning or evening.
If you wash your hair in the morning
I have already forgotten the last time I washed my hair in the evening, most likely during my school years. For me, morning is the most convenient time of day for this procedure.
- Hair is fresh all day long.
- You can do any styling.
- More free time in the evening.
- There is a risk of getting sick.
- Having to get up early.
For those with oily scalp, this is especially true. I think many will agree with me that walking around with greasy, matted hair is quite unaesthetic. Also, everyone who wears bangs tries to at least wash them, but in the morning, because they get dirty the fastest due to contact with the skin of the forehead.
All hairdressers advise styling on clean, washed hair. This way it will last longer and your hair will not lose shape during the day and will look lush and voluminous. I have a friend who washes her hair in the evening, styles it, but by the morning she is still not happy with her hairstyle, and she again grabs the iron, thereby causing irreparable damage to her hair.
Free time of the day can be devoted to your favorite activities. Or let’s say carry out various facial skin care procedures and apply a night mask. At the same time, you don’t have to be afraid that your clean hair will get dirty, because you still wash your hair in the morning.
This applies to the cold season. Therefore, you need to wash your hair as soon as you wake up so that it has time to dry. Even using a hair dryer, the hair will not be completely dried. Doctors advise drying your hair with hot dryers 30 minutes before going outside so that temperature changes do not affect your hair. If your hair is wet and you are not wearing a hat, then the likelihood of contracting a dangerous disease increases. It is also not recommended to wash your hair with cold water, even if the hot water has been turned off.
If you are a morning person, then there is nothing to worry about, but for owls, waking up 30 minutes early is like death. Of course, I’m exaggerating, but there is no need to commit violence against yourself. And it's better to wash your hair in the evening. As a last resort, oily hair can be washed every day before going to bed.
These are the pros and cons I found in washing my hair in the morning.

How to wash your hair correctly (a few important rules)
I think you all know how to wash your hair properly? But I still want to talk to you about this topic once again. Although we wash our hair constantly, there is always the question of whether I wash my hair correctly, why my hair doesn’t look the way I want, and many more such questions arise before us. And I also always thought that I should wash with hot water, but it turned out that this is harmful to the hair. Everything seems simpler, but, alas, not always. That’s why today I want to talk about the rules of washing your hair.
So, what are these rules or tips on how to wash your hair correctly?
The first thing I would like to draw your attention to is the selection of shampoo. It must be matched to your hair type (oily, dry, normal, combination). Moreover, if you have a combination hair type (oily at the roots, dry along the length), you need to use shampoo for oily hair.
- How often to wash your hair - depending on how dirty it gets (individually). You shouldn't wash it too often, but you shouldn't let your hair get too dirty either. You should not allow itchy skin, oily, sticky hair, or a significant amount of dandruff to appear. If you have healthy hair, then once every 6 - 7 days. Water for washing hair should be soft, pleasantly hot temperature (38 - 40″).
- Comb your hair thoroughly before washing - since combing stimulates blood supply to the scalp and also removes some of the impurities. In addition, after washing, the hair will be less tangled and much easier to comb. Before washing colored, dry and damaged hair, a ten-minute scalp massage will be useful, which should preferably be supplemented by rubbing in olive, castor, flaxseed, hemp or burdock oils.
- Applying shampoo - should always be applied twice during one wash. Since during the first soaping, only part of the dirt, dust and sebum is removed from the hair. And it is also considered correct if you apply shampoo not to your hair, but to your scalp, or to your palm (especially if it is a concentrated shampoo), rubbing it with a small amount of water, then apply to your scalp. Next, use your fingertips (not your nails) to rub the shampoo into your scalp and use your palm to evenly distribute the shampoo over the top layer of your hair. This needs to be done as quickly as possible, since the shampoo should be in contact with the hair for no more than a minute - this time is enough for complete cleansing. When washing your hair, you should always move from the roots of your hair to their ends, since this direction coincides with the direction of the cuticle scales. Wash your head with careful circular movements of your fingers.
- Rinsing hair - after using detergents, hair must be thoroughly rinsed with water. Hair rinsing can be combined with hair strengthening. To make hair of any type more shiny, it is better to rinse it with an acidic solution.
- Drying hair - it is best to dry your hair with a warm towel. The best way to dry is to let your hair dry naturally, sometimes using a warm towel. Quick drying with a hairdryer or dry heat is very harmful, as the hair easily becomes dry. But, if you need to dry your hair quickly, then use the cold drying mode, holding the hair dryer at a distance of at least 40 cm from your head.
I think you are familiar with all these rules or advice. And, if you find something new and important for yourself, then it’s best to remember it and start applying it. But when your hair is ready after washing and drying, you can think about a new haircut. If you wash your hair in the evening
This is the most favorite time among Russians, but in Korea, basically everyone washes everything in the morning, clean, flowing, fragrant hair is the main decoration of girls and boys.
- There is no need to rush anywhere.
- Smooth well-groomed hair.
- Going to bed with wet hair is harmful.
- Possibility of contracting a neurological disease.
- In the morning my hair is oily again.
For many, getting an extra minute of sleep is a great joy, and therefore washing your hair in the evening is the best option. You can slowly make your favorite mask and calmly wash and dry your hair naturally. For some, washing their hair after waking up even provokes lower back pain.
If your hair is of normal or dry type, then washing your hair in the evening, taking into account that it is completely dry before going to bed, will make it shiny and smooth. Buy a pillowcase made of natural silk and sleep only on it, because such material can smooth out hair scales.
If you wash your hair in the evening, then do it 3 hours before bedtime. They must be well dried, otherwise in the morning you will not look very attractive, and you will have to style your hair again, and in advanced cases, wash your hair completely. Your hair curls very unsightly while you sleep, and this causes it to deteriorate and split. Read more about combing wet hair here.
Here again, wet hair, and hence a damp pillowcase, everything is cold and unpleasant, and if you add a draft or turned on air conditioning, then this is a direct path to various diseases - from a mild cold to a serious neurological disorder.
This can happen if the room you slept in was too stuffy and your hair and skin tend to be oily. The first thing that becomes dirty is the bangs and hair on the temples; the problem can be aggravated by the fact that a nourishing cream was applied at night. In the morning, it may seem that the hair around your face requires washing again.
This is where the advantages and disadvantages of the evening head wash end.
You need to wash your hair according to folk wisdom
Our ancestors took washing their hair much more seriously than what happens today. A modern person washes his hair when he considers it necessary, but does not even think about the fact that he could harm himself by doing so. Therefore, it is worth reading what knowledge the ancient Slavs had on this matter and how you can preserve the beauty of your hair and your luck by simply following their advice.
Monday
You can’t wash your hair, otherwise failure awaits you all week. Perhaps this sign does not apply to some, but many have noticed that this is indeed the case. It’s unlikely that washing your hair on Monday is worth it so that later your whole everyday life goes awry and there are only problems with work.
Tuesday
In European countries, it is customary to begin implementing great plans on Tuesdays. That is, you can safely wash your hair, and in addition to the signs of the ancient Slavs, spa treatments are recommended.
Wednesday
According to the ideas of our ancestors, it is on Wednesday that a person’s head and his thoughts have special clarity and this is the best bathing day. Today is Wednesday - the middle of the work week, and indeed, there is slight fatigue, but on the other hand, we are already somehow drawn into the process and the discomfort of Monday is no longer there.
Thursday
On Thursdays, for some reason, you have to wash your hair before dawn. According to the signs of our ancestors, this enriches us with energy and contributes to the accumulation of positive thoughts. Even the saying “He who gets up early, God gives to him” was attributed to Thursday in omens.
Friday
This day of the week for ancient people and for Christians in general is associated with the crucifixion and torture of Jesus Christ. Therefore, there is a weekly fast on Fridays, and therefore, according to popular belief, you should not wash your hair on this day. Before lunch, you should do without fun, without marathon and without household chores. The worst thing about this sign is that if you wash your hair on Friday, your hair will fall out profusely.
Saturday
On this day, when everyday work is over, a modern person gets to work cleaning the apartment, and then he definitely has a bath day. Our ancestors were of the same opinion, recommending that on Saturdays we clean up the house and go to the bathhouse.
Sunday
In ancient times, they religiously adhered to religious canons, and therefore Sunday was considered a day of rest, prayer and leisure with the family. That is, on this day you should take care not of the body, but of the soul. Which means the head will have to wait until Tuesday.
Exam
These are no longer ancient, but proven, modern signs: if you wash your hair before an exam, you will wash away all your knowledge. The same applies to important negotiations and interviews - in this case, luck may run out.
Here everyone decides for themselves: to wash their hair or go to negotiations with an unwashed head.
About drying
So, drying is the final stage, when the hair can be given the necessary shine and the hairstyle can be given shape. After completing the water procedures, you should lightly pat your hair with a towel, but under no circumstances rub it, much less twist it to squeeze it out. After all, now the scales are still open after washing, which means it is especially easy to damage the cuticle. Combing wet strands is also not recommended, but if they are very tangled, you can run a wide-tooth comb through them while applying the balm or mask. Please note that there should be no damage to the cloves so as not to touch the scaly layer. Of course, to keep your hair healthy, you shouldn't use a hair dryer too often, and we know that. But what if there is sorely not enough time for natural drying? Here, products with thermal protection should help us; the components they contain protect the hair from the penetration of hot air, and therefore make blow-drying not so dangerous at all. The ingredients of protective products cover the hair with a film, and moisture cannot escape from it. This way the inner lipid layer remains intact.
What should you wash your hair with?
Choosing a cleanser for your hair is an important part of ensuring proper hair care. In mass market stores you can find a huge number of shampoos, conditioners and balms.
Their range is so wide that the average consumer has difficulty choosing the right product. Some focus on the ingredients, for others the price is important, while others buy products from advertised brands as soon as they see a commercial on TV or on the Internet.
Practice shows that almost all the products on the shelves of such retail outlets are nothing more than a mixture of chemicals that negatively affect the general condition of the hair. The sensational SLS alone is worth it! Lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate are cheap surfactants that allow the product to foam well and supposedly cleanse the hair.
In fact, such additives wash away the protective layer, which makes the curls dull and increases the need for more frequent washing. Use shampoos with ingredients of natural origin.
The natural ingredients they contain are not addictive; these products not only cleanse the hair, but treat it. The effects of shampoos containing artificially obtained ingredients weaken over time (this explains the recommendation of trichologists to change the shampoo used from time to time).
As an alternative, you should consider pharmaceutical drugs with specialized action, but you should first consult your doctor.
Hair care products are not limited to shampoos. It is very useful to use for cleansing hair:
- soap (laundry, tar and even baby soap without fragrances and dyes are suitable);
- oils (ideal for dry curls; it is common to use olive, almond, coconut, and wheat germ oils);
- baking soda (for many this will seem surprising, but the product really cleanses hair of grease and dirt);
- beaten egg yolk.
Such home remedies will not only keep your hair beautiful and healthy, but also save a lot of money.
