When the sebaceous glands begin to work incorrectly, and the cells cannot retain precious moisture molecules inside themselves, the scalp begins to flake, dandruff, itching, a feeling of tightness and dryness appear, the hair becomes brittle and split. If you do nothing about all these manifestations, they will only get worse, which can lead to serious problems - advanced seborrhea, alopecia (baldness), hyperkeratosis and other diseases. Very dry skin requires a special approach: firstly, regular and thorough care, and secondly, comprehensive treatment must be carried out. But first, it is advisable to understand exactly what factors led to this state of the epidermis and try to eliminate them.
Styling hair with curling irons, flat irons, and hair dryers greatly affects the condition of the scalp.
Causes
The scalp becomes dry for two reasons: the sebaceous glands do not produce enough oil and the cells do not have enough moisture. Why is this happening? The following factors can lead to this:
- frequent use of a hairdryer, straightener, curling iron, tongs;
- using too hot water when washing your hair;
- dehydration of the body;
- incorrect, disturbed metabolism in the body;
- serious internal diseases;
- if body temperature does not drop for a long time;
- poor nutrition;
- non-compliance with drinking regime;
- avitaminosis;
- lactation;
- smoking and alcoholism.
Try to objectively assess your lifestyle and the state of your health in order to identify the factors that cause your dry scalp, and with it a lot of unpleasant accompanying symptoms. They also need to be able to recognize and distinguish them from ordinary dry hair or dandruff. This will allow you to choose the right treatment and tell you what to do with this scourge.
Important advice from the editors! If you want to improve the condition of your hair, you should pay special attention to the shampoos you use. A frightening figure - 97% of shampoos from well-known brands contain substances that poison our body. The main components due to which all the troubles on the labels are designated as sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, coco sulfate. These chemicals destroy the structure of the curls, the hair becomes brittle, loses elasticity and strength, and the color fades. But the worst thing is that this nasty stuff gets into the liver, heart, lungs, accumulates in organs and can cause cancer. We advise you not to use products that contain these substances. Recently, experts from our editorial team conducted an analysis of sulfate-free shampoos, where products from Mulsan Cosmetic took first place. The only manufacturer of completely natural cosmetics. All products are manufactured under strict quality control and certification systems. We recommend visiting the official online store mulsan.ru. If you doubt the naturalness of your cosmetics, check the expiration date; it should not exceed one year of storage.

How I got rid of an itchy scalp on CGM
I planned to write this post back in December, but I decided to test my conclusions over time. The narrative is divided into blocks to make it easier to understand.
With the switch to CGM and the abandonment of aggressive cleansing of the scalp, I was absolutely happy - the need for daily shampooing, which had tormented me for many years, disappeared. Every other day I conditioned my hair with Tresemme conditioner or Yves Rocher Hawthorn Hair Wash Cream and everything was fine.
But with the arrival of the treasured handsome man from DevaCurl into my life, everything changed.
After several uses, a terrible itching appeared in the back of the head. What’s most interesting is that the scratching started in the late afternoon after washing and lasted about an hour. Returning to the usual cleansing products did not help solve the problem - my skin itched absolutely from everything, no matter what I washed my hair with. At first it was not very annoying, but over time the itching intensified and the final icing on the cake was peeling. I’ll omit the details about how I began to leave pieces of my skin along with the fallen hair in every corner of the apartment, on my child, cat and husband... just kidding... I don’t have any cat. In fact, everything was not very scary, but this was the first time I experienced this.
Words are unnecessary, my condition is fully reflected by a famous picture from the Internet:
I really didn’t want to return sulfate shampoos and start again every morning with washing and drying my hair for many hours; for the sake of a free day from this routine, I was ready to do anything.
Having suffered enough, I decided to understand the cause of the itching. The Internet was replete with various articles on this topic, in which almost unanimously the authors in the forefront named allergies and seborrhea as the culprits of itching. To make a correct diagnosis, it was naturally necessary to see a doctor, but for some reason my inner voice suggested that I could wait a little. At that time, I already had the famous book by Lorraine Massey, which mentioned my delicate problem. And do you know what the curly hair guru advised? “If it itches, scratch it,” Lorren asserted. But in my opinion, this is the worst advice, because scratching will create wounds through which infection can spread.
The book also indicated the cause of the itching, which was supposed to go away after an unknown period of time, and ways to alleviate the condition of the sufferer.
I liked the exfoliation idea and immediately decided to implement it. The usual homemade salt scrub did not bring any relief, but on the contrary caused additional discomfort and a terrible burning sensation during use. The scrub mask from Nolla, peeling from Lador and my favorite mask O from Sim sensitive had absolutely no effect, the itching remained at the same level.
While going through in my head all the remedies available at home that could help, I remembered Ayurvedic herbs, oils and aloe gel.
Aloe gel
Perfectly moisturizes, stimulates skin restoration and accelerates microcirculation, soothes inflammation and relieves skin irritation.
The next time itching appeared, I applied it locally to the scalp and rubbed in a little. Relief came almost instantly, the skin calmed down and the itching went away.
Well, Ayurvedic herbs have become the most effective way to get rid of itchy scalp.
So, 3 favorite and effective herbs for fighting itching: neem, fenugreek, ritha.
Nim
Eliminates dryness, flaking, itching, various skin diseases, fungi and dandruff.
Fenugreek
Gives additional volume, strengthens strands, prevents hair loss, eliminates itching and dandruff, stimulates growth, and normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands.
Ritha
Thoroughly cleanses hair and gives it natural shine. It has antibacterial, antifungal properties, regulates the activity of the sebaceous glands, stops hair loss, the formation of dandruff and promotes the growth of new hair.
Of course, I didn’t limit myself to 3 types of herbs and also added amla, shikakai, kapur swing, bhringaraj, colorless henna, etc. to the masks.
Amla
Reduces itching of the scalp, acts as a prevention of dandruff, and conditions hair well.
Shikakai
Increases hair growth and thickness, gives it excellent volume and natural shine, eliminates split ends, revitalizes and perfectly moisturizes the skin. Prevents dandruff.
Kapoor swing
It is a natural antioxidant and stimulant, invigorates the scalp and promotes growth, increases hair shine, making it thicker.
Bhringaraj
An effective remedy against hair loss and graying. Improves blood circulation, tones and nourishes the scalp, strengthens hair follicles, eliminates split ends, acts as an antiseptic, treats various skin diseases, and has an antifungal effect.
Henna colorless
Strengthens hair, gives strength, density and shine, soothes and cleanses the scalp.
In addition to herbs, the following oils were excellent helpers in solving my problem:
Black cumin oil An effective antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral agent, eliminates itching, regenerates inflamed skin areas.
Tea tree oil Effective for acute and chronic inflammation of the skin, helps strengthen hair and eliminate dandruff, has an antimicrobial and antiseptic effect.
I did not use all of the above herbs at the same time, but took in various combinations no more than 4-5 types at a time (about 5 g of each), brewed with boiling water, left for 15 minutes, added tea tree oil (5 drops) and black cumin (5 grams) , then applied to the hair roots for 1 hour . I made and continue to make masks once a week, but immediately after the first use I felt relief.
It took me about 3 months to completely get rid of itching and peeling, I hope that, as Lorraine Massey said, my skin has recovered and recovered.
Below is a photo of my huge but flaky parting, not for the faint of heart!
Thank you for your attention, beautiful hair everyone!
