Washing and cleaning artificial hair

Artificial hair products must be washed at least once every 2-3 months, which will remove dirt and styling products from them and restore their softness. If you use them very intensively, then much more often. Artificial hair should be washed in soft water (ordinary tap water is not suitable for this purpose) at low temperatures. Dilute 15 g of shampoo in two liters of cool water and beat into thick foam. First, wash the middle of the wig, its base (monture), then proceed to the hair.

Using a semi-rigid brush, apply foam to hair and gently comb along the entire length. You can simply soak the wig in soapy water for 10-15 minutes, straightening the strands to prevent tangling, then rinse and repeat the procedure with an antistatic agent: dilute 15 ml of the product in 300 ml of water until completely dissolved (select the amount of liquid depending on the size of your products) and carefully lower your hair there for 2-3 minutes. Then carefully remove and shake off the water.

After washing, artificial hair should be placed on a stand and left to dry completely. You can first wrap the strands in a towel, but do everything very carefully so that they do not get tangled.

Once the product is completely dry, the artificial hair can be combed.

Tips for caring for artificial hair

Finally, a few more recommendations for caring for artificial hair:

  1. You can soften the water for washing artificial hair by first freezing it and letting it melt, boiling it, purifying it through a special system, or adding soda to it (at the rate of 1-2 teaspoons of soda per 1 liter of water).
  2. To make artificial hair soft and smooth, use fabric softener to wash it (preferably an environmentally friendly one without phosphates).
  3. Do not wring, rub or twist synthetic hair while washing and drying.
  4. Do not use thermal devices for drying and styling artificial hair: hair dryer, curling iron, curling iron, hot rollers.
  5. Do not use alcohol-containing products when caring for artificial hair.
  6. Do not store synthetic hair products near fire sources or in direct sunlight.
  7. When wearing artificial hair products, treat them with specially designed sprays that protect the strands from damage due to rain, snow, wind, and ultraviolet radiation.

By the way, another very useful mask:

We take proper care

If you are concerned about how to make your hair coarser, the very first thing you can do is to provide it with optimal care. Don't get carried away with balms and conditioners: they are designed specifically to make the hair on your head softer. So let's look at a few options:

Henna

Dyeing deprives your hair of excessive softness. It is good to use henna for these purposes - it is a safe and effective way to add brightness to hair, which at the same time will help strengthen it. And if you are blonde and don’t want orange-colored hair, colorless henna is perfect for you. It literally envelops and thickens every hair, healing it and making your hair more voluminous.

More on this volume: Strengthening hair with henna - truth or myth

I periodically (unfortunately, not very regularly) make masks with colorless henna, sometimes with the addition of a few drops of lemon juice.

I haven’t had to experiment with colored henna yet. As a result, the hair becomes a little stiffer. But don't expect a huge effect. To see the result, you need to regularly work on your hair and make masks (for example, with the same colorless henna), because in one application hair that is too soft and thin cannot in any way become hard. And of course, look at yourself, because everything is individual.

Soap

Those who have ever had to wash their hair with soap probably later wondered why their hair was so coarse. This is another simple, but very individual method that allows you to combat excessive softness of hair on your head. In some cases, laundry soap thickens hair well, making it more pliable for any styling. In others, the hair becomes like a “loofah” and cannot be combed.

To ensure that your hair is washed better after using soap and does not lose its natural shine, you can use water with a small addition of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar instead of rinse aid. If you are afraid of drying out, it is recommended that after soap you rinse your hair with a decoction of medicinal herbs, such as burdock root, nettle or oak bark.

I want to repeat that this method is not suitable for everyone, because some use this method, while others say categorically no. Unfortunately, or maybe in this case fortunately, I cannot share my experience, but I can note that among my friends no one uses this.

Oak bark

A decoction of oak bark will make thin hair more manageable and crumbly. For this use 1 tbsp. spoon for 1 glass of boiling water. It is enough to boil for 5 minutes and let cool and brew. Then rinse clean hair with the broth. An important point is that such rinsing makes the hair darker, so this option is not suitable for blondes.

Egg yolk

Another remedy that can be recommended for those who have too soft hair is to use egg yolk instead of shampoo. You just need to apply the beaten mass prepared from it to your entire head, thoroughly rubbing it into the roots and skin, and then after 30 minutes, rinse it all off with warm water without detergents, combing out the egg fibers with a brush. At the end of the procedure, you can rinse your head with slightly acidified water.

Masks for dry hair with dandruff

With dry hair type, the same dry and unpleasant dandruff is often encountered. You can get rid of it using the most common home remedies.

Compound:

  • Castor oil – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • Strong tea – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • Vodka – 1 tbsp. l.

How to do:

  1. Mix the components of the mask in a clean bowl.
  2. Rub the product into the scalp.
  3. Wash off with water after a couple of hours.

Honey and cabbage

Compound:

  • Cabbage juice – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • Castor oil – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • Aloe juice – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • Honey – 1 tbsp. l.

How to cook:

  1. Combine freshly squeezed cabbage juice, liquid honey, castor oil and aloe juice.
  2. Rub the product into the scalp.
  3. After 7 minutes, rinse with water.

>Garlic against dandruff for dry hair

Compound:

  • Garlic juice - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • Lard - 1 tbsp. l.

How to make a mask:

  1. Mix garlic juice with melted lard.
  2. Rub into scalp for two hours.
  3. We wash our hair with shampoo.

Homemade masks make dry strands smooth, shiny and elastic. Repeat them twice a week, and within a month your hair will become the envy and admiration of the women around you.

Lamination - let's go to the salon

If you want to achieve a more lasting and long-lasting effect, you should think about the procedures offered in beauty salons. When a woman has soft and thin hair, hairdressers often recommend lamination. This is a special hairdressing service that involves covering the hair with a certain composition that creates a strong protective shell on its surface. Thanks to this effect, the scales are laid in the correct direction and fixed in this position, which prevents the fragility of the hairs and helps to strengthen them.

Soft and hard: which is better?

The stiffness and thickness of hair is determined genetically, so some girls have thick curls, while others have thin and soft curls. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, those with coarse hair often complain about excessive oiliness on the scalp, while those with soft hair often complain about dryness, dandruff, and styling problems. At the same time, thin hair is easier to wash, and thick hair is easier to style.

Today there are many shampoos, conditioners, sprays and other products on sale to increase hair thickness that promise to make it tougher. But you can care for and style your curls at home by using safer ingredients in natural masks.

How to tell if your hair is porous?

determine your hair type without the help of specialists. Reviews from people who have succeeded say that it is enough to comb them thoroughly and run your hand through your hair. If the strands are rough and don’t feel silky, your hair is porous.

There is another way: take your hair and start stretching it, a healthy hair will only stretch slightly, but a porous hair will break pretty soon. Healthy curls are smooth and have a natural shine; fluffy, porous hair is usually dull, brittle and lifeless.

Leave-in masks, silicone serums and conditioners are suitable for caring for thin, oily hair.

With regular use, they will make your curls silkier and less greasy. Please note : caring for thin, colored hair is different from usual. Choose products labeled for colored hair.
