Facial oils: how to use them in skin care

The benefits of essential oils are a topic that is widely discussed in medicine and cosmetology today. Many women prefer these natural, healthy products to create homemade personal care products. In addition, treatment with essential oils is widely practiced in alternative medicine and Ayurvedic practices. The strong vibration characteristics of essential oils, which have already been proven by scientists around the world, can have a beneficial effect on both the psycho-emotional and physical state of a person. There are many ways to use essential oils in everyday life so that they are beneficial, healthy, and preserve youth and beauty.

Methods for obtaining essential oils

There are several ways to obtain essential oils.

  • Distillation – Only tree bark and leaves are used for this process.
  • Extraction – inflorescences, petals and roots are used for this technology. Medicinal plants and raw materials are placed in a special apparatus, adding an extractant to them. This component is a necessary additive in the production of the finished product. Once the plant ester is obtained, the extractant is completely removed, leaving the consumer with a high-quality ether.
  • For mechanical extraction, only the peels and fruits of plants are used. This is a pressing method.
  • Another way to obtain essential oil is enfleurage, one of the first methods used by people. To produce the desired ester, animal and vegetable fats, which have no odor, are used. During the production process, the fat is applied in a thin layer to clean, dry glass. Freshly picked flowers are laid on top of it, from which it is necessary to obtain ether. The petals remain on the glass for up to 3 days, after which they are replaced with fresh ones. This manipulation is repeated an average of 25 times, this increases the concentration of ester in fat. After completing this procedure, you can obtain a compound of aroma and fat called “lipstick”. This substance is placed in alcohol, which is evaporated. The resulting substance is called absolute essential oil.

Methods for obtaining essential oils are designed in such a way that a person consumes a quality product that can be used for his own purposes. Knowing the rules for using each essential oil will strengthen the body, preserve beauty, and clean the house.

How to choose an essential oil?

Many people do not know how to distinguish natural essential oils from synthetic ones, so they buy low-quality products that do not provide any benefit. There are several rules to follow when making a purchase.

  • You need to buy essential oil at a pharmacy or specialty store.
  • It is necessary to pay attention to the container in which the product is located. Natural aromatic oils are poured into dark glass containers. A transparent bottle is the first sign of low quality of the product offered.
  • Be sure to carefully study the composition of the oil and chemical additives - it cannot contain foreign elements.
  • You should also find out how the oil was made.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the smell of the ether. Even a highly concentrated product cannot be too rich, rough or harsh. The aroma of the ether should be strong, but uniform, and there should be nothing repulsive in it.
  • You also need to know from which plants it is impossible to obtain beneficial ester. There is no strawberry, banana, strawberry butter. For the manufacture of such products, additional flavorings and harmful substances are used. The product may cause side effects and skin diseases.
  • You need to pay attention to the price - a quality product cannot be cheap.
  • It is also necessary to look at what country the oil was made in. Essentially, esters are produced in those countries where the necessary plants or trees grow.
  • Experts can also tell you how to choose the right product. You should definitely read reviews about essential oils and important recommendations. If you are making a purchase for the first time, you can look at a photo of essential oils to know what it should look like.

Irritating essential oils

Essential oils obtained from plants used as spices can irritate sensitive skin. Thus, oils from mustard and horseradish are not used in aromatherapy, and oils from cinnamon and cloves are only used for inhalation.

Different species of the same plant or different parts of it can have different irritating effects on the skin. Thus, oil from the leaves of the cinnamon tree causes less irritation than oil from the bark. And cedar pine oil is very irritating to the skin, while Scottish pine oil is the least irritating.

Citrus oils, especially lemon, as well as lemon-scented oils (citronella, lemon balm, peppermint, lemongrass, lemongrass, lemon verbena) irritate hypersensitive skin, so if you decide to use them, be sure to dilute them to 1-1.5% or reduce the dosage in the instructions by half.

Sometimes moderate irritation or redness of the skin is required for medicinal purposes - to improve blood circulation for rheumatism and muscle pain. For such cases, the best oils are rosemary, marjoram, black pepper and juniper.

How to store essential oils?

You need to know not only how to use essential oils at home, but also how to store them correctly; the quality of the product depends on this.

  • Oil can only be stored in a dark glass bottle; the presence of a plastic cap or special seals on the bottle is unacceptable. If oil comes into contact with plastic, it results in the formation of toxic substances.
  • The bottle must only be in a vertical position.
  • After using the oil, the container is tightly closed. Ingestion of air causes the highly volatile substances in essential oils to evaporate.
  • When using oil, you need to make sure that no water gets into the bottle. This will shorten the shelf life of the product and spoil its quality.
  • Proper storage requires compliance with a certain temperature regime. You can put the bottle in a closet so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight. It is prohibited to store citrus essential oils at room temperature. Citrus oils should only be kept in the refrigerator before and after opening the bottle. Coniferous esters, on the contrary, cannot be placed in a cold place, they will thicken. The temperature should be the same all the time, without sudden changes.
  • The shelf life of essential oils is also an important indicator that needs to be monitored. Citrus essential oils are stored in a closed container for 1 year, after opening the bottle - only up to 4 months. Coniferous oil can retain the full amount of beneficial substances for 2 years. The rest of the ethers are stored on average for up to 5 years if all conditions are met.
  • It is strictly prohibited to use an expired product; you may get burned by the essential oil!
  • The use of cold ethers is also prohibited. Even if the oil has been in the refrigerator, you must leave it at room temperature for 30 minutes and then use it.
  • A freshly prepared mixture of essential oils retains all beneficial substances in full for 1 week if stored correctly.

  • Each package contains detailed instructions, which should be carefully studied so that the use of the oil does not cause adverse reactions, allergies, rashes, etc.

Esters in home cosmetology

There is a table of essential oils developed by experts that will tell you how to use aromatic oils in home cosmetology. Wikipedia contains the same information, so before you start using any broadcast, you should carefully study all the information.

A table of cosmetic essential oils will help you figure out which products should be used for what.

The beneficial properties of essential oils presented in the table allow every woman to properly and fully care for herself. This table contains the most common esters. Instructions for use of each product are included in each package.

You also need to know how to use essential oils correctly. If a product or composition is used for the first time, a sensitivity test should be performed. It will be enough to drop just a few drops on the back of your hand. If after 10-15 minutes no discomfort occurs, you can use the recipe.

What oils are good for the skin of the face and body?

When wondering which essential oils are beneficial for facial skin, you need to know whether this product is natural. There are not only plant-based ones, but also those that are not made from natural materials. For example, Vaseline is liquid paraffin. Its use is not recommended. The product will not only not improve the condition of the skin, but will also worsen it.

There is no need to use products that contain a lot of unknown components - various chemicals, dyes, fragrances. It is better to buy the most common oil mixtures without additives. Only vitamin supplements in the composition can be added to the list of exceptions - they are beneficial for the dermis.

You should also be careful with aggressive components. For example, manufacturers often add red pepper tincture to burdock oil. This is done in order to speed up the growth of hair on the head. But such products are not suitable for the face, especially if the skin is sensitive. This can cause redness, rash, and irritation. Such products are used extremely rarely for the body, so it is advisable to give preference to regular oils or mixtures of them.

Basic oils for face and body:

  • olive;
  • linen;
  • wheat;
  • grape;
  • pink;
  • burdock;
  • coconut;
  • almond;
  • lavender;
  • castor;
  • apricot;
  • citrus;
  • camphor;
  • jojoba;
  • shi.

It is impossible to single out the best oil for the face or body, since they are all good in their own way. You can choose by smell, price, texture, consistency and any other parameters. It is not necessary to constantly change them, you can choose only one. With regular use, the desired result will be achieved in any case.

It should be noted that moderate consumption of these products as food will also have a positive effect on the condition of the skin. They have a lot of useful properties, heal the body, and prevent vitamin deficiency.

Oil formulations can be mixed, alternated, added to store-bought cosmetics - scrubs, masks, gels, creams, and so on. If they are used for the body, then they are added to shower gels, wash-off and leave-on balms, and lotions. You can also add a few drops of any of the above oils when taking a bath. The thick liquid will be distributed in the water, even if you add a very small amount of the product. After just a few such procedures, the skin will become softer, more tender and more pleasant to the touch. Sometimes nourishing oil compositions are used during massage - distributed over areas on the back, neck, and chest.

Do not use too much product. You need to dose the product correctly, as it is thick, greasy and remains on the skin even after repeated washing. If a mask is being made, then it is necessary to wash the face with tonic so that the dermis on the face is not greasy and does not acquire an unnatural shine.

Differences between cosmetic and essential oils

Obtaining essential oils is possible through the use of complex technological processes, the result of which is a highly concentrated product. Many people do not know the difference between cosmetic oil and essential oil.

Cosmetic oil is a finished product that does not require additional additives. It can be immediately applied to the skin or hair. Such cosmetics also provide the desired result; many choose it because of its ease of use.

Esters must be added to base oils. In their pure form they are practically not used. Their properties are fully revealed in combination with other components. There are many simple, affordable ways to use essential oils in home cosmetology. The results from such procedures will not take long to arrive. In addition, such products have a beneficial effect on the entire body.

What does “cosmetic facial oil” mean? Types of oils

Cosmetic oil is a composition of several natural oils (base and/or essential), possibly supplemented with vitamins and other components of natural origin.

This is a finished product, which is intended to improve the appearance (but not for use for food purposes!) of oily consistency without an aqueous phase. The name “cosmetic oil” for the face, body and hair can hide a mixture of vegetable and mineral oils, mono-oils and oil cocktails, including base products, esters and other active ingredients. Therefore, before purchasing, it is advisable to carefully study the composition.

Initially, cosmetic oils were understood as ordinary edible oils, the use of which should not be abandoned even now. As a rule, this is a product of the first cold pressing, which retains the largest amount of the healing components of the plant, and also does not contain foreign impurities.

On a note

It should be borne in mind that some cosmetic oils can be edible (for example, olive or flaxseed), and some are used only for external use (for example, camphor).

Essential and basic

All cosmetic oils for the face and body are divided into 2 types: base products (conductor oils or bases) and esters. They have different compositions and work with different effects.

  • The first are the best natural preparations obtained by cold pressing without chemical or temperature treatments. You can choose a product for any type of epidermis; it can be used from 18-20 years of age. Such products are able to retain moisture in the skin.
  • The second are volatile, aromatic substances, obtained mainly by distillation with hot steam. They have a powerful effect on the body, both internal and external, as well as a strong aroma.

Despite the different composition, if you use base and essential oils in combination to care for your face, body and hair, you can count on a quick and powerful response.

Liquid (fatty) and solid (butter)

Cosmetic oils can be in different states: liquid and solid.

Liquid or fatty oils:

  1. Easily retain their “liquid” texture.
  2. Normal temperature for their storage: from +22 to +25 °C.
  3. They can be refined (purified) and unrefined (unrefined, unprocessed). The second option is more useful.
  4. They can be used both in their pure form (on their own) and as a basis for preparing masks, scrubs, and creams.
  5. They have good transport properties, that is, they easily penetrate the skin, delivering beneficial substances inside.

It is advisable to store such oil products at room temperature, away from sunlight and in a dark glass container with a lid.

Solid or batter:

  1. They harden at temperatures below +30 °C.
  2. They can be used either solo (in their natural form) or mixed with other fatty oils, melted in a water bath.

Batters include hard shea butter (karite), mango, cocoa, coconut and palm. Often used for making scrubs, creams, homemade soaps and lip balms at home. Should be stored in a cool, dry, dark place.

Water-soluble essential oils

Water-soluble oils are transformed during the production process, preserving all the beneficial properties of the ether, while they are easily used in home cosmetology.

Most often, such products are already included in care products, complementing them with their beneficial qualities.

  • They effectively cleanse the skin, nourishing it with beneficial substances. They are included in gels, foams, masks, creams, and massage oils. This product is completely safe for children and has no contraindications. Thanks to its mild but deep effect, it nourishes skin cells, launching regenerative processes.
  • Such products can be added to ready-made cosmetics. They completely retain their properties and do not reduce foaming during use. Such an additive will not cause the mask or cleansing toner to separate. Water-soluble oil is completely included in the composition of the product, enhancing its beneficial effects on the skin and hair.

Essential oils for face

Today, many cosmetic brands include essential oils in their products. However, no one is stopping you from buying a bottle of oil suitable for your skin type at the pharmacy and enriching your cosmetic masks, lotions and scrubs with it (1-5 drops). For the face, essential oils can be used either alone or in combination with base oil (almond, castor). An exception is lavender essential oil, which is applied undiluted to the face (to lubricate burns, acne, herpes). In addition, tea tree essential oil can be applied in its pure form. It is effective in fighting acne. With its help, you can remove warts - a cotton wool soaked in oil should be attached to the skin and the compress should be held for as long as possible. Essential oils, acting as biologically active substances, easily penetrate all layers of the skin, nourish and smooth it, provide an even complexion, and mask age spots.

Washing your face with water enriched with essential oils

Each time you wash your face, add 1-3 drops of essential oil per liter of water - this will provide you with a beautiful complexion, refresh and smooth your skin. Choose the oil that is most suitable for your skin type.

You can prepare water for washing in a plastic bottle. However, in this case, it is better to prepare a fresh solution each time, since essential oils cannot be stored in plastic containers for a long time.

Essential oils for dry skin

If you have dry facial skin, those oils that stimulate metabolic processes and improve regeneration are optimal. For dry skin, you can choose essential oils of orange, geranium, chamomile, jasmine (soothing effect). Essential oils of geranium, rosewood, lavender, and tea tree have a smoothing effect.

Essential oils for oily skin

Oily skin needs essential oils that help tighten pores and have an anti-inflammatory effect. Ylang-ylang oil, lavender, chamomile will come in handy.

Essential oils for normal skin

Normal skin also requires rest and proper care. Lemon and juniper oils have a tonic effect; you can also choose rosemary essential oil for normal facial skin.

In the fight against fine wrinkles, it is advisable to use jasmine, rose, chamomile, and mint oil. Essential oils of frankincense, pine, myrrh, and sandalwood can help with expression lines around the eyes. And with deep wrinkles, mint, fennel, frankincense and pine oils will help.

  • You need to refill the pendant once every 3-4 days, depending on how quickly the smell dissipates.
  • An aroma pendant will not only be a good preventative method, but will also improve the health of the body as a whole.

Healing properties of esters

Treatment with essential oils is widely practiced in alternative medicine. Even the prescription of conservative therapy can be supplemented with such agents. Compresses with essential oils provide qualitative reactions. Most often they are prescribed to reduce the intensity of pain in the back, joints, and soft tissues. Penetrating deeply, the beneficial components of the esters quickly reduce the inflammatory process, alleviating the human condition. The oil acts as a natural antispasmodic.

The doctor will tell you in detail what to do to alleviate the condition, and will tell you what essential oils are needed. The treatment procedure is quite simple:

  • Moisten a cotton or flannel napkin in water at room temperature. Squeeze out excess moisture.
  • Apply 2-5 drops of the required essential oil to a napkin.
  • Apply a napkin to the damaged area and bandage it using an elastic or regular bandage.

You can also apply warm compresses.

  • Prepare a mixture of base and essential oils in a 2:1 ratio.
  • The bandage should be carefully wrapped for several hours.
  • The water for the compress is warm, but not hot.

Important!

In the presence of chronic diseases, the use of aroma compresses is possible only in consultation with the attending physician!

  • The medical composition of some drugs may include a crystalline substance obtained from essential oils. The added component can enhance the therapeutic effects of ointments, gels, and other formulations.
  • The use of essential oils in medicine can cope with many diseases. It is not recommended to select recipes and ingredients on your own. A suitable ether should be prescribed by a doctor after examination. He will also tell you about the necessary procedures, dosages, and frequency of use of the prescribed oil.

Rules for using essential oils

1. First of all, you should evaluate the dynamics of the aroma: stormy, hot (stimulant), confidential, warm (adaptogen) or calm, cooling (calming). Cholerics and people prone to high blood pressure should use minimal dosages of hot aromas (ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme, cloves), while melancholic and hypotensive people should use relaxing aromas (sandalwood, lavender, jasmine). Adaptogens (neroli, leuzea, petit grain, mandarin) can be used without restrictions.

2. You should read the information about this essential oil (in the description).

3. You should always start your acquaintance with a new essential oil with one drop.

4. For people with a history of allergies, a three-day test of the aroma for individual tolerance is required. On the first day, you should apply one drop to a handkerchief or aroma locket and bring it to your nose 4-5 times during the day, taking 7-10 breaths. On the second day, a test is carried out for skin tolerance to aromatic hydrocarbons: mix essential oil with vegetable oil in a ratio of 1:5 and apply to the bracelet area of the wrist. On the third day, it is advisable to take a bath with 1-2 drops of essential oil. The duration of the procedure is 5 minutes. If within three days there was no pain in the eyes and lacrimation, sore throat, redness of the skin at the site of application of the essential oil, or feelings of nausea, then the aroma you tested will not be allergen-hazardous for you.

DOSAGE

1. All dosages of essential oils are drop dosages - not bottled, much less barreled!!!

2. You should start using essential oils with the most minimal doses; perhaps they will be sufficient for you. There is no arithmetic average person in the world, so it is advisable, out of respect for your individuality, to gradually reduce the dosage even relative to the recommended ones. Moreover, resistance (susceptibility) to essential oils increases over time. So, starting with one drop, we gradually get used to five, and then we feel great from three.

3. Women generally require higher dosages than men.

4. Children love essential oils for their aroma and quick help in difficult times. The effectiveness of aromatherapy in pediatrics is very high. However, it is important to remember that children’s dosages are lower than adults: so, for children under 12 years of age, drops of essential oil from the annotation (initially diluted to 50% of the base base) are multiplied by a factor of 0.12 and by the age (full years) of the child. (So, for 3 years: five drops multiplied by 0.36 = 1.8. Rounding, we get: 2 drops of 50% essential oil).

5. Dosages of essential oils for the elderly and pregnant women are always half the average doses.

6. In aroma makers, the concentration of essential oils is on average 5 drops per 15 m2.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

1. Essential oils are concentrated substances consisting of alcohols, phenols, ketones, aldehydes, terpenes, esters, so their use, with rare exceptions, requires dilution (vegetable oil, alcohol, cosmetic preparation, honey, yogurt, wax).

2. The nose and skin love aromas, but the eyes, on the contrary, cannot stand direct contact with essential oils. You should always remember this.

3. Essential oils are most often thought of as dessert additives or spices rather than as breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Their use on an empty stomach is undesirable (with rare exceptions).

4. If you use fragrances for cosmetic purposes, do not add essential oil to the entire jar of cream or bottle of shampoo at once. It’s better to enrich your cosmetics with fragrances by putting a small amount of base in a separate container. This way, you can always be sure that the composition of the prepared mixture has not changed during the interaction of the components of the essential oil and the cosmetic product. In addition, it is always useful to make sure whether this fragrance in the selected concentration is suitable for your skin (hair).

5. The first two times it is advisable not to take a bath for more than five minutes. Do you feel great after a bath? You can gradually increase the time.

6. When using essential oils in an aroma maker, the first two sessions should not last longer than 20 minutes.

7. During pregnancy and epilepsy, the use of essential oils is possible only under the supervision of specialists in this field of medicine.

8. You should not get carried away with stimulating aromas before bed, unless you intend to perform feats all night.

9. Always drink plenty of fluids (at least 2 liters per day) when taking aromas in the form of baths, massages or internally.

10. Oils with pronounced peppery, spicy tones can irritate the skin (D. Wabner).

11. Hyperemia (redness) of the skin in response to the application of essential oil more often occurs in people with very fair skin; in this sense, dark-skinned people are more fortunate.

12. Some essential oils are phototoxic because... they stimulate hypertrophied melanin formation, which harms the quality of the pigment itself. This appears 48 hours after sunbathing. A large, unevenly outlined spot the color of a very dark tan appears at the site where the aroma was applied (spots from skin photosensitization should not be confused with pigment spots!).

WHAT TO DO IF AN AROMATIC TROUBLE ARISES?

1. If essential oil accidentally gets into the eye, you should first rinse it with eye drops (Sofradex, Albucid) or purified oil (macadamia, olive, corn), and then with warm boiled water, then put an eye patch on the affected eye Hydrocortisone ointment.

2. If you have applied an essential oil to your skin that has caused irritation, you should apply macadamia oil mixed with hyssop, rose or rosewood in a 1:3 ratio to this area.

3. If taking essential oils internally is accompanied by heartburn, belching, or a prolonged sensation of an aromatic taste, you should reduce the dosage by a factor of three, take the aroma strictly on a full stomach and wash it down with kefir, yogurt or juice with pulp.

4. If the skin shows a solar reaction to the aroma, the following mixture should be applied to this area in the form of a compress every night for 3 weeks: 1 tablespoon of kefir + 2 drops of rose essential oil. The spot will gradually lighten and disappear in 2-3 weeks.

DURATION AND LIMITS

1. There is no cellular, tissue, organ or systemic addiction to aromas, since there is no pharmacological dependence on aromatic hydrocarbons. When simultaneously emptying a bottle of your favorite oil and a wallet with “perishable metal,” drug withdrawal syndrome does not occur. Although a slight sadness appears as a companion to parting with what you love, this is natural.

2. According to all the canons of nature, it is advisable to use the same essential oil for no more than 21 days and then continue to use it after a break (7-14 days), but no more than three times a year. During this time, the body assimilates aromatic information using trained self-regulation mechanisms. As a rule, after a break, dosages should be reduced by 25% as resistance to aromas increases.

3. To avoid an aromatic “mess,” you should not take more than 7 drops of any essential oils per day.

4. The science of mixing aromas requires deep immersion, so you should remember the mixing rule: optimal household compositions consist of a minimum of two, and a maximum of seven essential oils.

5. Regarding aromatic stimulants, the rules are more categorical: their use is strictly symptomatic. If you need to get ready before an exam (negotiations, taking an important step), you should take a bath with lemongrass. Another thing is overwork. A whip is not the best method of combating fatigue; a pillow and blanket (as well as incense, lavender, sandalwood, chamomile, valerian) are much more effective.

AROMATIC CAUTION

Apart from clean water and air, there are no substances or objects in the world that are suitable for absolutely everyone. So, for one housewife, a grater is a tool for preparing delicious salads, and for another, it is the cause of abrasions on the hands. Essential oils are no exception.

So here are twenty-two reasons why you need to be careful when using fragrances.

People suffering from epilepsy and the fur-like form of schizophrenia: the presence of organic brain lesions, the so-called “white spots” of higher nervous activity, may manifest as an inadequate reaction to aromatic impulses. Therefore, the issue of using aromas falls within the competence of the treating psychiatrist. The list of essential oils that are absolutely harmless for this group of people is very small: lavender, orange and lemon.

Pregnant women: the issue of using essential oils in this case is a very sensitive topic. The easiest way is to slam the door leading to aromatic joys in the face of women awaiting the birth of babies. But if we take a less formal approach, we can say that the careful use of some essential oils is not only acceptable, but also desirable during pregnancy: orange, bergamot, geranium (caution), jasmine (caution), kayaput, lavender (caution), incense ( caution), leuzea, limette, lemon, mint (caution), nioli, neroli, petit grain, rose, rosewood, chamomile (caution), pine (caution), tea tree, eucalyptus.

Phototoxic essential oils: orange, grapefruit, leuzea, lime, lemon, mandarin, petit grain, rosemary, thyme. Do not apply to skin immediately before sunbathing. However, the internal use of all these oils promotes a more effective and faster tanning, prevents burning and the formation of spots.

Essential oils that irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract: anise, bay, verbena, geranium, oregano, jasmine, ginger, cedar, pine, patchouli, palmarosa, fir, rosewood, citronella, thyme. Never take on an empty stomach! Do not take more than 3 drops of essential oil per day! Mix essential oils with honey, jam, vegetable oil, wine and drink 200 g of acidified water, tea, juice, kefir, yogurt. For gastritis and peptic ulcers, it is better to avoid the internal use of these aromas.

Essential oils not recommended for kidney disease: spruce, jasmine, juniper, fir, sandalwood.

Essential oils that require caution in case of increased blood clotting: anise, basil, hyssop, cypress. In any case, the continuous use of these fragrances should not exceed 21 days, after which the minimum break is 14 days.

Essential oils that require caution for frequent cramps: hyssop, rosemary.

Essential oils that require caution for high-grade hypertension: bay, cloves, oregano, ginger, cinnamon, juniper, nutmeg, rosemary, citronella, schizandra, thyme, sage. The use of these aromas is possible with dosage adjustment: 12 - 13 to the average dose. Often the vascular reaction to aroma is temporary and adaptive in nature and disappears after 5–10 days.v

Essential oils used with caution for hypotension: valerian, jasmine. The use of these aromas requires dosage adjustment: 12 - 13 from average. Often the vascular reaction to aroma is temporary, adaptive in nature and disappears after 5–10 days.

Essential oils used with caution for insomnia: nutmeg, sage, schizandra, citronella, thyme. You should not use these scents after 6 pm unless you plan to go to bed in 5-6 hours and not later.

Essential oils, long-term inhalations of which lead to overstimulation: cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, schizandra, sage, thyme. Do not smoke continuously for more than 4 hours!

Essential oils, the use of which is undesirable for nervous exhaustion: cloves, cedar, cinnamon, nutmeg, schizandra, citronella, sage.

Relaxation aromas, the use of which is undesirable before performing actions that require active mobilization of mental and physical activity: valerian. Using the properties of this oil is possible 4-5 hours before an event that requires composure, determination and concentration.

Essential oils that can cause skin irritation: bay, clove, ginger, nutmeg, rosemary, cinnamon, fir, citronella, thyme, schizandra, eucalyptus. For hypersensitive skin types, these fragrances should be diluted in the following proportion: 1 drop per 15 g of base.

Essential oils that cause a short-term but intense burning of the skin: orange, verbena, cloves, oregano, cinnamon, tangerine, juniper, nutmeg, rosemary, citronella, thyme.

Essential oils that are not compatible with alcohol: cedar, thyme.

Essential oils not recommended for anemia and the use of iron- and iodine-containing medications: lavender.

Essential oils that cannot be combined with homeopathic medicines: mint, chamomile. The dominant nature of these aromas “cancels” the effect of homeopathic remedies.

Aromas that can provoke short-term laryngitis (hoarseness of voice): lemon balm, schizandra. The duration of unpleasant symptoms is about 2 hours.

Essential oils that are energetically incompatible with karmic diseases (neoplastic diseases, psoriasis): frankincense, cypress.

Essential oils that are not advisable to use continuously for more than two to three weeks: anise, basil, hyssop, geranium, cinnamon, cypress, lemon balm, juniper, nutmeg, pine, citronella, thyme, sage.

Essential oils that weaken the sex drive of men: mint. Naturally, the minimum concentration of various components in one drop of essential oil guarantees the absence of side effects; however, when choosing your essential oil, you must always take into account your problems.

Aromatherapy is an aesthetic technique. A sense of proportion is a sign of high taste.

How to enrich cosmetics?

Medicinal plants and raw materials that contain essential oils can enrich finished cosmetic products with their beneficial components. The raw materials must be collected correctly and on time so that they ultimately produce useful oil. It can also be processed into cosmetics for skin and hair care.

MPs containing essential oils undergo several drying and processing processes before the finished product reaches the store counter. The herbal product made does not contain harmful additives, so it is perfect for enriching cosmetics.

The use of essential oils to enrich skin care creams should be competent. For 150 g of face cream, only 15 drops of a suitable ether are allowed to be added. You can also make your own healthy cream. This requires:

  • neutral (baby) cream;
  • base oil – 150 g;
  • suitable essential oil for face – 15 drops.

Mix the ingredients and use as a regular skin care cream.

Healthy tonic

Suitable types of essential oils can also be included in prepared beneficial skin toners. Required:

  • herbal infusion;
  • pure water;
  • alcohol – 1 tsp;
  • essential oil – 2-3 drops.

Mix the infusion of beneficial herbs with water in equal proportions. Dissolve the oil in alcohol and add to the rest of the ingredients. Mix the mixture thoroughly, strain, and pour into a tightly sealed container. The finished lotion is suitable for daily care of the skin of the face and neck. The effect of finished lotions may differ depending on what types of essential oils were used for preparation.

Aromaled

Many people do not know why essential oils are needed in home cosmetology. Based on the ether, you can make an aromatherapy beneficial for the skin. You need to take:

  • honey – 1 tsp;
  • essential oil 2-4 drops;
  • water.

Mix the ether with honey, then dissolve in water. Pour the mixture into ice trays and freeze. Use ice cubes to wipe your face. This will restore a healthy complexion, relieve redness, and eliminate inflammatory processes.

The list of enriched cosmetics should be supplemented with useful shampoo: while washing, add 1-2 drops of oil to the finished product, mix, and wash your hair. You can add the oil directly to the bottle. For 100 ml of shampoo add 10-13 drops of ether.

The vibration that essential oils provide after contact with the skin will penetrate inside, activating a person’s internal reserves. This will have a beneficial effect on the condition of the whole organism.

Terms of use

In order not to harm the skin, but, on the contrary, to improve its condition, you need to follow some rules.
It is important to understand that oil should not be used without any other means; it cannot completely replace face cream - this can dry out and dehydrate the skin. For example, a good alternative would be to simply add a few drops of oil to your cream. In addition, manufacturers carefully select the composition of care products. It also contains oils (from 10 to 40 percent), but in addition to them, the cream or serum also contains other components that are beneficial for the skin. Therefore, a properly selected cream will be much more effective and healthy, especially if it is chosen taking into account the age-related characteristics of the skin.

The oil can also be applied pointwise to individual areas that require appropriate care. Or, for example, when there are no other moisturizers at the moment. It can even be applied as a base for cream. This is explained by the fact that oil simply retains moisture in the skin, but it itself is not water, it is fat. It turns out that you also need replenishment in the form of a cream.

Inhalation

The classification of essential oils will help you choose the right product for inhalation. This is true during the cold season. The procedure will be a good prevention of viral diseases.

If inhalation of essential oil is performed for the first time, you need to know how to test it for an allergic reaction. The product used can perform several functions at once - cleanse the lungs, remove pathogenic viruses.

Something to remember!

If a person suffers from respiratory diseases or asthma, the procedure is carried out only under the supervision of a doctor! A specialist will help determine the time of the procedure and select the appropriate oil.

  • You can perform cold inhalation by applying -12 drops of ether on a clean handkerchief. The aroma should be inhaled deeply for 10 minutes.
  • Hot inhalation involves the use of a special inhaler. Add 2-4 drops of ether to hot water, cover your head with a towel. The procedure time is 5-10 minutes. The steam should not burn the mucous membranes. During inhalation, be sure to close your eyes.

Aroma massage

The classification of essential oils allows you to choose a product that can be used during a massage. The ether can tone or, conversely, relax. The use of ethers during a massage will have a beneficial effect on the human nervous system. The skin will also become healthier; the beneficial substances of the ether, penetrating into the cells, will nourish them and restore them.

By studying the table of uses and properties of essential oils, you can find out which of them are suitable for relieving pain caused by rheumatic diseases, which will work as a general tonic. All these nuances can be suggested by a professional massage therapist.

The essential oil chart shows that a product derived from nutmeg will relieve pain and inflammation. Citrus oil will help get rid of fat deposits in problem parts of the body. Sandalwood and jasmine oil will tighten the skin. Most often they are used during anti-cellulite massages.

Aroma massage rules

To prepare the massage mixture you should take:

  • base oil – 15 ml;
  • suitable essential oil – 5 drops.

It is necessary to select ether not only based on its beneficial properties, but also on its aroma. During the session, a person should feel a pleasant, relaxing smell. All hand movements should be soft, circular. In order for the ether to fully impart its beneficial properties, after the massage you should rest for at least 20 minutes without getting up from the couch. It is not recommended to go outside for an hour.

Aroma bath

Many people do not know what else, besides cosmetics and aroma lamps, essential oils can be used for. This supplement while taking a bath will help you relax, relieve stress, and restore vitality. There are several rules to follow:

  • Take a shower before the aroma bath.
  • Add ether not to water, but to sea salt, milk, honey. Only then pour it into water.
  • The water temperature should not exceed 38 degrees.
  • The duration of the procedure is 25 minutes.
  • Do not use detergents or shampoo while taking an aromatic bath.
  • After the procedure, the skin should dry naturally; do not dry it with a towel.

You can take such baths several times a week.

A few centuries ago, people figured out what essential oil was. They understood what benefits and harms are hidden in the ethers of useful plants, trees, and fruits. Knowing why each ether is used, you can improve your health, prolong youth, and preserve beauty. Simple and healthy recipes will make your life more flavorful and better.
