How to cook “Garnish for meatballs in tomato sauce”

Peel and wash the potatoes. Cut it into pieces and put it in a saucepan. Fill with cold water and place on the stove. Bring to a boil and simmer until soft for twenty minutes.

When the potatoes are ready, drain the liquid and pour the milk into the pan. Then cut the butter into pieces and add to the potatoes with milk.

Finely grate hard cheese that melts well. Wash the parsley, cut off the hard stems and chop the greens with a knife. Add herbs to potatoes. Mix thoroughly and serve hot.

Delicious meatballs with gravy: step-by-step recipe

  1. Let's start with minced meat.
  2. We choose minced meat according to our taste and capabilities. One thing to remember: pork is fattier than all the others. Place the minced meat in a deep bowl, add salt, a mixture of different peppers and spices to taste.
  3. In some recipes I have seen that they add 0.5 teaspoons of sage. I personally cooked it once: I liked it, I felt a pleasant tart aroma. Sage goes well with peppers and dried garlic. After mixing a little, divide by eye in a bowl into four parts. Approximately a quarter of the minced meat is the volume of rice that we add. I don’t recommend taking a lot of rice, because it won’t be meat with rice, but rather rice with minced meat. It is better to choose round-grain rice.
  4. We wash it first. Mix everything and put it aside.
  5. Let's start with the onions: peel three onions. One will go into minced meat: we chop it as finely as possible - chop it with a knife or put it in a blender. First cut the two heads in half, then in half again. The rings are obtained from the fourth part of the onion. Chop very finely. This will all go for frying.
  6. Now take the carrots and grate them on a coarse grater. This is approximately 2-3 medium carrots. If you don't have enough carrots, you can combine them with parsnips. Also grate it on a coarse grater.
  7. Using a spatula, mix our minced meat with finely chopped onion. Beat the egg into it and mix everything thoroughly again.
  8. Place a frying pan, heat it and add a small amount of sunflower oil. We wet our hands to make it easier to sculpt: we form meatballs from the minced meat and fry in a frying pan until golden brown (one minute on each side over medium heat is enough). Transfer the meatballs with rice to a plate. Alternatively, you can deep-fry the meatballs or bake them in the oven. In deep-frying, if you form them into a perfect round shape, they will turn out like this: they will be round and golden on all sides.
  9. Let's start with our tomato sauce.
  10. We will cook it in the same frying pan in which our meatballs and rice were just fried. There is no need to wash it. Place the carrots and simmer over low heat until half cooked, then add the onion.
  11. We remember very well that first the carrots go to frying, and then the onions. If you are using parsnips, as I indicated earlier, then add them along with the carrots at the same time. You can add a little salt.
  12. Let's move on to tomato paste. If you use ketchup or tomato sauce, you should not add sugar, and if you have tomato paste, add a little sugar, then it will not have a pronounced sour taste. Pour everything into the pan and add a couple of tablespoons of boiling water. Cook our tomato sauce over low heat for a couple of minutes.
  13. Place the meatballs and rice in the pan. Distribute them so that they are all covered with tomato sauce. Cook covered over low heat for 15-20 minutes. Carefully turn them over once so that they are thoroughly fried on both sides and soaked in the sauce. At the end, all the water we added will evaporate: and the gravy will be thick and amber in color. Depending on the size of the meatballs, the cooking time in the tomato sauce will depend. I made small ones, so I simmered them for only 15 minutes.

The formed meatballs with rice can be frozen: then they can always be taken out when guests suddenly appear on the doorstep. Place everything in a frying pan with tomato sauce: and voila - everything is ready in 20 minutes. You can also skip rice if you don’t like it: just knead the minced meat well with onion and egg. You can add any other grain to the minced meat - it’s all up to your taste and imagination. The finished dish is great served with mashed potatoes or any other side dish. It can safely be called a weekend dish. Appetizing and tasty, aromatic and fragrant!
