Greek salad is quite simple to prepare, but it turns out beautiful, bright, light and tasty. In Greece this salad is called Horiatiki salad or village salad. The ingredients include tomatoes, cucumbers, shallots, olives and feta - a traditional Greek cheese made from sheep's milk with the addition of goat's. But often other cheeses are used instead of feta, for example fetax or feta cheese. I'll make a Greek salad with feta cheese. Sweet peppers and lettuce are also added to the salad. Vegetables for Greek salad are not chopped, but cut coarsely. It is seasoned with olive oil, salt, black pepper and oregano.
How to make Greek salad with feta cheese
Wash fresh cucumbers, dry them and cut them into thin slices 3-5 millimeters thick.
We also wash small fresh tomatoes, cut them into halves and cut out the stem. Then cut into slices.
Wash sweet bell peppers (yellow or green), remove the seeds and cut into thin strips.
Peel the red salad onion and cut into thin half rings. For this salad, it is better to use sweet varieties of onions to avoid bitterness.
You can use feta or cheese as cheese for a Greek salad. I had cheese. Cut it into small cubes, about 1 cm.
If desired, you can add basil and parsley to the Greek salad. I like basil, it gives the salad a special piquancy. Rinse the greens under cold water and dry. We chop the larger basil leaves finely, but I don’t cut the small basil leaves and parsley, but simply tear them off the stem (whole leaves look beautiful in a salad).
Place lettuce leaves and chopped vegetables on a dish: tomato slices, cucumbers, pepper strips and thin half rings of red onion. Making salad dressing. Mix olive oil (preferably unrefined Extra Virgin) with lemon juice, salt and freshly ground black pepper. If you don't like the slight bitterness of olive oil, you can mix it with refined sunflower oil. Pour the dressing over the salad and place cubes of cheese, olives on top and sprinkle with herbs and dry oregano (optional).
Delicious Greek salad with feta cheese is ready! It turned out light, fresh, and at the same time, satisfying. This salad is usually not mixed before serving, but done immediately before eating.
There is probably not a single restaurant or cafe that does not have Greek salad on its menu. Traditionally, Greek is prepared with feta cheese, but in our area you can often find its replacement with feta cheese. Its taste is milder, and it is more common on our tables, but this does not detract from the charm of the salad. This is exactly the recipe I will share with you today.

Did you know?
At home, the salad is prepared in an unusual way for us: the vegetables are coarsely chopped, a generous piece of feta cheese is added and generously sprinkled with olive oil. In Greece, it is called Horyatiki Salata - translated as “Village” salad. In the summer, at the time of vegetables and herbs, this dish takes first place on our table. Vegetables from the parents' dacha are first used in the salad, and oregano seasoning is always on hand. We eat it almost every day: light and at the same time satisfying, it is perfect for both lunch and dinner. Even in winter, after Olivier, you miss it so much that no, no, you even buy imported vegetables at exorbitant prices to feel the taste of summer.
- You can replace onions with red onions or omit them altogether if you don't like them.
- The salad does not need to be salted if the cheese is salty enough. Focus on the end result and your taste.
- Also, if desired, you can add a pinch of ground black pepper and oregano seasoning - these are traditional spices that go very well with this dish.

- feta cheese 50 g
- olives without pits 8-10 pcs.

Cut the cherry tomatoes into two equal halves. If the tomatoes are small, some can be left whole for a more impressive presentation of the salad.
Combine all the vegetables in a deep bowl. Season the salad with freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil. It is not necessary to add salt, because the cheese itself is quite salty.
Gently mix and place the vegetables on a large flat dish.
Cut the cheese into cubes and place it on top of the salad in a chaotic manner. Add a few pitted olives.
Serve the Greek salad with feta cheese immediately after preparation. Before serving, you can stir gently or give this opportunity to your guests - you can additionally serve a jug of olive oil, half a lemon, salt and pepper.

Celery, herbs and red onion will add a special piquancy to this salad. As a rule, Chinese cabbage is added to Greek salad if it is prepared for vegetarians or during fasting. It is also suitable for those who carefully watch their figure.

When preparing a Greek salad, you should start by preparing Chinese cabbage. It is necessary to separate the leaves from the head of cabbage and wash them. Then they are dried with a paper towel, after which the product must be torn by hand or cut into small squares.
The next stage is preparing the vegetables. Pre-washed tomatoes and cucumbers must be cut into cubes. Dill and other greens are chopped randomly. Peppers, freed from seeds and stalks, should be cut into strips.
When all the components are ready, they need to be put in a salad bowl. You will need to mix the ingredients with two large spoons so as not to overmix the ingredients.
Now you need to separately cut the cheese into small neat squares.
All that remains is to collect all the ingredients and season the appetizer. It is recommended to drizzle the dish with a combination of oil and lemon juice. If necessary, you can add a little salt to the treat. The ingredients must be mixed so that the Chinese cabbage leaves still remain at the bottom. Cheese and olives are laid out on top.

Irregular shape, various stains, cracks, excessive looseness, severe softness, dried surface - these are all signs of poor quality of the product.

Description of preparation:
Salad with cheese and tomatoes is my favorite!
It perfectly combines sweet, sour, spicy and salty. You can use any olives, but if you have a jar of the Kalamata variety, great! And feta cheese and feta are interchangeable. The main thing is that the vegetables are fresh, juicy, saturated with sun and heat. By the way, don’t store tomatoes in the refrigerator. In the cold they “hide” their taste. Of course, the quality of olive oil is important (choose Extra Virgin). I love this salad with coarsely chopped vegetables. But make it to your taste - you can chop it, the taste will not suffer from it! So, how to prepare a salad with cheese and tomatoes? 1. Wash and dry tomatoes, bell peppers (if using) and cucumbers. If the cucumbers are store-bought, remove the skin. Remove stems and seeds from the peppers. Cut out the stems of the tomatoes. Cut the tomatoes into four slices, cucumbers into large slices, and peppers into slices. 2. Peel the onion and cut into large rings. 3. Place chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and peppers in a large plate. Place halves or whole olives and a piece of cheese on top. The cheese can be immediately broken into cubes. 4. Pepper the vegetables and cheese, sprinkle with oregano and drizzle with olive oil. Salad with cheese and tomatoes is ready! I love eating it with freshly baked ciabatta. Any white bread you like will do. Bon appetit! Main ingredient: Vegetables / Tomato / Dairy products / Cheese / Brynza Dish: Salads

How to prepare a salad with cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers
First you need to do the refueling, as it needs to sit for a while. Pour vegetable oil into a suitable bowl and add a mixture of Italian herbs. Squeeze the juice of about a quarter of a lemon, about 2-3 tablespoons. If there is no lemon juice, you should replace it with half a teaspoon of vinegar or several crystals of citric acid diluted with water. No salt is required, the cheese is already salty enough. Instead of a mixture of herbs, you can use any seasoning to your taste.
Cut the purple onion into half rings as thin as possible, disassemble and place in the marinade, mix. Leave to stand while the salad is prepared, 10 minutes will be enough. The onion will lose its bitterness, and the aroma of dry herbs will reveal itself. Instead of purple onions, you can use regular onions. But due to the fact that it has a sharper taste, it is better to first rinse it with boiling water and then immediately rinse it under cold water.
Tear lettuce leaves or other available greens into small pieces. A salad mix would also work.
Chop the tomato and cucumber quite coarsely. It is very convenient and beautiful to use cherry tomatoes, you can use them in different colors.
Crumble the cheese with your hands or chop it into small cubes, about 1x1 cm, olives into two parts, or you can leave them whole.
Cut the remaining quarter of the lemon very finely with the peel.
Add red onion along with marinade. If you like more liquid in your salad, you can add a little from a jar of olives.
Mix carefully. Sprinkle with chopped dill.
Salad with cheese and tomatoes is ready. Serve immediately so it will be juicy and tasty.
