Where to go if your boss quits his job

Mobbing and bossing are an old phenomenon, but the terms are new. A humiliated worker is equal to a bad worker or not?! When they survive, quit or resist. The first answer I want to give to the article’s question is to give up on everything and quit. Why get on your nerves?! But it's not that simple.

Work is an important part of our life. The part that determines our material level. It’s not easy to find a job where the salary is good, the team isn’t rude, and you have a passion for it. If it is found, it is treasured. And they tolerate it if something doesn’t quite suit her.

For some time now, two new words have appeared in the vocabulary of Russian workers: “mobbing” and “bossing”. They designate, however, phenomena familiar to many.

The boss is leaving work, what to do?

Mobbing is when the team doesn’t like you: they laugh at you, whisper behind your back, and don’t notice you. You can approach this in different ways: ignore everything and live, looking at this situation from above. Or you can be offended and fight back. But, most importantly, what you go to work for, your salary, all this has no effect. Bossing is when your boss declares war against you. According to statistics, in 55% of cases, an employee blames his boss for his dismissal.

It’s unpleasant when you are given a dressing down like a schoolboy. But if this is the case, this is a working moment. You endured humiliation, admitted your guilt, and you continue working.

Bossing is something else: they systematically humiliate you in public, punish you financially for the slightest mistake, don’t praise you for obvious success, give you unrealistic deadlines for completing a project, talk about your professional incompetence.

In this case, it is necessary to understand what motivates the boss.

Signs

The following symptoms may indicate that bullying has begun:

  • You are not informed of important information;
  • are not assigned serious tasks;
  • You give in to frequent criticism;
  • successes and achievements go unnoticed;
  • You hear regular ridicule directed at you;
  • you sense an obvious conspiracy; your colleagues are constantly gossiping behind your back.

If you are praised, it means there is something for it

There is a special phenomenon called “imposter syndrome”, which makes people feel that they are unworthy of awards or praise, despite plenty of evidence of their competence. Often we dismiss our own achievements, attributing them to mere luck, chance, or even a terrible mistake. Such doubts can prevent you from taking an interesting position or advancing in your career.

If you sometimes have these feelings, first of all, accept them as completely normal. And then continue to do your job, with positive emotions and self-confidence. In addition, impostor syndrome is more common among people who work in isolation. If your career involves close contact with other team members on a daily basis, you receive constant feedback and therefore become more aware of your own accomplishments.

Termination of an employment contract at the request of the employer

The head of an enterprise may terminate an employment contract in the following cases:

  • liquidation of a company or reduction of its staff;
  • inadequacy of the employee for the position held. This point requires a person to undergo mandatory certification;
  • malicious failure by an employee to fulfill his work duties (if he already has disciplinary sanctions);
  • a single violation, manifested in the form of: absenteeism, absence from place for more than 4 hours without good reason; showing up at work drunk; committing theft; disclosure of trade secrets; violations of labor protection legislation leading to serious consequences; committing an immoral act by a teacher.

The procedure for conducting certification to recognize an employee’s inadequacy for his position must comply with current labor legislation and local regulations of the company. It is possible to dismiss an employee due to staff reduction or due to inadequacy of the position only if there are no vacancies at the enterprise for similar or lower positions.

The manager has the right to dismiss an employee in connection with an immoral act for 1 year from the date of discovery of such an offense.

The law prohibits the dismissal of a person while on sick leave or vacation.

Violation of the Labor Code by an employer may be grounds for a subordinate to go to court and be reinstated at work. However, reinstatement will in no way improve the manager’s attitude towards you. Think about it, is the work worth the lost nerves and, as a result, health? In many cases, it is much wiser to transfer to another department or find another job altogether.

If you decide to leave your job, do it with dignity. Don’t make scandals, tidy up the loose ends and, if possible, correct your mistakes. Your task is to leave only good memories about yourself.

Hello dear readers. You will be interested in this article if you are trying to survive from work. You will learn how dislike of colleagues can manifest itself, for what reasons this happens. You will know how to act in such a situation.

Who is bullied more often than others?

People with natural gloominess are more likely than others to be bullied. There is a category of people who are disliked by colleagues and bosses more often than others. This is determined by their character, behavior and type of temperament.

  1. A person often complains and talks about how difficult his life is.
  2. A complex personality, unsure of his abilities.
  3. A person who wants to stand out from the gray mass.
  4. A suck-up who wants to be the boss's favorite.
  5. Unsociability, natural gloominess.
  6. Unusual behavior.

Learn from your mistakes and don't blame yourself

There is an important difference between blaming yourself and taking responsibility. Guilt is a fear of scorn or ridicule that has its roots in our childhood fears. Responsibility is the reaction of an adult, based on a common understanding of what exactly went wrong and why. Blame is placed on one person, while responsibility is placed on the situation in the overall context. This means that in most cases you are not the only cause of the problem.

The accusation is often not related to the facts at all. Try to immediately clarify the situation clearly and understand what actually happened. You can learn a lot from a little trouble with little consequences. Taking responsibility is about looking into the future and deciding what can be improved later.

Take your time: it may be worth putting the situation aside for a while to look at it a little later from a different angle. Make a list of things you would do differently next time.

Don’t rush to write a statement “on your own”

Having figured out why a boss can force his subordinate out of work, let’s move on to another issue. What to do and how to react to the worsening situation? Don't rush to leave on your own.

Dismissal of an employee under clause 3 of Art. 77 of the Labor Code (at the request of the employee) is the most beneficial option for the employer, but not for the employee.

By writing a statement “on your own,” you will be left without severance pay, and unemployment assistance will be minimal. Once you find out that you are going to be fired, outline two action plans for yourself - tactical and strategic. By implementing a tactical plan, you will find out what is really happening and whether you should be afraid of being fired. In some cases, the situation can be “resolved” in a positive direction. You should begin implementing your strategic plan only when your worst fears are confirmed.

First, create some reason to meet with your boss. For example, you can offer to analyze your work and make some improvements to it. After discussion, speak correctly about the current situation. There is a chance that everything can be fixed.

If the worst is confirmed, do not panic - try to negotiate with your boss about dismissal “by agreement of the parties.” This option is the most beneficial for you, as it provides good compensation.

The law assigns certain rights and obligations to both the employer and his employee. It is very important to comply with all obligations and not abuse rights. In the event of a violation of rights, one should not be afraid to defend one’s own interests, including in court. After all, according to the law, an employer has a limited number of reasons for dismissing an employee. These reasons are stated in Article 81 of the Labor Code.

Causes

A possible reason for bullying is the envy of colleagues of your appearance, success, and professionalism.

  1. Colleagues envy your talent and appearance.
  2. The style of your clothing is inadequately perceived by employees.
  3. You push people away with the way you speak or with your behavior.
  4. You have been chosen as the weak link. Thus, someone is having fun by turning your colleagues against you.
  5. A person's desire to achieve great success when other employees are simply going with the flow can be perceived negatively.
  6. Competition. A person can survive if he poses a threat to someone's position or hope for promotion.

Why is it so important?

If you lack career resilience, you're likely to become overwhelmed by negative thinking, blame yourself for most work problems, and channel your best energy into self-doubt. And as a result, instead of climbing the career ladder, you remain in place, or even fall even lower.

Here are some tips to help you combat this and build a more sustainable career.

When an employer has the right to fire

All possible cases when an employer has the right to dismiss an employee are listed in Article 81 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. These include:

  1. Liquidation of an organization.
  2. Reducing the size of the organization's staff.
  3. Inconsistency with the position held (the decision must be made based on the results of the employee’s certification, which, in turn, must be carried out in accordance with all the rules).
  4. When there is a change in the owner of the organization in relation to senior management - the manager and his deputies, the chief accountant.
  5. Periodic failure by an employee to fulfill his duties or a one-time but gross violation of duties (must be documented with disciplinary sanctions). Such violations include:
  • alcohol or drug intoxication during working hours (documented, that is, a medical examination must be performed);
  • absenteeism (absence from work for more than four hours per working day is already considered absenteeism);
  • disclosure of trade secrets (as well as state or personal data of other employees);
  • theft at the workplace, embezzlement or destruction of property (there must be a court decision on this fact);
  • violation of labor protection requirements (there must be a decision of the commission, documented).
  1. Guilty actions of financially responsible persons in relation to monetary, fixed assets of the organization, etc.
  2. Failure to provide information or provision of false information about income, property , etc. (for civil servants).
  3. Immoral offenses (for teachers, educators).
  4. Making decisions that resulted in damage, a single gross violation of one’s duties (for senior management).
  5. Providing false documents during employment.

How to behave

If you are forced out of work, what to do becomes the main question. I suggest you listen to the valuable advice of experts and draw your own conclusions.

  1. Be patient.
  2. Stop all bullying. If you remain silent right away, endless bullying may begin.
  3. Stop trusting your secrets to the people around you.
  4. If you suspect a specific person of initiating bullying, you can check him by providing some information.
  5. Try to understand the situation. Analyze your actions. If necessary, talk to employees and try to find out the reason for this attitude towards yourself. Perhaps you really offended someone or acted badly.
  6. It is important to show that you are not afraid of anyone. Stay confident in your abilities.
  7. Just in case, think of an escape plan and start looking for another job.
  8. If the situation is very difficult, try to save a certain amount of money so that if you are fired you will not be left broke.
  9. Identify the instigator. Find leverage to put pressure on the offender. Recognize people in the team who may turn out to be brothers in misfortune or who consider such an attitude towards your person unfair. Get their support.
  10. Don't brag - it may make your colleagues jealous.
  11. Try to enlist the support of the unspoken leader in the team, but do not use flattery.
  12. Keep your mouth shut, don't discuss anyone, don't gossip behind your colleagues' backs.
  13. Do not show negative emotions if you are reprimanded.
  14. If you see that you yourself are to blame for this attitude of your colleagues, try to change.
  15. If you know that you are not yet experienced and found it difficult to get this job, then it is better to be patient and try to stay in this company for at least a year.
  16. If the salary level holds you back, try to find a similar place with the same income. If there are options with a slightly lower salary, it may be worth accepting such an offer rather than continue to waste your energy and spoil your nerves.
  17. If you work in a large company, try transferring to another department.

Surviving at work - how to behave

If they are forcing you out of your job, then quit. This is my main advice from the height of my years, work experience in Soviet times and survival at work during the period of undisguised commodity-money relations of the current time. Now I’m retired and can share my observations of how and what the struggle for space under office lamps and at work tables ends.

I would like to emphasize that I convey my personal experience on the blog pages and do not pretend to be an expert on labor relations (for conclusions in social network groups, see the end of the article). It’s just that I’ve been living in the world for a long time and I can already draw conclusions from life’s observations. My friends, relatives and friends periodically found themselves in exactly this situation:

  • You work well, sometimes even as a great specialist.
  • The salary and location are satisfactory, I didn’t plan to change anything.
  • But gradually it becomes clear that they want to “take you away”.

In the current conditions, you need to make a decision: fight for your job or look for a new one. I observed both options in action and with consequences. In short:

Option 1. You fight, stand up for your rights and do your job well. Consequences:

  • Exhausted by constant nervous tension from the fight.
  • They will still take you away from work (after all, your boss or co-workers have more opportunities to screw you over).
  • Dismissal usually happens “with a bang.”

Option 2. You accept changes in your work environment relatively calmly and, preserving your life time and feminine strength, begin to look for a backup option for a new workplace.

Consequences:

  • Maintained mental strength and health.
  • The new job will probably be more productive for your life goals (you are not starting from scratch).
  • Life will still punish the idiots from their last job.

Regarding the last point, I am 100% sure. Never before has a judge of the highest category called Life left the boomerang of Fate inactive. Therefore, everything, good and bad (I emphasize!), is necessarily returned to those who launched this very boomerang.

And he hits you at the most inopportune moment (I’m talking about personal things))) By the way, regarding a personal point of view on a woman’s career, you can read in the article “A businesswoman or just a woman” and at the very end of the text.

Now, regarding the conclusions from the heated discussions on social networks about the situation: what to do if you are fired from your job. So there, supporters of the fierce struggle for justice and those who believed that it was not worth ruining their lives met head-on. True, they defended their views calmly and peacefully.

As a result, everyone remained to their own. Everyone has their own point of view and their own clear conclusion. I wish the same for you. Decide for yourself what is preferable to choose in this situation. You have already read above the pros and cons of each option. But the fact that in the end the situation “if they survive, they will survive” is repeated, the ardent adherents of the fight for the workplace somehow lose sight of. I will say from myself:

Any job is temporary. Except the one where you work for yourself. That is, you are running your own business. In this case, it turns into the main engine of life and a source of income.

But a woman has a responsibility to be a mother. And that's the first thing. Therefore, I advise you to maintain a “work + family” balance without fail, no matter how difficult it may be. Of course, if you want to have a heart-to-heart talk with adult children in their old age. After all, if your work comes first, then they simply won’t care about you. How can you not care about children now?

My recipe is simple. I never wanted to be a boss. I really wanted a family and children. And from this vantage point I looked at all the changes in my life on a professional level. Therefore, I got around to starting my own business only in retirement))) Moreover, all matters are postponed when an adult son or daughter asks for advice or simply needs help on the Internet (it turned out that in Runet matters I am the most advanced in the family)))

This is how I live: increasing my income on the Internet, sharing advice from personal experience with young women, and dropping everything when they call on Skype: “Mom?”

Good luck, dear blog readers. And at work too)))

What is career resilience?

Career fortitude is a strategy for building layers of protection that ensure only temporary damage to your job and personal reputation should something go wrong. Then you will again find the strength and energy to recover from failure. This applies to any problems in general related to work and career: failure to present an important project, an overly domineering and demanding boss, organizational difficulties, constant refusals and criticism of management, and so on.

If the boss leaves work

This situation can also happen. For what reasons could this happen?

  1. Disrespectful attitude.
  2. Emphasizing that the employee has a better experience than him.
  3. The employee openly declares that he is applying for the position of the boss.
  4. An employee criticizes his boss and starts gossip about him.
  5. Inappropriate behavior.
  6. The employee fails to cope with his duties.
  7. Causes disgust on a physiological level.
  8. An employee reminds his boss of a person who previously betrayed him or got on his nerves.
  9. Refusal to be close to the boss can also provoke an attempt to get rid of the employee.

What to do in such a situation?

  1. Make sure you are right and able to stand up to your boss. Be prepared to encounter misunderstandings from employees.
  2. Maintain subordination.
  3. Identify the instigator. Most likely, the boss's attitude changed under someone else's influence. When you identify this person, try to find dirt on him or bring him to light.
  4. Think about whether your boss is really biased towards you or, perhaps, you really can’t cope with your job responsibilities.
  5. Believe in your strength, stop worrying about every issue, do not be afraid of losing your job because of your misconduct.
  6. According to the law, no one has the right to kick you out if you cope with your responsibilities as a specialist. Another thing is that intrigues can be arranged behind your back; colleagues, under the instructions of your boss, can set you up and blame you for all your mistakes. And then there will be a legitimate reason to get rid of an employee who is performing poorly.
  7. Even if you see that the issue of your dismissal has already been resolved, still maintain normal relationships in the team and with your boss, treat him with respect.

Now you know how to behave if you are struggling at work. Analyze the situation and make sure that you are not to blame in this regard. Try to cope with bullying, start resisting the attacks of your colleagues. If you see that there is no other way out, quit, just first find a new job.

How to keep a job if you survive

Then they told me that there would be a certification. I agreed to the certification because I am confident in my qualifications. One employee immediately wrote an application, and I decided to compete for a position.

Unfortunately, not everything is always great at work, and you yourself may become a victim of offenders, you may not please your boss in some way, and he gives orders to ensure that you survive, because there is no reason to fire you. In order to maintain your place in the company, you need to follow some tips.

However, it also happens that the work is interesting, the company is good, the conditions are satisfactory, but it is impossible to be there - one or more colleagues, or even the entire team, are actively ruining life and fraying nerves, and shouting, aggression and ridicule have become an everyday reality. This advice is suitable, again, if the person being scammed occupies a higher position. If you have any questions, contact the most important boss, then the question will arise about the competence of the object.

Not particularly supportive!!!! The boss started to be incredulous!!!! Although there was no reason for this!!!! He never stole anything, on the contrary, he constantly offered something, etc.!!!! I have a feeling that he is afraid of me as a manager and thereby simply spreads rot on me so that I become obedient like his relatives!!!! I always have my own opinion!

Now you know how to behave if you are struggling at work. Analyze the situation and make sure that you are not to blame in this regard. Try to cope with bullying, start resisting the attacks of your colleagues. If you see that there is no other way out, quit, just first find a new job.

Why bother a colleague?

The reasons for being unpleasant towards a certain person are individual, and, of course, this is not a very good thing, but it very often happens that the boss hires a relative or friend who does not understand the company’s affairs at all, as a result of which the entire team suffers. Naturally, no one needs such an employee, but they agreed on him, so the management will blame everyone around him except him. In this case, you need to make sure that this person himself does not want to work, or set him up so that it is no longer possible to get out. In order to catch a careless employee, there are 10 rules, or, more correctly, recommendations.

What methods will be used

They will begin to record the time of arrival and departure, lunch break, and smoke breaks. The deadlines for project delivery and the quality of your work will be subject to special control. But you never know there are still moments at work that you can cling to.

After some time, they will call you to the staff, lay out what they have collected in front of you and offer you to resign of your own free will (clause 3 of Article 77 of the Labor Code). Then they will threaten you with certification, which you will not pass.

What to do. There are two options for you:

Exit one: quit

  1. For the employer, the option of dismissing an employee at his own request is ideal, but for the employee it is not beneficial.
  2. Carrying out certification requires preparation, it is carried out in accordance with the standards. In a word, management will not do this if they are not sure of a positive result. There is nothing to be afraid of here. The certification can be challenged.
  3. You will not be able to achieve dismissal due to reduction (ideal for an employee). Too much has to come together for this to happen.
  4. It is quite possible to achieve dismissal by agreement of the parties. In the current situation, there is also an opportunity to bargain: you can bargain for money and keep your health insurance.

Exit two: resist

Before making such a decision, think carefully about whether your workplace is worth the health expense to maintain it. Your nervous system will take a beating. It’s worth starting a fight if you are confident in yourself as a professional. Victory is possible.

Reputable company. Good salary. Olga, the boss’s secretary, was happy with everything. The new boss arrived with his secretary. The personnel did not offer anything in return, but began to survive. The HR officer called a sweet and intelligent woman into his office every day and, turning into a monster, frightened me.

Olga took sick leave to care for her child, served time, and during this time studied the Labor Code. After leaving, I entered the personnel officer’s office in a fighting mood: with a voice recorder in my hands and a prepared application to the State Labor Inspectorate. They spoke to her differently. Several vacancies were immediately offered.

Don’t swear off “pockets and jail”, and even more so from being fired from your job. After reading the article to the end, you will find out why they may want to quit your job and what to do for an employee over whom “clouds have gathered.”

Conspiracy to increase your salary or receive a bonus

There are situations when a person likes his job, but management is not going to increase wages. In this case, read the magic words for a salary increase:

“Thank you, Lord: I fish, and You send me the catch. Let my catch grow and bloom with wealth, so that I don’t know and don’t count my money. The Lord will not forget me, good things will come to me for the glory of the Lord. Amen. Amen. Amen."

Words are read onto a coin of any denomination, and then it is hidden in the workplace area. And if the salary is not increased, then you can count on a bonus.

It is not necessary to contact a professional; rituals are performed at home.

How to keep a new job?

You were chosen from a variety of candidates, and from now on you are a new employee of a successful company.

Just yesterday, a job application was written, an employment contract was signed, and a work book was drawn up. It would seem that the most difficult thing is left behind.

But, alas, you have an equally difficult time ahead: the so-called adaptation period. Yes, no matter how experienced you are, you cannot avoid this stage, so the best option would be to approach it fully armed. This period lasts on average 2 months, so in many organizations the probationary period lasts the same amount.

So, there are main general rules on how to properly survive the adaptation period

in a new job, successfully stay here and prepare for further career growth.

1.

Be natural. There is no need to play the role of an unapproachable businesswoman or some kind of funny guy if the corresponding traits are not characteristic of you. Be yourself.

2.

Don't pretend to be a know-it-all. As one wise professor liked to repeat in my student years: “Only the Lord God knows for a “5”, I know for a “4”, well, your grade is “3”,” and the famous philosopher repeated: “I know that nothing I don’t know.” So let’s not overestimate ourselves.

Even if you are the winner of a dozen competitions and olympiads, have a bunch of titles, you don’t need to demonstrate it again. If you are truly a master of your craft, don’t worry, you will definitely be appreciated without unnecessary self-promotion.

3.

Ask and listen carefully to the answers. Whether you are 22 or 45, you are new to this company and there is nothing you can do about it. It is necessary to study. Don’t let things take their course, ask questions to avoid irreparable mistakes. Don’t rely on your memory: better write down what they tell you.

4.

Remain friendly and polite. Even if you don’t like someone in the team, don’t show it. It’s easy to ruin a relationship, but how to continue to work is the question.

5.

Don't argue over trifles! Moreover, do not say phrases like: “We did it this way at our last job...”, “I know for sure that it will be better this way”... You are at a new job, so you are obliged to obey the existing rules and not give dubious advice.

6.

In conversations with colleagues, remember only good things about your past jobs and management; if you have nothing good to say, remain silent. It is clear that the temptation is very great to tell new colleagues about the former tyrant boss and the greedy chief accountant, but do not rush to do this, at least during the adaptation period. After all, you are still being evaluated. And who knows if the “greedy chief accountant” and your current chief accountant are not friends?

7.

Don't discuss your colleagues! Don't gossip yourself or support others. I won’t comment, in my opinion, everything is clear.

8.

Don't ask for too much at first. For example, be sure to have a Sony monitor and a soft leather chair on your desk. Show yourself as a professional, then demand something in return.

9.

Don't complain about a lot of work and a small salary. Remember, the work won’t decrease and the money won’t increase, but you will definitely earn a reputation as a whiner.

10.

And, most importantly, believe in yourself, everyone was once a beginner, don’t get upset unnecessarily, and everything will work out for you!

Oh, all-holy Nicholas, exceedingly saintly servant of the Lord, our warm intercessor, and everywhere in sorrow a quick helper! Help me, a sinner and sad person in this present life, beg the Lord God to grant me forgiveness of all my sins, which I have sinned greatly from my youth, in all my life, in deed, word, thought and all my feelings; and at the end of my soul, help me to the accursed, beg the Lord God, the Creator of all creation, to deliver me from airy ordeals and eternal torment: may I always glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and your merciful intercession, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

In what cases does this happen?

In most situations, bosses start bullying if they want to put another person in your place - a protégé. This practice is widespread throughout the world and surprisingly resilient.

  • There is a special term - bossing : the director begins to take advantage of his official position and reprimands his subordinate for any mistake, finding fault with him on every occasion.
  • Psychological pressure that comes from the entire team is called mobbing . Any newcomer taking his first steps in a new position can encounter it.

This happens for various reasons: he couldn’t prove himself as an independent person, his colleagues didn’t like him at first sight... He’s too smart, too proactive . In a word, all negative human emotions are intertwined here - from envy to unreasonable hatred.

photo1

Living with such a burden is very difficult, and working even more so. No one is immune from an unpleasant test - neither the recognized stars of the team, nor the black sheep.

That is why you need to prepare yourself for confrontation in advance. So, let's look at the most common bullying scenarios.

“Eat” at work. What to do?

We spend the bulk of our lives, in addition to sleeping, at work, so it is desirable that work brings not only material, but also mental satisfaction. And this is only possible if there is a calm atmosphere in the team, when colleagues and superiors treat each other kindly.

You are lucky if you managed to get into just such a team. And if not? If they “eat you up”, pushing you with the most unpromising projects, loading you with the most routine work and even sometimes insulting you? This is especially often done by the bosses themselves, wanting to take their place with their friend or relative. Colleagues often encourage each other to move up.

So, you were starved to death. What to do - quit your job or try to hold on to it?

There are two options: 1. Really quit – health is more valuable. If you feel that you are becoming unbearable, and your work (bosses, colleagues) is so boring that you can no longer look at a mountain of papers without nausea and go here as if it were hard labor, is it worth torturing yourself further?

2. Reclaim your place. If you love what you do, especially when you've been working here for several years and know every detail, try to compete for yourself:

• If you are truly a professional in your field, no one will undermine you. To keep up with the times, master all the innovations, carefully study the latest instructions, etc.;

• Do not provoke aggression from your superiors and do not stoop to their level if they are deliberately rude to you. Even if your boss is a real tyrant, he is the boss for now, not you;

• If you feel that you are being “pressured,” do not be afraid to discuss this problem with your superiors, especially if they consider themselves to be high-flying birds, sometimes forced to condescend to their subordinates. Who knows, maybe after this your boss will start treating you better;

• Do not gossip with colleagues about your superiors or other employees, and do not allow such gossip to be spread about yourself;

• Hide important office documents in a locked desk or safe. I know of several cases where one colleague stole important documentation from another’s desk, thereby exposing him to attack. Be extremely careful.

Be that as it may, do not forget about your dignity and try to maintain iron restraint. And remember - you are absolutely free (slavery has long been abolished), so you can get up and leave at any time. I repeat – health and peace of mind are much more important. Or are you waiting for a monument to be erected to you?

I'll give you my example. I worked at Sberbank for about 10 years. In the last year of work, relations with management deteriorated greatly. I'm tired of being pushed around like an errand girl, and not being promoted further (10 years as a simple operator!). The boss, that “tyrant” who is accustomed to stomping her foot and can bark at any employee simply because of a bad mood, naturally, did not like all this, and she began to set me up. And also, as I found out later, she wanted to put another employee in my place, simply a sycophant. And I went to another bank, where people are considered people, and not consumables. The main thing is not to be afraid to change your life.

Good luck to you!

Bend your line

If your boss persists even though you have already given a negative answer, hoping that you might change your mind, you should not give up your position. You need to be firm in substance, but maintain a delicate form of communication.

You should sympathize with the boss, but invite him to do without you today, since you, no matter how much you want, cannot help him at the moment. Such a polite but frank approach will make it clear that further arguments are pointless. If your boss continues to persist, which would be unprofessional on his part, you may need to respond more forcefully.

Why the boss quits his job: the main reasons

As a rule, a boss gets rid of his subordinate’s job when he really doesn’t like the latter and (or) is not suitable for him. But at the same time, there are no legal grounds for dismissal. So you have to act on the sly, forcing the employee to leave “on his own.”

They may try to “leave” you in a company with an inflexible structure, with an authoritarian management style, where the employee has very little chance of changing anything through agreements. In a company where a democratic management style is adopted and there is no intrigue, such cases occur extremely rarely.

Why does the boss quit his job? Because the employee simply annoys him - as a person, as a professional, etc.

There may also be a mismatch of values: the boss wants his subordinates to literally “live” at work. The employee, naturally, does not understand this and prefers to work exclusively in accordance with the internal rules. Or even worse - the employee asked for a bonus for overtime.

A boss cannot force a subordinate to work overtime. On the other hand, he was also tired of “taking the rap” for everything. The only possible way out of this situation, according to the boss, is to “leave” the disobedient employee and hire a more compliant person in his place.

Of course, everything can be much more trivial - the boss does not like the employee’s appearance, for example, hairstyle or clothes. Or perhaps the subordinate constantly objects to his boss, as if thereby showing that he could cope with the manager’s work much better.

Even Peter the Great said: “A subordinate in front of his superiors should look dashing and stupid, so as not to embarrass his superiors with his understanding.” Despite all the playfulness of this statement, there is some truth in it. Nobody likes “upstarts” or “sticking out” people. If you have your own opinion, it is much smarter to express it to your boss in the spirit of an improvement proposal or even keep it to yourself. Constant disputes with the boss are disrespect for his position, non-compliance with the principle of subordination, on which any organized structure rests.

What can the boss do when implementing his plan to “leave” you from work? For example, a manager may “forget” to give you an assignment, and then publicly reprimand you for failure to complete the assignment. Maybe without debriefing. Some bosses don’t pay any attention to those they don’t like, hoping that the person will simply get bored at work and quit on his own.
