Woman.ru: Almost six months have passed since the birth of your second son, all this time we have rarely seen you on stage and in shows on TV. What is the reason for this pause in work?
Albina Dzhanabaeva: It seems to me that this is a completely natural pause. I am sure that with the birth of a baby, all a woman’s actions and thoughts should be aimed at caring for the child. This is the main purpose of motherhood. Now I spend as much time as possible with my youngest son. And there is no sacrifice in relation to one's career.
This is my conscious, and most importantly, desired choice - to take a break and devote myself only to him for the first months of my child’s life. For me, this is a very good time to think it over, weigh it, and reflect on what is important.
Woman.ru: Last year we watched your rise as the host of the “Big Dance” project and a solo singer, and suddenly the news was that you were pregnant. How did you feel? Shock, confusion or joy?
A.D.: It was absolute happiness! And this feeling does not leave me to this day. I worked actively almost until the birth. In the seventh month I went on tour. Now I have consciously slowed down. Life became calm and measured, well, as much as possible with a small child. That's how it should be. This is the purpose of a mother.
Woman.ru: In general, do you want to continue working actively or are you more comfortable with caring for your family now?
A.D.: Now I have disappeared into the family. I get great pleasure from what I do at home. And this is due to the fact that I have a tiny baby on me. But I understand perfectly well that I can’t do it without work, and I don’t want to. After some time, my youngest son will begin to “let me go” from home more often, and I will continue to work. I really want to go on stage again.
Woman.ru: Do you think it’s possible to be a successful artist, a good wife and mother at the same time?
A.D.: I believe that nothing is impossible for a woman. The main thing is to have an internal charge, the correct distribution of energy within yourself. And this requires desire and inspiration. Then you can move mountains.
Woman.ru: Are the feelings when you give birth to your second son comparable to your first birth?
A.D.: It would seem that the process is the same, but I experienced completely different feelings!
With the advent of Luke, I became an absolute woman. To feel this, I just needed a second child.
Woman.ru: Is it true that mothers don’t worry as much about their second child as they did about their first?
A.D.: By and large, yes. There is already a clear procedure. I have confidence that I can handle it. Although there is a 10-year difference between my boys, there was some anxiety: would I remember how to properly handle the baby. But as soon as I took Luka in my arms, the doubts immediately disappeared.
Woman.ru: Why did you and your husband choose such an unusual name for your baby - Luka?
A.D.: Translated from Greek and Latin, Luke means “light” or “bright.” When I saw him, I immediately realized that he was a very bright child. In addition, this name is very unusual and strong. And there are also a lot of funny derivatives from it, which is what we call it.
Woman.ru: How did the eldest son Kostya react to the appearance of his brother?
A.D.: He was really looking forward to this moment and was worried. Sometimes he was even bothered by completely adult problems: “Mom, isn’t it dangerous for you to fly an airplane in this position?”
It seems to me that any child needs to be prepared for the arrival of a new family member. It is the bright message that the parents give that becomes the foundation for future good relations between the brothers.
Already now I see that Kostya is taking care of Luka. When the little one is sleeping, he practically tiptoes around the house. It's very touching.
Woman.ru: How are Kostya doing?
A.D.: Everything is great with him. Kostya studies well. Now we are entering a period of adolescence when sometimes he wants to be lazy and not study. He, like any teenager at that age, now needs a “locomotive” to push him in the right direction. This is what we are doing now as a family. Kostya’s main hobbies are natural sciences. He has a clear interest in physics and chemistry; at home he constantly conducts some kind of experiments. But his son’s main passion remains Lego. Now it has moved to a new level of complexity. And in my opinion, to understand this, you need an engineering education (laughs).
Woman.ru: Who is he most like and how?
A.D.: Kostya is already at that age that he looks like himself. I notice that if my son is passionate about something, he shows incredible perseverance and concentration. He can spend hours assembling a complex figure from thousands of small parts.
In this he is definitely not like his parents.
Woman.ru: Have you always dreamed of such a family?
A.D.: Like any normal person, I wanted a friendly and loving family. Respect, trust, and mutual understanding have always played a very important role for me. I developed the concept of an ideal family in the process of my development in life. Values appear that I never even thought about as a child.
Woman.ru: Do you think love and a happy family without difficulties and obstacles from above are not given to us?
A.D.: I won’t undertake to answer this question unambiguously. It's different in every family. There are many examples of very happy relationships without difficulties. And there are stories of real overcoming. It seems to me that the most important thing is love, then everything will be fixable. If you have something to fight for, you can overcome any difficulties.
Many people say that there is no love without difficulties. In my opinion, this is still a misconception. Everyone has their own path, and everyone is different.
Woman.ru: What are your immediate creative plans?
A.D.: I’m playing again in the play “Bad Habits,” and at the same time I started working on a new television magazine for women, code-named “Albina.” I also take part in some television and glossy filming, I’m working on new musical material, and after the new year I plan to release a video.
There is time for creativity. There is not much of it, but it is there. I think that soon I will finally return to my usual active schedule.
Woman.ru: How, being a mother, do you manage not to forget about yourself?
A.D.: Of course, immediately after the birth of a child there is often no time for yourself. Although this external imperfection and fatigue has its own charm. And she's very natural. But, believe me, the desire to go to the salon comes after some time. You need to hear this call in time and remember that you are a woman. Good external shape returns quickly. The main thing is not to focus on this from the very first day after giving birth. There is a time for everything, and it will definitely come.

The creative couple has two sons: 15-year-old Kostya and five-year-old Luka. On tour, Valery misses his family very much, and Albina sends him photos and videos with the children. “People should make time for just two people. This is great for retuning, bringing us closer together, and we try to find this time even in the daily bustle,” says Dzhanabaeva.
From time to time, spouses surprise each other. So, Valery arranged a romantic surprise for his wife.
“I remember one night I woke up to drink water and saw that there were roses, rose petals everywhere on the bedside table, on the floor, on the stairs. Valery tried his best and bombarded the whole house... It was cool and unexpected, so I learned that he is capable of crazy things. For my part, I can make such a surprise: on the night before Valery’s birthday, I will inflate 500 balloons for him,” Albina shared.

Dzhanabaeva also loves to please her husband with culinary masterpieces. The singer claims that she loves to cook, and Meladze admits that she cannot resist her wife’s dishes. “Albina can sometimes spontaneously bake or cook something. Even if I come home not hungry, but I see something frying in a frying pan, I will definitely sit down and eat. Then, of course, I kick myself because I need to be in shape. But I have to try it,” admitted Meladze.
Dzhanabaeva is quite calm about the fact that Valery is the object of adoration of millions of fans. “I was once asked whether Valeria is jealous when he is on stage. And I began to remember how I was sitting in the hall during the concert, surrounded by a huge number of women. Valery sings, and such a huge flow of energy emanates from him that the collective unconscious turns on. And jealousy is too inappropriate a description in this case. On stage it belongs to the audience, and then we decided everything for ourselves,” said Dzhanabaeva.
Many people believe that stars live somehow differently, their lifestyle is not the same as that of ordinary people. Albina claims that their family is no different from millions of others.
“Behind closed doors, we have a normal human life, when we need to wake up early, prepare breakfast, send our eldest son to school, and our youngest to kindergarten. In this life, we need to remain sensitive people who prioritize true family values, and treat with respect those who depend on us,” Dzhanabaeva shared in an interview with Antenna-Telesem.
