Why is it a sign to meet a pregnant woman?

Nutrition

Food is a secret.
The child will be afraid of everything. The desire to eat something secretly can arise when there is a lack of food, or when eating something that is not allowed, such as chocolates or oranges, which are allergens. And this is not beneficial for the unborn child. Yes, and eating on the go is also not very healthy, food is less digestible, but I don’t think that this is due to the child’s timidity. Red berries. If the expectant mother eats red berries, the baby will be born ruddy. Rational remark. Children are often allergic to red berries and fruits if their mother eats too many of them during pregnancy, hence the red cheeks.

Refusal of a pregnant woman to eat. You cannot deny food to a pregnant woman; childbirth will be difficult. Pregnant women often have perverted taste; they want what they cannot. The lack of nutrients affects you, you can eat a little of everything, the main thing is to know when to stop. The body knows better what it needs at the moment. This does not affect the course of labor in any way.

Signs portending pregnancy

Very often, a girl who is anxiously awaiting good news has certain dreams. An early pregnancy is foreshadowed, for example, by the following dreams:

  • fish, the process of catching it, as well as simply observing it in clear water;
  • eggs, grains, seeds, fruits and berries - especially the process of selecting and purchasing them;
  • mushrooms and the process of collecting them;
  • jewelry, and in the form of a randomly found treasure;
  • kittens, puppies, rabbits and how the girl takes care of them;
  • milk, the babies themselves, children's clothes and things.

In addition to dreams, there are these signs before pregnancy:

  • a puppy or kitten that came home, which you picked up, accepted into your family and began to care for;
  • the appearance of offspring in domestic animals;
  • abundant flowering and too active growth in indoor plants;
  • animals become especially affectionate towards the expectant mother, approach her more often, show their affection in every possible way, cats try to lie down next to their owner;
  • the girl becomes more feminine, stops wearing bright makeup, changes her wardrobe - jeans and shirts give way to dresses and feminine blouses.

The mystery of pregnancy

Ban on talking about your pregnancy. Until the belly becomes visible, you cannot inform others, with the exception of the child's father. This is a very ancient sign, inherent in many nations. In this way the child was saved from evil spirits. And from people who could jinx it. Modern psychologists recommend following this advice, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.

The name of the unborn child cannot be revealed. You can come up with a name for your future child, but it should be kept secret. This sign is still popular today. And the same evil spirits that can harm the baby are to blame.

Baby's dowry. Before the baby is born, you should not buy baby clothes. In ancient times it was believed that if the clothes were already prepared, the spirits would occupy them. In Rus' there have always been large families, things were passed down from generation to generation, clothes were prepared by mothers, there was no need to go shopping, and there were no shops.

Now, of course, it’s better to stock up on everything you need in advance, so that everything is at hand at the crucial moment. It is believed that the expectant mother should not prepare the dowry herself. She must entrust this to her family. Of course, you shouldn’t carry heavy things, but tireless shopping and looking at catalogs with children’s things will bring pleasure to the expectant mother.

Signs to get pregnant

Girls who want to get pregnant as soon as possible should pay attention to the following signs, and maybe even adopt some of them. Most of them are associated with the idea that pregnancy can be “contagious.” Well, if you have a pregnant friend or good acquaintance, then she will not be surprised if you sit in the place where she was sitting, finish her sweets or ask her to try on some clothes. After all, all this can affect you in such a way that you, too, will soon become pregnant. In addition, you can take the following actions:

  • stroke the belly of a pregnant woman;
  • ask her to blow or sneeze on you;
  • beg for a toy baby doll as a gift;
  • push an empty baby stroller.

There are also such folk signs to get pregnant:

  • while waiting for this happy news, you can take up embroidery - it is better if these are angels, children or some objects related to children, as well as icons;
  • you need to ask your husband to give you any jewelry with pearls - such a gift will perfectly contribute to a quick conception;
  • draw two beautiful bright fish on a blank sheet of paper and put this drawing under the mattress or pillow;
  • make your deepest wish while standing under a bridge as a train passes over it;
  • on the eve of the New Year celebration, you can decorate the Christmas tree with toys that have images of babies on them;
  • It’s interesting that many people associate ficus and pregnancy. The sign is that you need to place a ficus donated by one of your friends (it is important that they are not relatives) on the bedroom window, take care of it, regularly water it, fertilize it, and even talk to it affectionately;
  • Willow is also a plant that helps you get pregnant. The twig blessed on Palm Sunday should be kept at the head of the marital bed;
  • Often the long-awaited pregnancy is brought closer by buying baby things - toys, clothes, booties. The main thing is not to get carried away; one or two things will be enough;
  • Another sign to get pregnant is a red thread. This is not even really a sign, but a kind of conspiracy. You need to take a red thread of medium thickness and tie it on your wrist, saying at the same time that when this knot is untied, I will have children. Then you need to patiently wait for that very moment when the thread itself falls from your hand and then, according to popular belief, pregnancy has already occurred;
  • Although all kinds of signs and superstitions are not welcomed in Orthodoxy, they say that it is the prayers on the Intercession for pregnancy that lead to the fastest results. The most important thing is that the prayer is sincere, and the girl wants to get pregnant from the bottom of her heart. Not for any mercantile reasons, but because he wants to give all his love and care to the unborn child. In addition, this time is considered the best for weddings - the Mother of God gives marital happiness to the newlyweds and helps young spouses maintain good relationships for many years. But it is peace and quiet in the home and family that, like nothing else, contributes to the speedy birth of numerous and healthy offspring. This holiday, beloved by the people, is celebrated on the fourteenth of October.

What is possible and what is not?

Sleeping on your back. There is justification for the belief that a pregnant woman should not sleep on her back. A pregnant woman should not sleep on her back: the baby may suffocate. In this position, inferior vena cava compression syndrome may occur, which can occur in pregnant women, especially when the woman lies on her back.

The uterus presses on the inferior vena cava, which, when lying on your back, is located just under the uterus. Through this vein, venous blood rises from the lower extremities and lower body to the heart, due to which the venous return of blood to the heart decreases and blood pressure decreases (if it drops sharply, fainting occurs).

Inferior vena cava compression syndrome can manifest as anxiety, a feeling of shortness of breath, increased breathing, dizziness, darkening of the eyes, paleness, sweating, and tachycardia (increased heart rate). Most often, the syndrome occurs with polyhydramnios, pregnancy with a large fetus, with hypotension (low blood pressure), with multiple pregnancies, and also in pregnant women of short stature.

No special treatment is usually required. If compression syndrome of the inferior vena cava occurs, it is enough to immediately turn on your side. You need to know that with pronounced long-term compression of the inferior vena cava, uterine and renal blood flow decreases, the baby is less well supplied with blood and nutrients.

Face. The expectant mother should not touch her face, otherwise the baby will have birthmarks. Is it possible to go without touching your face for nine months? All children would have birthmarks.

Foot to foot. Expectant mothers should not sit cross-legged, the baby will have crooked legs, there is a rational grain, blood circulation in the legs is impaired, which threatens varicose veins.

You can't cut your hair. This sign is especially suitable for those who have long dreamed of growing their hair, but if the hair gets in the way and falls in the eyes, you should treat yourself to a stylish short haircut.

You cannot go to crowded places. The sign is true: where there are crowds of people, there is stuffiness, viral infections, it is better to avoid such places if possible.

Cat. A pregnant woman should not handle a cat. The sign is completely justified. The causative agent of toxoplasmosis, a very dangerous disease for pregnant women, is truly a cat disease. The expectant mother may become ill and not know it, but the pathogen enters the baby’s bloodstream through the placenta. Congenital toxoplasmosis is a serious disease that affects the nervous system of a baby. The only salvation here is to get your beloved cat tested for toxoplasmosis.

Deformities. The expectant mother is not recommended to look at sick and ugly people; the child may be born ugly. You can’t look at the fire or the dead, this will also affect the baby’s appearance. You need to look at beautiful people and landscapes so that the child is healthy and beautiful. This belief has no basis; all signs of appearance are formed in the first trimester of pregnancy and are determined genetically.

But it is possible to develop positive character traits, charm, and inner attractiveness from the first days of pregnancy. Good music and art contribute to this. But you shouldn’t radically change your habits; you don’t need to listen to classical music, for example, if it doesn’t bring you pleasure; you can just as easily listen to pop music if the expectant mother enjoys it. Everything that is unpleasant for a pregnant woman is not good for the child.

Taking photographs. A pregnant woman should not be drawn or photographed, otherwise the child’s development will stop, like the image in a portrait. This is wrong, the expectant mother needs to be drawn and photographed, because this is a unique time for her, it lasts only nine months, as they say, seize the moment.

Why is it a sign to meet a pregnant woman?

Sewing. It is not recommended for a pregnant woman to sew; the child’s path into this life will be sewn up, and childbirth will be difficult. There is no reasonable basis for this belief, but you still need to sew in a comfortable position and then this activity will be beneficial. You should not sit in one position so as not to block the blood flow. You need to move more to increase the supply of nutrients to the fetus.

Signs relating directly to the expectant mother are one type. But there are still a lot of signs about what a woman in this position can and cannot do:

  • if the expectant mother does handicrafts, including sewing, cutting or patching something, the baby will have a lot of moles on the baby’s body at birth, interpreters explain this phenomenon by saying that the woman gets pricked, which makes her scared, and this fear is allegedly passed on to the baby;
  • a pregnant woman is not recommended to sit on the threshold of a house; belief says that in the house she is under the protection of a guardian angel, and by crossing the threshold or sitting on it, she falls under the power of demons, famous for sending curses. But there are also quite ordinary explanations for such “impossibles” - sitting on the threshold provokes exposure to drafts and excessive stress on the back, and in general you should be careful in everything so as not to fall and damage the fetus;
  • It is not recommended to step over objects such as a broom or a log, because this is a direct insult to the brownie, who may become upset;
  • There is another very strong prohibition - on playing with cats, because in this case the baby may have the most cunning and insidious enemies, both external and hidden inside the body. In fact, everything is simpler, because the cat is a carrier of toxoplasmosis, which negatively affects the nervous system;
  • Excessive consumption of red berries is fraught with redness of the skin - this applies, first of all, to peaches and oranges, which we love to enjoy.

A few general tips that have a basis in reality, but are mostly classified as signs:

  • You shouldn’t talk to everyone you meet about the upcoming joy; you may meet envious people on your way, from whom you can expect anything, even the elementary evil eye;
  • there is a sign that does not recommend working with ropes or weaving knots - fate can lead you to a dead end and give you a feeling of hopelessness, this, according to signs, is fraught with twisting of the umbilical cord and strangulation of the fetus;
  • there is a sign that if a pregnant woman is doused with water, it will rain outside;
  • and if a person walks down the street and meets a pregnant woman in a dream, it means that there are only a few moments left before the long-awaited success;
  • approach a pregnant woman on the street, talk to her, and you will become successful in your love affairs.

You can’t reveal the name of the unborn baby ahead of time - the demons will find out, and through the name they will bring a curse. And in general, keep your mouth shut more.

What pregnant women should not do: folk signs

Folk signs about the progress of pregnancy make it possible to warn young or not quite mothers from rash actions. Fear is a very good tool for regulating human actions, and most often it works for good. Taking fear as a basis, our ancestors could control both the pregnant woman herself, protecting her from dangers, and her environment, obliging him to treat the expectant mother in an appropriate manner.

Talk about pregnancy

The female body is a precisely and finely tuned “instrument”. It works in a cyclic manner, but sometimes fails. Women have the most developed mental perception of life. Therefore, the sign that one should not talk about pregnancy may warn that if possible disruptions occur in the body and the pregnancy is terminated, then such a woman may be considered deceitful. In this case, they are also afraid of the “evil eye”.

Reveal due date

A sign about why the date of birth should not be disclosed, on the one hand, can put a pregnant woman in danger of miscalculating the date, that is, underbearing or post-term. On the other hand, if you look back into the depths of centuries, this date may unexpectedly reveal some secrets of a woman in an intimate sense.

Which can also cause harm. According to legends, at the moment of a person’s birth, a soul enters his body. But some entity from the other world can also move in, so so that no one could harm the baby, the date of his birth was carefully hidden.

Important! Even the midwife was instructed to enter the house as unnoticed as possible.

Buy things for the child in advance

This sign has a serious basis. Again, it is based on a reasonable approach to the flow of circumstances and life in general. By buying clothes in advance, the expectant mother feels happy and thinks about her future baby every hour. But what if for some reason the mother loses her unborn child or the child is stillborn. All these clothes will become another reason for prolonged depression and nervous breakdowns.

In the old days, a mother could not know the gender of her unborn child, therefore, in order not to waste energy, clothes were the same for both boys and girls. This was called a dowry and was sewn in the evenings with love. Now there is a clear division of the sexes and by ultrasound it is possible to determine who will be. But, nevertheless, it is believed that it is not worth purchasing a complete set. This sign most likely applies to modern times.

Stepping over ropes

Folk signs for pregnant women that prohibit anything, first of all, warn of possible negative consequences.

For example, you should not step over ropes or go under an A-frame ladder. This is a warning that the rope may get tangled in your feet and the ladder may fall. In both cases there will be a threat to the unborn child. Also, do not step on any hatches along the way or on large accumulations of leaves on the ground. Many signs are warnings against possible dangers associated with the physical health of the expectant mother.

Sitting on the threshold

In order not to catch a cold or cause physical injury to the fetus, a sign was invented that during pregnancy one should not sit on the threshold. According to legends, a seizure or threshold is a line that separates the worlds, and, sitting on it, a woman does not give the unborn child the opportunity to decide on the world into which he should come. A similar sign, why one should not sit on stones, thresholds or similar places, is a kind of concern for health, especially women’s.

One of these signs – “Don’t sit on a rock, there won’t be children” – is a clear confirmation of this.

Eating in the dark at night

There are signs for pregnant women that take care of their physical and mental health. For example, there is a ban on eating at night without turning on the light. There are two possible explanations here. The first is the possibility of being frightened by something, unexpected sounds, or someone may come in and catch the woman eating and, accordingly, scare her. The second option, as a rule, eating at night or at night contributes to the accumulation of excess weight.

There are red berries

The sign prohibiting eating red berries has been known for a long time. In addition, red berries contain many substances that can cause allergies in both mother and child subsequently.

On the other hand, most wild red berries are poisonous. Previously, girls and women, including early pregnant women, often went into the forest, picked berries and mushrooms, and the threat of poisoning was not the last.

Take pictures

This sign is already quite modern. Pregnant women are afraid to be photographed so as not to jinx the unborn child, but, simply put, so as not to concentrate their attention on negative thoughts. After all, what will happen if a miscarriage suddenly occurs, but photographs of a woman with a growing belly remain. This will be a tragedy. Nowadays, most women consider photographs of themselves in position to be something sweet and romantic. They seem to be telling the whole world that they are preparing to bring new life into it. This in itself is not bad, but still someone else’s envious glance can bring negativity even through a photograph.

Play with cats

Cats are unpredictable animals. These are, in fact, predators, slightly tamed by humans. Sharp claws can hurt when playing, and harmful microbes can get into the wound, allergies can occur to the fur, and the behavior itself can sometimes frighten. Therefore, pregnant women should not interact too closely with these animals.

As for superstitions, in ancient times, the cat was considered an accomplice of dark forces, attributing to it a connection with the other world. It was believed that by playing with a cat, a pregnant woman could cause trouble or give birth to a defective child.

Attend cemeteries and funerals

There are known bad omens for pregnant women associated with visiting cemeteries and funerals. The cemetery itself has a negative connotation, and the atmosphere of the funeral puts pressure on the psyche. It is logical to assume that when visiting such difficult places and events, a woman expecting a child may become nervous, especially if she is an impressionable person. A miscarriage may occur due to nervousness, or the woman’s condition itself may have a bad effect on the unborn child.

Beauty tips for pregnant women

There are also some completely ridiculous superstitions. For example, it is believed that you should not cut your hair. It is possible, because such a procedure does not affect the child’s condition in any way. But there is one condition. A haircut should not be done in a hairdresser or salon, where there is a lot of chemicals and fine hair dust in the air and where a lot of people come, possibly with some kind of colds. All this can have a negative impact on the health of a pregnant woman. For the same reason, you should not dye your hair with chemical dyes. Vegetable dyes, such as henna or basma, will not cause harm to health.

Another sign related to beauty, you can’t do manicures or do nail extensions, has an undeniable basis. The fact is that hormonal surges affect cell regeneration and nail extensions may not occur correctly. In particular, all the beauty will very quickly fall off, break or will not hold on at all. The second reason is the same chemistry.

Folk signs for determining pregnancy

Often a girl is concerned about the question of whether the long-awaited pregnancy has occurred or not, but in the early stages it is difficult to get a 100% correct answer. Tests, as a rule, are recommended to be used after a delay, and ultrasound even later - not every doctor will be able to examine a tiny embryo before a certain time.

And I really want to know, because for some this is a good reason for changing their lifestyle, being much more attentive to themselves and their health, and taking care of the new life that has already arisen inside. I don’t want to wait - I want to know everything right now. Folk signs can help identify the first signs of pregnancy before a delay. Here they are:

  • if a girl has gained a little weight for no apparent reason, this may be the first sign of pregnancy;
  • unexpected appearance of freckles and age spots;
  • there is a special sensitivity to odors and a sharp change in food preferences;
  • the urine may change color slightly and sometimes have small light particles floating in it;
  • if you pour urine into a copper vessel, then throw a needle into it and leave it until the morning, and in the morning reddish spots will appear on the needle - perhaps the girl is pregnant.

Folk signs associated with the period of conception

When does conception occur

Despite the achievements of modern medicine, many couples, to their deep chagrin, remain childless - despite the fact that doctors cannot find any reasons preventing conception. In this case, well-known ancient methods can help to attract a long-awaited pregnancy.

So, for a long time, in order to get pregnant, women have resorted to methods such as:

  • we tried to communicate closely with friends and acquaintances who were expecting a baby (from time immemorial there was a belief that pregnant women have a special energy that they can share with their friends who dream of a child);
  • they drank from cups from which pregnant women drank;
  • sat on chairs where the expectant mother had previously sat;
  • stroked the belly of the expectant mother;
  • tried on clothes worn by a pregnant woman.

It was also believed that if a girl dreaming of a baby pushes an empty stroller or rocks a baby’s cradle, then very soon she herself will find out about her “interesting situation.”

According to ancient beliefs, a well-known houseplant, ficus, helps to attract pregnancy. If you place a pot with this plant in the bedroom of a young couple, then very soon a long-awaited baby will appear in this family. By the way, according to popular wisdom, a woman can speed up this process if she talks to a flower like a child - addressing it by name and treating it with love and affection.

It should be noted that long before the first signs of pregnancy appeared, many women could identify it by a number of characteristic signs. So, folk signs of pregnancy before the so-called delay. “critical days” include the following list of signs, namely:

  • frequent dizziness and the appearance of a network of veins in the legs;
  • metallic taste in the mouth;
  • loss of strength and drowsiness.

The most common sign indicating the onset of pregnancy is, of course, a change in women’s habits, when the expectant mother, for example, suddenly begins to feel interested in something to which not so long ago she was completely indifferent. Thus, former sweet tooths suddenly experience an inexplicable craving for salty or spicy foods, and fans of an active lifestyle, for strange reasons, suddenly become calm and phlegmatic.

There is an explanation for these incomprehensible, at first glance, changes - as many folk signs about pregnancy in the early stages testify, a woman’s body, entering a new and unknown phase for itself, begins to tell her how best to behave, what to do, what to eat . Taken together, all these “tips” lead to the same changes in appearance and behavior that indicate to others and the woman herself that a new addition to the family is imminent.

Gender of the child

It is impossible to find out the gender of the unborn child before birth. This is not approved by the church. Nowadays, the ultrasound procedure is considered mandatory for all women, although you shouldn’t get carried away with it either.

Boy: cucumber belly, calmer, doesn’t move much. The shape of a pregnant woman’s abdomen depends on the state of the muscles and the position of the uterus, so this sign has no basis.

The girl takes away beauty. This is also not true; pregnant women expecting a boy produce more male hormones, which to some extent changes the woman’s appearance.

Who will the future family member grow up to be - an astronaut or a politician, a scientist or an athlete - all these questions pale in comparison to the desire to find out the gender of the unborn child:

  • if a woman’s belly is bulging and pointed, she will certainly give birth to a boy;
  • if the belly is wide and round, the family is expecting a girl;
  • the woman in labor grows hair on her legs faster than usual - she will delight her husband with a boy, and if slowly, then with a girl;
  • when you had a wedding, before you conceived a child, or later - it turns out according to signs and this can be important, since conception after the wedding means the birth of a future man, and if it happened right on the wedding night - this means the birth of a representative of the fair sex;
  • the sages from the science of metology know exactly how to determine the sex of the unborn child based on the degree of love passion, and if the wife loves her husband more strongly, then she must wait for the future mother to appear, otherwise - for the father;
  • breaks in sex, it turns out, also influence, judging by the signs, the future sex of the baby: for example, with intense mating games, a daughter will certainly be born, and if you take breaks, then a son;
  • strange, but some signs cannot be called anything other than far-fetched, for example, wearing tight underwear will give a man the opportunity to conceive a boy, and the same underwear, but with a loose cut, is guaranteed to determine the gender of the unborn baby as female.

To believe or not to believe in such signs is the free choice of each of us. However, as soon as the expectant mother’s belly is rounded, everyone immediately begins to read the relevant literature. And God forbid that you take advantage of scientific works - they will simply laugh at you.

The story of one pregnancy, or how to attract miracles into your life

Ksenia Wagner talks about the difficulties she faced while expecting her third child, and how faith in the best changes our lives.

I found out about my third pregnancy while vacationing at sea with my older children. Even before buying the dough, having burst into tears for no reason at all over the “beauty of the sunset,” I suspected something... extraordinary. And the tests immediately confirmed this something, or rather someone.

I spent two days in euphoria. She stroked her still very flat stomach, smiled like a sleepwalker, wondered who was there - a boy or a girl? - and everything oozed with some new pride.

And then the difficulties began. My back hurt, I wanted to lie down all the time, and other reasons for concern appeared. I didn’t experience anything like this in my first two pregnancies, so I wrote to the doctor via WhatsApp.

I remember well how the sun, the sea, and other vacation idyll dimmed, when the doctor replied, “This could be a threat! Buy hormones!” And he named the necessary medicine.

The flight back was difficult for me. If there is a threat, flights are prohibited, but I could hardly ask for political asylum on Greek soil. In addition to worrying about these risks, I was tormented by a previously unknown toxicosis, and even the plane was chattering so much that I just quietly prayed - for everyone, both born and unborn.

On the first day after returning, my temperature rose to 38. And I was shaking as if it was 40. I cried from chills, tension and fear for the tiny life inside myself, knowing how “harmful” it is to get sick in the early stages.

The doctor prescribed me antibiotics, told me to lower my temperature, take vitamins, etc. I spent a week in snot and tears, then I recovered, and two weeks later... I got sick again.

Looking at the thermometer at 38, I became quiet, like the air before a rainstorm. Heavy, oppressive silence - both around and inside. A stream of short thoughts about injustice, a surge of resentment, confusion, rage, and almost immediately - acceptance.

“Well, sick means sick. No matter how these viruses affect my child, I will still love him, raise him and nurture him,” I told myself.

And then I remembered the words of my psychotherapist: “You can SCARY yourself to do anything.”

“Indeed, now I HAVE made up my fear,” I thought. – Yes, there are some reasons for it. But while I don’t know for sure whether illnesses will affect the child or not, there is no point in being upset, tormenting myself and tormenting my loved ones. Among whom, by the way, there are already two small children.”

It was as if I had emerged from the abyss where I had been swimming, holding my breath. And she began to breathe again - evenly and measuredly. I started looking on the Internet for books about visualizing good things, found Joe Dispenza’s bestseller about the power of the subconscious, took the plunge, and switched to a positive wave. And this time I recovered faster.

After this exciting start, a couple of months passed without incident (except for a vegetative crisis and a couple more colds).

And then I started having pain in my back, my stomach seemed to sag and my general condition worsened. All this happened during the New Year holidays, my doctor was on vacation, I was at the dacha, and my back hurt so bad that I had to do something urgently. I went for an ultrasound to the nearest clinic, it showed tone, they put me on a drip, and again they wrote terrible words on the papers about the threat of termination of pregnancy.

My first reaction was fear again - as is always the case with neurotics. And again I called on my consciousness to help. So that it, like a muscular orderly, twists my inner hysteric.

Realizing your fear, its toxicity and meaninglessness is the first step to stopping being afraid. Always, in any situation.

I imagined pressing the red button, turning off the panic. The button goes out, and the large heated device (that is, me) stops beeping and smoking.

Then I turned on the big green button - my brain.

At that moment, the brain told me that I needed to calm down, relieve my tone as much as possible and change the doctor.

That's how I ended up in Lapino. I can’t say that only wizards work there, but I was lucky to meet a good and meticulous doctor in the best sense of the word. At the first appointment, he stated that I was at risk of premature birth. I was 24 weeks pregnant, Zosya (I already knew I was carrying a girl) weighed less than a kilogram.

To remove the risks, I was offered surgery. Small, but requiring complete anesthesia of the lower half of the body. The decision had to be made quickly; if they agreed, they would go to bed in an hour. I went for a consultation and ended up in the operating room.

“There is a risk of premature birth. I need to have a minor operation. Everything will be fine, I’ll call you later,” I told my husband, and there was no imaginary calm in my voice. I didn't really panic at that moment. Fear is the most voracious eater of energy. And I needed strength.

Besides, by this point I was just tired of being afraid. “Come what may” is a tormenting phrase for any neurotic. Anxious people, victims of fears, desperately try to control everything, because control gives them a feeling of calm - a deceptive, alas. In fact, constant control only increases the level of anxiety - and this is a vicious circle, a ring road of stress, where every stop is an attack of fear.

“A certain amount of fatalism is a sign of a mature personality,” the psychotherapist told me at one of the sessions. I remembered these words - and with them I “rolled” on the couch into the operating room.

What it means to be a fatalist, everyone decides for himself. In my understanding, this does not mean meaningless risks, but boundless trust. Fate, nature, higher powers. For me personally – to God.

“Are you sleeping there?” the surgeon asked me at some point during the operation. Without feeling the lower part of my body at all (as if It wasn’t there), but realizing that important processes were now taking place in my body, I lay with my eyes closed and prayed that everything would go well.

After the operation, the anesthesiologist carried me onto a wheelchair in his arms - my legs dangled like two sausages, alien and lifeless. This feeling of paralysis lasted for several more hours - and, of course, fears swarmed again: “What if something was damaged and my legs would NOT come back?” And I again called for help both fatalism and rationalism at the same time. I thought about good things and corresponded with loved ones, remembering that fear, like any weed, grows lushly in an empty field - it entangles the brain when it is not occupied with anything.

Some time after the operation, a new problem overtook me - an incomprehensible rash. “Go see an infectious disease specialist immediately,” my doctor, who is not prone to panic, told me. And I again trudged through the offices - an infectious disease specialist, a therapist, a dermatologist, urgent blood donation and more and more spots on my body. When an experienced dermatologist gave me the correct - and fortunately not dangerous - diagnosis, I was ready to kiss his glossy bald head. Nothing oppresses us more than uncertainty, and when multiplied by fears, it even turns into torture.

Having dealt with the spots, I came to my psychotherapist and complained of fatigue. “Of course, I have made significant progress in the fight against fears, but they still do not go away completely,” I admitted. “This time, after various worries during pregnancy, fear of childbirth appeared, although the first two times it was not there at all.”

And then my doctor started talking about my wealth. About those priceless gifts that have already been created by me and life. About all the good things that were given and are being given to me - as a foundation for Faith.

Every time we encounter difficulties, we tend to remember all the previous troubles and “injustices,” lump everything into one pile, and feel sorry for ourselves. This dump of negative emotions gives us nothing - except new problems.

The more garbage we throw into this hole, the more difficult it is to get out of it, because resentment - towards life, towards ourselves, towards others - is the most powerful magnet for new troubles.

Why is it difficult for us to think about good things in difficult moments, to be filled with gratitude for the bright and joyful things we have, to dream and be inspired? Because we are in tension and in... fear. But what do these feelings give us? Nothing, they only take away strength and send out waves of anxiety in which not only we, but also our loved ones flounder. We spend a colossal amount of energy on them, which we could direct, in fact, to solving the problem - both actual and “energetic”, that is, visualizing the good.

“Make a plan for your birth! – the psychotherapist advised me. “Collect the most positive pictures, select music, and watch this film as often as possible.”

I confess, I didn’t make the film, but after this visit I surrendered to the flow of magic. I no longer allowed myself to think about bad things. I consciously built a positive scenario. Putting aside superstitions (the same fears, only on the side), I bought clothes for the baby, arranged family photo sessions, and discussed with the older children how they would help my dad and me when their little sister was born. I followed the necessary “safety measures”, but did not shake myself like a crystal vase. Already with a big belly, I went to work meetings, to cafes, theaters, met with friends, cooked, shopped, and walked with older children. I just lived - and tried to do it in such a way that there was no room for fears.

And guess what?

I never got sick again. I spent these weeks in peace and joy, in harmony and inner satisfaction. Every day I rejoiced in life and thanked Her for everything I have. Tests, ultrasound, other studies - everything was perfect. Miracle? May be. Or maybe it’s both a miracle and a consequence of treating your own life correctly. With our body and consciousness, which are not a given, but a magical constructor from which we can build garbage containers, or we can build flying ships.

...Just before I gave birth, my eldest son caught a severe virus with a temperature of 40. After five days under great stress, I finally became infected. In Lapino, the doctors put on double masks after looking at my blood test - they had not seen such a virus for a long time. They gave me 10 IVs, started injecting me with antibiotics, and started checking for pneumonia and pleurisy. I won’t play the tin soldier and pretend that I was thinking about good things. I cried and didn’t think about anything because I was too tired. But I WASN'T AFRAID. I couldn’t imagine that my daughter would decide to be born in the midst of a viral war. I talked to her and to myself, urging both of us to wait for my recovery. I sent my body all the light energy I was capable of. When the fever subsided, I wrote a long entry in my diary, full of gratitude to life for everything I have. The birth began the next day - natural, without stimulation or anesthesia, not the easiest (and to be honest, of all my births, probably the most difficult), but in the end safe.

When red, wet and still connected to me by the umbilical cord, Zosya was placed on my stomach, she screamed like a five-kilogram boy, and not a three-kilogram princess. And in this cry there was so much power and character that I thought - she was already like that inside me, strong and thirsty for life, she was given to me like a priceless gift, and therefore she and I were able to overcome all the difficulties before our meeting.

...Now, when I finish writing this text, Zosya sniffles into my side (holding my chest with her hand just in case - in case I dare to remove this best pillow in the world). I rub my cheek against Her velvet head, hold her silken heels in my palms, and this warmth of a tiny loved one makes me the most grateful woman in the world. And also the most fearless.

Boy or girl - signs during pregnancy

Very often, future parents are concerned with the question: who will be born to them, a boy or a girl? And here, before or instead of determining gender by ultrasound, folk signs will come to the rescue.

So, a woman is most likely expecting a boy if:

  • her stomach is pointed and practically invisible from the back, and the top of her stomach “looks” to the right;
  • hair begins to grow very actively on the legs and even a few hairs may appear on the tummy;
  • severe swelling of the legs during pregnancy and strange coldness in them;
  • you want to eat often and a lot, mainly salty and meat foods;
  • the expectant mother does not lose her attractiveness during pregnancy, but looks even better than before;
  • the nose swells quite a bit.

And if a girl is “hiding” in her tummy, signs about pregnancy and the sex of the child tell us the following:

  • the belly itself is rounded and seems wide, and its top “looks” to the left;
  • pigment spots that appear on the stomach;
  • constant desire to eat something sweet or fruity;
  • the appearance of the expectant mother is gradually deteriorating - it is believed that the daughter “takes away” her mother’s beauty;
  • the expectant mother often gets irritated and upset over trifles;
  • hands become softer and more tender than they were before pregnancy;
  • Pregnant women often prefer to sleep on their right side rather than their left.

And there are also these folk signs of early pregnancy with a boy or a girl, although it would be more correct to call them methods:

  • ask the pregnant woman to take the key from the table. If she takes it by the rounded end, she is pregnant with a boy, and by the pointed end, she is pregnant with a girl. And if it’s beyond the middle, then there is a chance that twins will be born;
  • For the next experiment you will need a strong thread and a wedding ring. We thread the ring through the thread and hold this kind of pendulum over the pregnant woman’s belly. If the pendulum swings back and forth, there is a girl in the tummy, and if it moves, describing a circle, then there is a boy.

If you are just planning a pregnancy, but really want a baby of a certain gender, the following folk beliefs can help:

  • if you sprinkle a little sugar on the window sill of a room that is a matrimonial bedroom, there is a greater chance that you will be able to conceive a girl, and if you use salt, then a boy;
  • if the expectant mother sleeps with her head to the north, a son will be born, and if to the south, then a daughter;
  • An interesting sign that you will soon become pregnant with a boy is that they are much more often born to parents who are officially married;
  • if you want a boy, when planning a pregnancy, eat more salty foods, and if you have a girl, then sweet foods;
  • to conceive a girl, place scissors and a wooden spoon under the mattress of the marital bed, and a small bow under the pillow;
  • if a woman wants to conceive a boy, she must be more active during intimacy than a man.

But the most important thing is not to forget that it is not so important what gender the baby will be, the main thing is that he is healthy.

A woman's well-being during pregnancy with a boy

If a pregnant woman is expecting a boy, her well-being changes significantly:

  • She feels a feeling of heat, her palms become dry.
  • Feels cold in your legs.
  • The hair on the limbs begins to actively grow.

All these signs are caused by increased levels of male hormones. Although, doctors say that during pregnancy, on the contrary, the level of estrogen, the female hormone, increases, and changes associated with impaired thermoregulation and dry skin are explained by changes in metabolism. An increase in temperature occurs in almost all pregnant women.

Headache can occur due to high or low blood pressure. In this case, it is necessary to regularly measure blood pressure.

  • If you have low blood pressure, you need to drink a cup of tea and do some light physical activity.
  • If your blood pressure is too high, you should visit your doctor immediately.

Ancient beliefs

Porch. Threshold. A pregnant woman should not sit on the porch or on the threshold. Of course, this is correct, you can fall from a porch or from a high threshold, and it can blow through if the door is open.

Wedding. Pregnant women cannot register a relationship in May, the child will suffer and suffer all his life. Even modern brides are afraid to get married in May, but it all started two thousand years ago. Roman men did not marry in May because they made sacrifices to the dead in May. From May 9 to May 13, Lemuria took place, days dedicated to the spirits of the dead.

Twins. A pregnant woman should not eat eggs with two yolks or “double” fruits (for example, two carrots joined together). This can result in twins being born. The appearance of twins has nothing to do with the assortment of the expectant mother’s table, it all depends on heredity. But there is a rational grain in the fact that eggs are a strong allergen, red fruits too, so it is better to eat them in moderation.

“You can’t comb a pregnant woman’s hair on Fridays.” The sign is associated with the name of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, the patroness of pregnant women; if you do not respect her, she will not help during childbirth.

That, perhaps, is all about the signs that you may or may not follow. Signs are just the generalized experience of humanity and here you need to rely more on your feelings and sensations, since we are all different.

Signs and superstitions during pregnancy

There are many signs of pregnancy, that a long-awaited miracle will soon come and the girl has time to prepare for it. But there are also many popular beliefs about how to behave correctly during pregnancy and what you should never do. Here are some of them that can easily be explained:

  • You shouldn’t immediately tell everyone about your pregnancy; for the first few months it’s better to keep it secret;
  • You should not do handicrafts - sewing, knitting, embroidery;
  • You should not take certain poses - raise your arms up, sit cross-legged, or sit or stand on the threshold;
  • It is better to stop communicating and playing with cats for a while;
  • You should not eat certain foods - red berries and fish.

Probably no one can accurately suggest signs for pregnancy that work one hundred percent. But it won’t hurt to listen to folk wisdom, because many of the folk signs can give hope to those who are already desperate and open up new opportunities for them. And for those who are already carrying a baby under their hearts, it is possible to maintain the pregnancy and give birth easily.
