Killer Alexey Kabanov explained why he didn’t get rid of his wife’s body

“If it were possible to bury her somehow...” 38-year-old Kabanov explained his action. “And some internal threshold did not allow me to throw it in the trash.”

It was clear from everything that the defendant was preparing to speak. Contrary to expectations, he did not deny his guilt and did not say anything bad about his wife. What he said made it possible to put together all the assumptions and conjectures previously voiced by family and friends. Yes, there were problems in the family, Kabanov confirmed. Mainly because of money. A rented apartment, three small children, a nanny, a non-working wife who constantly falls into depression - all this against the backdrop of a constant lack of finances.

— Last year the situation became much more complicated, and by the end of the year it escalated to the limit. Problems began to affect the relationship between Irina and I, quarrels left the “peaceful shores” and reached a certain peak. In recent months we hardly spoke, I spent all my time at work, and upon my return I began to notice more and more often that there was not enough alcohol in the house. When Irina drank, she could not stop - even her friends said this. We didn’t find out anything, although now I understand that it was necessary. Over the course of five years, a lot of grievances and understatements have accumulated. They never swore loudly, they tried to whisper so that the children would not hear. That night was probably the first time we raised our voices at each other...” Kabanov recalled.

Describing the events of the evening of January 2, the defendant did not tell anything fundamentally new. They baked cookies, cooked dinner, fed the children, read fairy tales... Then they drank, quarreled, smoked a lot, argued. They started talking about divorce; this was not the first time that words had come out of the spouses’ mouths.

“It wasn’t a drunken fight,” explains Kabanov. “I drank quite a bit, Irina, but a lot, really.” Lately she had been in a gloomy depressive state, and this evening was the first happy one for some time. I don’t remember how the scandal started. Irina threatened that one day I would return from work, and the children would no longer be there. Not that I took her words seriously, but she had already left home several times, did not spend the night, and returned in the evening the next day. I may have answered something harsh - you’ll go to Ukraine (that’s where she’s from), to the station, I won’t give up the children. I love my children madly, you know?.. She kept repeating and repeating that she would take the children away. Powerlessness, despair, anger, rage, a feeling of hopelessness of the situation. In the heat of a quarrel, Ira rushed at me with her fists, and I hit her back. What happened next I only remember in fragments.

Kabanov did not immediately begin to dismember his wife’s corpse and put it into bags, as was said at the investigation. At first there was stupor, shock, then a feverish desire to hide the traces of the crime. The body lay in the bathroom for a day before the killer decided to do it.

“Panic horror seized me. It was scary to go there,” the defendant admitted. — At some point, the only correct decision arose - “this” needed to be removed from the apartment. It was cold, and I took “this” out onto the balcony... It is noteworthy that when mentioning Irina after her death and dismemberment, Alexey Kabanov persistently called her “this”.

“Nothing would have happened if in ten days I had finally taken the bags out from the balcony...” Kabanov said with regret at the end of his speech. Then he honestly added that he had no intention of surrendering to the police; he hoped to stay with the children and raise three of them, including his wife’s son from her first marriage.

“Thousands of people who organized the search for Ira accuse me of using them to hide traces of the crime. But that's not true! “I personally didn’t ask anyone to help me,” the criminal addressed those present. He never uttered a word of regret or repentance.

The business of Alexei Kabanov’s wife Rosa is going uphill - the girl opened her own clothing store in one of the shopping centers. And all thanks to the fact that one day, on the advice of her friend, she decided to take part in “House-2”. When Rose gave birth to her daughter Alice, in her free time from caring for the baby, she began drawing sketches for clothes. Her husband financially supported her decision to become a designer, and her close friend Aliana Gobozova from Dom-2 suggested promoting a business project in an unconventional way.

“Rosa told her friends, Aliana Gobozova and Evgeny Rudnev from Dom-2, about her collection. And Aliana and Zhenya recommended that she come to the project herself, convincing her that this was the best way to promote the collection,” recalls Lesha. “But to come to the project, you needed a story. So Zhenya and I came up with the idea that I found messages from another fan on my husband’s phone and decided to teach him a lesson,” adds Rosa.

All viewers of the reality show were quite surprised when the wife of the lead singer of the group “Korni,” the mother of a one-year-old daughter, suddenly came to the project to look for new love. Of course, at the very first program, Rosa listened to many reproaches. Rumors spread that everything was over between the spouses and a divorce was coming. But the worst thing was that Rosa herself began to be suspected of a new novel.

“Who would have known that everything would turn out like this. Everyone immediately began to write that my wife had cuckolded me - she was cheating on me with Rudnev. And I still think: what the hell did I get myself into?” - Kabanov is indignant in an interview with OK! magazine. Fortunately, Rosa quickly came to her senses and left the project, and gossip could not spoil the good relationship between the family and their mutual friend Evgeny Rudnev.

Now there is peace and quiet in the Kabanov family. Lesha gets along well with his daughter Alisa, babysits her while Rosa cooks and cleans the house. True, at night only Rose is on duty at the crib. “There you only have to get up once to feed Aliska,” the singer smiles. “Not just once, but several times,” explains his wife. “Lesha just doesn’t hear when I get up several times at night - he thinks it’s just one time.”

The Kabanovs have been together for three years and do not deny that sometimes lightning flashes between them. “Of course, like all ordinary people, we quarrel and make peace, and solve everyday problems,” the couple laughs. -Young people, your blood is boiling. Everyone is quarreling. It’s just that someone brings it out to the public, and someone sorts things out in their apartment.”

Alexey Kabanov killed his wife because of his mistress

In the photo on social networks, Alexey looked like an ideal husband and father, but in reality he constantly cheated on his wife and was unable to provide for his family.

In the capital, the investigation into the most notorious murder of this year - the 38-year-old mother of three children Irina Kabanova - has ended.

On January 3, Irina was killed by her own husband and father of her two children, 39-year-old Muscovite Alexei Kabanov. He strangled his wife, dismembered her body in the bathroom and then kept the remains on the balcony for several days. He himself reported on the Internet that Ira left home and disappeared. He begged: “If among our mutual friends there is someone who knows what’s wrong with her, then just say that she’s alive.”

Police, family friends, and volunteers were looking for the woman. And on January 11, Ira was found—more precisely, her head and several fragments of her torso. In the car that Alexey borrowed from one of his girlfriends.

The media devoted thousands of publications to this story. Komsomolskaya Pravda also conducted its own investigation (see the material by Ulyana Skoybeda: part 1 and part 2). But still, it was not entirely clear why Kabanov, the son of intelligent parents, a regular at bohemian parties, committed such an atrocity. It seems that now there is an answer to this question.

New Year's loneliness

Kabanov’s case was studied for several months by the writer and author of Komsomolskaya Pravda Marina Talagaeva. Her book “Margins of a new formation: Kabanov story” will soon appear on the website kp.ru.

“Alexey had several mistresses, at least two after he and Irina started dating,” says Marina. “Some of Ira’s friends knew about it, but for a long time she either didn’t realize it or didn’t want to think about it. And only in early November did Irina know for sure that her Lesha was walking to the left.

The last weeks before the New Year turned into torture for Irina. With three children - seven-year-old Ilya, three-year-old Dasha and two-year-old Taras - she sat at home and painfully wondered: how could they all live for a week on 1000 rubles?

The family was sorely short of money: Alexey did not have a permanent job, and his occasional part-time jobs did not save the situation. Ira expressed her dissatisfaction to her husband. These reproaches infuriated Alexei. As the family’s former nanny Tatyana Stefanets told KP, he repeatedly raised his hand to his wife—Ira didn’t really hide the bruises.

A new reason for the quarrel was Alexey’s flight on New Year’s Eve. The woman and her children celebrated the holiday without Kabanov. Tatyana Stefanets told KP how she helped the hostess put together a small festive table, and then went to her own family. Kabanov left in the afternoon.

Where did Alexey spend New Year's Eve? There are two versions on this matter. Alexey told Irina that he worked in a restaurant, but did not receive any money. The version of family acquaintances sounds more plausible: Alexey went to celebrate the New Year with his mistress. This explains why on the afternoon of January 1 he showed up home drunk and without a penny in his pocket.

“Irina, of course, was on nerves all night and all day on January 1st. Plus, her friends started to wind her up: they say, you and Lesha need to have a serious conversation,” says Marina Talagaeva.

On January 2, when Alexey sobered up, Ira apparently caused a serious scandal. He cost her her life.

Whiskey, tequila and a little vodka

How exactly the events developed on this day can now be judged only by Alexey’s stories. Irina is in the grave, and her children, fortunately, are too small to realize the full horror of what happened. One thing is certain: on January 2, the couple drank together. And a lot.

“Kabanov said that they drank a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of tequila and some more vodka between them,” said a source in the investigation.

This is, of course, strange. There are three children in the apartment, no money, and the spouses are pumped up with expensive alcohol. Have you tried to make peace? Or did they drink out of despair, realizing that nothing could be fixed? Be that as it may, from drinking to a quarrel is one step. Moreover, there were reasons for the scandal - betrayal and lack of money.

But where does the money for whiskey and tequila come from? It turned out that the day before Irina once again took out a loan: she had to pay off the nanny. True, they never gave the nanny the money.

We have already described the rest. There is a quarrel, Kabanov tears off the rope on which the laundry is drying and strangles Ira. Her eldest son Ilya wakes up from her scream (Kabanov is his stepfather). Alexey, having convinced his stepson that everything is in order, sends the child back to bed, returns to the kitchen and finishes off Irina with a knife in the stomach. And then he drags him into the bathroom and dismembers him.

Cheating on the day of your wife's birth

Komsomolskaya Pravda wrote in detail about Kabanov’s character, his lies and penchant for scams. A few more touches to the portrait.

“Alexey had a mistress from whom he extracted money,” says Marina Talagaeva. “In total, he managed to borrow 500 thousand rubles from her!” Alexey found different reasons: either for an operation on his supposedly sick father, or something else.

While Ira was preparing for Dasha’s birth, Alexey and his mistress went to the taverns. The couple also visited the Udarnik casino, where Lesha periodically spent serious sums. It got to the point that the management of the establishment tried to warn the girl that Alexey was an avid gambler and rogue. But she didn’t believe it.

— On the day when Ira gave birth to his first child, Dasha, Alexey was with his mistress. His parents went to the maternity hospital,” continues Marina Talagaeva. - Moreover, Alexei’s mistress did not even suspect that he had a pregnant wife. I found out by chance: on social networks I saw friends congratulating Lesha on the birth of her first child. And on the same day I broke off the relationship.

Got into religion

After the tragedy, the Kabanov children were actually left orphans. Little Dasha and Taras live with their grandmother’s sister in a small town near Donetsk. Irina’s eldest son Ilya went to Israel with his father and his wife. The boy really misses Dasha and Taras.

“In the summer, Ilyusha came to Ukraine with his father, and with his brother and sister they vacationed at the seaside,” Tatyana Stefanets, a former nanny of the Kabanov family, told KP. — I also came to the kids in Ukraine. And now I communicate with them almost every day on Skype. Everything is getting better for them: the apartment where they live has been renovated, Irina’s family loves them very much. In September, Dasha will turn four years old. And the youngest son of Ira and Alexei Taras spoke. And he constantly asks: “Where did mom and dad go?”

Despite the fact that at the time of the tragedy the Kabanovs owed Tatiana Stefanets more than 100 thousand rubles, she did not abandon the children after Ira’s disappearance. She spent almost a week in the same apartment with the killer. The debt was eventually returned to her: family friends and Komsomolskaya Pravda readers chipped in to help this amazing woman.

What about Alexey Kabanov? According to his lawyer Mikhail Menglibaev, in the pre-trial detention center the man decided to engage in human rights activities - he helps fellow inmates write appeals to the investigation and to the management of the pre-trial detention center. And in his free time he studies religious literature.

“I ordered the Torah, Koran and Bible for my cell,” said Mikhail Menglibaev.

- No, he reads for general development...

At the same time, according to him, Alexey completely repents.

“What worries him most is the fate of the children - he asks about them at every meeting,” the lawyer assures.

The examination found Alexey Kabanov absolutely sane. The killer faces up to 15 years in prison. But Alexey doesn’t want to sit for that long. At the trial, he intends to prove that he killed his wife in a state of passion and, in general, she regularly “brought him down.” Will he be able to do this?
