Red lipstick and red blush are kind of common. But if they use red in eye makeup, it is done with great caution, because it can give the eyes a painful or tired look, as if from lack of sleep.
This happens when mistakes are made when applying products. In this material we will analyze them, and also tell you what features of red makeup need to be taken into account, what rules are used to create it, and what types of makeup in red tones are suitable for different types of appearance.

Features of red makeup
- The basic rule to follow is dictated by the main concern. To eliminate the possibility of a painful effect, you do not need to do such makeup if you haven’t had enough sleep or, say, are tired. Otherwise, the look will be unhealthy, no matter how hard you try. If everything is in order, proceed. The most cautious can play it safe by using drops that neutralize even a hint of redness in the eyes. These are always in the beauty arsenal of makeup artists who prepare morning show hosts for broadcast.

- In red eye makeup, it is better not to use red pigment in its pure form. Let it be shadows with shimmer or shiny eyeliner. You can complement red with other shades and create a smooth transition between them. One way or another, red will require careful shading from you, unless we are talking about thin graphic arrows. By the way, you will find red eyeliner in the Vivid Brights Eyeliner collection from NYX Professional Makeup - shade Fire.

- If you decide to focus on your eyes with red shades, then the blush should be in a different range. You can use bronzer for this purpose. Red blush (even after good blending) in combination with red eye makeup will give the face a “steamed” look.

I even blushed: how to do red eye makeup
Many people are afraid to paint their eyes red and burgundy - and by the way, such makeup is even more universal than bronze, beige and black: it emphasizes any eye color. In addition, red eyes look fashionable, unusual and cool, and making such a make-up is no more difficult than a classic one. BeautyHack special correspondent Moore Soboleva collected the most interesting funds.
Eyeshadow Gash, Urban Decay
The brand considers the warm red shade to be one of its main successes - judging by the fact that UD included Gash in their anniversary palette XX Vice LTD Reloaded. Gash is sold as a mono eyeshadow as part of the limited edition XX Vintage collection, which I already wrote about. This shade is what made me really fall in love with red shades - it applies so well and really makes my eyes pop.
Pencil Automatic Eyeliner Purple, WYCON
I don't think I've ever run out of eyeliners so quickly. Complex wine color, excellent shadeability, durability and the effect it produces on green eyes - just the perfect pencil that you want to use in almost every makeup look. It itself is capable of “doing” the entire make-up, and, if necessary, it perfectly acts as a support for olive, purple, burgundy and brown shades.
Eyeliner Vivid Fire, NYX
I love the Vivid Brights series of eyeliners - they have a comfortable brush, thin and neat, and most importantly, bright (and matte!) shades, which have practically no analogues on the market. Vivid Fire is a very cool clean red; I keep looking for the same eyeliner and can't find it.
Shadows Desdemona, NARS
In the wonderful series of Dual Intensity shadows there is an extraordinary shade Desdemona - wine with a lilac tint. NARS encourages playing with how you apply these shadows, dry or wet. Personally, I usually don’t bother with wetting the brush—the shadows are pigmented enough to look good even when applied traditionally. But if you are not lazy and apply with a damp brush, the shade looks almost like a metallic duochrome - very beautiful.
Burgundy pencil, Estee Lauder
The quiet star of the brand is the Double Wear pencils, which in any case are no worse than the famous Urban Decay, but are much less known in the beauty world. The shades in the range are more or less classic, but this wine color with small sparkles is one of the most interesting. Longevity, pigmentation and ease of application - it's all about it.
Subversif mascara, Chanel
Part of the brand’s autumn “red” collection, which became Lucia Pica’s loud statement about herself (it’s hard to remember the same bright appearance of the new art director in the luxury suite). An excellent dark wine shade - it’s not very obvious that the mascara is reddish on the eyes, but the eyes instantly become brighter. The mascara was released in the newest line of the Dimensions de Chanel brand, which promises to simultaneously fulfill all wishes for mascara and does not deceive - it separates, lengthens and adds volume.
Creamy product Henna, Armani
The Eye & Brow Maestro line started with classic shades, but over the years it has accelerated - and now it is possible to paint eyes and eyebrows in platinum, olive, lilac and red. Not all shades in the series turned out to be bright enough to paint over eyebrows, but Henna is great: the warm red color is noticeable even on dark eyebrows.
Glitter N7 Red, Make Up For Ever
The world community is slowly starting to get tired of glitter, but it seems that this will never happen to me (I’ll have to go unfashionable). Make Up For Ever universal glitters can be applied anywhere - even on the eyes (just make sure you have a good and moderately “sticky” base), or on the lips, as Pat McGrath suggests.
Honeymoon palette, Tom Ford
And I can’t do this review without Tom Ford’s palette, which is called Honeymoon (apparently, newlyweds on a sleepless honeymoon should have red eyes with passion). The self-proclaimed king of luxury and sex makes breathtakingly beautiful palettes that you want to collect everything. Every shade is good here - if you are not in the mood for red, you can do a warm reddish daily make-up.

Eye makeup with red shadows
- Blue-eyed and gray-eyed girls should take a closer look at red shades. It is with their eye color that red will contrast most advantageously.

- When choosing red eyeshadow, it is better to immediately exclude matte textures - unless your goal is to create an extravagant art make-up.
- Copper shadows with a reddish metallic sheen are suitable for every day. Blend them closer to the lash line and get an airy haze around the eye contour. The key to success is careful shading. There should be no clear lines that indicate the border of color application.

- It is not necessary to strive to choose a shade that is closest to classic red. You can give preference, for example, to burgundy. Check out Urban Decay's Naked Heat palette for a variety of shades with red undertones.

- To ensure that red makeup doesn't make your eyes look sore, you need to do a few things. One of the techniques is to line the mucous membrane with white kajal or at least a nude shade with shimmer.
To create a “fiery” haze on your eyelids, watch the tutorial video from makeup artist Yulia Sizykh.

Makeup in red tones for blondes
In blonde makeup, red looks best on the lips. However, if a girl with blond hair also has light eyes - blue or gray, then they can be emphasized with red. Shading the pencil line drawn along the eyelash contour, put a little copper shadow on the brush. The result will be a light smokey effect, which will be very appropriate in an everyday look.

Makeup in red tones for brunettes
Dark-haired girls also look great with red lipstick. It further emphasizes the expressiveness of a bright appearance. But red brunettes shouldn’t emphasize their eyes. The option with a reddish haze around the contour, which is relevant for blondes, is not suitable for them. But you can go for a beauty experiment and draw clear arrows with red eyeliner, while leaving your eyelashes bare.
