Beauty requires sacrifice? Women have been using toxic cosmetics for centuries

Beauty does not require sacrifice: procedures for which you are not worth enduring pain

The desire to be beautiful is genetically inherent in women: we always shave, pluck, cut, paint, apply, remove, build up, curl, inject, enlarge, reduce, correct, etc. We are constantly improving, we try new things and look for ourselves every day. Even if it’s incredibly unpleasant for us to once again adjust the shape of our eyebrows or torment our skin with an epilator. This means that it may happen that not all beauty rituals (even those familiar to the majority) are equally useful. Not all women analyze which “care” practices really bring pleasure, and which ones turn into real service and hard labor. And in vain, because everything we deal with should be as close as possible to our comfort. When does one or another beauty practice become negative? Then when…

You regularly experience pain . If a beauty ritual cannot be called pleasant (and there are many of them), and you constantly endure pain while performing it, if you experience regular discomfort, then you should think about leaving it in the past or looking for an alternative. For example, it hurts to pluck your eyebrows, even after a bath. You can find a replacement for this procedure: for example, eyebrow correction with a special razor, or using a trimmer. Wrapping for weight loss and silhouette tightening is not always painless due to the components contained in the mixtures (hot pepper, mustard, essential oils, various pharmaceutical products); many women note a very strong burning sensation. Or it hurts you to walk in high heels (some people are obliged to work, others wear them to attract male attention, etc.). You can look for a more stable heel or switch entirely to a wedge heel, so nothing will threaten your health and you will not suffer from pain in your feet. If you are a fan of salon cosmetology and resort to such serious procedures as deep chemical peeling, laser resurfacing or, for example, anti-cellulite ozone therapy, then you can probably note that all this cannot be called an attraction - such events are quite painful, sometimes even very painful. As you notice the many negative feelings (both physical and mental) you experience before or after your procedure, you've probably wondered if you really need them. Or is it still worth looking for some other options that won’t seem like torture to you? Let’s say everything that involves anesthesia or does not involve severe pain.

You are forced to deal with the unpleasant consequences of beauty practices. When a woman begins to be bothered by the negative “legacy” of beauty rituals, there is hardly any point in continuing them. Can true beauty require such sacrifices, and even at the expense of your health? Take, for example, depilation, which everyone is already tired of. If, after some of its forms, you encounter irritation and ingrown hairs, then, as noted above, you should choose alternative options (wax strips, special creams, photoepilation), or abandon it completely (if this, of course, fits into your reality and social life). Some women experience painful allergic reactions to the now fashionable shellac (nail coating), which is accompanied by the appearance of bubbles and blisters. In this case, you should definitely refuse this form of manicure, because... this is fraught with the development of serious diseases. Give preference to a classic coating without exposure to ultraviolet radiation. If you regularly lighten your hair, you could feel a burning sensation and even pain from the effects of bleaching agents, not to mention a noticeable deterioration in the condition of your hair, its damage, and brittleness. Many lightening products, even on the modern beauty market, are quite aggressive and can harm the scalp, causing burns. As a result: severe redness, flaking, dandruff, hair loss. There is only one way out: refuse bleaching, or switch to the safest means possible, after consulting with a specialist. Foundations are also, of course, very popular. However, many products are very thick and clog pores, causing acne. Such consequences are also not at all positive, which is why you should choose lighter products that will not clog your pores, or use thick foundation creams infrequently and be sure to remove makeup, especially before bed.

You get nervous when you don't do your beauty routine . When you skip a certain beauty practice for some reason (for example, you can’t leave the house without makeup), you feel anxiety, worry, shame, and fear. Is this normal? Certainly not. This clearly indicates a monstrous lack of self-confidence and lack of acceptance of one’s own appearance. If you always think that you will be judged, scolded, ridiculed, scolded or shamed for not painting your nails, not growing your braid down to your waist, not wearing stiletto heels, not wearing tight clothes, etc., then seriously think about your relationship with your body. You don't have to conform to anyone's idea of beauty or anyone's ideals. Do not forget that a person is loved not for his appearance, but for more important qualities. Don’t pay too much attention to beauty rituals, don’t copy stars and popular bloggers, but do only what you love.

You always choose between beauty practices and other things. For example, sleep. For example, a complete and balanced diet. For example, vital means. Or you constantly doubt whether you really need all this. Then we can confidently say that there is really something wrong with your beauty ritual, and it has no place in your life. When you buy a fashionable bag just because it’s a Birkin, but you have nothing to pay rent or nothing to buy a warm jacket or boots for, then such beauty experiments should not be carried out in principle. Or when you take a certain period of time away from your sleep in order to “make up your mind,” and then spend the rest of the day yawning and afraid to rub your eyes because there are a couple of layers of mascara on them. When you want to lose weight quickly and exhaust yourself with a hunger strike instead of adjusting your diet in the right, healthy way. It’s unlikely that all this can be called a positive practice in self-care. Beauty should not cause damage in any aspect - neither physical, nor psycho-emotional, nor financial. Women deserve to enjoy beauty, maintain it and create it, but they should not endure anything or force themselves to do anything. There is no need to do “something” for the sake of “someone”, live for yourself and enjoy life. Beauty should not require sacrifice from women, beauty is designed to serve them.

Beauty does not require sacrifice! Beauty requires attention!

Ask yourself a question: how do you choose who you are willing to trust with your appearance and mood? By proximity, by operating hours, by prices for services, by level of service, by interior? Or do you have other criteria? We offer readers the code of professional ethics of the Larisa Rumyantseva Beauty Studio. Perhaps such an approach to your business will serve as a standard against which you should compare the requirements for salons and hairdressing salons.

Code of Professional Ethics of Larisa Rumyantseva Beauty Studio

  1. You will not encounter a situation where your problems or features will be discussed in the presence of third parties, other clients or salon employees who are not currently occupied with you. Professional ethics will also not allow you to discuss your competitors, their level, and especially their mistakes and weaknesses.
  2. Full respect for the client’s rights: You have the right to refuse, change your mind before the master has started work, and you have the right to ask again and clarify at any time. A consultation with a specialist is intended to orient you, to help you make a choice in favor of a particular manicure technique, care procedure, haircut, hair color, etc., but does not oblige you to follow all the advice. The choice is always yours.
  3. The studio often hosts test days, when we perform procedures using new products for our regular clients. It is your right to choose an innovative product or choose another professional cosmetics known to you.
  4. The administrator strictly monitors the recording and comfort of our clients. No queues, no “wait, the master is busy.” This is your time, and only you are the center of attention of the specialist. We maintain a creative, hospitable and friendly atmosphere in the studio both within the team and in relations with clients.
  5. The studio employs certified masters of a high level and level of training. We value the time and personal space of each client and strive to perform our work efficiently and quickly.
