Woman.ru: Can you highlight any particularly favorite image from those demonstrated at the “New Wave”?
Yana Rudkovskaya:
Judging by the reaction of my followers on Instagram, the most “likes” were collected by the “look” from the Dior autumn collection, which I demonstrated during the second day of the competition. In general, I’ve only been on Instagram for three months, but I already have 72 thousand subscribers. In addition to Dima and Zhenya, I have new projects: a children’s academy of cinema and show business, a program on MUZ-TV, a website about luxury and quality of life and much more - and I work constantly, I earn enough and I don’t deny myself outfits. By the way, I recently started going through my wardrobe and realized that I have vintage Chanel items that are 15 years old!
When someone now says that I began to dress more expensively or better, this is not entirely fair: I always dressed well - I just didn’t have social networks before.
Still, we must not forget that I was in the fashion business for 6 years and represented all the main brands in the south of Russia: Dior, Dolce&Gabbana, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci. Therefore, of course, there were connections and contacts, and most importantly, the desire to dress beautifully. This is very important for me as a public person.
Woman.ru: Do you remember your first expensive designer item? What was it?
Y.R.:
Of course I remember. At the age of 20, I came to Paris for the first time and bought a small black Chanel bag, which then cost me crazy money. I kept it for a long time, and then gave it to someone, although, to be honest, I regret it a little. Now this handbag would be 20 years old! Although I have accessories that are already 15 years old.
Woman.ru: Have you collected a large Chanel collection over the years?
Y.R.:
At least 50 copies!
Woman.ru: Do you have items from affordable brands in your wardrobe? Or do you choose exclusively “luxury”?
Y.R.:
Unfortunately or fortunately, I don’t wear mass-market clothes.
Not because I categorically do not accept it, but because manufacturers of democratic clothing do not focus on those with a figure like mine. I have the smallest size, but I have large breasts and rather thin legs, so not everything fits. And I usually have very little time for shopping - if I have a day, of course, I go to my favorite, trusted stores. In addition, expensive things only increase in price over time. It's no secret that the store in Paris that sells vintage Chanel has a huge line that you have to line up at 5 a.m. to get in and buy something interesting.
It's like an investment: people invest in stocks or gold, and I invest in my wardrobe.
Woman.ru: How do you feel about criticism?
Y.R.:
When readers of popular sites criticize me, I want to say: “My friends! Have children, work 24 hours a day and at the same time try to look like me!” Who are the judges? I want to look at them.
I treat criticism absolutely normally when it is voiced by people who understand fashion.
I advise idlers to first do something useful instead of criticizing. For example, in my entire life I have not written a single comment on a website and I am proud of it. If I like how someone I know is dressed, I, of course, can happily write a comment on Instagram or give a compliment to the person in person, but I would never even think about sending an impulse of evil, negativity or disdain. Because everything in life comes back. It seems to me that the Woman.ru website is aimed at the right female audience - kind, beautiful, interesting. Personally, I am always for positive, strong and successful women.
Woman.ru: What will you definitely never wear? Is there such a thing? Maybe the style of a certain brand is not close to you?
Y.R.:
Previously, I didn’t take Russian designers seriously. And then the A la Russe brand appeared, and Nastya Romantsova (the owner and creative director of the brand - woman.ru) found an approach to me. Now I’m looking at Sveta Bondarchuk and catching myself thinking that I want dresses from Sasha Terekhov’s new collection. So it’s hard to say what I would never wear. Probably something really ugly...
Woman.ru: Well, for example, things with leopard print and rhinestones at the same time?
Y.R.:
I am very relaxed about rhinestones - they are appropriate, but in reasonable quantities and on special occasions. Although, perhaps, yes... leopard shoes. I didn’t and don’t have a single pair, even when leopard print was trendy. I don't see myself in them. I prefer Chanel ballet flats or pointed-toe Manolo Blahnik mid-heeled pumps, in which you can literally flit around 24 hours a day.
Woman.ru: Who, besides the already mentioned Svetlana Bondarchuk, can you call the most stylish stars?
Y.R.:
I really like the way Miroslava Duma dresses. But if she only lives by this, then it is clear that the person has amazing taste. Ulyana Sergeenko sees herself in a very interesting style. Perhaps also Lena Perminova and Natasha Vodianova, but models with their height and figure find it much easier to dress well than other women! Among our it girls I would also like to highlight Snezhana Georgieva and Sveta Zakharova, and among Western celebrities - Anna Dello Russo. I believe that this is a person from whom you can follow an example. I personally know and love Goga Ashkenazi very much, she has amazing taste.
Woman.ru: It often happens that stars appear at events in identical outfits - how do you react if something like this happens?
Y.R.:
Oddly enough, this doesn't usually happen to me. Although once a few years ago, getting out of the car on the way to an event, I saw a famous lady wearing the same Dolce&Gabbana dress and shoes as mine! This was the look from the show. Fortunately, all this happened not far from my house, so I went and changed clothes.
Woman.ru: So you won’t post joint photos with funny comments on Instagram in such situations?
Y.R.:
No, I'll rather change clothes.
Woman.ru: Do you select things for your husband (Evgeni Plushenko - approx. Woman.ru) and children? How does this process happen?
Y.R.:
Yes, definitely. It’s easier with Evgeniy, he loves sports style - for example, things from the Ralph Lauren brand. When it comes to classics, a Saint Laurent Paris or Tom Ford suit is always a win-win option.
We usually go shopping together, so it would be strange to buy things for me and not buy anything for Evgeniy and the children.
Taking into account my discounts and long-standing relationships with brands, the prices for things are very loyal as a result. Recently, I brought Ralph Lauren from Mexico to everyone, from Gnome Gnomych (the youngest son of Rudkovskaya and Plushenko, Alexander - approx. Woman.ru) and ending with Zhenya. Many models differ only in size and shades - both boys and Zhenya wear such things with pleasure.
Woman.ru: What is your must-have list for the fall-winter season 2013/14?
Y.R.:
Dior is always present in my life - from accessories to evening dresses. I have a lot of Dior suits for next season - Raf Simons went through the archives and made a collection based on sketches from 1947, and it’s so beautiful! But Dior needs to be mixed, because the total look can look “heavy”. By the way, about more democratic lines - I really love Miu Miu. Another passion of mine for next fall and winter is Valentino outfits. The brand has created an ambitious collection. Very expensive, really, but Dior, Dolce&Gabbana and Valentino are what I will definitely wear in the coming season.
Woman.ru: And finally, can you give some fashion tips to our readers? What advice do you give to girls who are going to the store?
Y.R.:
- 1 Accessories, especially bags, need to be purchased so that you can wear them for a very long time. It might be better to have one bag, two, three, four, but they are “eternal.” Lady Dior or classic models from Chanel and Hermes. Years go by, but the classics never get old. The style and color scheme change, but the shape remains forever. By the way, you can give such bags to your daughter, who will then flaunt the vintage and will probably thank you.
- 2 Dresses. You should never look at your friends. Because then they will buy exactly what you have. This is the law. Dresses are the most important thing in a woman’s wardrobe; they distinguish us from men. Men wear trousers, shorts and even skirts! But, thank God, it hasn’t come to dresses yet. That's why, for example, 80% of my wardrobe consists of dresses.
- 3 Shoes. It is better to buy classics and a sharp nose. A sharp nose will remain relevant for at least three more years. In addition, this model always lengthens the legs. Lately, by the way, I have become afraid of very high heels, but 9 cm is a height that you don’t get tired of.
And most importantly, I can say from experience: a man always pays attention to his bag and shoes. He may not remember the dress, shorts, or anything else, but he will definitely remember the bag and shoes. Therefore, you should not save on them.
