Galina Polskikh receives emergency assistance in Moscow

Galina Polskikh. Under the mask of happiness

After the release of the film “Wild Dog Dingo”, where Polskikh played a 14-year-old wayward girl, all the boys in the Soviet Union fell in love with her. But Galina played 8th grader Tanya at the age of 20... The actress was not approved for the role of a teenage girl for a long time by the artistic council. But director Yuli Karasik, who managed to discern the main features of his heroine in the funny student, was unshakable. He was sure that no one would play this role better than the Polish ones. Karasik did not change his opinion even after frequent disputes with the actress. In the film, Galina Polskikh recalls: “We even fought with him. He sees it this way, but I feel completely differently in my soul. And we have already agreed that we will film two different takes. And my options always turned out to be the best and won.”

Actresses Maria Aronova and Larisa Luzhina claim that it is only in appearance that Polskikh seems fragile and defenseless. In fact, in a feminine and soft shell there is a very powerful inner core. According to the actress herself, Tanya’s role in her life might not have existed. After Polskikh accidentally saw herself on the screen, shocked, she ran away from the set. The director's assistants caught Galina already at the station and with difficulty persuaded her to return to the set... What was the fate of the young artist Talas Umurzakov, who played the role of Filka? What did Galina and Talas say to each other when they met decades later? Why did director Georgy Danelia ignore the Polskikhs during the filming of the film “I Walk Through Moscow”?

Galina Polskikh lost her parents early. Her father died during the war, and when the girl was 5 years old, her mother also died. So Galya was raised by her grandmother Efrosinya Andrianovna. Despite her love for her granddaughter, the grandmother never coddled her. But this kind of Spartan upbringing subsequently helped Galina more than once in life. Moreover, Polskikh is sure that she might not have existed as an artist if not for her grandmother. It was for her sake that the girl once decided to enroll in VGIK: “I thought actresses lived richly. If I become an actress, oh, we’ll live together! Oh, then I’ll buy everything for grandma - candy, and dress her, and so that she can rest with me and not work. And someone pushed me directly into this trolleybus.”

That same trolleybus brought Galya to the walls of VGIK. The admissions committee liked the girl and was enrolled in a course with Mikhail Romm. And soon Polskikh married a third-year student at the directing department, Faik Hasanov, and gave birth to a daughter, Irada. Irada Polskikh talks about her parents like this: “It was definitely first love - bright, pure and beautiful... Mom remembers very warmly about this relationship, about this time when they lived together, when they were young, young, a beautiful couple...”

After maternity leave, the actress returned to the institute for the star course of Tamara Makarova and Sergei Gerasimov. Zhanna Bolotova, Zhanna Prokhorenko, Larisa Luzhina, Sergei Nikonenko studied with her. Many said that Gerasimov was in love with a student. Polskikh herself recalls it this way: “Once on the set of “The Journalist,” Gerasimov came to my room and said: “Galyukh, it turns out that your grandmother raised you? How did we not know that there was such a girl and she needed help? And Tamara Fedorovna and I would adopt you. Can you imagine what you would be like with us?” And they didn't have children. And for some reason he kept stroking my face and saying: “You are my Easter egg.” That's what he said. And so - no, no, no..."

Misfortune befell Polsky during her filming of the film “The Journalist.” First, she buried her beloved grandmother, and a week later her husband tragically died in Odessa. Two years later, on the set of the film “The Ballad of the Commissar,” Galina began, in her words, a “resort romance” with the director of the film, Alexander Surin, which, unexpectedly for the actress, ended in marriage. The couple had a daughter, Masha... How did the divorce from her second husband affect the actress’s career? Who saved Galina Polskikh's family from hunger during the difficult years of perestroika by handing over parcels with buckwheat, rice and jars of pickles? Why did the actress hit young Dmitry Maryanov on the back with a whip? You will learn about all this from the documentary film “Galina Polskikh. Under the mask of happiness."

“I blame myself for what happened,” Galina Polskikh openly about the tragedy with her grandson

“I blame myself for what happened,” Galina Polskikh openly about the tragedy with her grandsonPhoto: globallookpress.com Talent, popularity and a stellar career have never protected anyone from misfortune. Especially if trouble happens to loved ones. The famous actress Galina Polskikh ended up in an orphanage at the age of 8, and then she was raised by her grandmother. That is why her own grandson became a real light in the window for the artist. But when, several years after the death of her beloved husband, he almost went to the next world, it became a real blow for Galina Alexandrovna.

Philip loved motorcycles very much, not just racing them, he was educated as an engineer and wanted to devote his life to designing new models of bikes. But one day a 19-year-old guy lost control and crashed into a bump stop. The impact crushed his left leg. “I ran up to him, he had a bag on his shoulder, tore it off and tied his leg with a strap and held it with both hands until the doctors arrived, so I could neither call nor let go, blood was gushing from the wound like a fountain, for 10 minutes they drove past us drivers, they slowed down, but none of them stopped. Fortunately, the ambulance was driving by, the doctors quickly and competently provided first aid and took him to the hospital,” said Philip’s friend Nikolai, who was riding next to him.

Then my grandmother and mother immediately arrived at the hospital. After a long conversation with the doctor, it turned out that the guy would live, but his leg would have to be amputated. “I blame myself for what happened. Even then, his friends said that the wheel was acting up. Well, nothing: the main thing is that he’s alive! We’ll cope somehow,” Galina Polskikh said immediately after the accident.

And the family managed, not without the help of loyal friends, motorcyclists, who donated blood for Philip. Doctors spent several months fighting for the guy’s health. And those close to him inspired the guy: “Everything will be fine, and he will even ride the iron horse again!” And only a year later, when he got behind the wheel of a motorcycle again, the actress’s grandson realized that life was getting better. And Galina Polskikh continues to act in films, but family is the main thing for her. “Let the youth wait for something. I just work as best I can, help my family. “And now I live in memories,” the actress modestly asserts.

Personal life

Galina Polskikh got married for the first time when she was still a student at VGIK. The actress's husband was Faik Hasanov, a student of the directing department. Soon a daughter, Irada, appeared in the family; Galina had to interrupt her education for a while. But in 1965, Hasanov died tragically in Yalta, where he was filming another movie, after falling under the wheels of a tram.

After 2 years, the actress married director Alexander Surin again, whom she met on the set of the film “The Ballad of the Commissioner.” This marriage lasted a year, but Polskikh managed to give birth to a second daughter, Maria.

According to Galina Alexandrovna, she is used to relying only on her own strength. Since childhood, the future actress learned to be independent and also tried to solve any problems herself. Husbands, fortunately, never opposed the Polish desire for freedom in making specific decisions.

The daughters of the famous actress always admired their mother’s acting talent, but they were jealous of the profession and were hostile to the advances of fans and colleagues. For this reason, Polskikh broke off relationships with men more than once.

The Polish's favorite dish is pasta, but flour products are rarely included in the diet; the movie star watches her figure, so she chooses fish. The film actress's hobby is gardening. At her dacha in the Mosfilm village, a woman spends her free time reading books by Anton Chekhov or Fyodor Dostoevsky. He doesn’t accept modern authors like Alexandra Marinina or Daria Dontsova.

In 2020, the film crew of the “Ideal Repair” program visited Galina. To surprise the theater and film star, the hosts took the actress to a cosmetologist for anti-aging procedures. When the woman appeared at the dacha, where the hands of craftsmen, under the supervision of television experts, had adapted the room for her grandson, the Polskikhs were not recognized. In April 2018, actress Alexandra Ursulyak posted a photo of her older colleague on Instagram. Followers suspected the prettier Galina of having plastic surgery on her face. Cosmetologists felt that it could not have happened without blepharoplasty, Botox and fillers. While some admired the updated appearance of the Polskis, others noted with disappointment that in an attempt to erase age-related changes from her face, the artist lost herself. The actress faced many trials. The meaning of life for Galina Alexandrovna was her grandson Philip. Until he was 5 years old, she raised the boy herself. Daughter Maria married a Lebanese citizen, then the child was taken to Beirut, and he lived there with his parents until 5th grade, then the family returned to Russia. In 2011, Philip had a misfortune - he got into an accident on a motorcycle, and the impact actually tore off his leg, which doctors later amputated. His studies at the University of London, where the young man entered before the accident, had to be postponed.
