The idea of changing your appearance comes up quite often. And one of the options for a fresh accent to your appearance is earlobe piercing. New earrings – and a “zest” appears in the appearance. And this is not only a female beauty accessory, men also do not refuse “exclusive” in at least one ear. Usually the piercing procedure goes smoothly, but what should you do if your ear becomes inflamed after the piercing ?
- Possible causes of inflammation
- How to treat the lobe and cartilage after piercing
- Problems or complications after ear piercing
- Turned blue
- The lymph node is inflamed
- A hematoma has occurred
- Swollen ear
Possible causes of inflammation
After the piercing procedure, it is normal to experience inflammation, slight redness and swelling. When a puncture occurs, the integrity of the skin, subcutaneous and fatty layers is violated, and local immunity reacts to this with a characteristic reaction. Problems arise if the wound is infected. If your earlobe becomes inflamed after a piercing, then you should look for the cause:
- Using poorly processed, unsterile instruments
- Inserting earrings without washing hands
- Irritation from earrings made from low-quality material (nickel, iron) or from an allergy to a specific material. Frequent change of earrings made from different materials
- Injury to the puncture site
- Replacing the earring or removing it completely when the wound has not yet healed sufficiently
- The habit of frequently “pulling” the earring, causing additional injuries
- Visiting baths and saunas, swimming in dirty ponds when the wound has not yet healed
Note: The ear has a fragile structure and complex organization. The puncture site can become inflamed several years after it is performed. In an advanced situation, the tissues of the ear are damaged, fever begins, and scars appear. Timely consultation with a doctor will save you from such negative consequences.
The most common causes of inflammation of ear piercings are poor quality jewelry, poor regular care and injury; I would even say this is a classic of all types of piercings.
Products mentioned in the article
Studex ear piercing gun
Amidine aqua, spray for disinfection of mesoscooters, 90 ml
STUDEX ear needle earrings, 1 pair
Care instructions after piercing the ear with a catheter needle (cartilage piercing)
- Do not remove the earrings for 4 weeks.
- In the first 3 days after cartilage puncture, refrain from visiting the pool, bathhouse, or swimming in reservoirs.
- Every day, morning and evening, for 4 weeks, treat the puncture site with a special antiseptic or chlorhexidine digluconate. The product must be applied so that it reaches the needle entry and exit points, as well as into the canal. During processing, it is necessary to scroll the earring and move it in the channel.
- You cannot treat the puncture site with alcohol - tissue burns may occur.
- After a shower, sports activities, baths and swimming, treat the puncture site additionally.
- After 4 weeks, you can remove the needle earrings and exchange them for other piercing jewelry.
- If redness, swelling around the earring, pain or discharge occurs, you should immediately remove the jewelry and contact the specialist who performed the piercing.
How to treat a lobe or cartilage to cure a puncture
To cure an ear piercing, just change the piercing and start treating it correctly. As mentioned above, one of the reasons is poor-quality primary jewelry, especially often jewelry from a piercing gun is the cause of complications.
If ear treatment does not lead to the desired result, then you need to buy a new primary decoration, miramistin and saline solution
The main problem is to understand why it all started, since by getting rid of the cause we will solve the problem. If you are sure that the reason is not decoration, then regular high-quality processing will be enough.
Miramistin is an anti-inflammatory agent and has a local immunoadjuvant effect. Although it is so beautiful, it has a pitfall, namely, if you treat it exclusively for 14 days, you will get desbacteriosis, so alternate it with saline solution and your microflora will be fine.
A small step-by-step instruction to definitely cure your earlobes:
- Immerse new primary jewelry in antiseptic for disinfection (for about an hour)
- Wear medical gloves
- Remove the old decoration and start washing the perforation with an antiseptic and insert a new decoration
- Until complete healing, rinse at least once a day with an antiseptic and saline solution.
It is extremely important not to deviate from the schedule in order to completely destroy the bacterial infection and prevent re-infection, since even a small amount of bacterial microflora will cause inflammation and protracted treatment.
Error when punching a channel
Sometimes a woman's ears hurt from wearing gold earrings. What to do in such a situation? If there is a clear understanding that this is not an allergic reaction to a noble metal, which generally happens quite rarely, then perhaps the whole point is that the channel was initially punched incorrectly.
The soft tissue of the earlobe contains few nerves and important vessels, but they are still there. And if the channel hits one of them, the painful sensations will persist even after its formation. They are usually not accompanied by inflammation and swelling, but create discomfort.

The only way out in this situation is to overgrow the canal and re-pierce it in another place.
Problems or complications after ear piercing
Traditional ear piercing procedures can result in serious problems. Dirty hands, insufficiently disinfected instruments or poor-quality decoration leads to:
- Blood poisoning
- Allergic manifestations
- HIV or hepatitis disease
- Formation of keloid scars
- to purulent and mucous secretions
There are points on the human body that are responsible for the functioning of specific organs. If they are touched during piercing, a number of metabolic processes in the body may be disrupted. And this is all a terrible mess and you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it. Most likely the decoration is simply not of good quality or you have touched a wound.
Important! Delayed treatment leads to a general inflammatory process. Because of this, general well-being worsens. Dizziness and nausea occur. The person loses his appetite, sleeps poorly, and feels acute pain in the head and temples.
After the piercing my ear turned blue
The consequences of ear piercing can be local. For example, the hearing organ turned blue. This is due to the needle (gun) entering the vessel. It bursts and a bruise occurs as a result of subcutaneous bleeding. 3-5 days are enough for it to go away on its own.
Why your favorite earrings hurt your ears: internal factors
Only a doctor can explain where the pain comes from. Most likely, this is how the body reacts to certain changes in it. For example, your ears may begin to hurt due to hormonal changes. Such disorders can occur during pregnancy, after childbirth, during menopause, or after significant weight loss. The body can also experience hormonal changes due to diseases of the internal organs: ovaries, adrenal glands, thyroid gland.
Due to the fact that hormonal levels are disrupted, allergic reactions . Pain when wearing earrings is one of the allergic manifestations.
As you know, in this case, the most important rule of treatment is to limit contact with the allergen. That is, your favorite earrings will have to be removed and put into a jewelry box until the main cause of the discomfort is clear.
Most often, allergies are caused by simple metals. But it also happens that your ears hurt from silver earrings or gold items. Very often, the appearance of pain in earlobe piercings is provoked by some external influences.
What to do if a child’s earlobe is inflamed
Attention! The text below is taken from the public domain for review and can harm you if you use everything. To cure inflamed ears from a piercing, you need to use these instructions described above
Children's earlobes are pierced in three different ways, one of which is chosen by the parents. After this, home care of the wound site using disinfectants is important for three days. If a child’s ear becomes inflamed after a puncture, then first aid measures are as follows:
- For redness and swelling of the earlobes, use a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Several times a day they wash the problem area, moving the earring. Gradually the swelling subsides. If necessary, use antibacterial ointments: Celestoderm, Levomekol, tetracycline ointment. For severe pain, children are given ibuprofen or paracetamol in an age-appropriate dosage.
- If bleeding continues for several days or even weeks, you should be wary. Usually, after a puncture, liquid (ichor) runs out, and the appearance of blood is possible for various reasons (one of them is injury to the vessel during puncture and the development of hyperemia). The earring will have to be removed and the wound treated with an antiseptic.
- When suppuration occurs, treating the problem area with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide helps. Celestoderm, zinc ointment, helps a lot. From the folk arsenal, aloe juice, tea tree oil, calendula tincture, and sea salt solution come to the rescue.
Note: If after 7-10 days the problem is not solved and the inflammation continues to develop, then home treatment should be replaced with therapeutic treatment by consulting a doctor. Repeated puncture is allowed only after 2-3 months.
What are the possible consequences of piercing a child’s ears?
Most often, negative consequences of ear piercing occur due to premature cessation of piercing care. This is not an uncommon situation when wounds are healing quickly - if the holes have healed in 1 week, you need to continue to follow the specialist’s recommendations for another 3 weeks.
After ear piercing, the following complications may occur:
- redness of the skin of the ear;
- increase in general body temperature;
- swelling of the earlobe and the entire ear;
- discharge from the hole of various types;
- the appearance of cones.
For the most part, these manifestations are the result of infection in the wound surface. Each of the complications has its own characteristic manifestations. Hyperemia, otherwise redness, occurs due to the overflow of blood vessels close to the opening. The lobe increases in size and begins to hurt.
Swelling is a normal manifestation on day 1, maximum on day 2. Discharge is also normal, since during this period it is represented by lymphatic fluid. But when the discharge changes its character to purulent or blood oozes with an unpleasant odor, you need to consult a doctor - these are signs of infection. When the infection is severe, swelling can affect not only the ear but also spread to the neck, beginning to compress the breathing passages.
The bumps are expressed by a strong compaction of the tissues around the hole, which, when touched, causes intense pain. It can be a keloid scar or atheroma, colloquially - a wen. But, if liquid with purulent or bloody inclusions is released from the lump, then this is evidence of a serious inflammatory process due to injury to the blood vessel or the presence of infection.
When these manifestations are not given attention, the child may develop the following negative conditions:
- tissue rupture with loss of earrings - subsequent suppuration;
- facial nerve palsy;
- development of a severe allergic reaction;
- development of serious inflammatory processes;
- pseudo-hearing loss - due to excessive size of jewelry;
- deformation of the ear concha;
- the occurrence of a benign tumor process.
To prevent such consequences, it is necessary to closely monitor the child’s condition after the procedure. If complications are suspected, you should seek medical help.
Reviews about the consequences
Reviews on the forums are numerous and very contradictory. For some, the procedure did not cause negative consequences or negativity, while others were sick for a long time and tried a lot of medications and visits to doctors to return their ears to their original appearance. First things first.
Consequences of ear piercing in children
Veronica, mother of a 4-year-old daughter: My daughter dreamed, she simply dreamed of earrings, and I decided to give the little one a surprise for her birthday. I got a puncture done with a gun at an expensive beauty salon. Pre-selected silver earrings were inserted. By evening, my daughter’s temperature rose and a slight swelling and redness appeared. I fulfilled all the requirements of the cosmetologist, but the treatment took a month. I had to give up an expensive accessory.
Cause
The problems were due to the fact that there was no primary decoration.
Consequences of being pierced by a pistol
Oksana, 24 years old: I dreamed of it for a long time, but did not dare to undergo a puncture procedure. A puncture with a pistol is almost unnoticeable, but it injures the tissue more severely, since it is carried out abruptly. The ears turned red, and after a few days purulent discharge appeared. I washed it with peroxide, potassium permanganate, and used antibacterial ointments. Ear piercing has become a real problem. But beauty requires sacrifice. If I were offered this procedure today, I would refuse.
Cause
Most likely due to the fact that they treated everyone.
Consequences of ear piercing at home
Marina, 18 years old: A friend pierced my ears using a regular sewing needle. She said the gun would damage the cartilage. She disinfected the needle in alcohol, drew dots on the ear cartilage, and began “sadistic actions.” The punctures are quite painful, but can be tolerated. I put in gold earrings. The ears became swollen and bruises appeared at the injection sites. The earrings were already in the earrings, so the set of several pieces of jewelry looked chic. The punctures did not heal well, but I went through everything for the sake of beauty.
Cause
A sewing puncture that widens towards the center, which means it tears the ear and, just like in the first case, there was no primary decoration.

To this day, wearing earrings does not become old-fashioned, but, on the contrary, thanks to the huge variety of jewelry, it always corresponds to fashion trends. Currently, earrings are mostly worn by women and girls, less often by men, sometimes both have several punctures. In adults, piercing causes some fear and they wonder how long it will take for ear piercing to heal. Thanks to established modern methods, earlobe piercing is a very easy operation. And if it is carried out professionally, then the healing of the wound at the puncture site will take place quite quickly.

How long does it take for wounds to heal?
The healing time of wounds depends on the proper implementation of the piercing process. No matter how advanced modern methods of ear piercing are, even with the help of a special gun, the risk of introducing an infection into the wound is very high.

A little history
It turns out that earrings were originally invented for men. Even 7000 years ago they were made in ancient Asia. In Assyria and Egypt, wearing such jewelry meant high status. In Rome, such a person was a slave. Well, Cossacks still wear earrings, which only means that the man is the breadwinner and successor of the family. In the Middle Ages, it was believed that women’s jewelry had “amulet” properties, first for little boys, then for teenagers. Earrings protected children from evil spirits.
Is men's jewelry appropriate?
In terms of jewelry, there is now no division between men and women; not only earrings, but also chains, bracelets and rings are produced for both women and men in almost equal volumes. You can tell a lot about a person by the number of punctures. Piercing in men and the location of holes in the ear have a different meaning than the designations adopted to describe the character of women.

I don't know which section to write in. At the beginning of June, I pierced the child’s ears (she really asked for it). They still haven’t healed, one ear festers, then the other. Everything seemed to be fine, but we went to a sanatorium for a week to relax, and there was a swimming pool, we went every day, the water was quite cool, and after that the problems began. Yesterday I took off the earrings that were put on at the cosmetics office and put on gold ones (it’s just that my ears only accept gold, maybe hers does too). Wipe with chlorhexedine, vodka, boric alcohol, peroxide. Maybe someone else can advise what I can use to anoint my ears? Or should I take it off and let it grow over?
PS: those who are against piercing a child’s ears, please pass by with your comments. I'm asking for real...

Ear piercing
Ear piercing has been known since ancient times, especially among the peoples of Africa and Asia. Many tribes in Asia, Africa and the Middle East had a whole ritual of piercing the ears of men and girls.
Tribute to tradition
The number of earrings and rings for men indicated their social status, the number of victories in wars and on the love front.
The whole ritual of ear piercing and lifelong wearing of earrings in the ear took place among men associated with the sea. It was believed that an earring in a sailor's ear improves vision, which is very important for him. And even during shipwrecks, if the corpse of a sailor washes up on the shore, the earring served as a valuable item that was used to pay for the burial.
For women, they signified puberty and readiness for family life. It was also believed that earrings in the ears of pregnant women would scare away evil spirits who were waiting for the birth of a little man to move into him.
Nowadays, ear piercing has become not a tribute to some traditions, but a fashion...

I pierced my eldest daughter's ears with a pistol when she was three years old. In my presence, this whole structure and studs were treated with an antiseptic, my daughter didn’t even squeak, she gave me a second ear without a second thought. my ears didn’t hurt, I treated them three times a day with an antiseptic given there (something spir, bluish) and plain peroxide. It healed in a week, and 10 days after the piercing I changed my gold earrings. To avoid any snags, I bought rings - there was simply nothing to catch on. I plan to get my youngest's ears pierced at the same age.
Natasha, why did I ask about hepatitis? Any kind of alcohol does not completely kill the virus; to kill it completely, the device must be boiled for some time, and the gun cannot be treated in this way, so there is a risk of infection, because the gun still comes into contact with human blood and can be transmitted. The virus, even in a dried smear of blood, remains active for a week.

Ear piercings have always been popular. Many parents like it when their child looks beautiful and fashionable. Since ancient times, Europeans have pierced the ears of women, but in the modern world, ear piercings are performed on both sexes.
Before you get your ears pierced
Some parents leave the choice in deciding such an issue as ear piercing to the children themselves. But there are quite a few of them.
Most people want to see their babies beautiful. And few of them think that ear piercings require specific care.
The presence of an earring in the ear will attract the attention of not only others, but also the child himself. He will begin to touch the earring, thus disturbing the wound.
Many experts do not recommend piercing children's ears at an early age (up to 3 years). But according to studies, it has been established that when the ears are pierced at the age of more than 11 years, the likelihood of keloid scars at the puncture site increases.

According to experts, ears heal on average about two weeks after a piercing. This period may vary depending on age, immunity, proper processing, contraindications. Problems arise if a person is allergic to metals, skin or blood diseases, or endocrine disorders.
Seeing a doctor should be mandatory if:
- redness appeared at the puncture site;
earlobes are swollen;
pus is released from the wounds.
Such symptoms indicate the penetration of infection, and any delay can negatively affect the general condition of the child or adult.
Even if the puncture sites heal in record time, treatment should not be stopped for a month. You need to carry out simple manipulations:
- On the second day after the piercing and thereafter, the earring in the ear is scrolled several times. Hand hygiene is mandatory;
The wound is thoroughly wiped with hydrogen peroxide in the morning and before bed. For an adult, you can use alcohol;
ears are treated after each time dirt or water gets into them;
The earrings are removed after a month, after wiping the puncture site and the jewelry themselves with peroxide. After waiting a couple of hours, they are put back on.
There is an alternative to numerous daily actions - applying medical glue to the site of a fresh wound. The substance is left until it gradually disappears on its own. With this method, no additional processing is needed.
If a puncture in the ear does not heal, consult a doctor for recommendations. Medicine usually solves this problem by repeatedly rubbing the inflamed area with hydrogen peroxide (about 10), washing it with a weak solution of potassium permanganate; in difficult cases, local medications are prescribed. Applying a thin layer of anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial creams twice daily ensures good healing.
Only by enlisting the support of a specialist can you achieve the desired effect without endangering your health. Self-medication, especially when it comes to a child, leads to dangerous situations and forced surgical interventions.
Hi all
,
Today I’ll tell you about piercing and caring for it, as well as show and explain everything. I’ll tell you about the pistol that is used to pierce a lot of things, its disadvantages, and I’ll also tell you specifically about each of my punctures.
But first, a preamble
______________________
Piercing
- a thing that is not to everyone’s taste, but many, including me, like it. I consider this nothing more than decoration, although (!) something can help you with your health, you will find out later. Please, if you don’t like piercings, don’t lecture me about how bad it is. For example, earrings are for me, just like rings or necklaces are for you. I consider it the same accessory.
______________________
Now about my piercing history in order.
1, 2. Around 8-9 years old, I mentally matured for the first holes in my ears
, my mother and I went to the salon and there they pierced my ears with a pistol. It didn’t hurt at all (but I cried so my mom would buy me a hematogen), they healed in no more than a couple of weeks, all I did was treat them with Chlorhexidine and twist them.
Well, this is my assistant. Now I’ll explain to those who don’t know anything about this slurry. This is an antiseptic, it just disinfects our wound, it should not be confused with peroxide, which, by the way, I also sometimes used. And here she comes
Although diluted solutions of hydrogen peroxide are used for small superficial wounds, research has shown that this method, while providing an antiseptic effect and cleansing, also prolongs healing time. While hydrogen peroxide has good cleansing properties, it does not actually speed up wound healing. Sufficiently high concentrations to provide an antiseptic effect may also prolong healing time due to damage to cells adjacent to the wound. Moreover, hydrogen peroxide can interfere with healing and promote scarring by destroying newly formed skin cells.
Hydrogen peroxide is also an antiseptic, but it is much weaker, it also causes blood clotting, but the main thing we need it for is cleansing. Now let me clarify a little
IMPORTANT
Hydrogen peroxide can only be used on ear piercings. No more. It slows down the healing process.
So, we've dealt with the past, now let's move on to the more immediate.
Ten years after my first piercing, I decided to get a second one. More precisely, I decided...circumstances forced me. Obviously not everyone will like this piercing, so you can stop reading and scroll a little further to ear piercings.
3. I pierced my nipple.
Yes indeed. Yes, just one. The reason for this is the sunken shape (if you are interested, google it, I won’t explain) it is either surgery or piercing, I chose the second and the problem was successfully resolved. At the salon they gave me this reminder, if you are interested, read it
“inhale-exhale” and the catheter went in, “inhale-exhale” and the earring was in place. For obvious reasons, I will not upload the photo.
________________
By the way, I mentioned the word “catheter”; to put it simply, it’s a special needle. I think it’s time to tell you why it’s better to pierce with a needle than with a gun (although, of course, I understand that you can’t pierce a nipple with a gun, but I’m talking in general about all piercings):
1. The needle does not tear the tissue around it, but the gun, unfortunately, does, because the needle seems to cut through the skin, while the gun digs into it with its blunt end and simply breaks a hole. The consequence is a long healing time.
2. The needle is completely sterile, but in the second option only the earrings are sterile, and that’s not a fact.
3. They prick with a needle accurately, with a pistol at random, even the most experienced master will not be able to guess how the pistol will make a hole.
4. Usually a gun is given into the hands of those who are completely unrelated to medicine and pretend that it is necessary.
Please go to salons where the piercers are medically trained and the room is sanitary.
Now about the healing of this place with whims:
It hurt for the first 2 days, then it stopped, YOU CAN’T TURN THE EARRING FOR THE FIRST 2-3 WEEKS EXACTLY! IF YOU MOVE, DO IT FORWARD AND BACK AND CAREFULLY WITH CLEAN HANDS!
Got sick again 3 weeks later due to being a little hooked. The lymph flowed for the first 3 days only.
How I looked after
Here's everything I used to care for ALL my piercings:
For this place I only used sodium chloride
(in common parlance, saline solution) and
chlorhexidine
(or miramistin, it doesn’t matter). The most important thing was to clean the puncture twice a day. To do this, I took a lid, poured saline into it and completely immersed the puncture site there along with the earring. I kept it like this for 2-5 minutes, then washed it with water. When it had healed a little, I washed it with soapy water. Throughout the day I wiped it all the time with a cotton swab soaked in chlorhexidine.
The important thing is that many people write that you need to wear the patch everywhere. NO! NO NEED! You need to let air penetrate so that it heals faster. For the first month at home, we absolutely always wear a loose T-shirt and, of course, without a band-aid. Go outside without it, too, and only when there is a 100% chance of strong friction or that you will snag it, apply an adhesive plaster, making sure it allows air to pass through.
It seems that these are all nuances, this puncture healed completely after 1.5 months, the earring cannot be removed after that for another 2 months for sure, or go to the salon.
4,5
.11 days after the previous piercing, out of the blue, I went and
made 2 holes in my ear
, it began to look like this:
I haven’t slept on this side for about a month and a half. The lower hole took no more than 3 weeks to heal, but the upper one took about a month and a half. I took care of it the same way as I did for my earlobes, nothing new, except that I didn’t use peroxide. The first time I took off my earrings was a month later. It was painful, but I disinfected everything, and that’s why I filmed it. After 1.5 months it was no longer painful. Sometimes I take them off to clean them. Nothing special here.
6. I was foolishly impatient to pierce my belly button.
This happened 2 weeks after the ear. I went to my already favorite salon and they pierced it for me. I admit, it was a little painful, except for the navel, the entire piercing was painless, then it was as if I had been bitten by a large mosquito, it didn’t hurt too much, I didn’t even squeak. But still the most memorable of the piercings) It heals difficult, it takes six months to a year to heal, I used mainly saline solution in my care. She lay down on her back, put a cotton swab on her navel and generously poured in sodium chloride, for the benefit it costs 50 rubles. I lay there like that, then washed it with water. Now I look - no, it’s not beautiful. The skin becomes thinner where the earring is, and it’s definitely not easy to gain weight with it
This is what this miracle looks like
You can find a couple more photos of this puncture in the review for the fasting day.
In general, I don’t advise you to pierce your navel. If someone really wants it, then yes, but if it’s like this, “oh, what should I pierce? maybe a belly button? no, not him. When there is a purpose in piercing the navel, yes, then it is possible. Please note that not even an experienced master will pierce it for you exactly, THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT, at least I don’t know a single person with an evenly pierced navel, all degrees are either 80 or 100 (based on the fact that the right angle is 90).
7, 8.
A month later, I decided to spontaneously pierce
an additional hole in my ear and cartilage - helix.
All this stuff looks like this
I chose inconspicuous earrings to play against the background of the screw that I have been wearing all the time for a long time.
Helix healing from 2 months
, it happens faster less often, mine is still healing, I already wrote about the additional hole. One of the inconveniences of the helix (or cartilage puncture, whichever is more convenient) is that it constantly clings to the hair, but if you insert a ring, there will be no such problems.
I treat it with chlorhexidine, just pour it on, holding the cotton wool to absorb it. In the evening I lie down on my back and pour saline solution onto the piercing, lie there for a little while (well, the ear is a comfortable shape - the edge holds the liquid) and wipe it with a cotton swab, I don’t really like rinsing it off with water, it’s not very convenient for me.
Let's sum it up
How long does it take to heal?
Ears
(lobes) - 2 weeks
Extra ears
3 weeks-1.5 months (depending on where)
Nipple
less than 1.5 months
Navel
more than 3 months, mostly from six months
Helix
from 2 months
About the prices, I live in Novosibirsk, in the salon where I get pierced (taking into account the earring made of surgical steel 200 rubles), navel - 900 rubles, nipple - 900 rubles, ears - 400-700 (depending on what).
The main thing is to take proper care of it and not paw it too much; after touching it with your hands, disinfect it.
Thanks for reading, I hope it helps someone, be beautiful and love yourself!
Nowadays, ear piercing has become not a tribute to some traditions, but a fashion that delights girls (of course, my friends have it, and I will too). Boys, in turn, think that this way they will stand out and look cooler.
Many mothers, in order to give a nice gift to their child, go to incredible expense when buying earrings, force their daughters to pierce their ears themselves, without going into detail about studying the piercing methods and their consequences, which can have a detrimental effect on the child’s health.
To understand this matter of ear piercing, you need to know:
- at what age is it better to get a puncture;
- piercing methods;
- proper puncture care;
- contraindications for puncture.
Piercing age
Doctors argue about age-related ear piercing all the time. Some say that it is better to pierce during infancy, because the baby does not feel pain, and the piercing heals faster. Others argue that before the age of three, such a procedure is not recommended at all.
Still others say that after 10-12 years it is better not to pierce the ears at all, since there are many zones (points) in the earlobes that are responsible for the vital functions of the body. By this age, they are already fully formed, so piercing your ears is simply dangerous.
Violation of these zones can lead to health problems. In any case, the choice is yours, and it is better to consult a doctor before deciding to get your ears pierced.
Piercing methods
Today, the types of ear piercings differ, except in the method of application. Previously, earlobe piercing occurred at home by disinfecting an ordinary needle or pin with an alcohol solution. Nowadays, ear piercing is carried out in a more civilized way.
Today, any pharmacy sells sterilely packaged, disposable puncture devices.
Beauty salons also took on this procedure, having in their arsenal special tools, such as a stapler-type gun that shoots through the earlobe quickly and painlessly, leaving behind special earrings for ear piercing.
The downside to these guns is that they are reusable.
How to treat ears after piercing?
Proper care of a puncture involves periodic treatment. If the wound becomes red, you should wash the earlobe several times a day with a solution of potassium permanganate until complete healing.
How long does it take for ears to heal after a piercing?
As a rule, after a piercing, the ears heal within a week, but if the ears do not heal or the ears fester after the piercing, you should definitely consult a doctor.
Contraindications to the procedure
