Permanent mascara - what is it?

A product such as permanent mascara is a safe product that is used to correct natural eyelashes. With this type of mascara you can achieve incredible results: visually lengthen hairs by 15%, make them thicker by 50%, and also recreate the natural and healthy curve of each eyelash.

In simple terms, the procedure for applying permanent mascara is something in between eyelash extensions and tinting them with ordinary mascara. This statement is true in the sense that the event is carried out only for your own, natural eyelashes, but the effect remains for a long time. Women who chose a permanent product were able to achieve an improvement in the visual condition of the hairs of the upper and lower eyelids without any difficulties and for a long time, giving up daily eye coloring.

The main advantage of the product is that it is very resistant to external mechanical influences. A girl with similar makeup can be sure that eyelash makeup will not let you down, since it can withstand the following influences:

  • tears;
  • salty sea or chlorinated pool water;
  • rain;
  • heat;
  • snow, etc.

Makeup will not be damaged even if you accidentally run your hand over your eyes, that is, the product will not smear or run. Such conditions make the procedure of applying permanent mascara simply irreplaceable in cases where the appearance must be perfect no matter what.

Semi-permanent mascara

Every woman knows what mascara is, but daily application and removal of makeup is not always convenient, and besides, not everyone naturally has the eyelashes that they would like to see. And here coloring, eyelash extensions and other means come into play.

One of the relatively new products that represents a good compromise between coloring and extensions is semi-permanent mascara.

What is semi-permanent mascara?

The main advantage of semi-permanent mascara is its durability. The length of time that such mascara stays on the eyelashes varies widely in various advertisements: from two to six weeks. But, as a rule, durability is limited to three weeks without loss of appearance. The composition includes coloring pigment, microvilli and special glue. The latter should not be confused with the glue used for eyelash extensions, since it is usually a means for gluing wounds and microcracks, used in medicine.

Semi-permanent mascara comes in two types: single-phase and three-phase. The first gives a more natural effect. When using the second one, more volume is achieved, but the eyelashes are harder, the visual effect is closer to extensions than to regular coloring.

Applying semi-permanent mascara

In general, coloring eyelashes with semi-permanent mascara is very close to using regular mascara, but requires up to 30-40 minutes of time and a number of preparatory procedures that are not necessary when applying regular mascara. Today, applying semi-permanent mascara to eyelashes is usually done in beauty salons, since it dries very quickly and you need to have time to separate the eyelashes with special tweezers so that they do not stick together. Therefore, without outside help, the result may be far from desired.

Apply this mascara in several stages to eyelashes that have been previously cleaned of other cosmetics.

  1. Special halogen pads are placed under the lower eyelid to separate the upper and lower eyelids. They also protect the skin under the eyes.
  2. A primer (degreaser) is applied to the upper eyelashes with a special brush.
  3. Using a brush, comb the eyelashes using a scrolling motion.
  4. Apply mascara to the inside of the eyelashes, from roots to ends, as quickly as possible so that the mascara does not have time to dry.
  5. Separate the eyelashes using tweezers.
  6. Apply mascara to the outer surface of the eyelashes and also separate with tweezers.
  7. Wait 2-3 minutes for the mascara to dry properly, after which, if necessary, repeat the procedure, applying a second layer of mascara.

After finishing the coloring of the upper eyelashes, the lower ones are painted according to the same scheme.

Rules for using semi-permanent mascara

  1. Do not touch your eyes for the first two hours after the procedure.
  2. Avoid contact with water, steam and mechanical impact on the eyelashes the first day after the procedure.
  3. Do not apply regular mascara over semi-permanent mascara and do not use an eyelash curler. To get beautifully curled eyelashes, you can combine semi-permanent mascara and bio-perm, but the latter should be done before applying mascara.
  4. Use only non-greasy cosmetics. Contact with oils causes the semi-permanent mascara to break down.
  5. To remove semi-permanent mascara, it is also better to go to a salon, since it cannot be removed with conventional makeup removers, and this can damage your eyelashes. To remove this mascara you need a special product.

Today, such brands of semi-permanent mascara as MYscara, Adele Sutton, Lovely are common. All of them are positioned as hypoallergenic, but before applying it is still worth checking the skin reaction first.

Permanent mascara application technology

As you know, the procedure for applying permanent mascara is carried out within the salons that provide the corresponding services. The event itself consists of several stages, which can be roughly divided into the preparatory part and the actual painting. A high-quality result can only be obtained if all rules and stages have been followed and correctly implemented.

First, the upper eyelashes are exposed; for this, a special protective pad consisting of hydrogel is applied to the lower eyelid. The pillow is applied in such a way that the hairs on the lower eyelid are completely hidden. Now a layer of primer is applied to the eyelashes - this is a means of removing dust, remaining cosmetic components, etc. from the surface of the eyelashes.

As part of the next stage, the protective element of the eyelid is carefully combed using a special brush. This is done in order to separate the eyelashes from each other and give them the correct shape and bend. When everything described above has been done, they move on to the process of distributing the mascara along the entire length of the hairs.

For coloring the lower eyelid, all of the above measures apply, but there is a slight difference. To draw the eyelashes of the lower eyelid, you should apply a protective pad so that it fits tightly behind the hairs, preventing the product from getting on the skin. Complete the procedure, preferably by combing the eyelashes again - this will remove excess volume of mascara and finally adjust the shape and degree of bend.

It must be remembered that while painting both the upper and lower eyelids, the eyes must remain closed.

When working with the eyelashes of the lower eyelid, the technician is allowed to slightly lift the upper eyelid with his fingers in order to have access to the hair roots for better application of the composition. It is also important that the product is applied to the eyelashes in several layers, with each subsequent layer covering the previous one only when it is completely dry.

Tips for caring for eyelashes at home

Each decorative event imposes certain kinds of prohibitions on the client, and permanent mascara is no exception. For the first time after completing the procedure, the client must adhere to the following list of rules:

  • it is important to prevent liquid from getting on the eyelashes in the first few hours after the procedure; on the first day, strong mechanical and temperature effects on the area around the eyes should be avoided (do not rub your eyes, do not visit the sauna, steam bath, and do not wash your face with very hot water);
  • During the entire period of wearing permanent mascara, you should avoid applying it over regular mascara, as well as using tools for curling and straightening eyelashes. Such influences will only harm the hairs, violating the given shape;
  • To remove makeup, you should not use greasy products or those containing plant essential extracts.

Caring for eyelashes colored with semi-permanent mascara

Eyelashes coated with semi-permanent mascara require special care. There are a number of rules that must be followed step by step so that the coloring effect lasts as long as possible and there are no negative consequences for the eyes. These rules are as follows:

  • Within 24 hours after applying semi-permanent mascara, eyelashes should not come into contact with water or cosmetics. This is necessary in order to allow the product to dry thoroughly, because any ingress of moisture can significantly spoil the work of the master;
  • For the same reason, do not touch your eyes for the first few hours after the procedure;
  • During the entire time that semi-permanent mascara is on your eyelashes, you should use products that do not contain any oils. Otherwise, the cosmetics will begin to partially wash off;
  • In order not to disrupt the integrity of the layer of semi-permanent mascara and not to harm the eyelashes, you should not tint them with regular mascara or curl them with special curlers.
  • There is no need to try to remove semi-permanent mascara yourself, as this must be done with a special product, step by step, so as not to damage the eyelashes. It is best to entrust this procedure to a professional.

How to remove permanent mascara

When a certain time passes, the paint on the eyelashes begins to wear off and the picture ceases to look attractive. For this reason, it is necessary to constantly repeat the procedure of covering the hairs of the eyelids with permanent mascara. But in order to apply new layers of paint, you need to get rid of the previous ones. The procedure for removing the composition should be carried out within the salons, just like the procedure for applying mascara.

To remove old layers, the master uses special solvents for professional eyelash care. All other products, except specialized ones, do not guarantee a successful result and can harm both the condition of the hairs and the eye.

Photos before and after the procedure

It is obvious that eyelashes that have been colored with permanent mascara look more aesthetically pleasing and attractive than eyelashes without any products. The salon option of coloring the hairs of the lower and upper eyelids using a special cosmetic product allows you to give your eyes more expressiveness and frankness.

Applying semi-permanent mascara to eyelashes

At first glance, it may seem that semi-permanent mascara is no different from the regular one that women are used to using in their daily makeup. If you consider only the appearance of the product, then this is true. Only the contents of the product and the method of applying it to the eyelashes differ. In general, this procedure takes 30-40 minutes.

The scheme for applying semi-permanent mascara is very simple, but, nevertheless, the master must adhere to strict instructions:

  1. If necessary, the eyes are cleaned of makeup.
  2. A special halogen patch is attached to the lower eyelid, which will serve as a separator between the lower and upper eyelids and also protect the skin under the eyes.
  3. A hair degreasing agent (primer) is applied to the upper eyelashes using a special brush.
  4. Eyelashes are combed well.
  5. Apply semi-permanent mascara to the inner surface of the eyelashes. This is done very quickly and carefully, in the direction from roots to tips, so that the product does not dry out before the specialist has time to distribute it evenly over each eyelash. Use tweezers to separate the stuck hairs.
  6. The outer surface of the eyelashes is covered with mascara and they are also separated using tweezers.
  7. For a more dramatic effect, you can apply a second layer of mascara. This should be done after 3 minutes. This time should be enough for the first layer to dry a little.
  8. The lower eyelashes are painted according to the same pattern. If the client’s eyelashes do not have a natural curve, then this procedure can be combined with bio-eyelash curling.

In case of any negative reaction of the skin around the eyes or the mucous membrane of the eye (tingling, tearing, itching), the staining procedure should be stopped.
