James Charles showed the consequences of beatings using makeup. But I had to apologize for such creativity

All women know that successful makeup can turn even the most inconspicuous of us into a real beauty.

However, many do not think about the fact that the same makeup, incorrectly chosen or applied, can completely ruin the impression.

Among the most common mistakes women make is forgetfulness. They lose sight of the fact that in order for cosmetics to look beautiful, it is necessary to take care of your face not occasionally, but daily and systematically.

What does regular skin care involve?

In the morning, you need to use a cleanser and apply a moisturizer and eye cream. After the cream is absorbed, that is, after 10-15 minutes, you can begin to apply decorative cosmetics.

In the evening, you need to carefully remove makeup with a special cleanser - milk, tonic or emulsion. Now it’s the turn of the nourishing cream and eye cream. Excess cream can be blotted off with a napkin after 15 minutes.

1-2 times a week you should pamper your face with masks. The choice of cosmetic masks today is extensive; every woman can choose the one that best suits her skin type.

If you take care of your skin, it will look matte and smooth, without red spots, pimples and blackheads. Now our task is not to spoil your appearance with unsuccessful makeup.

How not to use foundation

One of the fairly common mistakes when applying makeup is unprepared skin. After all, if it is excessively dry and insufficiently moisturized, as well as uncleaned, there is a risk that the base will lie unevenly - it will roll off in pellets.

Another mistake is choosing the wrong foundation color. The purpose of the tone is only to even out the skin tone and make it smoother and more natural. If the color is chosen incorrectly, then it is simply impossible to get into the makeup section without errors.

Excessive use of foundation perfectly masks imperfections. But at the same time, you should avoid massive use of cosmetics - applying several layers of foundation is not recommended. In addition, it is important to understand that a thick layer of makeup looks extremely cheap on the skin and indicates the lady’s untidiness.

It is recommended to apply foundation with special makeup brushes.

Tone

The modern cosmetics industry offers ever new products for the face. Every year, foundations and foundations become thinner and more invisible. And yet, some ladies try to build a dried mask on their face instead of a thin layer of cream. To prevent this from happening, here's a little secret: it's better to apply the foundation not with your fingers, but with a damp sponge.

Try to choose the right shade of foundation. It is not advisable to choose a skin that is darker than your natural color. The face will look slightly stained in contrast to the lighter neck. A lighter shade is quite acceptable, but within reasonable limits. And don’t forget to carefully blend the tone on the upper part of the neck so as not to get a “mask” effect.

If you are bothered by blue under-eyes, use a special corrector - it should be 1 tone lighter than your natural complexion. The tone is not applied on top of the corrector!

If the foundation shines a little, apply a thin layer of loose powder of the same shade to it.

How to deal with blue under the eyes?

Many people try to disguise the blue under their eyes with foundation. Don't do this, it will make the bruises even more noticeable. Use correctors specifically designed for this purpose. They contain particles that reflect light, and the composition is denser than that of foundations. The correctors have only 4 shades, so it’s difficult to make a mistake when choosing. It should be lighter than your skin. Foundation should be applied to the edge of the dark circle so that the transition from cream to corrector is smooth.

Eyes

It is customary to shade pearl shades only on the upper eyelid, as well as on the brow area. As for matte shadows, they can be used to contour the eye, that is, to outline the entire eye with them. If you use eyeliner, remember that applying it requires some skill to make your makeup look natural and neat. Try not to use black eyeliner for daytime or everyday makeup - save it for the evening. During the day, brown or gray eyeliner looks much better. And don’t forget that eyeliner applied to the lower eyelid makes your face look older!

If you prefer to paint your eyelashes with mascara that gives volume, do it with special care: eyelashes painted too thickly will quickly stick together and give a funny and repulsive impression. If your mascara is designed to lengthen eyelashes, it should be applied in 3-4 layers, and each of them should dry.

Applying shadows correctly

Many have already chosen the optimal eyeshadow color for themselves and know how to quickly do makeup without mistakes. Some draw lines with a pencil or liquid eyeliner, some use white shadows to highlight the bone under the eyebrow to accentuate the eyes. Some women wear fashionable pearlescent shadows, while others prefer classic matte ones. But not everyone knows that the technique for applying different types of shadows is different. Pearlescent ones need to be shaded well on the upper eyelid and under the eyebrow, but you shouldn’t outline your eyes with them - they will look tear-stained. You can outline your eyes with matte shadows, but be sure to shade them everywhere, especially in the creases of the eyelids.

Do you apply eye cream right before applying eye shadow? In vain! This should be done at least 15 minutes before you start applying eye makeup. Otherwise, the shadows will roll and the makeup will look sloppy.

Brows

It’s just great if the shape and color of your eyebrows completely suits you. If not, we begin to correct them. Too wide or “fused” eyebrows give a woman’s face excessive heaviness and a certain “masculinity,” which is completely unnecessary for us. So, you'll have to pluck it out. The main thing is to immediately give your eyebrows the correct shape, and then it will be easier to maintain it - you will need to remove regrown hairs 1-2 times a week.

As for the eyebrow color, it should be as close as possible to the hair color. If coloring is required, it is better to do it with the help of a specialist when you dye your hair. You can be content with daily tinting with a pencil, drawing “hairs”, but not drawing a solid line.

Another great way is to draw on the eyebrows using shadows and a special brush, beveled on one side. This makeup gives the eyebrows the most natural and well-groomed look.

Home Makeup

Proper makeup is a real art, and mastering it is not an easy task. After all, with the help of makeup you can not only create a wonderful transformation from an ugly woman to a beauty, but also, on the contrary, ruin your image.

Correct makeup is one that is practically invisible on the face, but at the same time it corrects minor imperfections and emphasizes advantages.

So, the main makeup mistakes to avoid are:

1.

Inappropriate or excessive use of foundation. As a result of an unsuccessfully chosen foundation shade, the face looks doll-like, mummified, or dirty. Before purchasing foundation, ask for a sample and blend it onto the back of your hand. If the cream is not visible, then it is your shade.

Leave heavy, greasy foundation behind. After a few hours, greasy streaks will appear on a face thickly smeared with cream, and the makeup will look rough and sloppy. A modern foundation should be light and transparent.

2.

Thinly plucked eyebrows are considered a mistake in modern makeup. Fashion does not stand still, so what was considered beautiful 30 years ago looks strange today. Your task is only to give the eyebrows a clear, neat shape, pull out excess hairs only around the eyebrows and smooth them with a brush.

3.

It is considered a mistake when the lip line is clearly highlighted with a contour pencil of dark shades. When lipstick wears off, contoured lips look unsightly. Modern fashion has abandoned hot, frilly lipstick colors in favor of soft, natural ones. During the day, it will be enough to refresh your lips with a transparent gloss.

4.

Proper eyelash makeup involves applying high-quality mascara in one or two layers, no more. Separate the stuck eyelashes with a brush, your look will become more feminine and expressive.

5.

To refresh your skin color and hide paleness, it is advisable to use creamy transparent blush, which is carefully shaded on the cheekbones. Using too much blush is a serious mistake that will give you a doll-like look.

6.

Bronzers that have recently appeared on the market very often play a cruel joke on girls: if used ineptly, the face looks dirty. Remember, bronzer is not applied to the entire face, but only to the temples, cheekbones and the side of the face in the shape of the letter “C”.

Lips

Correctly emphasized lips can add a “zest” to your appearance and make the image complete. By the way, never try to apply equally intensive makeup to your lips and eyes: one thing should prevail in your makeup!

If you outline your lips with a pencil darker than the lipstick color, they will turn out thinner, and if you use a lighter pencil, you will get plump lips. After the pencil, you should take the powder and apply it to your lips in a thin layer: this way the lipstick will lie more neatly and last longer.

True, lately lip pencil has become less and less relevant: modern lipsticks are quite capable of replacing it.

And here’s another secret: to make your lips more expressive, place neat dots or small strokes in the hollow above the upper lip and in the middle under the lower lip.

Otherwise, each woman determines for herself which makeup techniques suit her. The main thing is to achieve the effect of a natural face, and not a painted Indian mask. It has long been proven: men prefer natural women on whom makeup is almost invisible. And don’t allow statements like: “How well you put on your makeup today!” It’s much better if they tell you: “You look great!” Source

Yes, it was possible: the three most common mistakes in makeup and how to avoid them

Makeup artist Lena Igradi talks about the mistakes that, according to her observations, girls most often make when putting on makeup. And about what, in fact, can be done differently.

And no, we’re not talking about the fact that you shouldn’t combine bright, bright shadows and bright, bright lipstick in one look. This is just for your health. Now there are no hard and fast rules in makeup, let’s remember this. And it’s not even about the fact that some people still haven’t learned how to shade bronzer. Everything is much simpler. Or, on the contrary, is it more difficult? After all, we are so used to it. All. For a long time.

Lena Igradi

The gap between the eyelashes is like tights with holes under your jeans, no one cares how intact they are.

Lena Igradi is a makeup artist, author of the blog My face but better, writes a column about makeup and gives master classes. Plus he works with the girls to sort out their cosmetics bags and helps them buy what they really need.

Makeup is truly a ritual that we learn not only from blogs and books. We make some movements reflexively, without thinking: this is how we apply lipstick, this is how we apply powder, this is what my grandmother did, this is what my mother does, this is what the heroines of our favorite films and best friends do. During the first meeting with clients who came to the master class, I watch how they put on makeup and see the same gestures learned in their youth. And it doesn’t occur to anyone that maybe, because we do everything exactly this way and not otherwise, we are not satisfied with their durability, density, distribution on the skin and everything else that we usually don’t like.

Maybe, instead of endlessly looking for a magic brush that will blend everything on its own, or “that-non-existent-in-nature” lipstick, take it and change your habits?..

But is this possible? No, it's somehow... not magical enough. And in general, how can you somehow do such simple things wrong?

You won't believe it, but it's possible.

Yes, it was possible: apply lipstick and NOT purse your lips, trying to distribute it better

This is truly a timeless classic. Everyone does this, always and everywhere, even stars in lipstick advertisements. It's time to find out the truth: this very movement (by the way, what is the correct name for it?!:) does not help in any way, but it has a great effect on the durability of the coating, and for the worse. Have you tried a bunch of lipsticks and none of them live up to their claims regarding longevity? Does it say “six hours if you don’t eat anything”?

Haha, everything disappeared in a measly hour and a half!

Well, this is a great reason to try to give up the habit of pursing and rubbing your lips together.

When I work with clients, I offer them, perhaps not the most romantic, but at least a visual metaphor. Imagine...a sock. Yes, yes, an ordinary sock from a favorite pair, the heel of which has worn through to a state of translucency - to the point of gauze. Technically it's not a hole yet, right? And you can even wear this sock for some time, although you understand: it will soon end, and the reason for this is strong friction. When you rub your lips together forcefully, you create exactly the same friction. And you get the same “gauze” in the pigment at the junction and in the center of the lower lip. At this moment, you still do not see the future “hole”, and are quite happy with the result. But very soon it will manifest itself, because you have disturbed the uniformity of the coating. However, we will blame either our own lips (nothing sticks to them!) or the lipstick, with which, alas, again no miracle happened.

Of course, our mothers and grandmothers did exactly the same thing, and nothing. But think about it: before, lipsticks used to stay in decent shape for no longer than a couple of hours, and spread out much, much worse. You could rub your lips or not, but you still had to touch up your lipstick often. And for modern lipsticks - it doesn’t matter whether they are gel or matte, declared as long-lasting or not - this movement simply shortens their life.

But you can’t just forget a habit. It needs to be replaced with something. How?

Try patting the lipstick into your lips with the pad of your finger or spreading it out with a fluffy small brush (any eyeshadow brush you've been disappointed with will work great here). This way you will ensure that the pigment adheres to the skin and does not damage the density of the layer.

If, without this movement, life is not sweet to you, and the lion’s share of the pleasure from makeup is lost, you can at least try to minimize the number of repetitions: close and open your lips once, and that’s enough.

Yes, it was possible: do not raise your forehead as soon as you pick up an eyebrow pencil

My clients often complain that they cannot draw symmetrical eyebrows. Does not work. But perfect symmetry is not what you should strive for. If I meet a person with a perfectly symmetrical face, I will probably be scared (and maybe sprinkle holy water): there is nothing natural about it. Often people who have had those same twin eyebrows done “along a ruler” in a salon begin to see more clearly the differences between the right and left halves of the face. So slightly different eyebrows not only make us real earthlings, but also harmonize facial features and bring them into line with facial expressions.

Another question is if you can’t draw any relatively even eyebrows at all. Often the reason lies precisely in the habit of throwing them higher. Here, of course, there is a paradox: wanting to portray natural, even eyebrows, we bend them more abruptly and raise them a centimeter or two above their natural habitat.

It is not surprising that we are not happy with the result.

The same rule works when we draw up the lower eyelid: if we constantly round our eyes “for convenience,” the result will be Harry Potter glasses instead of a cat’s eye.

The most accurate makeup is obtained if you keep a “poker face”. It’s difficult to fight flying eyebrows, but there’s a life hack for this: press the finger of your free hand between your eyebrows or a little higher. The forehead will be securely fixed, and at the same time you will be able to feel how your eyebrows are trying to fly out of habit, contrary to your plans.

Yes, it was possible: applying powder easily and playfully

A “heavy” hand is not just about boxing. This is also about those who are used to doing any business with full responsibility and conscientiousness. Even powder yourself. For some, the desire to control everything and do any work as diligently as possible never lets go. Including in the morning, in front of the mirror.

Almost all the girls I watched while they were applying powder or blush took the brush in their hand so that they held it firmly and confidently - by the ferrule. (“Ferrule” is the same iron clamp for lint). This is understandable: the closer you hold it, the better you feel the movements, right? It’s better to choose a denser brush, because it will apply the product more evenly than some thin analogues.

This is all great, but let's look at it from the outside. Take the brush closer to the bristles and start moving it over your face. Do you feel that your hand begins to move at least from the elbow, and even from the shoulder itself? You engage strong muscles and, as a result, apply quite intense pressure to the skin. If your brush is tightly packed and its bristles flex when it comes into contact with your skin, then you can bet you're scrubbing off (ripping off) more makeup than applying it.

If you have ever powdered your makeup to set it, and noticed that there seemed to be enough tone on your face, but minor redness, especially on the protruding parts, became visible again, you will understand what is meant.

Fortunately, retraining here is quite easy. It’s much more difficult to stop thinking that you’re not doing something well enough =) You just need to try to take the brush not near the ferrule, but about two centimeters before it, by the end of the handle.

And you will understand that, magically, you can make fairly wide strokes using only the strength of your fingers - and the pile will glide over the skin like a feather, without pulling anything. Still, the pressing force of the “index + thumb + middle finger” system is less than that of a shoulder accustomed to carrying a laptop in a bag.

You may ask: what to do with kabuki brushes and powder compact brushes that have very short handles?

Powder compact brushes are only needed for emergency makeup touch-ups on the run. They are generally developed based on considerations “to fit into the case,” and not based on the specific product, its texture and how it should all work. But with kabuki everything is simpler: the short handle signals that it is better to work with pressing rather than sliding movements. It is better to deliver and seal powder directly than to erase previously applied layers of foundation, concealer or cream highlighter.

By the way, as soon as you master the technique of gentle use of brushes, your problems with applying dry blush will immediately disappear. You can easily handle the most pigmented and vibrant new products. If the movements are light and the brush is fluffy enough, the blush will not stain even on foundation with a wet finish, and without prior powdering.
