"Highway 60"

For summer to come into your life, you need to figure out what you want.

In the summer, you are tempted to go on an adventure that will allow you to change your usual surroundings and understand something new about yourself. Handsome major Neil Oliver (James Marsden) succeeded. All roads are open to Neil: he can go to law school, marry a beautiful girl and earn a lot of money. But Neil is not sure whether this is what he wants or whether this is his father’s dream. On his birthday, the hero makes a wish: to get answers to his questions. And then he meets the genie played by Gary Oldman. O. J. Grant (OW Grant, from the English “One Wish Grant” - “one wish guaranteed”) fulfills the wish as it is formulated, so you need to be more careful with the words, otherwise you will be run over by a truck, as happened with one of genie's clients. Something similar happened to Neil: Grant sends him on a road trip along the non-existent Route 60, where he must find answers to his questions. A classic road movie filled with magic is transformed into a light but instructive story about the importance of listening to your heart and living your life. Turn by turn, director and screenwriter Bob Gale (this is his only full-length film) teaches the main character to make a choice and follow it. You can trust him in these lessons. Gale wrote the script for the cult trilogy "Back to the Future", where the whole life depended on the choice of the hero, and said hello to the franchise with the help of Christopher Lloyd. In Route 60, he again plays a doc who explains to Neil that much in life is not what it seems at first glance: “We see what we expect to see, not the truth. Spades are not always black and hearts are red.”

"La La Land"

You must be able to enjoy the summer in a relationship, despite the fact that autumn will come.

The musical by Damien Chazelle, a former failed jazz drummer, is full of summer emotions, colors and fun. Just look at the opening scene on the highway, when a dull traffic jam turns into an incredible dance number on the roofs of cars! The relationship of the characters began enchantingly and at the same time romantic: Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma Stone) walked along the fern hollow of Griffith Park (considered a secret place in Los Angeles), along the 45-meter Colorado Street Bridge in Los Angeles ( in 1913 it was recognized as the highest in the world), rode the famous Angels Flight funicular. Sebastian played jazz at concerts, Mia danced to his music. And it doesn’t matter how this novel ends - the main thing is that it will allow us to experience true love with the characters and enjoy the wonderful music of composer Justin Hurwitz (he received an Oscar for his work). “Another Day of Sun” and “City of Stars” are what you’ll be humming for a long time after watching them.

"50 First Dates"

We need to have a blast in the summer so that we don’t feel ashamed later in the winter.

Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) is a good guy: he organized summer for himself all year round and chose the appropriate place for this - evergreen Hawaii. Henry lives one day at a time, charms tourist girls by posing as a special agent, and then abandons them after getting what he wants. In fact, Henry is simply afraid to build serious relationships with people, so he avoids human company, preferring animals (he is a veterinarian). But one day Henry meets someone who lives one day at a time against her will: Lucy (Drew Barrymore) has short-term memory after an accident, and the next morning she forgets everything that happened yesterday. Henry, whose heart trembled, is not going to give up, but he has to win Lucy anew every day. The sun, the sea, the beach, tropical rain and coconuts, colorful shirts and magnificent landscapes - all this is an excellent setting in order to easily and with humor remind you of the simple truth: for summer in a relationship you need to work on them every day.

Always Say Yes (2008)

Always Say Yes movie

Carl Allen cannot be called a pleasant person: he is closed and unsociable, easily rejects any proposals from others, without even thinking about them, but at the same time he himself suffers from his own intransigence. One day, Karl meets a childhood friend who tells him about the amazing “Yes – New Kind of No” training.

The seminar organizer, Terrence, makes a deal with Allen, promising that he will not remember past disappointments if he agrees to all the proposals. Following the instructions, Karl is left without a wallet or gasoline on the very first evening, but the most amazing story in his life begins with these troubles.

"Vicky Cristina Barcelona"

Everyone in their youth should have a summer full of feelings, tragedies and passions.

Barcelona is considered the sunniest city on the planet: there are 300 sunny days a year. It's no surprise that Woody Allen moved here from rainy New York and London to tell the story of a dizzying romance with a minimum of consequences and trauma. American friends, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Christina (Scarlett Johansson), decide to spend their holidays in Barcelona. Vicky has decided on her plans for life and is ready to marry a serious financier from Manhattan. But Christina is not yet ready to settle down and longs for adventure, which finds her very quickly. She finds herself caught up in a whirlpool of passions between artist Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem) and his jealous former wife (Penelope Cruz won an Oscar for this role). Allen whimsically shuffles heroes, sex and scandals, suddenly showing that he may not only be Hollywood's leading neurotic, but also a resort poet. The maestro was so carried away by this genre that he released several geographical films in a row about Paris and Rome, significantly increasing tourist interest in these cities. The lightness, sunshine and carefree nature of “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” will make anyone immediately pack their bags.

"Midnight in Paris"

Summer is where we are not.

Allen's next "geofilm" is dedicated to the most romantic city in the world. Inez (Rachel McAdams) is in love with naive Hollywood romantic screenwriter Gil Pender (Owen Wilson), and he is in love with Paris. And if the ideal summer for her is to prepare for the wedding, go to luxurious boutiques and social parties, then for him it is to wander around the capital of France. Gil goes there with his fiancée to find inspiration for the book he dreams of writing. There, while walking in the evenings along the cobbled streets and embankments of the Seine, Gil accidentally finds a portal to the past and ends up in Paris in the 1920s, where he meets his idols - Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Picasso, Dali and other geniuses. Things immediately went smoothly with the book: at night Gil goes to the Paris of his dreams, and during the day he describes what he saw in the novel. Allen's painting is a fantasy about how the unrealizable enters our lives. It is full of humor, nostalgia and that special warm atmosphere that we miss so much on gloomy evenings, when we want to feel sorry for ourselves and dream of a better summer as a child. When the grass seemed greener and adulthood seemed like a distant adventure yet to be experienced.

We're the Millers (2013)

We're the Millers movie

David Clark sells soft drugs, considering himself a fairly principled and decent person, since he refuses to sell to children. One day, a small drug dealer is left without income, and now owes an impressive amount to Brad, his supplier. He has to agree to a risky operation: transporting goods across the border.

Realizing that a pleasant family with children will not arouse suspicion among customs officers, he asks a stripper he knows to portray his wife, neighbor Kenny “becomes” his son, and an unfamiliar girl Casey becomes his daughter. If in the presented list of films you are looking for something to watch at home in the evening, then a comedy with such a bright cast is unlikely to disappoint you!

"Roman Adventures"

Summer is the time to look around: you can notice a lot of amazing things.

Allen's third famous “geographic picture” turned out to be a postcard film or even a guide to the legendary city. Instead of a single storyline, there is a potpourri of stories that the traffic controller promises to tell us. Allen conceived "Roman Adventures" as "The Decameron", only sunny and serene, and filmed the fantasy of American tourists who come to Rome to touch the antiquities and sip on impressions. That's what Hayley (Alison Pill) did. At the Trevi Fountain she met local lawyer Michelangelo (Flavio Parenti) and immediately decided to marry him. American parents (Judy Davis and Allen himself) come to meet their future son-in-law, who are not enthusiastic about their daughter’s idea. The director lovingly ironizes the typical Roman vacation of the average person. Colosseum, pizza, pasta, wine, tiramisu, Leoncavallo and “Volare” - all our reverent dreams are collected here in one bottle and lived out by an excellent cast. Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Ellen Page, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Penelope Cruz will delight your eyes.

Dad, die

  • Comedy, 2020.
  • Director: Kirill Sokolov.
  • Duration: 94 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6.7.

Good Russian films: “Dad, Die”A still from the film “Dad, Die”
When you go to meet a girl’s parents, and instead of gifts for tea you take a hammer with you, family gatherings promise to be exciting. Olya asks her boyfriend to prove her feelings not with words, but with deeds: she must kill her father, a law enforcement officer. But dad doesn’t intend to just give up.

The film received conflicting reviews from viewers: some are delighted, others accuse it of an abundance of bloody scenes and outright trash. Check which camp you are in, just take your children away from screens in advance: it will be tough, but funny.

"Mamma MIA!"

Every summer adventure has its consequences, some pleasant and some not so pleasant.

Great songs of the great ABBA performed by great artists. Greece, the sea, Meryl Streep jumping on the bed in denim overalls to “Mamma Mia” and choosing between Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgard. It doesn’t matter what the plot is about, but we’ll remind you. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is preparing for her wedding to a simple Greek guy (Dominic Cooper) and wants to invite her father to the celebration. The problem is that neither she nor her mother knows who it is. Sophie finds entries in her mother's diary about an affair with three men and invites all three to the wedding. Then, with songs and dances, the whole wonderful company finds out who Sophie’s real father is, and the girl can finally get married in peace. In the film adaptation of the famous Broadway musical, everything is so hot, every frame sparkles and shimmers in the sun, the sea is desperately azure, the sand is dazzling yellow, and the star male trio dances in flippers on the pier - isn’t this a holiday?

Horrible Bosses (2011)

Horrible Bosses movie

Closing the list of comedies for a pleasant evening viewing is a film about Nick, Dale and Kurt, who are united not only by friendship, but also by hatred of their superiors. Each of the heroes has a rather unpleasant boss who does not allow them to work calmly and reach career heights.

"Moonrise Kingdom"

Every adult was once a child who believed in the magic of summer and knew how to create comfort from any available means.

Like most of Wes Anderson's films, Moonrise Kingdom takes us back to a highly stylized past. 1965, summer scout camp on the 25-kilometer fictional island of New Penzance, somewhere in the northeastern United States. The main characters are 12-year-old children. Sam is an orphan, and Susie is the eldest child of a lawyer couple (Bill Murray and Frances McDormand) who dreams of being an orphan. Sam and Susie have been corresponding for a year and fall in love. On the eve of a hurricane, the children decide to escape the camp and the adult world to create their own Moonrise Kingdom - so they name a small cove where they hide while the counselor and the sheriff (Bruce Willis and Edward Norton) search for them. Anderson's unique style is immediately apparent: the film is like an old photo album, full of warmth and magic. The director, like his Danish namesake, is a real storyteller who painstakingly creates a magical world, filling it with his favorite yellow-red color and lovely details, plunging us into those times when the hut seemed cozy, the world was huge, and you were small.

"At least once in my life"

In the summer, everything is possible, even after a series of failures, you can again believe in yourself and your talent.

Summer in New York began with a bad start for the main characters. American Dan (Mark Ruffalo) had a quarrel with his partner and lost his own music label. British Greta (Keira Knightley) moved to the States for her musician boyfriend (Adam Levine), for whom she wrote songs, but is now separated from him and doesn’t know what to do. Life seems to be over, but Dan accidentally hears Greta singing in a bar, meets her and offers to record an album. In different parts of New York, since no one has money for a studio. The subway, the roofs of houses, Central Park - the heroes write music everywhere, inserting the sounds of a sleepless city into their songs. “At least once in my life” is a touching musical walk through summer New York, which teaches us to enjoy what we have. Relax and go with the flow of the big city along with its residents, listen to a friend’s playlist on your player, forgive a passerby who nudged you with your elbow, and catch sunbeams on a park bench.

"Yesterday"

It doesn’t matter so much what happened yesterday if today summer brings opportunities. You just need to find the courage to use them.

Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) from a small British town in just one summer turned from a pathetic loser into a world star, whose greatness is recognized even by the idol of all the girls, Ed Sheeran (he plays himself here). All because one day after the accident, Jack woke up in a world where there had never been Coca-Cola, Harry Potter and The Beatles. Jack passes off the Beatles' songs as his own and, of course, becomes a musical legend. True, problems arise: how can you remember the words “Eleanor Rigby” without the help of search engines? What was Eleanor collecting there? Millet? Buckwheat? Correct answer: fig. Danny Boyle made a funny fantasy on the theme of “what if...”, filling it with great music and showing that all the colors of summer and life can completely pass by while you are desperately storming the musical Olympus. Let's not forget about this and, of course, learn the words "Eleanor Rigby" just in case.

House of the Sun

  • Drama, 2010.
  • Director: Garik Sukachev.
  • Duration: 94 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6.4.

Film "House of the Sun"Still from the film “House of the Sun” Muscovite Sasha has everything like other people: a decent family, studying at a medical institute ahead.
Meeting the “flower children” interrupts the boring, measured idyll. Sasha falls in love with the hippie Sun and goes with new friends to Crimea, using a trip to Bulgaria given by his father. She has summer, music and a new adult life ahead of her. “House of the Sun” is a story about the contact of completely different worlds, which can bring tears even from hardened cynics. And yes, a bout of nostalgia is guaranteed: if you didn’t experience the era of stagnation, then at least you’ll probably feel sad about your own youth.

"A Star Is Born"

In the summer, stars are especially brightly visible, which you don’t notice in the winter.

Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), a drunken country star, lives in the afterglow of his former glory. One day he walks into a small bar, sees a performance by an unknown singer Ellie (Lady Gaga) and realizes that he has talent in front of him. Jackson takes Ellie under his wing, arranges her song, invites her to the stage - so they begin to live and perform together. But gradually everything changes: Ellie becomes a star, and Jackson fades into the shadows. For his directorial debut, Bradley Cooper took a classic Hollywood story and turned it into a Coachella-style summer music festival. Open stadiums, a sun-drenched backyard in Los Angeles, songs in parking lots, freedom and carefreeness. The metaphor is simple: letting love into your life is like opening a window and letting in sunlight. This is what the heroes sing about all the time. “Watching sunrises and watching sunsets together,” is how Jackson describes his happiness in the song “Music To My Eyes.” “The Arizona sky is shining in your eyes,” Ellie paints his portrait in the joint song “Always Remember Us This Way.” “I won’t let the sunshine in, I’ll never love again,” he echoes her. “I won’t let the sunshine in again,” Ellie finally sings on the closing track, “I’ll Never Love Again.” And, of course, the famous “Shallow”. The way Cooper and Gaga sang it at the Oscar ceremony seemed to overshadow the film itself.

"Handsome"

In summer it is easier to see beauty, especially in those you don’t pay attention to in winter.

For Ludo (Til Schweiger), summer in Berlin means seducing girls and eternal parties. Breaking into Vladimir Klitschko's wedding party (yes, he's playing himself) and accidentally falling naked butt up into the wedding cake is a great trick for a society reporter who needs to get sensations. For Anna (Nora Tschirner), summer in Berlin means walking outside with her children (she works in a kindergarten). Ludo and Anna have known each other for a long time, but their worlds never intersected until the court sentenced Ludo to occupational therapy, and precisely in the kindergarten where Anna works. Now she has to teach him to find a common language not only with girls, but also with eight-year-olds, and he will teach her to have fun in the summer. Schweiger is the maestro of light summer comedies in German cinema about seducers with a sensitive heart who are sure to take the path of reform. In “Handsome,” he, as always, will make us not only laugh at a guy getting hair removal (Mel Gibson, after all, went through it too), but also show the beauty of summer Berlin, its citizens and especially its beautiful women. And all this to the excellent soundtrack of the cult American band The Killers.

The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)

The Hitman's Bodyguard, film

Michael Bryce was until recently an elite bodyguard providing clients with “triple protection.” After a tragic incident, a disqualified retiree is forced to do odd jobs.

Disappointed, Bryce breaks up with a girl who works for Interpol, but one day their paths cross again. Amelia admits that she needs help: circumstances are such that only Michael can deliver dangerous criminal Darius Kincaid to another country so that he can testify against a brutal dictator. Bryce reluctantly agrees, not knowing what kind of funny things this will turn out to be.

"Once upon a time in Vegas"

In the summer one is drawn to Sin City.

The rule “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” does not always work in real life. Joy (Cameron Diaz) was planning a wedding, but the groom called off the engagement. Jack (Ashton Kutcher) was going to continue working for his father, and he fired him. To forget about all the problems, both go to Vegas, where they have a blast: they get drunk, spend a wild night together and get married. Waking up, the heroes, of course, are going to get a divorce, but fate intervenes: Jack pulls the slot machine by the handle and accidentally hits the jackpot of 3 million. And in the event of a divorce, he will have to share the winnings with his unfamiliar new wife, which he does not intend to do. The court freezes millions and sentences the heroes to six months of marriage, and each of them makes insidious plans to get rid of the other half and get the whole jackpot for themselves. In an hour and a half of these tricks, you will laugh to the point of tears more than once and keep your fingers crossed that Jack and Joy end up together - such a powerful chemistry between Diaz and Kutcher in the frame. As for summer, director Tom Vaughn turned it out exactly the way you'd expect it: in Vegas - with jumping into an outdoor pool and riding in an open-top car along its roads, and in New York - with jogging through Central Park, playing golf and wonderful views of the city at night from the roof of a skyscraper.

American Ultra (2015)

American Ultra, film

If you are looking for an unusual light comedy for the evening to lift your spirits, pay attention to this film from the list. The plot focuses on a young man named Mike living in a small town. The character works at a local store, and in his free time he smokes weed, draws comics and dreams of marrying his friend.

Suddenly Mike finds out that in the past he was a dangerous secret agent, but a special technique erased all these memories. It's hard for the guy to believe that he really had deadly skills, but soon they begin to manifest themselves in the most extreme situations.

"Letters to Juliet"

Summer helps you find true love that nothing can destroy.

In Verona, where, according to Shakespeare, Romeo met his beloved, there is a wall in the masonry of which people with a broken heart leave notes. There, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) finds a letter written by an Englishwoman, Claire, 50 years ago. In it, she admits that she never decided to escape with her beloved Lorenzo and returned to London. Sophie is looking for Claire (Vanessa Redgrave) and promises to help find the same Lorenzo. Gary Winik's melodrama shines with Italian sunshine and positivity, and thanks to the search for Sophie, you will take a voyage through the resort cities of Italy - Verona, Tuscany and Veneto. Almost all the filming here is on location: feasts in nature, car rides through small Italian towns and vineyards along which muscular farmers gallop on horses.

"128 heart beats per minute"

To make the summer fun, you need to find the right music for it.

For some, hanging out on Californian beaches in the summer is a vacation, while for others it’s work. Young DJ Cole, played by the handsome Zac Efron, is trying to find his sound and make a track that will make the hearts of millions beat to the rhythm of his music. He meets successful DJ James Reid (the equally handsome Wes Bentley), and he makes him doubt himself: “You copy famous tracks, not create your own.” Things get even more confusing when Cole falls in love with James' girlfriend (the incredible Emily Ratajkowski). And now the hero will have to choose what he really wants in life. Max Joseph directed an uplifting story about how you need to live here and now and hear how the world around you sounds, and not the obsessions in your head. He told all this with the help of beautiful half-naked people, sunny Los Angeles and the soundtrack “We Are Your Friends” by the French electronic group Justice, which set the rhythm for the whole film.

Love with obstacles

Un bonheur n'arrive jamais seul, 2012 Genre: comedy, melodrama Director: James Ut Actors: Sophie Marceau, Gad Elmaleh, Maurice Barthelemy, Francois Berlean Age rating: 16+ KinoPoisk rating / IMDb: 7.2 / 6.5

A wonderful light story about an unexpected meeting between people who live completely different lives. The viewer will have to find out what the meeting of male carelessness with female responsibility will lead to.

Despite the ease of the narrative, this film demonstrates very real relationships that can arise between a man and a woman.

A slightly cliched script will not prevent you from enjoying the gorgeous sexy Sophie Marceau, funny comedic moments and the overall positive mood of this French comedy.
