More stars came to Princess Eugenie's wedding than Meghan Markle [photo]

Elizabeth II's granddaughter Princess Eugenie and her lover Jax Brooksbank got married at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The wedding ceremony was attended by many stars, politicians and members of the royal family. Read about how the wedding went, who attended it and what funny things happened in the material “KP in Ukraine”.

The royal wedding of Princess Eugenie and entrepreneur Jack Brooksbank is one of the most anticipated events of the year. The couple got married in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. It was in this building that another celebrity couple got married - Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Princess Eugenie is ninth in line to the British throne. Jack Brooksbank comes from a family of baronets. The groom grew up in the family of an accountant and director of an enterprise; he also has a brother, Thomas. Princess Eugenie's mother is a distant relative of Jack's great-great-grandfather, so in a sense, the newlyweds are related by distant blood ties.

The couple met in 2010 in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier and have been in a strong relationship ever since. The groom proposed in January of this year during a joint trip to Nicaragua.

Who is Princess Eugenie?

Eugenie is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, the second daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York.

The 28-year-old princess is ninth in line to the throne after her sister Beatrice.

The sisters are well remembered for their memorable outfits at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding in 2011.

Eugenie's full title is Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York. She does not have an official surname, but when necessary she lists it as "York".

After the wedding, she will still have the title, but she will be able to take her husband's surname.

Eugenia studied English Literature and Art History at Newcastle University.

He currently holds the post of director of the Hauser and Wirth contemporary art gallery in London.

The princess's parents divorced when she was six years old, but remain on good terms.

In an interview with British Vogue, she said that she tries to use as little plastic as possible in her home - and wants the same at her wedding.

She was named after one of Queen Victoria's granddaughters, Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg.

How Princess Eugenie's wedding photos showed the rift in the royal family

Formal wedding portraits are another essential part of any royal wedding. Last week, on October 12, Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, married her lover, nightclub manager Jack Brooksbank .

Recently, Kensington Palace published several official wedding portraits of the newlyweds, and the main photo clearly demonstrated the split in the British royal family.

Two formal group portraits - with Eugenie and Jack's family, surrounded by pages and flower girls - were taken in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle.

From left to right, back row: Thomas Brooksbank, Nicola Brooksbank, George Brooksbank, Princess Beatrice, Sarah, Duchess of York, Prince Andrew. Middle row: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Maude Windsor and Louis de Givenchy. Front row: Theodora Williams, Mia Tindall, Isla Phillips and Savannah Phillips

Particular attention was drawn to the atypical composition of the general portrait: the newlyweds are not in the center of the photograph, but slightly to the left, closer to the groom’s family. The photo seems to be divided in two by a conspicuous void in the center of the frame - between the bride and her relatives.

It is noteworthy that Princess Eugenie's mother, Sarah , is not standing next to the bride. Many explained this unusual arrangement by Queen Elizabeth’s desire to maintain a distance from the scandalous ex-wife of her son, Prince Andrew .

Redheaded and always smiling, Sarah Ferguson was a commoner and close friend of Princess Diana when she married Prince Andrew in 1986. Like Lady Di, Fergie (as Sarah was popularly called) was a rebel in the royal family and did not put up with its conservative structures and protocol. Problems in the marriage began already in 1991: Andrew was increasingly traveling on duty, and Fergie began to be noticed in the company of other men. Already in 1996, Sarah filed for divorce and became persona non grata at Buckingham Palace, retaining the title of Duchess of York.

The portrait of the newlyweds with the bride's retinue turned out to be much more fun and more traditional

The author of Princess Eugenie's wedding photo shoot was British fashion photographer Alex Bramall . Two years ago, he photographed the princess for the fashion glossy Harper's Bazaar, and Eugenia was very pleased with his work, so she invited Bramall to capture the most important day in her life.

Let us remember that before the wedding, Evgenia was in a relationship with Jack, a former waiter who became the manager of an elite nightclub in London, for seven years.

“They ride on the waves of laughter and love... Although the boat helps them!” - writes future mother-in-law Sarah Ferguson.

Prince Andrew, Jack's future father-in-law, described him as "an outstanding young man."

Shortly before the wedding, the queen may grant him a noble title - most likely a count.

In addition, among the guests are representatives of charitable organizations supported by the couple. For example, the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Salvation Army and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.

Pupils from schools that Princess Eugenie attended - St George's School and Coworth Flexlands School - were also invited to the wedding.

800 people are expected to attend the wedding ceremony in the chapel, including celebrities.

Among Eugenia's friends are singer Ellie Goulding, model Cara Delevingne and the children of businessman Richard Branson - Holly and Sam.

What is known about the dress?

Image copyright Jonathan Brady Image caption It's possible that Eugenie's dress will be from the designer brand Erdem, the dress from which she wore to her engagement photo shoot.
The Princess confidently stated in an interview with Vogue that she knew everything about the dress from the very beginning.

“As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew who the designer would be and what it would look like,” she said, only hinting that it was a British designer.

In an interview with the BBC on the One Show, Evgenia, when asked whether it would be a straight dress or a fluffy one, answered: “Perhaps both. Would you do that? Does this even happen?"

The first of those who may have created Eugenie's wedding dress is called Erdem - a floral dress from this brand she wore to her engagement photo shoot.

Other favorite designers include Vivienne Westwood and Ralph & Russo.

Will the princess wear a tiara?

It was the York Diamond Tiara, given to her by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. She wore it many times after the wedding and even kept it after her divorce from Andrew.

According to tradition, brides are expected to wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue for good luck.

Princess Eugenie may borrow the tiara from her mother, or perhaps from the Queen herself. She has a whole collection of tiaras, and she shared them with Catherine and Megan.

The children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will play the roles of page and bridesmaid, as they did at the wedding of Harry and Meghan.

She will also be the five-year-old daughter of Robbie Williams and American actress Ayda Field, Theodora Rose Williams.

Brooksbank's best man will likely be his younger brother.

Wedding kaleidoscope of stars

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank invited 1,200 ordinary English people to their wedding. They were able to watch the congregation and members of the royal family arrive at the chapel, listen to a live broadcast of the ceremony and see the start of the procession.

Princess Eugenie chose a Peter Pilotto dress with a full skirt and a long hem, as well as Charlotte Olympia shoes. Contrary to predictions, Evgenia wore a tiara (with large emeralds), but refused a veil.

British model Naomi Campbell chose the image of the so-called “black panther”. She wore a luxurious silver and black Ralph & Russo dress with feathers, a matching bolero, an extravagant hat with flowers, black tights and black suede stiletto pumps.

American actress Demi Moore also graced the wedding with her presence. The image of the Hollywood star can so far be called one of the most elegant among other guests. She came in a luxurious silver and black dress with feathers, which she paired with black tights and black suede stiletto pumps.

What about the royals? Kate Middleton, who was accompanied by her husband Prince William, opted for a bright fuchsia dress from Alexander McQueen. Kate's younger sister, Pippa Middleton, who is nine months pregnant and is due to go to the maternity hospital any day, also arrived at the wedding.

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle wore a navy blue outfit from her favorite fashion house Givenchy. Probably so as not to distract the public's attention from the bride.

Queen Elizabeth chose a pale blue outfit.

What kind of cake will it be?

Instead of the traditional lemon and elderberry king cake, London-based pastry chef Sophie Cabo will create a red velvet chocolate cake for the wedding.

It will be a “traditional cake with a modern twist”, decorated in the “bright colors of autumn” and decorated with ivy icing, the royal press office said.

Cabo was originally a costume designer; four years ago she started a confectionery business. The couple noticed her when she prepared cookies for an event attended by Princess Eugenie's father.
