Of all the perfumes of the Moth and Rabbit brand, which turns the plots of good and important films into smells, The Lobster is closest to the original source script: it really smells of forest, damp earth - every single person, having moved to the forest, digs a grave for himself “to grow up” - and salty water. The smell in these coniferous forests is incredible - moss, wood dust, ofuro bath barrel. Hinoki smells like all of the above - plus the cooled ashes of a temple brazier.

In reviews of “forest” perfumes, Norne from the Portland brand Slumberhouse is a common place, the modern gold standard of the perfume thicket. Portland belongs to the Pacific Northwest, a region that most often includes the US states of Washington and Oregon, as well as British Columbia in Canada - places famous for their ancient coniferous forests and the mysticism associated with them.
